He spent six months looking for the beautiful, bookish girl who dropped a patch. Finding her was the easy part.
Logan
I grip too hard.
My pitch. My family. Even the memory of Georgie, the girl I met six months ago at a Spring Training fan event. The girl with the dimpled smile, the coffee-shop patch pinned to her Chucks, and a beat-up paperback in her hands.
While I should be working on the spiraling anxiety wrecking my pitch, I find myself looking for Georgie instead. In every ballpark. Every coffee shop. Every city our team passes through.
Then I get sent down to the minors, walk into a coffee shop that feels like home— And there she is.
Suddenly, my anxiety takes a back seat to the gorgeous girl who wears her grief like a badge of honor instead of something to hide.
But when you’ve spent your whole life gripping the things you’re afraid to lose, how do you know the difference between holding someone…
and holding on too hard?
Georgie
A dream is a wish that breaks your heart, which is why I don't let myself dream.
My mother’s gone. My stepmother runs her coffee shop now. And I stopped believing in more a long time ago.
Then a handsome baseball player spends thirty minutes talking books with me, and I spend six months trying to forget him. Until one night, he walks into my coffee shop with my name already on his lips, and suddenly, I can’t make my heart stop wanting things I know I can’t have.
Somewhere between bookish debates, quinceañera dance floors, and a Jeep the color of a pumpkin, I start letting myself believe.
But when Logan gets called up to the Majors in time for the World Series—the Fall Classic itself—everything changes.
He’s about to live the dream he’s chased his whole life. I’ve limited mine to this sleepy Southern town.

I really enjoyed this. It was cute, bookish and full of banter. It had fall vibes, found family, and anxiety rep that was handled really well. Overall, a great read.
I loved this beautiful story! I had only read the first book in the series before reading this one, yet had no trouble jumping in and enjoying this one.
Logan and Georgie were such wonderful characters. They both had things they were working through in their lives and both had processed the loss of their mothers differently. I loved seeing how good these two characters were for each other. They both genuinely cared for each other, worked to try to help lift up each other and be supportive, and grew in the way they learned to communicate and tell each other how they felt. I'm definitely a big fan of their love story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, however I also purchased a print copy. All opinions are my own.
Does Kate Watson ever write a bad book? I've been waiting for this story and it lived up to my expectations. Love the anxiety rep, the swoons, the chemistry between the two mcs.
“This kiss is the thrill of an autumn breeze after a long summer, the warmth of cuddling under a blanket on a winter’s day. It’s excitement and solace, reassurance and promises, all in one.”
I received an advanced digital copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or otherwise.
This is such a cute story! Bookish main characters, nods to Cinderella, fall vibes, he takes care of her, found family, and deep conversations about life and literature in a coffee shop – I got totally sucked in and read it in about a day! Logan and Georgie are so sweet. I couldn’t help but cheer for them to find each other and make their relationship work. They are kind and thoughtful and supportive of each other while also growing and fighting their own battles. I enjoyed seeing characters from previous books, and Alma and Olivia are wonderful side characters!
I’ve only read Since We’ve No Place to Go and The Setup Man in this series (I recommend them!), and The Fall Classic feels more serious than those two books. Humor is still present, but Logan is a more serious, thoughtful character, and the feel of the book seems to follow that.
Overall, I really liked this book, but a few communication issues felt unresolved/brushed over to me. Also, some of the timeline/sequence of events felt off; something was mentioned but then never happened in the story when it was supposed to based on the information we’re told (unless I just totally missed it!). And a side character gets incorporated into the story and learns/knows things very quickly – like more quickly that seems logical. None of this took me out of the story but did leave me with questions.
I still really enjoyed this book and absolutely recommend it! It’s a wonderful, sweet contemporary baseball romance with cozy fall vibes!
Content: no-spice/kisses-only romance (admiring/thoughts of desire, slightly more heated/descriptive kisses); clean language; loss and grief processing; neglectful/critical parenting; anxiety; vague hospital scenes
I truly do love Logan. And I love Georgie. And I love Logan + Georgie.
But I would have loved them SO MUCH MORE in a book that:
1) was 100 pages shorter 2) had a PLOT, good gravy 3) knew how to pace itself 4) was self-aware enough to realize when family “trauma” was becoming entirely suffocating, unconvincing, repetitive, and forcibly melodramatic 5) wasn’t…boring
So far this series started with a 5 and has slowly decreased every book.
*cry*
An unfortunate 2.25 ⭐️ for me, all awarded to Book Boyfriend Logan and bookcase romantic gestures 🥹.

