Sullivan by Melanie Moreland is a stand alone romance, a spin off from the Irishmen duet. This is a later in life, only one bed, forced proximity love story. It’s a beautiful story of finding love when you least expect it. I want to add that at the end of the book, there is a downloadable epilogue. I don’t want you to miss this absolutely beautiful extra ending. It’s that epilogue that I’m going to be thinking of for days and days.

Sullivan “Sully” Black, cousin to Niall Black and Finn O’Reilly who live in Canada, is forty eight years old and is a corporate attorney in Edinburgh, Scotland. Sully’s career is busy and full. He doesn’t often date. The few times he has tried, the women have only been interested in him for his money and the prestige of being seen with him. He’s exhausted and stressed when his assistant insists he take a weekend and go up to his cabin. Little did he know that the decision to follow his advice was going to change his life.

Autumn Briggs is thirty eight years old. She lives in Canada but is in Edinburgh for a few weeks working temporarily. She is also exhausted and her friend from work insists she take the weekend at a cabin her cousin owns. It’s all going great until a huge man walks through the front door wondering why she’s in his cabin!

After the initial shock wears off, these two get along wonderfully while a huge storm rages outside the cabin, keeping them shut in. They both experience an immediate pull to the other. An attraction neither has ever felt before. Things might have happened fast but that’s what the Black men are known for. By the time the storm passes and it’s time for them to return to the city, neither can imagine their lives without the other. But, what happens when they leave their little cocoon and they return to their real lives? Autumn’s time in Scotland is only temporary until her job is finished. Then she’s to return home to Canada. Is there a way to convince her that a life in Edinburgh with Sully is worth taking a risk?

This was such a beautiful story. Sully is strong, possessive but also so sweet and swoony. Autumn is an independent woman. Both of these characters have secrets though. Sully’s life isn’t all that it seems. And Autumn wasn’t in Scotland just for her temporary job.

I read this pretty fast. Not only is it so sweet and swoony, there is a hint of danger and suspense as well. I really didn’t want to put this down. And again, don’t forget that extra epilogue. You’ll be thanking me for that!!

I'm sorry... this one was barely readable for me after 50%... just.. PAINFUL. I learned after I finished that this book was previously a novella, that maybe ended after the snowed in part of the story? I don't know for sure if that's true, but if it is... I can really tell. There was SUCH a rush to love, and I am okay with that, in general, but then the added length to the book and the AFTER the snowed in part was painful for me.

I truly love Melanie Moreland, so it hurts me to be so negative, but this was almost unreadable for me. If I hadn't been listening to John and Maxine narrating this one, I maybe would have given up. It just didn't have the same magic that the books that were more Mafia focused for me. It just felt like it didn't have much direction, leading a 300 page book to feel MUCH longer.

I will always be a fan of Melanie Moreland, but this one was a miss for me.

3.5 ⭐️. I loved a lot of things about this story, I just felt the pacing was off.

Sullivan ❤️ Autumn

After a busy week, Sully decides to take a weekend away and stay in his country home just as a snowstorm starts. Unbeknownst to him, his cousin, who manages the property for him, also suggested that her tired friend and co-worker go stay at his house for the same reason. They meet late at night when she is already there, relaxed, and snuggled by the fire. He comes in the front door, she sees him, is terrified and faints.

They figure out the mishap and then have a very steamy snowed in weekend. Each have some secrets, she shares hers first (she has a stalker) he hides his (he’s involved tangentially-ish with some kind of benevolent crime family).

It’s starts with insta love on steroids and then the ‘how will we make this work’ middle section (which dragged) and then a very exciting/chaotic end, where she discovers his ties to criminal activities, she then needs to go home to Canada to care for her aunt who’s in the hospital, and then he saves her from her stalker.

💼 Powerful Irish/Scottish attorney and down to earth beautiful Canadian business woman
🙂 10 yr age gap; he’s 48; she’s 38.
⏩Insta lust to insta love to mild panic (her) to forever. The insta part was made slightly more believable bc they each had heard of each other thru the cousin/friend and knew the other to be good people.
💪🏼Very protective MMC
😊Equally matched characters - she’s doesn’t have wealth or power, but she’s not poor, she does have a voice and she uses it
🫣Third act struggle - when she discovers that he’s involved in crime and doesn’t know how to react to the violent side of him. They never really break up, she just needs a minute.
🌶️Spice - starts early and continues throughout; no jealousy
😊 Nickname - mo fhiadh beag, which I think translates to my little fawn (altho I kept reading as “my little flea bag” lol )
👍No OM/OW - He’s never felt strong feelings for anyone but her, she’s had partners, but nothing that I remember. He’s not portrayed as a player. I think it’s been a year for him when they get together and more for her. Neither are able to have children.
🏠Found family - Niall, Finn and their wives from the previous books make several appearances. They live in Canada near Autumn’s home, which proves helpful. Sully and Autumn each have an elderly aunt that they adore.
👥Dual POV; HEA; married and living together

I had not read neither Niall nor Finn’s books and while it wasn’t necessary, it may have been helpful for me to have a better understanding of Sully and a better sense of what he was hiding from her.

I wanted the stalker to play a bigger role and there was way too much time on the practicality of her moving from Canada. Like, whatever, I don’t need the details, just make it happen. 😂

Overall, a fun insta love story w some action at the end. Enjoy!

ARC/ALC REVIEW

I was/am a huge fan of Melanie’s Irishmen Duet and I beyond excited that she has expanded and spun-off with Sullivan! I’m also a huge fan of all of her “shades of Canadian Grey” stories (IYKYK lol). You know what, I’m just a fan! LOL I haven’t always been able to keep up with her releases in a timely manner, but I am a fan!

