Wyndsor “Wyndi” Castle accepted the proposal of her childhood sweetheart with the understanding that they would make it to forever. When that relationship ended in a fiery ball of flames, she decided to try something different. A summer of “no-strings attached” fun. When her situationship stops being fun, she walks away. But then she somehow finds herself on the radar of a different man.
Kaynaan Israel is the preeminent kicker in professional football. He’s also gorgeous, confident, rich, and surprisingly kind. When he sets his sights on Wyndi Castle, he’s convinced that she’s the woman he’ll settle down with.
A new man is the last thing on Wyndi’s mind. She has real problems. What was supposed to be a no-strings attached summer entanglement left behind the unexpected parting gift of a positive pregnancy test, and the man who got her pregnant is not only Kaynaan’s teammate, but he’s also his rival.
How can Kaynaan convince her to give them a chance when she believes that her baggage is too much for anybody to agree to help her carry?
Imagine thinking you’re just having a carefree summer fling with a fine pro footballer , only to realize he’s really just a grown boy with shoulder pads. It’s fun, it’s spicy, it’s giving “this is temporary.” And then boom… you meet his teammate. The one who actually acts like a man. The one who sees you. The one who feels like the future.
And THEN you find out you’re pregnant… by the immature one. Oh, what a summer indeed.
💛 Why This Story Hit - Wyndi and Israel’s slow-bloom connection — tender, grown, emotionally intentional. You feel them choosing each other. - The support systems — her friends and family, his friends and family… all messy, loving, protective in their own ways. - Israel’s reassurance — he never flinches at her pregnancy. He saw her heart first, and that’s what he fell for. - The conflict — real, human, rooted in fear and growth, not drama for drama’s sake.
🌿 What I Loved Most This book is tender. It’s kind. It’s grown‑folks romance with accountability. Israel doesn’t just love Wyndi ... he checks her when she’s wrong, stands beside her when she’s scared, and makes it clear that her pregnancy doesn’t make her less deserving of love.
And Wyndi? She’s soft, she’s learning, she’s stepping into a love that feels safe and earned.
Their relationship feels like watching two people finally exhale.
✨ Final Vibe A messy summer that turns into a mature, emotionally grounded love story. A heroine who deserves softness. A hero who actually shows up. A romance that feels like healing.
Overall I like this book. My first read by this author and the MMC wanted to step up and be a daddy to the FMC child. This book got some mess but overall good read.
This was a cute story with some playful banter. It’s a pretty low conflict, easy read. The MMC was very much on his “I’m the daddy even though I’m not the daddy” energy, and I actually appreciated how intentional he was in his pursuit of the FMC & wanting to step up for the baby. That said, I can definitely see how, depending on your headspace, that could come off a little… intense.
The FMC, on the other hand, frustrated me at times. She felt kind of immature, and honestly could have benefited from some time on someone’s couch way earlier than she gets it in the book.
I also wish we had gotten more on-page conflict with the teammate. With something as big as being pregnant by his rival, it felt like there was missed potential for more tension and drama there.
Overall, it was cute, quick, and had its moments but nothing that really stands out.
Ms Gray!!!!! This one right here…my goodness! When I say I literally laughed out loud when Wyndi and Kaynaan were talking about her government, that was hilarious! The back and forth banter between these two was top tier. I loved how Kaynaan stood on business, literally love at first sight. That man knew what he wanted and wouldn’t allow anyone to step in his way. He was so upfront with his feelings…my heart was about to explode. And his why, OMG, definitely didn’t see that coming but it made his character that much more obvious. You never disappoint!!!
I really do love a stepdaddy romance, and Keynaan was truly bae, but he put up with so much in pursuit of Wyndie and her baby. She was very immature and couldn't communicate worth a damn. At one point I wanted him to walk away because of her childishness. He got her together finally, and they both got the happily ever after they deserved.
Kaynaan had always been interested in Wyndi, but another man got in his way first. When the man fumbled Wyndi, Kaynaan didn't waste any time stepping to her. As they started to date, Wyndi got the shock of her life from her previous relationship. I loved how Kaynaan supported and looked after Wyndi. He was very intentional about the love he showed Wyndi. Wyndi did get on my nerves ghosting a good man like Kaynaan. He put his foot down with her, and she finally got some get-right. 😂 The baby coming to Kaynaan in his dreams was adorable and showed the deep connection he had to Wyndi and the baby. I couldn't stand Wyndi's sp3rm donor, Preston. He was sooooo trifling towards Wyndi and jealous of Kaynaan. Kaynaan's family fell in love with Wyndi except for ole bougie Georgia. 🙄 Lolo, Wyndi's friend, was ten toes down for her bestie, and I hope she will eventually get her own story. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. It had love, passion, and family secrets. I highly recommend it!!
I loved it. It was a really good feel-good story. The surety that Kaynaan had was everything. He was bold in his approach and he was beyond confident about everything. Wyndi was a true sweetheart, funny, and just a chill person. They met and were deceived by an outside force but when their worlds collide again Kaynaan stood on business and decided he was a permanent fixture in Wyndi’s life regardless of anything or anyone that may come their way. It was so different and refreshing in the best way possible. The storyline and stereotypes surrounding it made you think about the ways women are portrayed. I enjoyed it.
This release is from a author I had just heard about through a bookclub. Out of the blue I received this title in a giveaway. It started of with right amount of heat, but kind of slowed down when the MFC kept repeating herself and self sabotaging. She was really making me considering to DNF this title. But low and behold she finally got some act right. So now I am about to take a deep dive into this new to me author's catalogue.
I have read a lot of Tracy Gray’s books and normally it takes a while for things to heat up and for the couple to even meet and get to know each other to this point. I like the way she changed it up. It kept me more interested from the start to the end. Although Wyndi seemed like a sweet character, I got tired of her for a while because she really did need to go and get some help so that she could relax and enjoy Kaynaan. Kaynaan was that guy!
I love that this story. Kaynaan was coming for Wyndsor and he was on a mission to make her his. He was not playing and the love and attraction he had for her. I love that he claimed baby girl as his daughter.
This was a love story for sure. It really told the journey for Wyndi and Kaynaan. I would’ve loved to know exactly what happened with that other situation but it was nice to see the relationship between them develop.
OmgI loved me some Israel. The way he showed up and loved on Brown Eyes had me smiling throughout the entire book. I understood how she was feeling but I was excited when she finally stop running. Great read
Out living her best life with a younger man until it wasn’t so easygoing. Wyndi was older but needed something different after a traumatic first love affair. Kaynaan just rolling with the punches of his career until his sights set on her. She’s reluctant but he is adamant!!!
This story deserved 20 stars. Wendi and Kaynaan were so real. Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs to get to real King. I loved the way you intertwine all of the drama that Wyndi had to deal with to get to real love.
This was such a cute read. Wyndi’s summer fun turned messy by Kaynaan was about his business. I loved the family history and the fullness of the story.
Kaynaan said that “my baby”. We love a good step daddy and a man that chase his forever. And didn’t play no games with our girl. And I love that for us lol. This was cute love story and I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.
