When a vampire test subject from the lab shows up at my doorstep moments before sunrise, I have two choices: Let him die or let him in.
Dr. Rupert Martin works in a covert lab that’s experimenting with hybrid, test-tube vampires. If he’d known of their diabolical mission, he never would’ve agreed to work for them. But now he knows too much for them to let him go.
Sullivan, aka vampire Specimen 19, barely escapes his underground prison with his life. Gravely injured and with the sun about to rise, he has nowhere else to turn but to the one doctor who showed him kindness instead of cruelty.
While Ru and Sully navigate a dangerous path forward, an unexpected attraction blooms between them. Their chemistry won’t be denied. Can they take down the very lab that brought them together, or are they barreling fangs-first toward an inevitable disaster?

Sullied is a gay vampire romance featuring a touch-starved young vampire with a tragic past, his generous but fearful savior, a hidden cabin in the woods, a few different first times, and a vampire with a sweet tooth. It’s a standalone novel with no cliffhanger and a guaranteed happily ever after!
3.75⭐️ Sully, A sweetheart half vampire, born in a lab doing dubious testing on half vampires, escapes his prison. The only place he knows to go it to the home of Ru, the only person at the terrible lab that had ever shown him kindness.
This book will give you: -a super sweet half vamp with a sweet tooth -his golden/hearted saviour -a cat and a rat -forced proximity on the run
I liked this book! Sully was super adorable, and it did keep me interested until the end. The plot and side characters were a little meh (other than Zoe, she was awesome). But I did love the sweet relationship between the two MCs. If you’re looking for a sweet vampire romance with some plot, then this is for you.
My first vampire book in a while and it was pretty interesting. Quite light read, doesn’t take itself too seriously but definitely engaging. Sullied had endearing characters and fast paced action so if that’s your thing (plus vampires!), give it a try.
I devoured this book in one go. It was so freaking good.
Sully and Ru were sweet together. Sully was funny, sweet and adorable whereas, Ru had a big heart. Things could have turned out drastically different if Ru hadn’t taken a chance.
Brilliant book! Amazing characters and a few surprises thrown in along the way.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
“You’re afraid I don’t want you, but you’re wrong. Other people have told me what to do my entire life. Believe me when I tell you I’m ready to make my own decisions. And what I want, right now, on the couch, during this storm, is you.”
I typically only allow myself to take on 6ish arcs a year now because it can get a little overwhelming and I had to have this one. The moment I read the premise I just knew. Sully is absolute preciousness and he has survived so much and is so full of life and joy, I could not love this character more. And Ru, still experiencing grief and finding himself in a moral dilemma and a dangerous situation chooses to make the right choice when handed to him. Watching their relationship grow was wonderful and their chemistry on point!
Currently this is a standalone but I adore this paranormal world, and I think we need some more Vampires saved. Please give this a go so I can have more please!

I really wish we’d gotten more backstory before the plot moved into the II Tech side of things—especially about Sully’s life there and the people involved. I know this leans cozy, but Sully was held captive and subjected to cruelty, so a bit more depth there would’ve made a big difference. Also… what exactly does Ru do there? I needed more specifics.
Sully, though? An absolute gem of a character. A vampire who wants to stay warm, wrapped in animals (yes, a live cat and… a questionable rat situation), eats popcorn, watches The Great British Bake Off and True Blood, reads Twilight and Anne Rice (because vampires need role models), loves pizza and warm socks, moans over cream cheese frosting, knows way too much about lube and porn… and will still rip out a throat if someone threatens his mate. The range.
I genuinely couldn’t handle how sweet he was—fragile, soft, but still strong. He carried this book for me.
Also—Zoe?? Best human. No competition. Doing Sully’s skincare, putting eyeliner on him, brushing his hair, dressing him in fluffy clothes… obsessed with her.
That said, there were some issues that held this back for me. At times, Sully felt like he had a stronger emotional connection with Zoe than with Ru. Even during intimate moments, there was this sense that he was holding back—like he was scared or not fully present. When Sully had a major breakdown after realizing his sire never helped him during captivity, it was Zoe who comforted him, not Ru… and that stood out.
