This is book 1 in the Hide Me Series. It has a slightly paranormal aspect and is darker than my previous books - with definite thriller overtones.
Katerina Holloway's life is finally coming together. With a new job as a Paramedic and new opportunity ahead of her, she's relieved to know that worrying about finances will be a thing of the past. But ending one part of her life to begin another, doesn't go as planned.
When she is confronted with haunting images that seem to be coming from the mind of a serial killer, Katerina's life is sent into a tailspin. Nothing makes sense and the visions keep reoccurring.
A forced outing with her best friend adds another layer to Katerina's already full plate. A handsome stranger with a troubled soul is instantly attracted to her, but Katerina is still reeling from all that is happening to her and has no interest in dating a cop.
Running from the potential for love is quickly proven to be futile. That handsome man will no longer be a stranger and moving past their doubts will only be the beginning of all that they will have to endure.
Suspense Thriller level: High. Heat Level: Moderate. Some swearing. 18+ Cliffhanger to the next book in the series (but this storyline is finished first)
This is the first part of a new series by author Lisa Ladew. While I have read several of her previous books, this is the first one that relies heavily on paranormal elements. Just before starting her dream job as a paramedic, Katerina starts receiving psychic visions of several different women that have been killed. Not only is she is having to experience these horrible visions, she is mysteriously linked to these crimes and until the crimes are solved she cannot get on with her life. This novel immediately pulled me in with the romantic suspense elements. If you pick this one up, make sure you don’t have anything that needs to be done, because you will not be able to stop reading. I’m very much looking forward to the next installment since this one does end with a cliffhanger. Fans of the Bishop Series from Kay Hooper will most likely enjoy this one.
This story has me intrigued. I never usually read books like this but I gave it a chance and I loved it. Katerina found out she can see things by touching people. On her last day of being a massage therapist she touched a man and she ended up having all his thoughts into her. She saw all his killings. He was a serial killer. But before that happened she met a guy named west at a bar. She also finds out she is his boss while she is training to become a paramedic. West actually helps Katerina find these women in her mind. West lost his wife two years ago. She committed suicide and also found out she was pregnant when she killed herself. Anyway Katerina ends up letting a reporter interview her about the story. When she goes to find the third body the serial killer already took the body and tried killing them by shooting at them. They got away. But that wasn't his last attempt. He snuck in Katerina's apartment but west scared him off. Then he lured them out to a morgue. He was there and attempted to kill them. Katerina ended up shooting him. They got away. Katerina ends up going into a coma from all that took her body. West and her have this connection where he heals her and makes her feel good and restored. Katerina ends up going to frank Philips house the serial killer because they didn't have any evidence on him. She went into the house and found many clues. And he ended up going to prison. But little did she know there is more than one. Her first day back at work she gets a call that there is a dead body. So her and west go there. They find a woman dead. But the woman's face is masked with a picture of Katrina. That's where they find out there is another serial killer on the loose. She is mortified. Also her and west slept together after she found all the evidence to put frank away. But when they got to the scene west wouldn't let her see. So she touched him and saw it in his mind. She didn't want to because she promised she wouldn't do that to him. But she couldn't resist. That's when she saw the woman with the mask of her face. And that's how it ends.

The first book in the Hide Me Series, Hide My Memories is an enthralling thriller. The female lead, Katerina's psychic abilities are suddenly activated on her last day working as a massage therapist. Her mind is overwhelmed by 3 murdered women. Starting her new job as a Paramedic she is partnered with West, a fireman/paramedic. Soon things get sticky when these women's bodies turn up.
I am a big fan of Lisa Ladew's books. This series is a darker read than "The Edge of Heat" series and it absolutely measures up to what I have come to expect from her. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys drama, suspense, danger and romance all wrapped up in one place. Having read the second book as well, before posting this review I can say with absolute certainty that Ladew delivers an awesome psychological thriller within this series.
Lisa Ladew's books just keep getting better and better! Hide My Memories was the perfect kind of romantic suspense! In this book we meet Katerina and West, two paramedics that can't deny their attraction towards each other, but are kept really busy with the mysterious deaths of women, women who Katerina keeps "seeing" in her mind. This book will not disappoint!
She was a massage therapist, while getting her paramedic certificate. The last day she has a big man known as Mr Smith, and a touch is all it took. The visions don’t stop, unable to finish. Going home they still haunt her. A good story of the paranormal, and a good thing West had a lawyer to call. Thought it was a good plot, all the sex I did’t care for at the end.
I just love Westwood Harbor! Such a wonderful town with wonderful people. I loved this book as much as I did the other Westwood Harbor books. I look forward to reading the next book.
The premise: a woman suddenly comes into powerful psychic powers when she comes in contact with a serial killer. I found that silly, as well as some of the other aspects of the book. However, the mystery component of identifying the killer kept me reading. An OK book overall.
I fell in love with the characters right away. Then I got hooked on the story so much I did not notice the subtle changes in the story. I kept thinking o.k. he's the one, then again. I was never right.
I thought this book is worth reading. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and would not want Katrina's gift. It would be scary to have it. I'm not sure I would ever leave the house.
Well written, very visual and suspenseful. Nice twists and turns that keep the pages turning. Romance added for extra benefits. I gave it a 4 star because I feel one solved mystery is just a good start not a complete book, just too short.
