Betsy Evans has lost everything—and for the first time in her life, she has nowhere left to turn.
After her father’s death leaves her burdened with crushing debt, Betsy has only one desperate a marriage arranged through a matrimonial agency. Within an hour of meeting Samuel Jones, she becomes his wife—and sets out on a journey west to the untamed Idaho Territory, clinging to the fragile hope that love can grow in time.
But her new husband is distant, guarded, and seemingly uninterested in anything beyond the bare legal bond between them.
As they travel across dangerous terrain where every mile threatens their lives, Betsy finds herself battling more than the wilderness. Loneliness gnaws at her resolve, and with each passing day, she wonders if she has traded one kind of ruin for another.
Yet beneath Sam’s cold exterior lies a past he refuses to share—and a heart he may not be able to keep closed forever. In a land where survival is never guaranteed, Betsy and Sam must learn to trust each other… or risk losing not only their future, but the one chance at love neither of them expected.
Susannah Calloway loves everything Western! And if a delightful romance is thrown into the mix, ahhh!, even better!
Susannah has always been intrigued with the Western movement - prairie days, mail-order brides, the gold rush, frontier life! As a writer, she's excited to combine her love of story with her love of all that is Western.
Presently, Susannah lives in Wyoming with her hubby and their three amazing children. (Her little cowpokes!) The whole family enjoys riding and grooming their four horses! (Belter is Susannah's favorite!)
Betsy accepted an invitation to marriage from Sam. Betsy had nothing after her parents deaths and she sold most everything to pay debts. She met Sam and he hardly talked she felt so alone. But as they traveled he seemed a little more open. They are both going to be Surprised when they realize how the other feels. Great short, western romance.
This was absolutely a great book and by a great author. I highly recommend this book and author. I can’t wait to read the next book by this wonderful author.
