Equus Flight Academy: A School For The Brave

Rate this book
Ten applicants. One scholarship. Three deadly races.

Rosamond discovers long-buried secrets about her father’s past when she receives an unexpected invitation to Equus Flight Academy, following a denial from her preferred university. They’re offering her a chance to belong, just like her late father did when he was a student there. Accepting it means honoring her family’s legacy, but she must risk leaving behind her ailing grandmother, her only remaining family.

Upon arrival, Rosa learns that the scholarship can only be earned by surviving three dangerous races that push riders and Pegasus to their limits. As training begins, she forges friendships, earns powerful enemies, and grows closer to the academy’s captivating instructor’s assistant—someone who challenges her guarded heart.

When her grandmother’s health rapidly declines, Rosa uncovers a life-altering truth that forces her to confront her grief, past, and what true forgiveness means. When unexpected circumstances occur, everything she loves is at stake. She must decide whether to stay and compete for the future she’s built—or walk away before the academy demands more than she can give.

I really loved this world ! It has you feel all the feelings- made you feel like you were actually flying on the pegasus, falling in love, and growing up. It's giving spice-free Fourth Wing vibes and dragon riding academic vibes.
I highly recommend this clean romantasy to all ! I was so happy to see a YA book actually be YA.

This was such a fun & easy read! It had a nice pace, likable characters and great imagery, with a refreshing & sweet romance. Definitely brought me back to the books I loved to read as a girl. Hard to believe this is the author’s first novel, I’m excited to see what she does next!

This book would be perfect for the fantasy lover who wants a true “no spice” read. This book was advertised as young adult and the author truly stuck to that and made it fully YA.

This book would also be perfect for teens who are wanting to dive into fantasy. It was a fun easy read with complete modesty and decency.

What a great, fast read.

If you would have told me that I needed a YA academia book with games and trials… I would have agreed with you because this is just a stunning debut novel! From the plot to the characters, this one just engages readers in the best way possible!

A huge shoutout to the incredible Hannah Fluker for putting this book on my radar and allowing me to read it early as an ARC!

I was able to read EFA early and it did not disappoint! As a big fan of the fantasy/ romantasy genre, I had high expectations and EFA far exceeded them. As a first book for Hannah Fluker and no-spice romance, I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging the characters were. I love that I’ll be able to share this story with my children, and I would LOVE for the story to continue in a series!!

This book was so cute and very well written. The pacing was perfect! I feel this book would be perfect for teenage girls! Or anyone who really loves horses! So hard to believe this is her debut novel!

This was so wonderful! I received an ARC from the author and whatever I expected, it was better.
An academic magical setting and YA that is actually YA. This book is so character driven, a must for me, and the prose made you really feel the settings. Beautiful writing. No spice YA fantasy.
