Moriarty: The Great Chaos

Rate this book
The thrilling conclusion of Audible's blockbuster Sherlock Holmes saga brings back Dominic Monaghan and Phil LaMarr in their iconic roles... and introduces the one man who holds the key to Moriarty’s Ben Kingsley as Moriarty's father.

Professor James Moriarty thought he could outwit fate… But when his future-predicting equation falls into the wrong hands, it threatens to ignite a global war. Moriarty is dragged into a deadly race across continents, locked in a twisted duel with Sherlock Holmes himself, and haunted by secrets from his own family that refuse to stay buried.

From sinking ships to burning cathedrals, shadow councils to submarine tombs, this season hurtles Moriarty toward a final reckoning where genius, betrayal, and obsession collide.

The Great Chaos is a globe-spanning thriller that proves the most dangerous equation of all is the one you can’t solve yourself.

A great conclusion to this superbly produced audio series, despite the slightly disappointing *Last Crusade* vibe. Holmes as a full-on "mwah-ah-ah" villain is delightful.

Really loved this! I’m a sucker for new spin on old lore. The performances and production were perfect. And so I begin my Sherlock Holmes Era, except now when I see Moriarty as the bad guy, I’ll actually be rooting for him. 🙃

I am not a fan of the role reversal, but I think if you are going to tell a story like that, this is was a pretty good way to tell it.
The voice actor for Sherlock had a tenor and cadence to his voice that made him absolutely insufferable (which might have been the point, but I found it distracting).
This was good fun, not for me, but good fun, and if you are not bothered by the role reversal (with Sherlock being the villain, not just the antagonist, but full on villain) then you will probably enjoy this.
A book where Moriarty is the villain but the protagonist (which is sort of what I thought this was going to be) would be interesting to read/listen to, but alas...

I’ve always enjoyed the Holmes mysteries. I particularly enjoy those which advance or complement the original canon.

Nice way to wrap up the story.
I still can't get used to Sherlock as the bad guy.

This was a new take on the stories of Sherlock and moriarty I hadn’t expected. I didn’t realize this was the final story of a trilogy but will definitely be checking out the previous stories.

A satisfying ending of this audiodrama series. The mind games of Moriarty and Holmes kept me at the edge of my seat. Many references of cases from the Sherlock Holmes series such as "The Seven-Per-Cent Solution" and "The Hound of Baskerville" - naming a few. The cast was a delight!