I was also expecting a much bigger emotional payoff during the bite scenes, but it just didn’t land. Ru’s reaction felt oddly muted—there’s even a moment that comes off as “have a go” energy the second time, which really killed the intensity for me.
Plot-wise, things ended up feeling a bit flat. The pacing rushed through important moments, and some explanations felt too thin to fully support what was happening.
I was so on board with the low-angst, super sweet vampire story packed with all the clichés—and I was enjoying it—but then the miscommunication started, and it didn’t feel natural. That opened the door to other issues I hadn’t been focusing on before.
In the end, I liked it, mostly because of Sully and the cozy vibes, but it didn’t quite deliver the emotional or plot depth I was hoping for. And now that cover just gives me creeps....
I received a copy of this book from GRR, and this is my honest review.

I've read other books by Lee Colgin before and have enjoyed them, so when I saw that they had a new/upcoming release I HAD to read it! This book was not what I was expecting, in a good way! Sullivan, aka Sully, is a hybrid vampire who just escaped from the place where he was created and held captive. He's never been out in the real world, never experienced the world around him, and has never tried the various human food that's out there. Until he escapes and turns to the only doctor who ever showed him kindness, Dr. Rupert Martin.
Rupert, also known as Ru, is a Dr at the underground facility that Sully escaped from, he always knew the hybrid was smart and kind, be he never expected for the vampire to show up on his doorstep bleeding and needing a safe space to hide.. He can't just turn the man away.. and that is where their story starts!
I thought Ru and Sully were absolutely adorable! Both individually as characters, and together as a couple! They are very different from one another but I think that's why they work so well together as a couple. Sully is so much fun to read about, he's so excited about everything since everything around him is so new to him! His love for frosting and popcorn was adorable, and I loved how passionate he was about doing the right thing.
Ru was equally as enjoyable to read about just in a different way, I really liked seeing how he slowly started to catch feelings for Sully and how he showed how he cared for the vampire in different ways. Even though his life got flipped upside down, he did everything he could to make sure Sully was safe, and I thought that was so adorable!
All in all, this was a very cute book! I will say that if you're looking for a 'darker' vampire story, this one probably isn't going to be for you. However, if you're looking for a sweetheart of a vampire finding love then I definitely recommend this book!
Another enjoyable vampire-human romantic suspense from Lee Colgin.
I read this a few days ago and forgot to write a review (mea culpa!) and details aren’t crisp, shall we say, but, I had a great time with Sully and Ru, and recommend the read!
Sully is a vampire-human, made-in-a-lab being who’s been kept in the lab all his life and underwent torture to fully form his vampire abilities and biology. He’s planned a daring escape…but it’s rough, and he winds up, helpless and desperately hopeful, on the doorstep of Ru, the one person in the lab/company who’s been kind and treated him like a person all this time.
Ru wants out of the lab, away from the horrors, and after a shocked moment, agrees to help Sully stay free and find a future. Little does he know, Sully has a plan to complete first, one that involves burning it all to the ground…
The inexplicably (given what he’s survived) sunny Sully brings light in the dark to Ru, confounding Ru with his trust and his growing friendship and…more. Sully knows Ru’s been complicit in his situation, but he also sees Ru’s strengths and humanity and wants to know this man better. And…better!
Virgin vampire and disbelieving-this-is-really-happening scientist physicality unlocks…! But what kind of future can they possibly have?
Strong emotions, fun plot twists and unexpected allies keep the story moving and held my attention throughout. Cheers to Ru’s bestie Zoe, and raise that glass higher for those allies, because they made chaos and danger…kinda fun.
Rescues and revenge and romance! What more can one ask?
Ah. I know what more one can ask. For a kick-ass vampire-rat sidekick! Twenty-four is a star. 🐀🌟🐀
HEA, PNR, vampire-human and human scientist, captive and sort of former captor romance. No OM action or drama whatsoever, beautifully focused on just these two and their seeming impossible situation. Safe for me. Recommended.
