This book is the product of a person who worked for the Sea Grant program in California for many years but who also became accomplished at fish prints ("gyotaku "), an artistic method of actually ink-printing whole fish on special paper. The book is therefore an unusual combination of beautiful art with detailed scientific and economic information about each family or species -- along with some cooking tips, a glossary, and an explanation of the artist's techniques.