The story of Sully & Autumn was layered perfectly! We have a close proximity situation, which was perfect for their “mett-cute” and for them to develop a quick bond. I mean what else are you going to do stuck in a cabin? Amirite? It was a perfect set up as far as I’m concerned and it didn’t last very long. We then move to the “not stuck in close proximity” portion of their relationship build and because they were in close quarters for a few days the “getting to know you” portion had been taken care of, mostly. Now is when the real story begins and boy did it get thrilling and captivating! I really enjoyed this couple a lot. There was an ease to them that made me enjoy every minute that I listened to their story. Yes, John Lane and Maxine Mitchell were outstanding as they always are! At this point, I’d call them a power couple in the world of narrators! They work ridiculously well with each other, and I honestly love that I know the audiobooks for Melanie’s stories are going to be fantastic because these two are always the narrators! It’s a huge #win for my audio loving heart! :) When it comes to Melanie’s stories, I mainly listen and use the eBook as reference to highlight and take notes. That’s how much I love the John & Maxine Team! 👏👏👏

I also really enjoyed the fact that not only did Sully & Autumn have to “work” for their relationship which with everything they had to hurdle to be a unit in the same place (read the book to get those details LOL) was extensive and came with its own inherent set of conflicts but there was also a suspenseful plot-twist of sorts towards the end that was not unwelcomed. While I normally really dislike “last minute” shenanigans, this particular plot point was well placed and actually helped elevate the story. 👏👏👏

Fingers crossed Melanie continues bringing us stories in her “shades of Canadian Grey” world(s)! *heart eyes*

Holy cow…. this series just keeps getting better and better!!! And the little sneak peeks of Finn and Niall (from books 1 & 2)? Obsessed.

Sullivan heads to his Scotland cottage for a quiet weekend getaway… except it’s not so quiet. Lights are on, smoke’s coming from the chimney and when he walks in, there’s a woman already there… who promptly passes out the second she sees him.

Enter Autumn.

She works with Sullivan’s cousin, who offers her the cottage for a much-needed escape, assuming Sullivan won’t be there. Fresh off the train in Edinburgh, Autumn is completely swept away by the charm—the cozy town, the shops, the peaceful vibe. It feels like exactly what she needs. Until Sullivan walks through the door.

Terrified he might be someone from her past, she faints but once everything is cleared up, the connection between them is instant. The chemistry and the comfort are Immediate. The way they feel like home to each other? Ugh, SO good. It’s giving full-on soulmates energy.

They spend an extended, steamy winter weekend together and even make plans to continue things but reality hits. Autumn’s Canadian, so staying means dealing with visa issues… and then life throws another curveball when her aunt (who’s basically her mom) gets hurt, forcing her back home.
And from there? The angst kicks in.

The intense “touch her and die” energy from the MMC, mixed with swoony romance and emotional tension was soooo good!! READ THIS.

Melanie Moreland's Canadian gray is my favorite color...

It's love at first sight for Sully and Autumn when they're snowed in with one bed, and he falls hard and fast and is all in. She doesn't know he's more than just a lawyer and literally means it when he says he'd kill for her. The audio was perfection as usual, John Lane and Maxine Mitchell showing off how talented they are with Irish accents and all the feels. I loved every moment!

This is a snowed-in, Instalove romance between Autumn, an HR professional, and Sullivan (Sully), a solicitor (the story is in Scotland, solicitor = attorney). After a mix-up involving the rental of Sully’s seaside cottage, these two end up stuck together during a storm. It did NOT take long before things got steamy between them.

I’ve been reading this author for awhile and know some of her books are instalove, but this one was INSTALOVE. They slept together within a few hours of meeting, and were in love not soon after that. It was hard to believe they had a genuine connection given how fast things progressed.

The mystery/syndicate element was predictable, but I like how it was handled! Sully’s cousins were great, and it was clear they’d had prior books. Overall, this is a quick read if you want something cute!

What to Expect: snowed-in, instalove, Scotland, stalker ex

Finally the story we all needed. Melanie delivers and delivers so good! She writes the most wonderful Morally Grey Heroes. I’m totally in love with Sully…. Oh and with Autumn too 🙈. This later in age, morally grey hero 🤤, forced proximity, one bed, strangers to lovers, it’s an amazing story to read/listening in one seat. Autumn is wonderful and just what Sully needs. Love Roisin and the boys (can’t stop loving Finn and Niall). This story will keep you at the edge of the seat. The narrators performance was incredible as always. John and Maxine are one of the perfect couple. They are always making me fall in love with all Melanie’s heroes and heroines. You don’t need to read Irishmen Duet to enjoy and devour Sullivan, but you’re definitely have a good time if you decide to read them all.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS

This is a beautifully written romance that I’ll be recommending to everyone. Sullivan and Autumn are both strong and self-aware characters. There’s just enough conflict in the story to keep it real. John and Maxine added great depth in the audiobook. Reading and then listening made the story feel fresh all over again. Sullivan is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

Sullivan's been going so hard at the office that his assistant has booked him for a weekend away at his cabin. Upon arriving, he's surprised to see the lights on and a fire in the fireplace. But the unknown person isn't at all whom he expected - instead, she's a beautiful, very surprised woman whose friend, Sully's cousin Bonnie, suggested she take her own rest at the cabin. Once he gets over his surprise and she gets over her fear, they form an instant connection that is going to only strengthen even after their snowed in surprise is over.