Sullied by was such a fun paranormal read with a really sweet romance at the centre of it.
Sully and Ru were adorable together. Sully, after escaping the lab where he was created and experimented on, is funny, curious, and surprisingly sweet despite everything he’s been through. Ru has such a big heart, and honestly, things could have gone very differently for Sully if Ru hadn’t decided to take that chance and help him.
I really loved watching Sully experience normal life for the first time...things like TV, popcorn, games, and just getting to live. Those moments brought a lot of warmth and humour to the story and balanced out the darker background really well.
The relationship between them develops slowly, but it feels genuine. They’re both a little awkward at times, but you can tell how much they care for each other. And once the spice finally arrives… definitely worth the wait.
The worldbuilding was also really engaging. There are a lot of interesting side characters—some lovable, some absolutely awful—and I’m really hoping a few of them get their own books because there’s so much potential there.
I do think I would’ve liked just a little more action/drama considering the setup, and there were a couple of plot threads I wish had been wrapped up more clearly. But overall, this was sweet, entertaining, and easy to get invested in.
If you enjoy paranormal romance with lab-created hybrids, found family vibes, danger, humour, and a genuinely lovable couple, this is definitely worth checking out
“Thank you, Dr. Martin.” “Rupert. My friends call me Ru.” I’m not sure what that means. “What should I call you?” His stare softens. He lets out a weary-sounding sigh. “Call me Ru.” My heart thumps. Friends. “I’ll try.”
I loved this book from the pulse-pounding start when Sully makes a desperate escape with his favorite rat, Twenty-Four, moments before the sun would rise and kill him. His only hope is placed in Rupert- the only doctor who showed him kindness. Ru barely hesitated before letting Sullivan in. He was kind and caring, and a good-hearted man. Sully was sweet and innocent. Very smart and innoventive, but had been purposely kept uneducated in regards to modern times and how to do much of anything on his own. It broke my heart. Rupert teaching him laundry was bittersweet.
'A little rush of excitement scrabbles through me, quickening my breath. It may sound stupid to anyone else, but I’m about to learn my first new life skill. Laundry. I can’t wait.'
I loved the both of them and the way their relationship develops over the course of the book. I also liked that Ru wasn't a medical or scientific doctor that is usually the norm of a doctor character in this type of dynamic in stories. Great world building and I was hooked to the story- suspenseful from the danger II Tech presented not just to their escaped vampire, but to their employee who was essentially just as trapped, and a beautiful hurt/comfort romance. I was completely emotionally invested in these two! 5 stars
I’ve been reading about vampires since LKH, literary daughter of AR. Both of these authors don’t stray too far from the current vampire stereotype of both dangerous and sexually attractive, which they helped to establish. Since these two, there have been almost every take on vampires imaginable and some unimaginable (e.g., sparkles). Lee Colgin has come up with something new to me in Sullied - breeding hybrid vampires in the lab. One such hybrid, Sullivan, escapes and shows up on the one good doctor, Dr. Rupert Martin’s, doorstep.
It was fascinating to see the world through the adult eyes of someone who hasn’t seen it all before. Sullivan has fairly contemporary English, but lacks knowledge of most 21st century technology, although he is a fast learner. His hero Ru is happy to play teacher, even though their future is not clear. Without disclosing any spoilers, Ru develops a plan and has a human friend who is able and willing to help.
