- Testifying against your mobster father greatly reduces your life expectancy.
- Beware of blind dates with killer biceps and ulterior motives.
- Don’t even think about falling in love.
No one told mob princess Hope Whitmore how boring witness protection would be. So when her boss sets her up on a blind date, Hope throws caution to the wind. A girl’s gotta live a little, right? Wrong. Turns out her well-meaning boss secretly put her picture on a dating app, and Hope finds herself face-to-face with the father of the teenager she accused of murder.
Paratrooper Max Beaumont has uncovered evidence of his son’s innocence and tracked down the one witness who can set his kid free—on a dating app of all places—but it might be too late. Because someone else has found Hope too, and they’re dodging bullets before Max can offer to pick up the check.
Now they’re on a wild ride through the city of sin itself, Las Vegas, while outsmarting enemies, digging up secrets, and trying to ignore their crackling attraction. Because Max is exactly the kind of bad bet Hope should know better than to place. And Hope is proving even more distracting to Max than the killers in the rearview mirror. One way or another, this could well be their last first date ever…

FMC in witness protection solves crime with the father of the boy she helped imprison. Sounds interesting and fun, right?
But it’s a 3 act book. 1) fun caper with the over the top dolly and Kenny 2). Angst and investigation in Las Vegas, and a complete change in tone 3) resolution and epilogue (not much fun here either)
I liked it. You Only Die Twice is still my favorite by Brynn Kelly, but this was a good one. Enough twists to keep me interested, maybe one too many characters that by the end I was like “wait, who is that?”
Such an easy book to listen too, the story grips you from the first page until the last. I loved the character development and the love story that was woven throughout. This book doesn't really have any spice there is the small mentions but on a spice rating it's 1 outta 5, but that's okay because the story has you wanting to know more. The narrators were perfect for the characters and they brought them to life. It's an easy book to recommend.
I came across this free on Audible and figured I'd try something different than my usual type of book. Buuut, I'm not sure if it's the genre or the writing that wasn't for me, in the end. This was a bout a girl in witsec who finds out that her memory of the crime she "witnessed" was faulty and goes on a journey w the guy who she accused's dad. And falls for him along the way. My issue mostly laid with her having a faulty memory. It was hard to enjoy the book when such a fundamental aspect of the storyline bugged the crap out of me.
Other than that, the actual solving of the mystery was far too jumbled and jumped around too much w too many characters at the end, making it frustrating bc I mean, the key piece to anyone ready a mystery is them wanting to try and solve it with the characters. While I did guess the culprit, the author made it less fun, honestly.
On the positive side, I did like the main characters, despite the dmc talking about her aliases as actual characters she played and not herself... which was also dumb. Ugh, maybe I should stop commenting bc I did enjoy some of this. I didn't hate it. But I found a lot of it silly And yeah, I honestly was constantly critiquing it as I listened to it. Lol. But hey... I finished it. That's something.

This was a fun production. Not only was it a duet narration, but so many things were happening between these two. And that's how romantic suspense is. They have to have a shared trauma to make things truly romantic between them, if you know what I mean. I was not able to predict who the bad guy really was (it was unexpected, to be honest), but at least the ending was cute and sweet.
Picked this audio book sort of randomly to have some entertainment while doing chores and loved it far more than I expected. Pretty sure I did the same thing with another of hers, Once Upon a Crime. The characters were great, the story was well written, and the duet narrators did an amazing job!
Not sure what it was, but I found it a little difficult to connect to the story (pretty sure I’ve been experiencing a borderline reading slump the whole time I’ve listened to this book, so it’s probably that), but the ending was SO good. I didn’t expect the reveals at all. And the “she’s here” Part??? Woahhhhh 😦
3.75 this kept me on the edge of seat but the ending was smidge of a let down. I kind of wish they would have communicated in some way during those 9 months. Her showing up in France after 9 months was anticlimactic for me or would have been less so had we gotten an epilogue