Autumn needed this r&r weekend as much as Sullivan, and now that they're sharing the same space, she's seriously surprised at how safe she feels with the man who first terrified her when he surprised her at the cabin. But she's not just feeling safe, she's also feeling something a lot more intense and physical (and emotional, too). But will she still feel the same when she finds out Sullivan's past and the less than positive things he's done?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I love Sullivan as much as I do Finn and Niall. There's something so attractive about an alpha who is down so bad for a special someone that they'll do anything for them. Sullivan may have given Finn and Niall lots of grief about falling so hard for Anna and Una, but he knew as soon as he saw Autumn that he finally understood. His family and his found family also took one look at Autumn and welcomed her into the fold and gave her the family she didn't have outside of her aunt. True to form, Melanie gives Autumn a lot to think about, and lots of twists and suspense to help her make her decision. But at the end, Sully and Autumn get the sweetest of all conclusions. I'm not sure if there are more friends or family to spinoff of the Irishmen, but I hope so, because I want to keep reading more about all of them.

Sullivan leans all the way into what makes a classic Melanie Moreland romance so addictive: a fiercely protective alpha hero, intense emotional stakes, and a love story that ignites almost instantly and refuses to let go. I'm just loving this series, and it's great on audio too!

Sullivan Black is the kind of character who doesn’t do anything halfway. When he falls, he commits completely and without hesitation. He is dominant, possessive, and unapologetically intense, yet there is a softer layer beneath it all that shows in the way he cares for Autumn. His need to protect and provide borders on overwhelming at times, but it is balanced by genuine devotion. He does not play games with his feelings, and that certainty gives the romance its emotional weight.

Autumn is a strong counterpart to him. She is warm, grounded, and capable of standing her ground, even when faced with Sullivan’s larger than life presence. While she is drawn to him quickly, her hesitation feels justified given how fast everything unfolds. She has her own struggles, including a dangerous situation from her past, and that adds a layer of vulnerability that makes her decisions feel more realistic.

The story begins with a classic forced proximity setup that works incredibly well to kickstart the romance quickly. A snowstorm traps them together in a remote cabin, turning a chance encounter into an intense, intimate experience. The chemistry is immediate and undeniable, creating a bubble where everything feels heightened. That early connection is super addictive, filled with tension, heat, and emotional pull.

As the story moves beyond the cabin, the stakes expand. Distance, real life responsibilities, and Sullivan’s morally grey world begin to complicate things. His ties to a more dangerous side of life add an undercurrent of suspense, especially when Autumn’s own situation resurfaces. While the suspense elements are not the main focus, they add enough tension to keep the story engaging and give the romance something real to push against.

The relationship develops very quickly (strong insta love vibes here), so to some it may feel more rooted in intense attraction than deep emotional buildup. I went in expecting a bit of instalove so it didn't bother me here. Sullivan’s tendency to take control of situations can also come across as overpowering at times, particularly when Autumn is still trying to find her footing. However, the story does acknowledge this dynamic, and part of his growth comes from learning to step back and let her make her own choices.

And of course familiar faces from the larger world make appearances, adding warmth, humor, and a sense of continuity. These relationships help ground the story and give it a richer emotional backdrop.

Narrated by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell in dual format, the audio book performances bring a new level of depth to the characters. John Lane captures Sullivan’s commanding presence and underlying intensity perfectly, while Maxine Mitchell brings warmth and nuance to Autumn’s character. Their use of accents and emotional delivery adds great authenticity, making the setting and characters feel more immersive. Together, they create a dynamic listening experience with great vocal chemistry.

Overall, this is a fast-paced, emotionally charged romance with plenty of heat, a touch of danger, and a hero who loves with everything he has. So fun and delicious.

Tropes / What to Expect:
Forced proximity
Snowed in together
Only one bed
Insta attraction
Morally grey alpha hero
He falls first and hard
Touch her and die energy
Grumpy x sunshine vibes
Found family
Romantic suspense elements
Protective, possessive hero

I’ve always enjoyed Melanie Moreland’s books, but I’m especially loving her move into morally grey heroes which has added a fresh edge to her writing and Sullivan (Sully) Black is a standout example. Readers of The Irishmen duet will recognise him, though unlike his cousins, Sully appears to have turned his troubled youth into something more respectable, at least on the surface. He works as a corporate solicitor in Edinburgh but beneath that lies his role handling legal affairs for the Syndicate. Something that makes his character even more intriguing as he straddles the line between legal and illegal with ease. It’s clear, though, he won’t hesitate to cross that line, particularly when it comes to protecting the people he cares about.

The story kicks off with a classic forced proximity setup when he heads to his country cottage, only to find Canadian Autumn Briggs already staying there, courtesy of his cousin offering up his house to her for a few days and their first meeting is memorable, to say the least, when she promptly faints. Over the course of a snowbound weekend trapped by the blizzard raging outside, they spend their time getting to know each other, and slowly a connection begins to form. It’s soon revealed that she came to Scotland to escape a casual date who had turned into a stalker, hoping distance would be enough to deter him - an element that adds an undercurrent of tension to the story without overwhelming the central romance. Once the storm clears, they agree to continue seeing each other back in Edinburgh, but with Autumn’s time in the country coming to an end, their blossoming relationship faces an uncertain future unless Sully can find a way for her to stay. Matters between them become even more complicated when Autumn overhears a conversation between him and his cousins, forcing her to confront the reality that he exists in two worlds, one where the law isn’t always clear-cut. But before she has time to time absorb this, the woman she considers a second mother is injured forcing her early return to Canada, only to discover her stalker hasn’t forgotten about her.

Overall, this is a well-paced, engaging read with well-developed characters and a romance that takes centre stage. The chemistry between Sully and Autumn is convincing, and their journey toward a happily ever after one you can’t help rooting for. I enjoyed that both protagonists are more mature characters, Sully at forty-eight and Autumn ten years younger, proving that chemistry and romance isn’t limited to people in their twenties. But while Sully falls quickly and deeply, Autumn is more cautious, and despite their ages neither seem to have experienced a relationship strong or meaningful enough to possibly upend their lives before. While the suspense element isn’t the main focus, it adds just enough depth to highlight the complexities of Sully’s world and provide a moral dilemma for Autumn. If you enjoy forced proximity romances with real emotional depth, morally grey heroes, and mature characters, this is definitely worth picking up.