The ending is very cathartic, even if I am neither a hybrid vampire nor a PhD in Arcane Systems (mine is in Strategic Management). I know the author made it very clear this is a stand-alone book with no cliffhangers, which makes me happy. I do wish, however, that they would return to this world and follow the exploits of another couple, post destruction of the evil lab. I received a free copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I've been a fan of Lee Colgin for a while now and I've come to pretty much know what to expect from one of their books - but this book surprised me in new and pleasant ways! I think it was the cadence of the narrative. It was very informal - like actually hearing the character talk. I really liked how it drew me into the story and held my attention. This book is a little more slow burn than perhaps some of the author's other works, but it completely fits with the characters of Ru and Sully. Sully ... Oh my sweet young vampire hybrid! I just wanted to wrap him and his little lab rat up in all the blankets and protect him from the evil of II Tech. Thank goodness he has Ru to step in and give him the space to find his footing outside of the lab/prison. Zoe is the ultimate BF and I was surprised, but happy, with the turn about Hayward. This story has so many subtle elements like the evils of species superiority and the moral ethics of lab specimens - be they animal or hybrid human. There's also a lot between Ru and Sully that is so sweet, even if you kind of want them to quit pussyfooting around each other. Trust me, it's actually the right timing and everything. Just enjoyed this so much and now I'm kind of hoping that there might be another book because I really want to know more about Hayward and his hybrid roommate. 🤔 Another great book by Lee Colgin and I highly recommend it! 5/5*
Dr. Rupert Martin is well paid for his work at Innovation Immortal Technologies. His job is to explore the powers and abilities of hybrid vampires, who were bred and raised in a lab. He is not happy with his job but is in too far to be allowed to quit. He is getting ready for work when a knock at the door reveals Sullivan (Specimen 19). He has managed to escape but is injured and the sun is due to rise. Ru was the only one to show Sully kindness and he hopes he will help. Ru cannot let him die. He brings him in for shelter but must go to work to avoid suspicion. As time goes on, the two men find an unexpected attraction but danger is coming their way.
Lee Colgin introduces us to an abundance of new individuals, some good, some not so good and some really not good. Sully had made excellent plans to escape but did not count on being injured, causing him to struggle to find Ru. His new life was quite different and he enjoyed experiencing new things, like TV, popcorn, driving, games, drinking and many other things as well. Ru was happy to help him along the way. It made for fun reading and a smile. This book had a little everything you could want – paranormal, humor, danger, great characters, an engaging plot, as well some hot MM times. I enjoyed reading it and this is your thing; you will as well. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Sully AKA Sullivan and Specimen 19 is a hybrid (human/vampire) made in a lab. He's spent his whole life there longing to be free. His life there hasn't been easy. He does have one shining part and that's Dr Martin. Now that he's escaped, he needs Dr Martin's help.
Ru AKA Dr Rupert Martin words behind the scenes at the II Tech company. He's not happy with his job or what the researchers are doing. He's planning his leave when Sully shows up at his door. Now his plans just went into overdrive.
This is a low drama, paranormal romance. Sully and Ru are so sweet and perfect for each other. Besides some lack of communication they are on the same page for where they're going. The sexy times are slow to come but when they do, they're hot. 🔥 We find that some characters aren't who we thought they were, some better some not. Sully and Ru find out who they can really count on. I loved Sully's attachment to Specimen R-24 and Specimen 3 AKA Hayword. I loved Zoe and that she's a strong/capable woman that's an integral part of the story. I hope the author writes books for Hayword, Caleb and Voijin. 🙏 I would've liked a little more action/drama. I felt like the book was a little too sweet/tame for the storyline. Also I would've liked a clear outcome of Oliver. It was left hanging as to is he gone or could he pop up later to cause trouble?
SULLIED is a standalone novel featuring Sully, a cinnamon roll vampire (almost literally!), and Ru, the kind-hearted doctor at the facility where Sully is kept. The book begins with Sully escaping and making his way to Ru's house, hopeful that the man will help him. What follows is a funny, sometimes sad story about Sully getting what he needs, and Ru supporting him (once he starts listening).
I really liked Ru, but I defy anyone not to love Sully! He is just everything rolled into one. He's soft, strong, fragile, and determined, plus a whole lot more. I loved every scene with him, especially the ones with Zoe.
While some comments are mentioned about the facility, it doesn't go into too much detail, but I was still mightily glad when I got close to the end of the book. And I would love to know more about the other vampires, Hayworth and Caleb especially.
