First part: ‘This is my dream come true’ against ‘I don't believe he won't turn me in, my life will be ruined, I must kill him but not today’ on repeat.
Second part: smut.
Very low-angst even by my standards. So, I got a bit bored, stopped at 50%, came back for the kinky smut and finished the book somehow. Maybe I just read it at the wrong time. Still, I had a fair bit of fun.
Dirty talk was filthy hot tho. When the fuck did Zane learn to talk like that?? That's the power of porn and smutty audiobooks right there, people.

It’s about a gentle big guy and a totally unhinged dark-romance-obsessed little psycho who get locked into a hilariously chaotic kidnapper/victim dynamic after a series of brain-empty mistakes. Fueled by Mason’s sheer devotion to dark romance tropes, Zane accidentally unlocks a brand new kink and they instantly click, taking their physical and emotional connection to a whole new level! 🔥💀
The first half is that kind of low-budget, fast-paced crime comedy, and I laughed so hard so many times that my neighbors probably thought a car alarm was going off! The crazy part? Even though it’s packed with internal monologues—and my middle name is literally 'Internal Monologue Hater'—I was totally hooked! They're not bloated at all, they're freaking hilarious, and honestly, they're super necessary to explain what makes these characters tick.
But let’s be real, Zane is so NOT villain material!🤣 A kidnapper voluntarily babysitting and pampering his hostage is equal parts hilarious and sweet. And once Zane finally gets a clue🔞—BOOM! The smut hits the accelerator and goes straight down the highway!🔥🔥🔥 Some of these scenes are insanely creative! It’s kinky as hell while still feeling completely safe and consensual, which just makes their chemistry and bond grow stronger by the day. 🔥
What made me even happier is that Mason and Zane’s connection actually expands beyond the bedroom into their daily life and work. It gives their whole dynamic a solid foundation and makes their long-term future feel so much more grounded and believable! ❤️
The writing here is so clean and tight, proving once again that a low-stakes, slice-of-life romance doesn't need several hundreds of pages of bloated fluff just to cross the finish line! 👏✍️
The only thing that could've used a bit more work is Zane's hidden interest—there wasn't enough buildup, so he went straight from 'ex-straight guy' to full-on 'gay BDSM expert' overnight!

This was absolutely unhinged delulu chaos and I was here for every single bit of it!
First, I feel like I need to mention that the only reason I didn’t devour this like I wanted to was because we had some super “fun” house situations going on that took a lot of time to deal with the last few weeks aka leaks and dealing with home insurance 🙃 No fault of this book at all!
It was so funny, but also unhinged and it was such a unique read! This definitely could give the vibe that’s it’s dark, but there was never any real danger for these guys, even if they didn’t know it themselves sometimes.
If I forget about the whole not-being-able-to-leave part, this basement is basically a luxury hotel, and he’s my servant.
The second half was very kink and spicy heavy. But honestly it still felt natural for them? There wasn’t a whole lot of plot outside of the kidnapping turned “real life book boyfriend” trajectory that Mason will take no criticism on 🤣 but again it just hit what I was needing so perfectly.
The whole thing is a wild ride, and you definitely have to be willing to over look some logic, but if you want something unique, spicy, and hilarious this is a great choice. Especially if you want something that feels dark / Halloween ish vibes without actually being scary or dark at all.

But I was not enjoying it, my brain kept on tripping up on technicalities.
Mason was imprisoned, tied up to a pole. For days. While left alone as his captor went to work. And he kept his cheery demeanor and kept on being horny and suggestive. All while I was getting enraged on his behalf.

It was ok while maintaining 1001 Arabian Nights (Scheherazade) vibes.
But after that it fell through for me.