Sullivan by Melanie Moreland is a spin-off of The Irishmen Duet. It is a standalone story about the steamy, opposites attract romance between Sullivan Black and Autumn. Two strangers sheltering from a snow storm in a cottage with only one bed and time on their hands. Neither were expecting to fall in love when they escaped to the Scottish coastal village of Lachlan for a quiet getaway. While you enjoy the romance between the couple, there is some suspense and drama due to the things that have happened in their pasts and them being from two totally different worlds.

He crossed an ocean to keep his word. She just didn't expect to lose her heart.

Autumn made friends with Bonnie when they worked in Canada together. She then took up the opportunity to work in Scotland when events in her life were causing her problems. When Bonnie suggests she gets away for a few days and gives her the keys to her cousin’s cottage. Autumn jumps at the chance, never expecting it to change her life forever.

Sullivan has a demanding job in Edinburgh as a solicitor. He is exhausted and stressed so his assistant makes him go to his cottage for a relaxing weekend. He is shocked when he finds Autumn already there. She is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen but terrified of him at first. There is an unexpected intense connection between them and Sully realises this could be the best mistake to ever happen to him. He has never felt such desire for someone before and his protective instincts kick in.

They are both thankful for the snow storm as they get to know each other very well !! Their chemistry means their passion and pleasure is nothing like she’s experienced before. He makes her feel so safe with his strength and powerful aura. She sees the sweet and gentle man behind the brooding and intimidating lawyer. Autumn makes him smile, laugh and feel alive. They both have secrets. She tells him about what she had to deal with back in Canada and he tells her about his cousins and their women but not the whole story. He falls hard and fast so this part of the story is a case of instalove. His declarations of love and his thoughts for the future worry her as so early in their relationship but he knows what he wants and it is her.

There is a lull in the story when they return to Edinburgh but things pick up when an incident exposes his past. We see their vulnerable sides as they have to face new problems that might affect their relationship. Then there is tension over the situation she left behind in Canada after some startling revelations about her stalker. Will they be able overcome these issues. Autumn seems very insecure about herself but I liked how she gains confidence while with Sully. He is worried about having a long distance relationship as doesn’t want to be apart so hopes she’d consider staying.

You don’t need to have read the duet first but they do give the backstory to his relationship with Niall and Finn, his cousin in Toronto. It was great seeing how the guys and their partners were doing. I loved how they both tease Sully when he admits his feelings for Autumn and they find out about his origami flowers! It was good how Bonnie explained things to her about their world and Aunt Rosin really made me laugh with her excitement for the couple.

Things come to a head when she returns to Canada and he’s not there to look after her, however, his cousins are so supportive and help her. There is an exciting ending with the guys all working together again and showing their demanding and protective sides. Then we return to the cottage for the epilogue and a lovely HEA for Sully and his "mo fhiadh beag".

Fabulous Story & Narration🎧Gripping, Heartfelt & Hot!

Sullivan
An Irishmen Duet Spin-Off
By: Melanie Moreland
Narrated by: John Lane, Maxine Mitchell

Melanie Moreland pens another fabulous novel, a romance that captivates your attention, tugs at your heartstrings, and will make you swoon. The characters are intriguing, and I adored the two lead characters, Autumn Briggs and Sullivan Black, both intriguing characters, each going on a weekend getaway, and unbeknownst to the other, they’d be staying at the same cabin. Autumn, who lives in Canada, needed to get away from a terrible situation, so took a job within the same company in Scotland. While there, her planned getaway got cancelled, so her co-worker offered her a cabin to stay in, and she called to make sure the owner, Sullivan, would not be using it. Except he was, arriving just when the storm was hitting its peak, and his entrance startled her. Because of the storm, neither one was going anywhere, and with one bed, one couch it should be fine, right? It was more than fine because these two hit is off like no other, and their time together went too quickly. The chemistry between these two was smoking hot, and he wanted more, but will she be able to accept who he is as a person. It was great watching these two get to know each other and see their relationship morph into something so much more. This masterfully crafted, multilayered story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, twists, thrilling and suspenseful moments, profound emotions, and steamy romance. As always, the writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Melanie Moreland, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the fabulous audiobook listen and production performed by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell, who did an amazing job voicing the characters, accents included. Their talent and versatility as voice artists truly shone in their performance. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Lane nailed it as Sullivan, grasping every aspect of his personality, from his protectiveness to his caring side, to his take no prisoners alpha side. Mitchell was just as fabulous as Autumn, showcasing her personality perfectly, and was a natural in her role. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side and secondary characters. They set the ideal tone for the story, conveyed all the characters’ emotions, and had you feeling them all. These two are a pleasure to listen to, offering entertaining storytelling and enthralling performances that will keep you hooked to the story.

In Moreland’s latest release we are taken back to the dangerous world of the Canadian syndicate in Sullivan. This time bringing the Scottish side into the mix as two unlikely individuals are brought together by chance in this steamy romance.

As a sought-after corporate solicitor, Sullivan “Sully” Black, has achieved a lot in in career as he always keeps himself busy. Taking a small break is the last thing he wanted, until his assistant booked him a train ticket to the small town of Lachlan, where he owns a cottage by the sea. What Sully wasn’t expecting to find was a beautiful woman fainting in front of him. At work, he is a cut-throat solicitor ready to do his job. But looking at the woman in front of him, his first instinct is to make sure she is fine.

