Mia Traverse is a concierge for Hush and loves solving puzzles, so when she discovers a dead body in the Hush nightclub where a Hollywood producer is shooting a movie, she decides to pull in all her connections and try to help out with the mystery. Bax, the detective in charge of the case, is all for using Mia as his informant, since she can get information that he can't. But that means he can't pursue the attraction that's building between them. As they get closer to finding out who the killer is and their feelings for each other become deeper, Mia attracts the attention of the murderer and Bax wants her out. She agrees, but continues to help out in the background. And of course, now that she's no longer an informant, they're free to be together. But Bax has plans to leave once this case is over, if he and Mia survive the investigation, will he be willing to set aside those plans to pursue a future with her?

All in all a fairly easy read and I usually prefer a story that has a bit of mystery or suspense to it. Surprisingly, the romance between Mia and Bax was a bit of a slow burn - I mean I didn't even get any chemistry from them until they'd been working together for a while. Then it was nothing but chemistry and a bit of insta-love. I did struggle with some believability, particularly the fact that Mia gets her hands on evidence through suspect means and Bax catches her with it, but never once suspects her...especially since she found the body. Not to mention that she basically made that evidence completely inadmissible. As she did later on as well. So she was good at getting information, but really bad at the legal procedure stuff.

Still, this was still going along just swimmingly with some pretty good mystery and a nice, steamy romance between them when Mia became TSTL. Knowing that someone had tried to kill her (but not knowing who), she'd been holed up in a Hush suite under guard. But with help from her concierge friends, she manages to track down a suspect and when she can't get hold of Bax immediately, she sets out to follow the suspect, putting her life at risk (though evidently she doesn't believe it is?). He calls her and begs her to return to the hotel, admitting his love to her, but she refuses and ends up in a hostage situation. She thoroughly proves that solving the puzzle was more important to her than Bax's love and concern for her. And he isn't even angry with her for it, nor does she apologize. I couldn't forgive her selfish behavior. And in the end, his decision to give up his plans to stay in a job he hates because he'll have Mia to help him investigate was kind of a ridiculous ending. I would have better believed him becoming a private investigator, since he can't actually use her to help with his investigations, can he? We're back to the whole informant problem. It's not like she's much help unless the crime takes place in a hotel anyway.
So that bit of ending didn't really make sense and I didn't really buy his reasons for staying in NY and remaining a cop, because all those reasons for leaving are still there.

Fun and sexy with a little bit of murder!
4 stars

A movie is being shot in and around the world famous erotic hotel Hush, so concierge Mia Traverse definitely has her hands full. And that's before she stumbles over a very dead body in the basement club. A murdered, dead body!

Detective Bax Milligan can't wait until he leaves the force in a few months and he needs all the help that he can get solving this most high profile of murders. But he hadn't counted on the sexy, CSI addict, Mia becoming the Watson to his Holmes and reviving that long forgotten thrill of solving a crime and triggering a few new thrills at the same time.

When Mia's life is put in danger it's up to Bax to protect her - and his bed seems like the safest place to do just that. But is it safe for either of their hearts?

I am pleased to see that Blaze's Do Not Disturb series is back again and we get to revisit the wonderful Hush hotel with another sexy and fun story.

Mia is a girl who loves her job and is lively, interesting and determined to solve a crime. Thankfully, she also wasn't a heroine that was ridiculously stupid although she did manage to get herself into a few scrapes that she needed saving from. Bax was slightly jaded without being a stereotype and a deliciously rugged hero. Together the pair were a perfect match and a cute crime fighting duo.

The sex scenes were both hot and sweet although it was maybe the latter that stopped them from scorching the pages. But they still were enjoyable.

The mystery was engaging and engrossing and I certainly didn't immediately guess who was the main culprit of the murder as there were so many pieces to the puzzle in the end. Those more used to reading or watching murder mysteries might disagree, however!

Overall, this is a well-written, welcome return to Hush hotel that is entertaining, sexy and definitely worth a couple of hours of your time. 4 stars.

Jo Leigh: Coming Soon

This Harlequin thriller romance fell flat. It follows an about-to-be-retired detective partnering with a hotel concierge where a murder happened at an upscale hotel. Too many dumb troupes, such as:

• Damsel in distress
• Love at first sight
• The woman needs the man and can't think logically without him

Yeah, it was giving DNF, but I did, unfortunately.

⭐️—Do not recommend. Yawn and vomit

When a New York hotel concierge stumbles across a dead body in one of the premier locations in her hotel, she puts herself right in the middle of the investigation. Really, solving a crime and solving a puzzle or request for a guest isn't all the different, right? Wrong... hotel guests don't usually try to shoot you. She's not on her own, though.. and quickly finds herself in bed (literally and figuratively) with the detective on the case.

It started off a little slow and I wasn't sure if I was gonna be as into it, but about 1/3 in I got hooked. Once you finally get to know Mia and Bax a bit more, well, you fall in love. Both are so adorable. And the suspense and intrigue were fabulous! Lots of wit and sweet moments of dialogue between the two. THoroughly enjoyed it!