I'm a big dark romance hater, seriously I could talk so much about why I hate it, anyways, color me surprised that I was intrigued by this book.
At some point it almost felt like a parody which I LOVED.
The first third to half of the book was hi-la-ri-ous. I cried laughing.
Mason was just so fucking delusional it was *chefs kiss
The second half though? Meh. It was basically just sex.
Like I said, I absolutely adored the book before they started to become intimate. Mason is such a lil freak, not just in the bedroom but in general. He saw Zane and thought, yep that's my man.
Zane was 'normal' at first but Mason's got to him real quick. He awoke some dark side in him.
They are perfect for each other. They became obsessed with the other quite quickly actually.
Zane struggled more with his "dark side awakening" than his bi awakening. Understandably so. His bi awakening seemed very realistic to me. It wasn't instantenous acceptance but at no point did it feel like homophobia.
I find too much sex in a book to be extremely boring. Here, like I said, half the book was only sex, it was okay though. Didn't love it but with the variety of scenes, it was always something exciting and new.
I personally hate this 24/7 bdsm dynamic though. Don't even get me started on the collaring shit. I don't understand it at all. In the bedroom sure, but whyyyy does anybody want to be owned by some other person. 24/7. Ugh no.
Not my cup of tea like I said but they truly fit perfectly together.
The 'get to knows' were unfortunately glossed over, except the sex ones. I would have loved to see more cute and swoony moments between them. I really like them as a couple but I can't even judge their connection outside of the bedroom because it was just sex sex sex.
The epilogue was, unfortunately, very underwhelming. It would have been a great opportunity for the authors to add a sweet scene but it just BARELY showed what they were up to the last couple of years.
My review sounds kinda negative but I actually really enjoyed the book. While the many sex scenes weren't my thing, their "meet cute" is reason enough for me to really like the book.
I guess, moral of the story. If you find someone attractive, be crazy, follow them and maybe they will be your soulmate?

Enjoyed it until their dynamic got a little too out there for me, though even then, I found Mason a little too ridiculous BUT maybe part of it was the voice his narrator used?
And once it annoyed me, I couldn't bring myself to switch to reading, I was just done.

Lexi & Bec done it again because as soon as I opened this book I couldn't put it down, I was laughing and agreeing with Mason many times, their dynamic and banter was amazing and I was full swoon!! Zane tried to fight how he felt and stick to his original plan but in the end he just couldn't resist Mason. 😮💨🙂↔️
If you love masked men and dark romance but make it campy this is the book for you!

This was fun, cute, funny and sexy. Nothing deeply moving, but it’s not supposed to be. There isn’t much plot outside of the accidental kidnapping in the beginning. It was fun seeing all the dark romance tropes come to life in a not-dark dark romance 🤣

Okay, this was SO much fun. 😭 The premise alone had me hooked, and getting inside Mason’s head made everything even better because this man genuinely wants to live inside a dark romance novel. Like… sir, be careful what you wish for. 😂
Once Zane enters the picture, everything goes completely off the rails, and the way the whole dynamic goes from an accident, the need to kill, and the idea of kidnapping, along with all the misconceptions surrounding it, just made everything funnier and funnier. Mason was so unhinged and little psycho, I loved it.😭😂 He literally saved his own freaky ass like that, btw.
I loved watching how his dream of being in a dark romance somehow starts becoming his reality while Zane’s plans go very, very differently from what he initially thought. The whole situation was ridiculous in the best way, and I was having such a good time watching it unfold.
It’s short, fast paced, spicy, and there’s genuinely no dull moment. If you’re looking for a dark romcom with an absolutely unhinged premise and plenty of chaos, this one is definitely worth picking up. 😂

This book was criminal. CRIMINAL. We are back, baby, we are back.
Lexi and Bec did it again. They wrote a story that gave me all those fuzzy feelings, all the giggles, everything that I love their books for.
The way I laughed out loud reading this book. The way I kicked my feet at how adorable these two were. Ahhhhh... I am obsessed.
This is one of the most hilarious books I've read in a LONG time. Dark rom-com indeed. I bet the audiobook will be a riot.
The premise of this book is so silly I can't even. Like...seriously, so silly and unserious, and these two are a mess in the best possible way.
Mason is so unhinged and psychotic I could cry. If "delulu is the solulu" would be a person, it would definitely be Mason. And Zane, omg, Zane... 😅 this poor guy was basically bullied into falling in love with Mason. I am telling you, laughing out loud for hours.
The premise of this book, as I menrioned is silly, but when I tell you they're both EXACTLY WHERE THEY WANT TO BE... believe me. They are. No one is leaving this premise. Everyone stays put.
The dog mixup name was another fun thing, and that dog was the comedic relief we needed between all the crazy. But seriously, if I were Mason I'd be pissed that my dog sided with my kidnapper. Traitor. 🤣 I guess the only reason he didn't is because Piet actually helped him wear down Zane. I'm telling you, that man didn't stand a chance in the path of our little psycho dark romance reader. He was on a quest to live all his fantasies and no one, and I mean no one, not even Zane could stop him.
The car scene with the audiobook almost 💀 me. The way the coca cola I was drinking flew up my nose was no joke. I almost 💦 my pants laughing so loud.
Now, jokes aside, for how fun this book was, I did not expect the level of spice we actually have in there, and the kinks that were explored in this book were top tier. I am so happy to see Lexi and Bec try to write something more hardcore and I am pleased to see how good they actually were at it. That knife play scene and that primal play one? 10/10 - standing ovulation. Hawt DAMN. 🥵🥵🥵🥵

I don’t know why I’m always surprised by how good Lexi and Bec’s are going to be but I certainly was with this one. I really don’t know what I was expecting but it certainly was not this. I was pretty much laughing throughout the whole book.
This rom com had me in my feels. It starts off with Mason just being ridiculous. All he’s doing is getting food at a restaurant and when he sets his eyes on Zane, it’s all over. He’s so determined that Zane and him would be perfect together. All the man did was become his waiter.