THIS BOOK🥹❤️
The Fall Classic is going to take you on a journey. Our main characters have had some pretty traumatic pasts. They’ve loved big, lost big, and have the trauma to prove it.
BUT.
It’s how they move forward each day believing in the good. Hoping for it. Even when they each have very different ways of approaching those things.
Logan is a baseball player whose anxiety and fear of losing the things he loves have him gripping everything a little too tightly. Six months after meeting a beautiful, bookish girl at Spring Training, he’s still searching for her with nothing but the patch she accidentally left behind. Then, after being sent to the minors, he walks into a coffee shop…and there she is.
Georgie has built a small, guarded life around her mother’s coffee shop after losing her. But Logan has a way of making her believe that maybe opening her heart again could be worth the risk.
And WHAT A LOVE STORY!
This is one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve read. Full stop.
It’s real, quirky, completely raw, and so beautifully messy. I loved watching Logan and Georgie navigate grief, fear, anxiety, hope, and the courage it takes to believe in something good when you know exactly what it feels like to lose it.
And the side characters are ALWAYS an added bonus in a Kate Watson book. I will now need future books for Liv, Jake, and even Dr. Chang. 😂 And I DEFINITELY need more Alma in my life🙌🏼😂
This is one of those messy, beautiful stories that makes you remember why you love reading.

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕍𝕚𝕓𝕖: A heartfelt, emotionally rich contemporary romance with a fairy-tale-inspired premise, thoughtful character development, realistic family dynamics, and a deeply satisfying HEA.
𝕄𝕪 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤: I don't usually gravitate toward stories that are inspired by or loosely based on fairy tales, but Kate Watson did such an incredible job with this one. Honestly, she's become one of my favorite authors, and I absolutely loved what she did with the characters, the plot, and especially the emotional payoff.
There was just the right balance of realism and hope. The story allowed room for difficult emotions and imperfect relationships while still giving us the kind of HEA I love. It felt earned rather than overly neat or unrealistic.
I also really loved the characters and how much emotional depth they were given. The story genuinely made me care about them, and that's exactly what I want from a romance.
I LOVE this series, but I think this one might be my favorite. I can already tell this is a book I'll want to reread in the future, and that's always a sign of a high rating read for me!

This was such a sweet, emotional read with SO much angst🥹
I absolutely loved the deeper book discussions between Logan and Georgie. As a fellow book lover, those were some of my favorite moments and I felt like they added so much depth to their relationship📚🤎
I also really loved seeing the character growth in both Georgie and Logan throughout the story. They were both carrying so much and watching them slowly work through it and grow was really beautiful.
And I have to mention Olivia because her completely unfiltered comments had me dying 😂😂
Also…the sideways ice cream cone🥹🥹 IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW.
Overall, this was a sweet sports romance with lots of emotion, bookish moments, and a very caring MMC🤎

