Blush #5

Putting It To The Test

Rate this book
She did it! Sweetly shy Carly Abrams, programmer extraordinaire, cheated on the sex survey. This way, she's guaranteed to be paired up with infuriating (but no less delectable man-thing) coworker Matt Jacobs on a new account. If she's caught, she'll be neck-deep in pink slips. Unfortunately, working closely with Matt could land her in deeper?and much, much hotter?water....

Turns out Matt and Carly couldn't be more suited for each other...sexually. And when Matt discovers that Carly's cute exterior conceals thoughts lusty enough to make a porn star blush, he can barely keep himself from pulling her into an empty office, locking the door and putting the sex survey's results to the test...but good!

An Oregon native, Lori Borrill moved to the San Francisco Bay Area just out of high school and has been a transplant Californian ever since. Her weekdays are spent at the insurance company where's she's been employed as a data analyst for over twenty years. The bulk of her evenings are spent at the Little League fields cheering on her son.

Lori started writing in June of 2004 after her husband left his job to pursue his dream of owning a business. Not only did the move help ease their hectic schedules, but he became a solid example that those dreams that seem impossible can often come true. She proved that point herself exactly two years later when Kathryn Lye called to tell her she'd sold to the Harlequin Blaze line.

Lori claims it was the eHarlequin.com community that prompted her to write her first novel. "After reading countless romances, I saw the Web address on a book and decided to check it out," she says. "At the time, I was just looking for writer's guidelines, but the moment I clicked into the Learn To Write forum, I was amazed by the volume of information available to aspiring writers. They really came across like they wanted me to try this." Since then, she's been an active member of the eHarlequin.com community, finding all of her closest writing friends through the site. "What propelled me from novice to published author were the people I've met through the Harlequin boards," she says. "I've made some treasured friendships with talented authors who not only helped me hone the craft, but have become a system of support I can't imagine writing without."

This cover is so not what I picture the characters to be, but oh well.

Other than that, I loved this book. It was really cute. Maybe I just like work related romances. The heroine, Carly, is a very talented web designer. Matt, the hero, is her rival and her personal fantasy buddy. But it seems the tension is on both sides. Matt has always liked Carly, but he just happens to say the stupidest things when he's around her. For the next project, the main designers are matched according to a Singles survey, in which Carly cheats to be matched with Matt, after finding out that he was already preselected for the position. They ended up being paired, which is only the start of the problem. Mix is some sexual tension, a few family problems, and ONE promotion, and there you have it.

The reason I like this so much is that Matt isn't really a playa. He's kinda bad with people to people interactions. And he liked Carly since he started working with her. Carly's quite sweet. She does cheat, but we can understand why she did so. And her insecurities toward Matt makes sense, though overall, she's really forgiving. I don't like her father either.

My favorite part of the book: the cat, mr. doodles, or something and Matt's interactions. The love scenes are very hot and enter into the world of kinky, but nothing we all can't handle. The office sex scene - whoa! *fans self

Worth a read. More than that, it's a favorite on my shelf. The characters are amusing and the relationship builds naturally. I wish the end was less rushed (some scene jumping), but nothing too painful.

Hot office romance from Blaze
4 stars

Sweet and bubbly website designer, Carly Abrams, is fed up being overlooked for promotion. When the office staff are asked to complete a survey to find out which man and woman are most suited for a big job, Carly does the only thing she can think of and cheats - sex questions not withstanding!

But now she is paired with designer extraordinaire Matt Jacobs - the most irritating and infuriating (not to mention gorgeous and delectable) man Carly has ever laid eyes on - to work together on a top project. If anyone finds out she matched her answers to his then she's in big trouble!

Despite the lies - it seems that Matt and Carly couldn't be more suited - sexually at least. But the pair are combustible, in and out of the bedroom and when they have to fight for the same promotion - the survey results are really put to the test.

I really liked the idea of this story and the goings on within the office that spring from a naughty survey!