The attraction between them is magnetic doesn’t remember ever having such a strong reaction to woman before meeting Autumn Briggs. She tells him that she is there on a work exchange program and knows his cousin, Bonnie. There is a part of him that feels at peace with her around and knows that he should leave. Until a storm brings the two of them together and they are unable to leave until further notice. This would ultimately bring them closer as the two began to confide in one another. Soon they cross the line of no return and Sully makes it his mission to make things work with Autumn once they go back to Edinburg. But what starts off as an unexpected encounter, her past and his world could threaten a chance at a future together.

I absolutely loved reading Sullivan! It’s clear from the very beginning that the main characters have an instant connection and it just keeps growing the longer they spend together. For Autumn it was hard to leave her aunt behind in Canada, but when the opportunity presented itself to leave for a while, she took it. Hoping that it would help her escape her past. Little did she know that meeting Sully would change her life forever. Meanwhile, Sullivan has done everything to make a name for himself, but his past with the syndicate is something that he hopes it does’t hurt his chances with Autumn. It would take a course of events to lead them back into his world in order to keep her safe. I loved seeing them interact with his cousins (from previous books in the series) and just how well they protected Autumn as she became important to Sully. There was a strong family bond/connection in this book that I really liked. The ending was so sweet and I cannot recommend it enough! :)

Sullivan ... alpha & swoonworthy

📖ebook & 🎧audio review

I loved Melanie Moreland's The Irishmen series, and SULLIVAN was a terrific spinoff. I was hooked from the beginning with the intriguing characters, heartfelt emotions, swoonworthy moments, and Melanie's captivating words. It was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Autumn Briggs is in Scotland for work, giving her an opportunity to escape what's been happening at home in Canada. She jumps at the chance to spend a few days away in a quiet cabin not knowing a snow storm is on its way. Sullivan Black is a busy lawyer who has been told to take some time off to relax. Heading to his cabin for some solitude, Sully is unaware his cousin has already loaned it to her fellow worker. When Sully arrives frozen from the snow he is shocked to find Autumn there, and with the storm neither will be going anywhere.

Their chemistry and attraction spark from the moment they meet. Sully fell hard and fast, he was caring, protective, and totally romantic. The two create an instant bubble, getting to know each other in more ways than one. Autumn, while being wary, was perfect for him, she had an inner strength, a big heart, and knew how to stand up for herself. I loved watching them fall for each other, but time isn't on their side with Autumn due to return to Canada. When danger threatens Autumn Sully does everything to protect her, but is it enough?

Being able to enjoy this book immersively was a bonus. The audio narrated by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell added an extra dimension to the characters and the story. The transitions by both narrators from Irish to Canadian accents were superb. John successfully captured Sully's protective, caring, and touch her and die personality, while Maxine was sublime as Autumn, capturing her sweetness, strengths, and fears. They ensured listening was both entertaining and a pleasure to listen to.

Once again, Melanie's storytelling was captivating. She took me on yet another emotional journey with an over-protective alpha and the woman who brought him to his knees. It was terrific catching up with Finn and Niall, Sully's cousins, and their wives Una and Anna. Finn and Niall definitely supplying some terrific humour. SULLIVAN was a feel good, unputdownable romance. I can't wait to see what's next from Melanie.

gasping wheezing screaming throwing up

Well, this turned out to be a fun and quick read. It had all the right ingredients to be perfect—sharp setup, cozy vibes, and plenty of chemistry—but then something sudden hit and shook things up. Thankfully, the conclusion landed where it needed to, softening the blow just enough to leave me satisfied overall.

Sullivan, a spin‑off from Melanie Moreland's Irishmen Duet (Finn and Niall), begins with a cozy, snowed‑in setup that quickly turns into a whirlwind romance. Sully heads to his country home for a quiet weekend, only to find Autumn, who happens to be invited by his cousin, already settled in by the fire. Their late‑night collision sparks instant attraction, leading to a steamy weekend of passion and secrets. Autumn reveals she’s being stalked, while Sully hides his ties to a benevolent crime family.

The first half is fun and engaging, with the snowstorm backdrop and their chemistry carrying the story. But the second half shifts into chaotic territory: predictable mayhem, stubborn choices, and a resolution that arrives suddenly in the final few chapters. Autumn's resistance feels frustrating—her reasons are understandable, but her refusal to accept Sully's devotion drags the conflict. Like, girl, if a man you felt so badly offering you anything to make you his and do anything to makes you happy who the hell are you to argue? The climax, involving her stalker and Sully’s criminal connections, feels rushed, almost like a "plot wave" crammed into the last handful of chapters.
Still, the conclusion lands, softened by the presence of Una and Ana, whose support for Autumn adds warmth and found‑family comfort. While the pacing falters, the emotional beats and side character moments keep the story grounded. Overall, Sullivan delivers a mix of cozy beginnings, fiery romance, and messy drama. It starts strong, stumbles in its final act, but ultimately finds resolution—reminding readers that even in the middle of mayhem, love and loyalty can steady the storm.

Hefty thanks to John Lane & Maxine Mitchell for bringing Sully and Autumn's story to life. John's delivery gave Sully that perfect blend of strength and quiet intensity, grounding his protective, broody energy in authenticity. Maxine, meanwhile, captured Autumn's stubborn streak and vulnerable heart with nuance, making her feel both relatable and endearing. Together, they matched the characters vibes seamlessly, amplified every tender moment, every clash, and every spark.

Sullivan by Melanie Moreland is a compelling and emotionally rich contemporary romance that blends intensity, vulnerability, and undeniable chemistry into a story that lingers long after the final chapter.