While this is a slow burn, there are some s3xy scenes, which I (once again) thoroughly enjoyed. A great read and definitely recommended by me. 4.5 rounded up.

Dr. Rupert Martin works in a secret lab creating hybrid vampires, something he regrets once he learns the truth. When Sullivan — Specimen 19 — escapes, injured and moments from sunrise, he turns to the only person who ever showed him kindness. Ru takes him in, and as they run from the lab’s reach, danger grows alongside an unexpected attraction. Together, they must decide whether they can destroy the very place that created Sully before it destroys them.
I really liked the way Ru and Sully’s connection began with simple kindness — Ru treating Sully as a person who deserved care rather than a lab specimen. That early respect made their bond feel genuine, and Sully’s childlike delight at every new experience was one of the most charming parts of the story. I did find their shift from patient and caretaker to lovers a little strange at times, and honestly, Sully often seemed to have a stronger emotional connection with Zoe. Still, the story had plenty of feelings throughout, most of them carried beautifully by Sully, who really became the heart of the book. An enjoyable, emotional read with a unique dynamic and a memorable pairing. This was an MM story with mature content.
I like vampire novels and I like MM romance. This had an additional twist in that Ru works for a tech company which, so he found out after he began working there, experimented in producing a Vampire/Human hybrid. He is not happy there, but has a liking for one of the subjects. Sully, one of the vampire/human hybrids escapes and at the crack of dawn shows up at Ru's place who decides to keep him safe. Toss in that they are both gay, and love books, and cuddles, and Sully is quite keen to have new experiences, seeing he'd been kept locked up and away from the big world. Add a hybrid rat and Ru's deceased parent's cat, that likes Sully better than Ru, and Ru's friend Zoe who also helps when they have to get away in a hurry and does a little match-making of the "drop just the right hints" variety and there is a lovely concept for a story. While Ru wants to flee to some far away place with Sully, the latter has ideas of his own. Revenge ideas and wants to shut II Tech down. Will they succeed? Funny, romantic, cute, sweet, and some action saving the rest of the specimens and learning to get on with sires. A good story.
4.5/5 This is all about an evil corporation and their terrible experiments on vampires, but it has a low-angst, almost cozy feel for lots of it as Ru and Sully get to know one another and work to get Sully acclimated to the real world following his escape. (We get events after the fact and one more detailed remembered scene, if I remember correctly, but otherwise there isn’t too much about the experiments or imprisonment.)
I enjoyed the cozy time they spent together, how genuinely good Sully is (even with his “dark” streak), his love of sugar and carbs, and how protective Ru becomes. These two have an epic communication fail; while I didn’t like that part, they both recognized their fault and committed to being better in the future. I liked that they addressed it directly, as then it felt more like relationship growing pains.
Zoe is the best, the animals are cuddly, and I was very satisfied with the outcome for everyone. These two have definitely earned their HEA!
I received an ARC from GRR. This is my honest review.
OMG this was the best mm paranormal Romance, I have read in a long time. I really loved how the blurbs started off when it said, "When a vampire test subject from the lab shows up at my doorstep moments before sunrise, I have two choices: Let him die or let him in." That caught my attention straight out of the gate. Then I started reading and it was absolutely amazing. Dr Rupert Martin answered his door one day and a young vampire by the name of Sullivan was there. Sullivan was a young vampire with a tragic past and was seriously just in need of contact. As a blurb said he was touched starved and from there started this crazy amazing book. I will tell you this it was absolutely just amazing The chemistry between the characters and the romance part. The world was built up so beautifully I felt like everything fit together like a puzzle piece it just worked. This is the first time I've ever read anything by this author and I was just blown away. I look forward to reading so much more by this author because if this right here is how all of their books are then wow.