I loved everything about this book and read each chapter twice. The characters were easy to relate to, and I felt like I was there with them. The whole book was gripping, including the epilogue. I can't wait to read the next book in this series and every other book written by Lisa Ladew.
Interesting story line. Well written. Sex scene at the end, which I don't care for, but it was tastefully written. I would read the second book in the series.
I really wish we had the option of half stars because this little "slightly paranormal" tale was probably worthy of 3.5 stars. There were a couple of plot holes that didn't really get in the way of the story, but they were vaguely annoying enough to be bothersome.
Also, I'm not a huge fan of third person narratives in stories like this, ones where the largely personal connection to the characters needs to feel more intimate. If an author brings a questionable element into a story and expects a reader to swallow disbelief and completely buy into the concept, she should do more to solidify the connection to the character and allow the reader to hear her thoughts and experience them first hand. This feels like someone very clinical and distant is retelling a story a stranger told them. The intimacy needed to feel that draw to the characters is just not there.
Despite that, I did like the plot. I hope the subsequent books only get better.
Wow! This book grabbed me for the first couple of pages & kept hold until the end.
Katerina is so excited to be starting her new job as a paramedic, but something happens on her last day at her old job & she starts to experience horrific images, that seem to come from the mind of a serial killer. When she meets West her Fireman/Paramedic trainer there is an instant attraction & affinity between them. So together they set out to get to the bottom of the images haunting Katerina.
This story will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I loved Katerina & West they are absolutely perfect together.
This story does end on a cliffhanger, but I loved it so much I bought the box set.
A new paramedic keeps getting flashes of dead women in her head after touching the serial killer in an everyday life kind of interaction. She doesn't know who he is, but thanks to her visions, she knows who he killed. The only way she can get rid of the visions is to locate the bodies of the victims.
Her new partner (and accidental one night stand) assists her to locate the bodies and find the killer before the killer finds her. She is also navigating a new job and a new romance at the same time.
This really was a good book, but it was slow starting. I had trouble really getting into it, but if you can hang in there through the first half, it does pick up. I think this series has potential, and will most likely read the second book.
This is another great book by Lisa Ladew. I have read all of her Edge of Heat and Unauthorized books up to now and this book has become my favourite so far. I loved West and Katerina although I'm not a fan of paranormal stories this captured my interest as it was not too over the top and quite believable. The only other author that has been able to do this is Trish McCallan. The story was well thought out and kept a good sense of suspense throughout. Can't wait to read the next book as this did end on a kind of cliffhanger
Lisa Ladew has done it again. Katerina is just beginning her new job. She begins to have haunted images and suspects its from the mind of the sicko who is committing murder. Not to mention a handsome cop is attracted to her and she is trying to steer clear of a relationship. I love Lisa Ladew's writing. This is a great read and first in the "Hide Me" series. Well worth the read.
WOW!!! Pull me in, take over my mind and leave me wanting more? Yes please. This is the best suspense book I've ever read. Katerina doesn't realize the abilities she has to "see" what others can't. Enter West, the only man that can tame the blackness that threatens to drown her. A fantastic read of murder, deception, and psychic abilities will leave you begging for more and sleeping with the lights on!
I really liked this book and look forward to reading the next book by this author. She did a great job of building the characters; however, I did find the heroine to be a little naive. I just can't imagine this intelligent strong woman not being able to determine that the person she touched were his thoughts, her mom was a physic or that she could also be physic.
I read this in one sitting. It's very suspenseful and different from other suspense books that I have read. I especially loved the psychic aspect of it. The author did a great job of weaving the normal side of solving a crime with the paranormal and making it believable. I look forward to reading the others in this series.
I usually read your typical romance story which I thought this would be but boy I was so surprised!!!. I usually don't read romantic suspense stories but this author has changed my mind. I guess I didn't take notice that the book was a romantic suspense. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I can't wait to read the next book!!!.
This series is a little different from the edge or the unauthorized series. It's still very good. Still full of suspense and romance. A lot more out there with the paranormal. Still very good and she is always giving us what we want. Can't wait for the next books to come out. Love her writing still never boring always pulls you right in.
From the beginning the author captures the reader's interest and keeps it page after page. The heroine is introduced on page 1 and the book carries you through as she tries to understand what is happening to her. The hero is trying to let go of his past as he tries to help the heroine cope with her newly realized physic visions.
Interesting idea for the story. I enjoyed finding out how Katerina's power worked. I would have liked to know more about how West manages to help her control the power. I would have given 4 stars but this book had a cliffhanger. Come on, now. That's not very fair -- or at least let me know before reading it.
It took me awhile to get into this book. I don't usually like mysteries, but this one was ok. I like that it was about a young girl having the ability to see what a person has done by just touching them. All the trouble it caused her and the danger it put her in it turned out to be a pretty good book.
Kathleen Halloway finds her life turned up side down due to her psychic capacities formerly unknown to her. These capacities lead her to uncover a serial killer. Her life s definitely in danger but her new found friend, West is there to help and above all protect her. A well written story that is intense and fascinating.
i loved this book from the first page to the last. The connection and trust between the main characters was amazing, especially with the addition of psychic abilities. Then to add a serial killer to the mix and the story just getting getting better. I can't wait for more of this series!!
Well, I am apparently in the minority here, but I just couldn't get in to this book. The writing felt off to me, I didn't feel any connection to the characters, and at 53%, I just didn't care what happened to them and gave up.