Carly was a fun character that you could identify with although perhaps not as in depth as the character of Matt - a typically arrogant, alpha bad boy. Together the pair were delicious and their chemistry scorched the pages. Although there was talk of kinky sex - most of it in the book was fairly vanilla, but still very hot and exciting.

I thought the story ticked along wonderfully and really captured me until about 3/4 of the way through when things slowed down and it just didn't sparkle as much as the first part. Having said that, it was still interesting, engaging and well-written with the required happy ending.

If you like stories about office romances that are hot, sexy and fun - you really can't go wrong with this book. Recommended and worth 4 stars.

Hottie Hottie sex scenes! Hotter than I expected from a Harlequin....you never know which ones will be hotter and which ones use the scary euphemisms. This was a good steamy read!

Ekskyusmeeey karepmu piye to su?

Gini, awalnya aku berniat mau ngasih ini 3 bintang karena cukup menghibur. Hawt juga ehehe. Klimaksnya oke aku suka (klimaks konfliknya loh ya, bukan klimaks yang lain #BHAK).

Tapiiiii ... penyelesaiannya jelek banget. Banget! Kayak ketika you naik roller coaster, pas dipuncak gunung(?), tiba2 mesin mati dan you disuruh turun pake tangga tali. Duh, nggak juga sih. Bingung juga aku cari analogi.

Intinya resolusinya jelek banget (iya iya, ngeyel amat).

For a book related to office relationship, this one stress more to love scene than the work related scene. It amazed me that the two friends of Matt and Carly are both functioned as their ears and they usually right. I don't like Carly's attitude on judging Matt based on the way she wants to be treated. Their romance is forced and the ending is way too convenience for my taste

Eh. Felt that the story was boring. The sexy parts were pretty good but I wasn't feeling the actual plot.

This book did a couple of things really, really well.
I loved that Matt wasn't a player at all, and that all of their problems originated from him not being able to act normal around her because he was attracted to her. I loved that we get the feeling that she is really, really pretty, because we constantly see her through his eyes. And then suddenly we see her through her own eyes, and she turns out to be more on the average side, cellulites included. When that culminates in the very hot mirror sex scene, I felt myself melt into a puddle, because damn how he made her see her through his eyes.... That's the stuff romance should be made off.

Unfortunately the great characters and romance were set in the world of webdesign, and it felt so incredibly dated already. Plus neither Matt nor Carly seemed really good at the whole webdesign thing. And I don't think I would want to work in a place with a boss like that. This disappointed me, because the setting was the big reason why I wanted to read this. After all, I love my heroes and heroines on the geeky side.

To top that off I didn't like the resolution of the job conflict, and definitely felt like Carly got the lowest end of that stick.

So great romance and characters, but they featured in the wrong book.

Probably more of a 3.5 stars -- something about Carly rubbed me the wrong way personality-wise, but I honestly can't for the life of me define what it is...love her sweet, sunshine-y optimistic side...*shrugs* Hot, steamy, and the misunderstandings weren't so ridiculous and didn't go on forever...there was actually happiness in the middle, which is nice b/c then they just need to get back to what they found, you're not sitting there wondering how you're supposed to believe they are in love, kwim? So, in case this review confused you as much as it is currently confusing me -- I liked it. Characters were cute, chemistry was awesome, scenes were steamy. Checkmark.

How pleased I was to see a romance novel about web designers! Though it'd make my heart sing even higher if it was about graphic designers (I do aim to write one, you just wait). Even though I was holding out for cheesy quips over cross-browser compatibility and kinky HTML tags, this was a touching story about conflicts of interest between two ambitious and uncertain people. And the secksing is uber sexy, very bad. ;)

Parts of this were super fun, but others.... C'mon. If you're going to bill yourself as a creatively sexy book, it might help if you're going to be creatively sexy. I wasn't very impressed. Spend a few days in fandom, then you'll see creativity. *g* I guess I'm just way beyond mainstream.

Steamy. Steamy. Steamy. Much steamier than I believed it to be, compared to other Harlequin books, which in all are just cute. This was fun, but more intense than usual.
