Miles Carter’s life is officially a disaster. After a breakup leaves him sleeping on a couch, he moves into a cramped, leaky apartment with walls so thin he can hear his neighbor breathe. He’s determined to make a fresh start, even if his first day involves shattering a box of his favorite mugs all over the stairs.
Enter Kai Mitchell.
Tall, tattooed, and relentlessly grumpy, Kai is the mechanic across the hall who communicates mostly in single syllables and acts of service. He sweeps up Miles’ broken mugs. He fixes his plumbing at midnight. He lets his rescue dog, Rex, adopt Miles as his own. Kai is a man who fixes things, and Miles is a man who has been told for years that he’s too broken to be loved.
What starts as shared evening dog walks and shared coffee turns into something electric. The walls between them are paper-thin, but Kai’s emotional walls are built of granite. As the simmering tension finally boils over into a blistering, undeniable heat, Miles has to prove that he’s not too much, and Kai has to learn that he’s allowed to keep the things he fixes.
Good Boy Next Door is a high-heat, grumpy/sunshine, neighbors-to-lovers MM romance featuring a chatty barista, a stoic mechanic, rescue dogs, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Miles & Kai had one of the best meet-cutes I’ve read. The communication was on point too. I love when men are vulnerable and they each had their moments. I only wish we had more scenes with their friends. Juno especially had me cracking up. I look forward to reading more.
So much swoon, so much heartwarming emotion, great communication and working through hard moments, it was really nice to see healthy conversation. Both characters extremely likeable and relatable. I felt like the end was slightly drawn out but it didn’t take away from the endless hug that it gave me.