I love me some paranormal stories and always enjoy reading the variations that authors choose to use. Like sunlight, healing, strength, etc. Sully’s story is a first for me I think, as far as a hybrid vampire, and while his origin is awful, I enjoyed the different take. Sully is such a sweet, calm person who endured horrible things at the hands of evil people, and yet he kept his sunshine. Ru, while technically contributing to the evil, does not agree with it and is already plotting his escape from that life. Their relationship was inevitable and absolutely a well deserved happily ever after. I enjoyed the little twists and revelations and would not be opposed to reading more stories about the hybrids. There are alot of sweet moments and intimate moments, but they are not explicit scenes. Definitely more emotional I’d say. Overall I enjoyed this book start to finish and am very happy to have read an early copy.
Standalone. Paranormal. Close proximity. Slow burn. Dual POV.
Ru is trying to find a way to leave his job at an unethical secret laboratory when one of the vampire subjects/captives shows up on his doorstep bleeding and asking for help. Sully planned his escape and asking the only kind human at the lab to help him makes sense, but his crush can’t get in the way of his need for revenge.
This story has a sweet, innocent vampire finding comfort with a kindhearted scientist as they try to hide from the people that have hurt Sully in the past. With Sully’s naivete and Ru’s willingness to protect Sully, there is a sweet fall into feelings and hope for a future together that kept me smiling. I appreciated Ru’s hesitancy to take advantage of Sully and also how Sully has a maturity in knowing his own mind. I would have loved more about the found family of secondary characters, but overall really enjoyed Ru and Sully’s love story. 4.25
(Disclaimer. This review is based on an ARC i received from the author. )
Imagine the only world was a cell and you are just an experiment. For Sullivan, his whole life is dictated by people in lab coats for he is a newer version of a vampire.
Many of the coats have no regards of his feelings or his state of mind. Except for one. Dr. Rupert Martin.
Sullivan decided to escape and find the good doctor, only to face a new chance away from his prison or to die. Both men come to an upstanding and a lot new questions enter the space between them.
New life skills. ✅️ An appreciation for all things not trapped in the 1990's ✅️ A growing need for more than kindness check ✅️ A pet rat for company ✅️
This book deals with both men not loving the situation they are in and want to just leave but how is long and needs to be thought out. It's there when love starts to seep into their lives like a drops from a rain cloud. I would highly recommend it
I really enjoyed this different take on vampires. Dr. Rupert Martin takes a job at a covert lab thinking that it will be helping vampires and humans interact. Instead, he is working in a underground labs that experiments on vampires and makes hybrid vampires that are stronger but can still eat food. Unfortunately, they are still suspectible to sunlight. Rupert feels horrible and is trying to thin of a way to quit his job. He tries to teat the vampires with respect and is always friendly. Sullivan, Specimen 19, ranges to escape his underground prison and shows up at Rupert's home that he inherited from is parents for shelter. They two bond and start to fall in love. However, Sully plans to return to the lab to free the other captive vampires and literally burn the site to the ground. I enjoyed how Sully and Ru first became friends then lovers. I enjoyed some of the twists in the story with the older vampires and look forwards the next book in the series
Sullied is a paranormal romance about a vampire hybrid, Sullivan, who escapes a top-secret research and testing facility. In his escape, he runs to the one human who showed him any kindness, Dr. Rupert Martin.
I absolutely loved this story. The characters were sweet and personable. Dr. Martin, also known as Ru, is a sweet and rather timid man, but he finds himself wanting to protect Sullivan, or Sully, after he comes to him in his escape. Sullivan is such a vibrant personality with naivete and innocence due to his complete inexperience in life. I don't know why, but characters like Sullivan always make me love them. Maybe it's the innocence or the simple fact that he takes such pleasure in such small things. It reminds you to not take things for granted, something as simple as cream cheese frosting.
Lee Colgin is a wonderful writing, and I highly recommend checking out this book and this author!
70% enforced proximity, cosy, getting to know you and 30% revenge, burn the facility to the ground. Unfortunately, I'd rather the ratios were the other way round. Don't get me wrong, the scenes in the cabin were lovely but I wanted Sully to get his revenge. I wanted to see him save the other hybrids, I wanted planning and Sully and Ru to work together to that end. They didn't. Maybe if they had I would have been more happy with the ratio.