Set against the atmospheric backdrop of Scotland, the story brings together two seemingly opposite souls in a moment of fate. Sully Black is powerful, confident, and deeply entrenched in a dangerous world he has long accepted as his reality. Autumn Briggs is searching for peace, hoping distance and time will quiet the shadows of her past. When a storm traps them together in a secluded cabin, what begins as a chance encounter quickly evolves into something far more profound.

The forced proximity creates a charged and intimate setting where their connection builds naturally. Their conversations feel meaningful, their chemistry is undeniable, and the emotional pull between them is constant. Sully’s protective nature and quiet intensity contrast beautifully with Autumn’s strength and vulnerability, making their dynamic both tender and electric.

As the story unfolds beyond the cabin, the stakes deepen. The reality of Sully’s world and Autumn’s past adds layers of tension that challenge their growing relationship. The romance is not just about falling in love, but about whether that love can survive when confronted with danger, distance, and the weight of their individual lives.

The audiobook narration by John Lee and Maxine Mitchell enhances the experience beautifully. John Lee brings a commanding and grounded presence to Sully, capturing both his strength and underlying emotion. Maxine Mitchell delivers Autumn with warmth and depth, perfectly conveying her resilience and heart. Together, they create an immersive listening experience that elevates every moment of the story.

Sullivan is a captivating romance that delivers on emotion, passion, and suspense. With its just one bed tension, forced proximity, and a fiercely protective hero who will stop at nothing, this story proves that even the most unlikely connections can turn into something lasting and powerful.

ALC Review

I loved everything about my listen of Sullivan by Melanie Moreland. It’s performed in dual narration by Maxine Mitchell and John Lane. Coming in at just under seven hours, the story gives me some of my favorite tropes - one bed, protective MMC, and insta-love/lust.

Autumn is working in Scotland, and when a co-worker suggests she spend some time at a remote and cozy cabin, she can’t resist. Unbeknownst to her, the actual owner of the cabin has the same idea and barges in on her stay-cation. The fire isn’t the only thing that’s burning hot— once the shock wears off Autumn and Sullivan can’t help the connection that forms fast and furious between them.

Maxine Mitchell flexes some serious accent muscle as the HR transplant (she’s from Canada, on a work visa in Scotland). Of note is her scrumptious Irish accent when she voices Sully. The contrast of her performance of vulnerability as Autumn and her strong portrayal as a larger-than-life Sully felt like a duet.

Maxine wraps Autumn in her magic — she manages to deliver an FMC who is smart and intuitive, and also defeated, in a way that made Autumn’s character feel real. Autumn’s emotional journey was beautiful to watch blossom — and Maxine is so tender in those moments where Autumn leans into love and trust with Sully.

And Sullivan? Melanie surely writes an MMC who fall hard, and Sully is no different. By day he is a solicitor who travels frequently…and he’s also involved in a syndicate that carries out revenge. If you’ve read Melanie’s Irishmen Duet, you know who I’m referring to. John Lane steps into the large shoes of Sully, commanding the mic with a rich, thick Irish accent. It is not a secret — John Lane is known for his convincing portrayals of Melanie Moreland’s leading men, and his role as Sully is tied do favorite (you’ve met Alex Bane, right?).

Sullivan is a heart of gold who falls fast for his unexpected tenant. John’s voice helped me trust that Sully was exactly the man he tells Autumn he is; I fell alongside her for his instinctive love. No one else (well, except Maxine herself) could make me love Sully as much as John led me to.

I recommend reading Melanie’s Irishmen Duet and then sliding into Sullivan (though this could be a standalone). Thank you to Maxine, John and Melanie to delivering this delicious story to our earbuds.

**Audiobook Review**

I was so excited when this book was announced because I was ready to be in the Irishmen’s world. “Sullivan” is a swoony, action packed, and heartfelt forced proximity, opposites attract romance which was such a great book to get lost in.

Sullivan Black is an Irishman in Edinburgh working nonstop and is in desperate need of a break. Deciding it’s time, he packs a bag for his cottage in the Highlands for peace and quiet in the small village. And he’s more than surprised to find a woman staying there. Autumn is working temporarily in Edinburgh and she works with Sullivan’s cousin who suggested she use the cottage to get away. Both are shocked to see each other but make do because of a storm rolling in. The connection between them is instant and both give into their feelings. Once they leave the cottage, Autumn and Sullivan start a relationship even though Autumn has someone from her past that is still looking for her.

I loved the first two books and I’m happy to be back in this world. Autumn is someone who I connected with from the beginning. She’s genuine, smart and wants to have a life worth living. She’s close with her Aunt in Canada so coming to Edinburgh was a big leap for her. Sullivan has all the Irish swagger and he’s just perfect for Autumn. He was part of the life that Finn and Niall were a part of. But he works hard as a lawyer now and is just as smitten with Autumn when they meet. I loved their chance meeting at the cottage and how they felt the spark almost immediately. Their chemistry was intense and they were great together. I loved how independent Autumn was and how Sullivan didn’t try to squash that down. The added intensity of the man back in Canada who was still thinking of Autumn had me listening nonstop to see how that would fold out. Once he became a threat again, Sullivan used everything he had at his dispose to find and protect her. I loved the ending. It was so sweet and perfect for them.

John Lane and Maxine Mitchell narrated this audio and they did an amazing job bringing this story to life. John’s Irish accent was amazing and I loved listening to him bring the protective and caring Sullivan to life. Maxine was perfection, per the norm. She brought the genuine and sweet Autumn alive wonderfully.

If there was ever a story we were all quietly holding our breath for, it was Sullivan’s. And knowing it was in the hands of Melanie Moreland only raised those expectations higher… but somehow, she didn’t just meet them, she completely consumed them. This book didn’t just give me a romance, it pulled me into it, wrapped around me, and refused to let go.