Some Like It Lethal is a fast, playful, and high-energy romantic suspense novel that blends danger and attraction in equal measure. Brynn Kelly builds a story that never stays still for long, moving quickly between action sequences, emotional tension, and romantic escalation. The setup is strong, witness protection, mistaken identities, and a connection that forms under immediate threat. That combination creates a steady undercurrent of urgency, while still leaving room for chemistry and character development. What makes the story engaging is its balance. The suspense never fully overshadows the romance, and the romance never slows the momentum of the action. Instead, both elements feed into each other, keeping the pace consistent and entertaining. A fun, twisty romantic thriller that will appeal to readers who enjoy danger, humor, and chemistry under pressure.
This was a good one that I could not stop listening to. The characters were interesting and complex. Hope and Max are both strong characters who hold their own.
Hope is in witness protection after turning witness on her father and a young man who killed an undercover cop (her lover) and bashed her head, leaving her with a traumatic brain injury.
Max is the young man's father. He tracks down Hope in a dating misadventure with the desire to see his son free. They can't both be right, they can't both "win." So, how is it possible for them to ever have a happily ever after? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️❤️❤️🔥 Five stars for the overall story. 3 hearts for a solid romance storyline. And one flame for mild hot stuff 😉
This was a good read. Hope Whitmore is a mafia Princess in witness protection when her boss sets her up on a blind date she decides to go because her life is so boring. Turns out her well meaning boss signed her up on a dating app. Hope finds herself face-to-face with the father of the teenager she accused of murder. Paratrooper Max Beaumont has uncovered evidence of his son’s innocence and tracked down the one witness who can set his kid free on a dating app of all places but it might be too late because someone else has found her also. This was a good audio book with action and suspense. This was my first time reading listening to this author and my first time listening to these narrator's.
I listened to the audiobook version of this title, free on Audible Plus. With Duel narration (always the best way to narrate - the male does all of the male characters and the female does all of the female characters). Perfect.
The story is a lovely balance between murder/mystery and romance. One aspect doesn’t overwhelm the other. You’ll be blindsided by the conclusion - it is fabulous!
A lovely tale and very enjoyable. A comfortable read.
Rounding up from 3.5 stars. This book is a solid Action RomCom movie waiting to happen. Parts of it were a bit left field but it was really quite enjoyable. I loved that it was able to convey the MCs mutual feelings and attraction for each other without all the unnecessary spice. I liked all the bada** elderly ladies. They all were kicking but and taking names. I saw the ending coming but it wasn’t glaringly obvious so it made the story interesting.
They forgot some parts of the voiceover for Max!!! Hate when audiobooks are inconsistent like this!
The story was interesting compared to many other romcoms. I liked both characters and there was a good effort to flesh them out individually. I enjoyed the twist at the end and the story was fun overall, but the romance was just okay as they fell into bed way too fast.
Overall, a nice break from super serious genres I usually read.
Easy listening and it keeps your attention from the beginning. Hope is in witness protection after testifying against her mobster father. This was her fourth identity and it's about to become her fifth. Max enters her life and is about to blow it up. Loved the banter between Max and Hope. Kenny and Dolly are Hopes friends. They are funny, crazy and helpful when Hope needs it. The ending was kinda corny but it was a good one.
You know what I saw this on Audible and just pressed play. Didn’t look into didn’t know what, how, who or when… I really enjoyed this. Different from my romance fix but it still had romance along with the story which was pretty great. Love the dual narration loved the chemistry in the story and the audio. Loved the en tired thing.
I do like Kelly's writing and she has some witty lines. The story however fell very flat for me. There were a lot of twists and turns but you could predict the majority. There was so much racing here and there you didn't really get to know the characters. Still a fun listen but not the best from this author.
I wanted something easy to listen to, but then it turned into something that I couldn’t stop listening to. I found myself staying up late and telling others about the book. The characters are fun and I laughed out loud a few times but when the end came I was beyond surprised. Definitely worth a read
this was different than what I normally read, which is dark romance and more lately romantasy, but it wasn't a bad diversion from my norm.
I was in a reading rut and picked this one randomly. It wasn't a bad choice. I stayed engaged and interested in what was happening. The characters were good. If you are looking for a spicey romance this isn't it, there is nothing really descriptive going on but you know they have had sex.
Quick and enjoyable, a new author for me, but loved the style of writing.
This is the story of Hope/Hannah or maybe Fern/Rainbow - you'll understand as you read it, but ultimately its a story of Hope, Truth & Freedom, with a bit of undercover action thrown in on the side - I loved this, its a truly worthy read/listen 5*
Another great story by Brynn. Her Audible originals are an INSTANT add to library and listen. I didn't even read the blurb before just diving in and I wasn't disappointed. Twists, turns, banter... What a fun ride it was.
The story ended up being a fun who-done-it with a few unfortunate romance clichés, It’s a bit tiring how both the lead characters spend the whole time telling themselves why they can’t be together. The witness protection part is entertaining as well as the murder mystery.
Great story, if you enjoy a suspense romance with other plot points that aren’t just the romance then you’ll love this. Absolutely did not see the twist coming at the end and I genuinely feel so sorry for the FMC with how shitty her family truly was!
The narrator’s were perfect and I loved that they played themselves even in the other persons chapters.
Fun read, and would 100% recommend, especially as it’s included with your membership!
