Rilettura.

Tempting Adam is the first Blaze book I have read in the Harlequin line of books. I really did enjoy it and the two main characters Lauren and Adam had some good chemistry. I found this in my stack of books the other day and the title caught my attention then the back cover. I really love reading books where the main characters are not only getting together, but are best friends.

Lauren and Adam grew up together, he has been there for her for over twenty years and in the book he turns thirty. Their friendship takes a turn after Lauren starts getting these gifts. She believes that Adam is the one sending these gifts because he came in her office asking advice on how to get a real relationship that will lead to a wife. Lauren being the best friend that she is agrees to help him like all the other things she has helped him do. Adam knows if anybody can help him it is her, she helped him pick out a house and furniture to go with so why not a wife?

Everybody tells Lauren that Adam is the one sending all of these gifts to her. Flowers, a cook book for lovers, even a scarf later. The only thing is he has made it clear on many occasions that he doesn’t do gifts like that. He doesn’t want to ‘buy’ a wife or girlfriend like that, which is how he feels about the gifts. Adam makes comments about them when she makes him dinner. He has apparently thought of her in ways that she thought he never would. This gets her to thinking too; could Adam be her secret admirer? After a phone conversation with her mom she finally makes a decision. She is going to seduce her best friend.

Adam shows up at Lauren’s town house one morning wanting to take her out for breakfast, but she makes them breakfast instead. The breakfast leads to a really hot make out session at her kitchen table. All of this would be great and lead right to more; however, Lauren is a workaholic in a bad way. She thinks that if she’s not there then everything will just fall apart. So when she realizes the time she rushes out the kitchen to the post office then to other commitments she’s made for the day.

Adam thinks she works too much, so does her mom, work partner Elliot and her roommate. I think this too because it is one of the things that drove me crazy about Lauren. She made me want to shake her and scream at times during this book. I haven’t read a lot of books where I just want to strangle the female characters at times, but this was defiantly one of those books. She is the reason I had to give it a four star rating. They had chemistry yes, lots of it, it was just the little things she did that drove me to not enjoy the book as well.

Adam pretty much stayed with Lauren and her family because his parents were always gone. Her brother Rusty is like a little brother to him too so when Rusty needs help Adam helps. Probably a little too much, but when Lauren found out she blew up at him, which one reason wanted to yell at her. Another was when she blew him off on his birthday of all days; she could have let Elliot handle the client since he knew the woman. She even got mad when he didn’t tell her that he wasn’t her secret admire which really he dropped hits he wasn’t.

Lauren has to have control I get that, but too much is a kill joy. Since her dad’s death when she was about sixteen she has been that way. Her mom went into depression and stopped doing things, Lauren had to pretty much raise her brother. She had to get her mom a job and herself because her dad waited till last minute to tell them he was dying of cancer. It showed glimpse of the past when Adam and Lauren made a radio. They showed to her parents who were like his as well.

Having to raise Rusty, her brother she really didn’t want to have kids either, but going into this relationship with Adam she knew he did. It was one of the things he said when he mentioned he wanted a wife. She refuses up until almost the last pages of the book on having kids. Adam finally agrees to her terms and she agrees to his. Kids are defiantly in their future by the end of the book thankfully. (another reason I had wanted to yell her.)

The sex scenes in this book are defiantly Blazing and the lovers cook book she gets has them enjoying food on their body parts. Dorie Graham did a great job at writing this book and describing the characters. Adam is strong and has his own business as well, sending his best friend plenty of clients to keep her a float. He wants to take care of her and by the end Lauren is trying to give up some of those control issues a great four star book.

Cute fast read, well written but didn't quite grab me the way some of the other Blaze novels have done.