From the very first pages, the Scottish Highlands feel almost alive. The isolation, the biting cold, the quiet beauty of snow falling outside while a fire crackles inside… it’s intimate, atmospheric, and so vividly written you can feel it. And right in the middle of that is Sullivan, finally getting his story, and it was everything I didn’t even realise I needed.

The setup is deceptively simple. Sullivan escapes to his cabin for some peace, only to find Autumn already there thanks to a mix-up with keys. But what unfolds between them is anything but simple. The attraction is instant, yes, but it’s the way Melanie Moreland builds their connection that really got to me. It’s soft and slow in places, intense and consuming in others, and every moment feels intentional, like you’re watching something real take shape.

And then there’s Autumn’s story… and this is where the book truly gripped me. That lingering unease she carries from Canada, those couple of dates that didn’t sit right, it’s not loud or overdone. It’s quiet, almost like a whisper beneath the surface, but it never leaves. You feel it in the background of every scene, this sense that something isn’t right, that something is coming. The way it’s written is so clever, so controlled, that it had me on edge without even realising why at first.

When that tension starts to tighten, it hits. Suddenly the cozy, snowed-in romance is laced with fear, urgency, and those heart-stopping moments that make your chest tighten. And through it all, Sullivan… the way he steps up, the way his protectiveness isn’t overbearing but deeply felt, it just adds another layer to an already rich story.

And as if that wasn’t enough, getting glimpses of Finn, Niall, and their partners felt like coming home. Those small moments added warmth and familiarity, grounding the story even further.

What I appreciated most, though, is that there’s no forced, unnecessary breakup. The drama comes from real stakes, from genuine danger and emotion, not miscommunication. It makes everything feel stronger, more mature, more earned.

This book is the perfect blend of swoon and suspense, softness and intensity. Melanie Moreland didn’t just write a good story here, she crafted something immersive, something that lingers. I didn’t just read Sullivan and Autumn’s story… I felt it.

Sully (Sullivan) and Autumn’s story grabbed my heart, shook it up and left it feeling blissful. Sully is an Irishman living in Scotland. He is also a wealthy lawyer with workaholic tendencies, a fierce loyalty to his family and friends, and a dominant take charge attitude. Fate places both Sully and Autumn at his small cottage at the same time, with a snow storm raging outside. Both are instantly attracted and their planned solitary getaways become a decidedly steamy weekend for two. Sully knows instantly that Autumn has claimed his heart, but Autumn is hesitant to acknowledge those feelings, even to herself. Her ex turned into a stalker, leaving her determined to be more cautious and less trusting. Still, there is just something about Sully that calls to her.

They decide to take a chance and see where there relationship could go in the few weeks she has left in Scotland, before she returns to Canada. They become inseparable outside of working, and both are soon thinking in terms of commitment with her finding a way to live in Scotland with him. But Sully is keeping secrets that are exposed before he is ready. She has seen his lighter, very charming, possessive and attentive side, but when she is in danger the darker, protective and deadly side comes out to play. Will she accept his darker side and his connections to a powerful and dangerous world? Or will she walk away, taking his heart with her?

Their superheated chemistry, flirty banter and deep conversations held my attention. I loved their playfulness, his charm and her sweetness. Both had more than enough reasons to think that true love had passed them by, then they were swept up into a whirlwind romance. I loved the feistiness of Sully’s aunt Roisin and Autumn’s pseudo aunt Lynn. They act as anchors and sources of wisdom for Sully and Autumn. The loyalty, camaraderie, and unconditional support among the Irish cousins and their chosen partners add to the enjoyment of story. This book provides an epic romance, wonderful characters and enough twists and suspense to make it both heartwarming and thrilling. It has my wholehearted recommendation.

5 A Life Changing Moment Stars!!

Imagine being in a snowy cottage in a little village in Scotland thinking you’re going to get some much needed away time when all of a sudden the front door swings open letting in all the snow and cold along with a tall, dark and handsome stranger. This is how this amazing book by Ms. Moreland starts and I loved every single piece of this book!

Sully and Autumn come from two very different worlds and that’s putting it mildly. Autumn is in Edinburg on a work trip and needed a weekend to just relax so her friend sends her to what she thinks will be an unoccupied cottage in a little village. But Sully has the same plans and when these two meet, while it’s a little awkward to begin with, by the end of the weekend everything has changed and for all the right reasons.

Sully is a man that gets what he wants and he never in his life expected love or to be so attracted to a woman that by the end of their couple of days together, he wants Autumn to be his forever. Their chemistry is enough to melt the massive amount of snow that fell while they were keeping each other warm inside. Autumn doesn’t know what to think, but she knows that Sully could be her forever. There’re just a few obstacles in their way, specifically Autumn lives in Toronto and Sully in Edinburg. One thing is for sure, Sully will do whatever it takes to get Autumn to make Edinburg her home too.

Along the way to their all-consuming love and passion for each other, there’s two worlds that collide, a man from Autumn’s past that just doesn’t want to let go, a family emergency and reconciling what everything means to get to their HEA.

John Lane and Maxine Mitchell brought every line and scene to life so magnificently. I was captivated from beginning to end. Their accents were spot on. I could feel the love, passion, fear and friendship coming through loud and clear. The listening experience expanded my love for this book. I also loved getting to be back in the Irishmen world. We met the inhabitants of this world in Niall and Finn’s books.

My heart is so happy right now having listened to another amazing book by Ms. Moreland. I’m definitely going to be listening to this book again.

**Sexy Irishmen!**

**ALC Review!**

"Sullivan" is an Irishman Duet Spin-Off narrated by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell. I’ve been eagerly waiting for Sullivan ever since getting a glimpse of him in both the Finn and Niall books, and oh my, he is one sexy Irishman who did not disappoint at all! What was supposed to be a relaxing, quiet weekend at his cottage in Scotland turns out to be surprising when he meets his cousin's coworker, Autumn.

