Rate this book
She ran from danger. She found a warrior.

Former Marine, Archer Stone, doesn't do emotional attachments.
He does perimeter checks and threat assessments with his brothers at Carolina Security, where protecting people is straightforward and feelings don't complicate the mission.

Until he meets Harper Lawson, a beautiful red head with a secret, the voice of an angel, and a stalker who’s been escalating for months.

When the stalker's obsession turns deadly, Archer vows to keep her safe at any cost.

But for Harper, protecting her heart from the grumpy Marine soon becomes harder than evading the stalker.

Will she finally find the strength to stop running when there’s nowhere else to hide?

Anna believes the best heroes are the ones who'd burn down the world for the woman they love, and that a good romance should keep you up way past your bedtime.

When she's not writing about heroes with soft hearts and the strong women who make them work for it, Anna can be found rewatching New Girl, perfecting her grandmother's turnover recipe (still a work in progress), or plotting her next trip. She lives in the Midwest for now, with her busy family, four rescue cats, and an alarming number of half-finished home improvement projects.

This book was great right up until it wasn’t. Towards the end we are lead to believe that an ex-marine and security specialist is overtaken by a guy who he should have had on the ground and in cuffs in 3 seconds flat. The entire fight scene went from having me on edge one second to then saying, “You have got to be kidding me”?

Losing her grandmother was the last of Harper Lawson’s living family members and now she couldn’t even grieve properly thanks to a nut-case following her around the country. With her dreams of a singing career hanging in the balance if something didn’t change soon she turned to Carolina Security as a last ditch effort when danger suddenly found her in the one place she thought she’d always be safe.

Ex-Marine and security expert Archer Stone is immediately drawn in by Harper’s fear. With the increased gifts and chaotic messages continuing, the deranged stalker’s efforts are escalating. Harper feels more exposed and hunted by a man unhinged in his sick delusions leaving Archer more determined than ever to stand between the woman who owns his heart and any danger.

I received an ARC and freely offer this review.

Harper, an up and coming Country music star, is in Carolina Bay to clear out and decide what to do with her grandmother's house which played a big part in her growing up. She has a stalker who followed her and is escalating, so she hired Carolina Security to protect her. Archer, a retired Marine becomes her bodyguard. Neither want or need a love interest in there lives, but the sparks between them are too strong to ignore. As the stalker continues to plague Harper, she and Archer gain understanding and feelings for each other. When the final confrontation happens, Harper and Archer help save each other and they no longer deny their feelings. This is a book full of complicated characters who learn to trust each other. I enjoyed getting to know Harper and learn more about Archer. I received an ARC of this book, but the opinions are my own.

Hits all the boxes

I like that the relationship had time to build and was not thrust in your face from the get go. You had time to feel the threat from the stalker, the back and forth of the attraction with Archer which allowed the pressure to build every time the stalker slipped through their fingers. More confident with writing a security-related romance.

Bring together an up and coming country singer, an alpha Marine trying to be professional, and insane stalker and you have yourself one amazing romatic suspense!!! Archer and Harper have a connection that jumps off the page, but Archer's professionalism creates an agonizing slowburn along with a crazy stalker determined to have Harper for himself

This is the second installment in the new Carolina Bay series. I received an advanced copy of the book, but my review is honest and voluntary. Harper is an up and coming country music singer who is being stalked by a madman. Everywhere she moves he seems to find her. When he finds her again, she hires a security team with a bodyguard, Archer. If you want suspense, a little romance and some sizzle, you have found it! It was very interesting to see the role that social media played in the story, as it seems to be everywhere in our lives. I highly recommend!