They didn't talk about storming the facility. Ru thought they were running away. And rather than talk Sully convinces Ru to let him feed and take more blood than he should so that Ru won't wake up when Sully steals his car to storm the facility with some half baked plan that relied solely on someone Sully didn't trust instead. I had other issues with the 'plan' but ymmv.
* communication issues * manipulation * vampire hybrid * trust issues * enforced proximity * vampire on the run

This was such an engaging, fast-paced read with a great mix of tension and tenderness. The setup pulls you in straight away from Sully turning up injured and desperate, and Ru having to make that split-second decision and from there it doesn’t really let go.
What stood out most was the dynamic between them. Sully, despite everything he’s been through, still has this softer, almost hopeful side, while Ru’s kindness and guilt over the lab make his choices feel meaningful. Their relationship develops quickly, but it works because of the circumstances and how much they come to rely on each other.
There’s a nice balance between the danger of the lab storyline and the quieter, more intimate moments between them. It keeps things moving while still giving space for their connection to grow.
Overall, a really enjoyable read with likeable characters, a bit of suspense, and a satisfying emotional payoff.
microwave popcorn & cream cheese frosting, GBBO, shoes in the dishwasher, spinny room, natural kisser, VoIP, noob arsonist, fungal thread
It's a clever book from Lee Colgin's amazing imagination. The whole idea of hybrid vampires being created in a secret underground lab is original and creative. Sullivan, 'Sully' is one such creation. He eats food like a human and needs blood in order to survive. Sully is the nicest and sweetest hybrid vampire. And he's wicked smart. He escapes from his underground prison and ends up seeking help from Dr. Rupert 'Ru' Martin, a humane and ethical lab scientist. How they fly under the radar of the lab is canny, and who comes to their aid is surprising. Sully wants to destroy II Tech and burn it to the ground. Ru wants to flee far away from the nefarious lab with Sully. It seems Sully has a dark streak under in him.
I enjoyed reading this very much. The ending is highly satisfying. I easily recommended it.
I love this author’s books. The story starts with Sullivan running towards the only person who was nice to him in the lab; Dr. Rupert Martin. He is bleeding due to the barb wire as he climbed over the fence. When he gets to his house, the sun is starting to rise and hopes the doctor will let him in. When Rupert opens the door and finds Sullivan, he is shocked until he sees the blood. He brings him in and takes care of him. Unfortunately Rupert (Ru) had to get back to the lab so there is no suspicion. This starts the story with how Ru and Sully get closer and Sully tries to take down the lab. I loved the progression of the story with both the MCs figuring out who they can trust. I would love to see more in this world, especially some of the other hybrid vampires and a look at the future with Ru and Sully.
I loved this book and couldn’t put it down! Sully is a hybrid vampire that has only known life in a lab. He escapes (with his favorite rat #24) and goes to Dr. Rupert(Ru), the person who showed him kindness. Ru is surprised but lets him in. A good portion of the story revolves around Sully and Ru’s growing closeness and Sully’s introduction to new things.
They are forced to lay low to keep the people from the lab finding him. I really liked Zoe. She was sassy and such a good friend to Ru and then Sully. Ru wants them to go far away to avoid the danger to Sully, but Sully wants to destroy and burn down the lab and rescue the hybrids that are still being held captive. There are a few good surprises and Sully is finally free. This book definitely left me with a smile on my face and I hope there will be more books from this world!

This was a mostly fun story about Sully, a hybrid vampire/human created in a lab, and Ru, a scientist who works for said lab.
Ru isn’t aware of what the company he interviews for actually does until he’s in too deep. Of course it’s an evil government plan dealing with creating hybrid vampire/human specimens which are studied and tortured and kept caged. Sully is one of those specimens who escapes and runs to Ru’s home as Ru was the only researcher there who showed him kindness.
It’s an interesting story and idea and I loved Sully. He’s sweet and broken yet so strong. You cannot help but cheer for him. Ru is likable but ultimately kind of dull and I just didn’t feel their chemistry.