Autumn, who is only in Scotland for a few more weeks for work before heading back home to Canada, is completely taken aback when Sully shows up at the cottage. Both Sully and Autumn find themselves snowed in for the weekend, unable to go anywhere. Their attraction and chemistry are fierce, intense, and oh-so-passionate. The more Sully and Autumn get to know each other, the more Sully senses there’s a reason why Autumn came to Scotland. I love how supportive he is, not pushing her, but allowing her to open up to him. He becomes protective and possessive when she reveals her vulnerability. He even calls in backup by contacting Finn and Niall to help protect her when she has to go back to Canada.

The duet narration by John Lane and Maxine Mitchell is fantastic, as they bring so much life to the characters of Sullivan and Autumn, forming a dynamic team. Lane’s dark, gruff Irish accent perfectly captures Sully’s protective instincts, softer, caring side, and his love for family. Meanwhile, Mitchell does an amazing job voicing Autumn’s sunny personality as she slowly rebuilds her confidence. This truly makes it impossible to stop listening, leaving me wanting so much more from Sully and Autumn.

Getting glimpses of our favorite couples felt so heartfelt and brought everything full circle, which I love about interconnected series. Moreland has done an incredible job crafting characters and these wonderful worlds, making it impossible not to want to fully immerse myself in these stories and get lost in them.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

ARC Review:

What would you do if you were stuck in a cottage during a snowstorm with a handsome man and the heat goes out? You cuddle up with him, of course.

This is a charming story about the right people finding each other at exactly the right time. It’s beautifully written, never feeling cheesy or rushed. Sullivan and Autumn are drawn to each other instantly, and their meet-cute is one worth retelling. While their romance may seem like insta-love at first glance, it unfolds naturally, making every moment feel believable and earned.

Autumn is a Canadian in Scotland, taking a break from a stressful situation back in Toronto. On a temporary assignment, she quickly builds meaningful friendships, she’s just that kind of person. Her warmth pulls people in, and her open-hearted approach to life is refreshing. Though shaped by her past, she’s never weak or indecisive. She stands firm in her choices, balancing vulnerability with quiet strength and grace.

Then there’s Sullivan Black, our gentle giant. He’s deeply aware of his presence and careful with those around him, especially given how intimidating he can appear. He meets Autumn’s hesitation with patience and reassurance, always making it clear he wants to protect, not control. He respects her autonomy, gives her space to decide, and never pushes. Sullivan is the perfect blend of old-school protector and modern partner, steady, respectful, and selfless. Oof… this man is dangerously hot. The spicy scenes? Even hotter 🔥 And every time he calls her “mo fhiadh beag”… I melt a little more 🫠

It’s refreshing to see supportive, loving families on both sides. This is a feel-good romance with heart, heat, and just a touch of action (no spoilers!).

A heartfelt thank you to Melanie and the author agency for the ARC, I truly enjoyed this story.

One storm. One cottage. One dangerously charming Irishman whispering you mo fhiadh beag 42 times… yeah, we’re all unwell and not a single one of us is recovering anytime soon.

🍀 “Maybe I’m thinking I found the best thing in my life and I don’t want to let her go.”

This can absolutely be read as a standalone, but I loved getting little glimpses of Finn and Niall… their brotherly banter adds so much charm and familiarity. Autumn is delightfully cheeky and easy to root for, especially as her chemistry with Sullivan goes from instant spark to something deeper and harder to ignore.

🍀 “Let your heart guide you, Autumn. It knows what it needs.”

The cozy cabin setup mixed with that intense, protective energy (hello “touch her and die” vibes) made the romance feel both swoony and grounded. Melanie Moreland has such a gift for writing stories that feel real and authentic, and her characters, main and secondary, are the kind you get completely addicted to.

🍀 You ever read a book and think, “I, too, would stay snowed in for this man”?
Irish accent, wears kilts, Gaelic pet name, curses (and somehow makes it sound delightful), folds you origami flowers, and leaves handwritten notes… and yeah, I’d absolutely stay snowed in for that man!

There’s a certain kind of romance that feels like stepping into a storm and realizing you don’t actually want shelter. Sullivan lives in that space.

This isn’t a soft, gentle love story. It has edges. Sully Black isn’t just brooding, he’s carved out of a life most people would run from, and he wears that reality like armor. Autumn Briggs doesn’t arrive to fix him, and that’s part of what makes this story work so well. She’s carrying her own history, her own fractures, and the connection between them feels less like fate and more like recognition.

The cabin setting does more than force proximity. It strips everything down. No distractions, no escape routes, just two people circling each other, testing boundaries, revealing pieces slowly. The tension isn’t loud. It hums. It lingers in pauses, in glances, in the things left unsaid.

What stands out most is how the story handles control and vulnerability. Sully is used to commanding every situation, but with Autumn, that certainty slips. And Autumn, despite her quiet strength, doesn’t simply yield. Their relationship builds through friction as much as attraction, which makes every moment feel earned rather than inevitable.

When the outside world pushes back in, the tone shifts. The danger isn’t just background noise, it actively threatens what they’re building. The romance becomes a question rather than a guarantee, and that uncertainty gives the story its bite.

The audiobook performance leans into this beautifully. John Lane delivers Sully with weight and restraint, while Maxine Mitchell brings grounded emotional clarity to Autumn. Together, they create a dynamic that feels intimate without being overly polished.

Sullivan isn’t about perfect love or easy answers. It’s about two people deciding, despite everything stacked against them, that walking away might be harder than staying.