I don’t know why I’m always surprised by how good Lexi and Bec’s are going to be but I certainly was with this one. I really don’t know what I was expecting but it certainly was not this. I was pretty much laughing throughout the whole book.
This rom com had me in my feels. It starts off with Mason just being ridiculous. All he’s doing is getting food at a restaurant and when he sets his eyes on Zane, it’s all over. He’s so determined that Zane and him would be perfect together. All the man did was become his waiter.

This was SO FUCKING FUNNY. And HOT (the primal play and the knife play especially hehe). And cute. I had a ball reading this honestly. Mason is so ridiculous I am obsessed with him. Ugh and Kidnap Daddy Master Zane HELLO. The premise of this one was just so fun and the execution was perfect. I assume we are getting Grant's book next and I can't wait!

I think this book just wasn’t for me. I enjoyed the dynamic between Mason and Zane. There is a shortage of unhinged freak for freak relationships and these two were definitely insane for each other, especially Zane. The tension between the characters was great and it was satisfying seeing them finally snap.
Honestly this book is mostly just kink and although I love spice, there isn’t really any plot at all. Outlandish events happening in books also don’t tend to bother me often but the circumstance of Zane ending up in Mason’s basement was incredibly unbelievable. Mason’s first reaction to accidentally hitting someone with his car and thinking they’re dead is to take the body and dump it as if nothing happened😭😭 I think calling an ambulance would probably suffice but Mason had other thoughts. I also wasn’t a huge fan of his personality in general. He didn’t have much spine for the first part of the book then becomes full alpha once their relationship starts and I couldn’t really get past that.
Overall, this book is still well done and could definitely be great for others, just not my vibe.

This was such a fun one! I really enjoyed Mason and Zane's story and how they got to their happily ever after. Their meet-cute was fun and I really enjoyed the whole situation which was a bit concerning but also hilarious. I personally thought it was hilarious that Mason kept trying to entice Zane and told him all of his dark fantasies while Zane kept trying to be serious and was afraid of the consequences of their meet-cute. I really enjoyed their dynamic and how well their likes aligned and how much they enjoyed playing out their fantasies. It was great to see them explore and discover new things they liked, while also having fun and building a relationship outside of their explorations. I loved the caretaking and all the sweet moments between Mason and Zane.

I was immediately obsessed with how adorably awkward Zane is And Mason?? The way this man is so unhinged with his fantasies and how he speaks about them had me dying. He is absolutely ridiculous in the best way. This book is genuinely hilarious, from the little side comments and jabs to all the random quips that had me constantly laughing. I also loved the little audiobook aspects it was such a small detail, but I really feel like it added a lot Also can we talk about the pet/master dynamic and the kinks?! Because holy shit 🥵. Overall, this was such a fun read with a surprisingly unique plot. I love a good romcom with a little touch of darkness, and this one nailed that balance perfectly.

I had such a fun time with this and hope I took it the right way because I spent a good amount of time laughing and enoying the fun and almost parody look at dark romance and the readers.
Mason was brilliant - obessessed and living the dark romance reader dream. I thought he was seriously adorable and I had a such a good time with this rose coloured view of the world and his total belief that he'd win Zane over.
Zane's constant inner monologue of worry was endearing... I was worried I was going to find it annoying but the opposite happened.
I honestly spent a lot of time with a smile of my face while reading - it was short, spicy, sweet and funny... and perfectly unhinged.

It was a decent book, but I just couldn't connect with the story. So many things just didn't add up.
I did love the characters, the banter and the humor though. So you might like it. Definitely give it a try.

