Anonymous notes. Obsession. Masked mystery man. That slow slide from curiosity into something darker and more consuming??
Yeah… all my favorite tropes were there. And yet… I just didn’t vibe with it.
The premise is so strong. That buildup of notes turning into an addictive, almost reckless connection had me hooked at first.
But somewhere along the way, it just… lost me.
The pacing felt slow, and not in a tension-building way. More in a “why are we still here?” kind of way. There was also a lot of repetition, which made certain moments feel dragged out instead of heightened. The focus would drift, and I found myself disengaging when I wanted to be fully locked in.
And that’s the frustrating part—because the idea is so good.
If you’re someone who prefers a slower, more drawn-out build, this might work better for you. But for me, it felt like it kept circling the same energy without ever pushing it further.
This book took a while to really get into and parts seemed to drag on at the end. It is a good spicy dark stalker romance but I think the end could be edited a little more to help with a smoother finish.
I enjoyed the story but felt like it kind of dragged in the last third of the book until the couple of chapters. All in all, it was a great story line with the perfect amount of smut.