Mason is a dark romance-obsessed artist who longs to have his fantasies from his favourite books come to life. When he meets Zane, a very sexy server at a restaurant, he decides he might as well shot his shot… by following him to his car. Okay so this wasn't at all what I expected, but it was pretty entertaining.
Mason being a crazed gremlin was believable but after days in a basement only seeing his sexy kidnapper a little I don't understand how he never lost any morale or steam with his positive sex kidnapped energy. There were a few times when I was sure he would start to feel scared or hurt but nope, lol. Other than that, I know the premise is supposed to be insane but I can see how a lonely person might embrace this scenario. Lol
Zane and his series of unfortunate events at the beginning of the book was relatable. Zane is technically a bad person, but aren't we all? Lol

I've been itching for this book to release and it was so amazing! These authors are a powerhouse together and I love their writing style and flows. The spice was top tier and kinky as hell in this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥. This was a very different story and I've read nothing like this before. I loved the reverse corruption arc in this book. The humor in this story had me cackling loud so much 😅😅. This had some great troupes like: Dark Rom Com, Reverse Corruption Arc, Bi-Awakening, Forced Proximity, Kidnapping Gone Wrong, and Masked Man. These two had such a sweet and spicy HEA. I'm glad there was no 3rd act break up in this too. Who doesn't want to live out their primal fantasies with a masked man?
This story follows Zane and Mason. Mason is an artist who is burnt out and looking for his muse. He ends up going to a Cafe and becomes extremely obsessed and delusional with his new waiter, Zane. He believes Zane will be the one to fulfill all this dark romance fantasies. Zane is working two jobs waiting tables while his Brewery project opens. Mason starts to stalk his future husband Zane and Zane ends up hitting him with his car. Zane thinks he kills him, so he goes to bury him, but Madon isn't dead 🤣. Mason them becomes his captive in his basement until Zane decides to kill him. In this time, we see Mason flirt, taunt, and try really hard to get Zane to give into his sexual fantasies. Zane eventually breaks and we see their dynamics change a few times. And boy, does it get spicy 🥵. Zane can't trust him but Mason won't give up. We see Mason get more freedom around the house. We see them explore new kinks 😉. Mason will do anything to get Zane to see that he doesn't want to leave and for once he finally feels free. Can Zane trust that Mason won't turn him in? Can these two live out their ultimate fantasies and find love?
These two men were so sweet, adorable, sexy, and hilarious. The inner monologue and banter between them was so hilarious 😂. Mason was a delusional bratty guy who upped his psycho levels when needed. Zane thought he was straight and normal until Mason unlocked his dark, possessive streak. I loved how possessive yet caring he was for his little psycho. The chemistry and connection was off the charts 🥵. The kink, spice, and power dynamics were so delicious 🔥🔥🔥. The dirty talk was 💦💦. I've been itching for this book to release and it was so amazing! These authors are a powerhouse together and I love their writing style and flows. The spice was top tier and kinky as hell in this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥. This was a very different story and I've read nothing like this before. I loved the reverse corruption arc in this book. The humor in this story had me cackling loud so much 😅😅. This had some great troupes like: Dark Rom Com, Reverse Corruption Arc, Bi-Awakening, Forced Proximity, Kidnapping Gone Wrong, and Masked Man. These two had such a sweet and spicy HEA. I'm glad there was no 3rd act break up in this too. Who doesn't want to live out their primal fantasies with a masked man?
This story follows Zane and Mason. Mason is an artist who is burnt out and looking for his muse. He ends up going to a Cafe and becomes extremely obsessed and delusional with his new waiter, Zane. He believes Zane will be the one to fulfill all this dark romance fantasies. Zane is working two jobs waiting tables while his Brewery project opens. Mason starts to stalk his future husband Zane and Zane ends up hitting him with his car. Zane thinks he kills him, so he goes to bury him, but Madon isn't dead 🤣. Mason them becomes his captive in his basement until Zane decides to kill him. In this time, we see Mason flirt, taunt, and try really hard to get Zane to give into his sexual fantasies. Zane eventually breaks and we see their dynamics change a few times. And boy, does it get spicy 🥵. Zane can't trust him but Mason won't give up. We see Mason get more freedom around the house. We see them explore new kinks 😉. Mason will do anything to get Zane to see that he doesn't want to leave and for once he finally feels free. Can Zane trust that Mason won't turn him in? Can these two live out their ultimate fantasies and find love?
These two men were so sweet, adorable, sexy, and hilarious. The inner monologue and banter between them was so hilarious 😂. Mason was a delusional bratty guy who upped his psycho levels when needed. Zane thought he was straight and normal until Mason unlocked his dark, possessive streak. I loved how possessive yet caring he was for his little psycho. The chemistry and connection was off the charts 🥵. The kink, spice, and power dynamics were so delicious 🔥🔥🔥. The dirty talk was 💦💦. I loved seeing their relationship evolve from captor/captive into more. These two had so many layers between them. I loved seeing the trust Mason gave to Zane. He flourished in the cage Zane built for him. Zane was such a sweet caretaker. I loved how he helped Mason's art career. And let's not forget about Piet aka Pete 🐶.