Another great book in the Catching Feelings Series! I’ve loved following the Fischer triplets’ stories from Leisel in Since We’ve No Place to Go to Lucas in The Setup Man and now Logan in The Fall Classic.
Kate Watson’s ability to talk baseball (and make me, a non-sports person, interested in it) and combine it with romance is really impressive! Her books are the only reason I’ve started sort of paying attention during baseball games with my husband (he’s happy about that 😂).
The Fall Classic has more of a serious tone than the others in the series (that I’ve read so far) and was maybe more of a drama than it was a romcom, but it worked for Logan’s personality and vibe. This story seemed to lean more philosophical and psychological in nature as it discusses topics like anxiety, dealing with the loss of a parent and parental neglect/manipulation. Logan and Georgie also talk a lot about poetry/children’s literature interpretations, which fits the characters’ personalities (and I personally enjoyed) but might lose some readers if that’s not something they’re interested in.
Overall, I really liked the story and the characters, and thought it was a good conclusion for the Fischer triplets! Kate Watson is a great writer, and I’ve enjoyed all of the books I’ve read by her so far!
❗️Content considerations: Kisses only (some description), almost no language (one use of h*ll), description of anxiety/panic attacks, neglectful/manipulative parent relationships, reference to ALS and loss of a parent 💭Age recommendation: Older teen to adult
Thank you to Kate Watson and Happily Ever After Readers for a complimentary advanced e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
I love Kate Watson books and this is one of my favorites 🤗. I have been waiting for Logan’s story for a long time and it was well worth the wait ❤️. Logan and Georgie’s sweet romance just made me swoon 🥰. These characters really touched my heart deeply…there was so much sweetness….angst…tenderness….love. Logan truly is a Prince Charming and one of my all time favorite book boyfriends. Georgie was such a doll….so sweet and kind…the perfect Cinderella. I loved this book and highly recommend it, and the entire series 😍
Their discussions about books and poetry were quite interesting. While they didn’t always agree on the interpretation, they still respected each other’s opinions. I loved how The Road Less Traveled and The Giving Tree were woven into the story.
Marlowe (Georgie’s stepmom) drove me crazy with her unnecessary criticisms and backhanded compliments 😤 Thankfully, Liv and Alma had Georgie’s back.
Meant to Bean sounds like the perfect cozy spot to hangout with a book and a hot cocoa (or maybe an It’s Bean Real).
Logan and Georgie’s relatable struggles made it easy to root for them. I mentally cheered when she finally put her foot down and when he nailed his pitching 🙌😄
Give this book a try if you love heartfelt, swoony sports romance!
Thank you to Kate Watson for the gifted ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinions expressed are my own.

Content Notes: mention of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, death of a parent mentioned, use of “freaking,” use of “crappy,” use of “shoot,” mention of “wet work” and assassins, use of “dang,” use of “crap,” use of “BS,” mention of butts, mention of nudity (no explicit details), use of “heck,” use of “friggin,’” kissing, mention of drugs, touching, noticing and awareness, death of grandparents mentioned, some mild violence, mention of cursing (none specified)
This book! My word. It is an absolutely beautiful and fun and heartwarming story. The way anxiety and grief from both POVs is written and processed was just so, so real and relatable, and I feel like I was learning more about myself and being encouraged in between all the laughs and the swoon-worthy moments. Fantastic read.
TW: Anxiety, Processing Grief (past loss of parent), Manipulative Parents
This book is the perfect fall masterpiece! And it wasn’t just romance that I loved, it was the found family, the character development, and the friendships built along the way. Kate is one of my favorite authors, and this book might just be my top favorite of hers. Logan is seriously the sweetest man! There was definitely lots of giggling while reading, just to say. Logan took care of Georgie and made sure she was okay. And he bought her a bookshelf when he noticed that she had nowhere to store her books. Isn’t that adorable?🥹 I loved that he was always in Georgie’s corner and that he helped her start dreaming again. The way he loved Georgie so tender and sweet Georgie has had a rough time since her mom’s passing. She was the girl who didn’t allow herself to dream because she was scared of what would’ve happened if she allowed herself to do so. Georgie carried everything on her shoulders. She was used to grieving alone. And then Logan came and showed her that she didn’t have to do everything on her own. He showed her that she was allowed to dream and have people in her corner. It was a beautiful thing to see Georgie’s character grow.🥹 And don’t even get me started on the Fisher family. They’re all amazing! I absolutely loved the teasing between the siblings and the way they showed up for each other. The Mullet Ridge is probably my favorite fictional small town. It was so exciting to see the other characters from previous books come into the story. I CANNOT wait for Jake’s book to come out, I just know I’m gonna love it! The whole Catching Feelings series is incredible, I definitely recommend reading it!🩷
tropes: 🍂baseball player x barista 🍂Cinderella inspired romcom 🍂she wears his hat 🍂anxiety rep 🍂bookish MCs 🍂healing from grief 🍂”I’ll always come back for you.” 🍂found family 🍂he falls first 🍂dual pov
Content: kissing only, no language, mild violence (fist fight, not super descriptive). Also deals with death of a parent, anxiety and panic attacks, manipulative family
Genre: Contemporary RomCom
My thoughts: looooved this one so much. I always think whichever Kate Watson book I read most recent is my favorite. So we’ll have to see if Jake’s book ends up holding that spot or if Logan and Georgie will win out over that one 🤭
I mean, they are just the cutest. Their texts to each other I loved so much, AND we get so much book and poetry conversation?! Seriously, the best.
The tension is spot on, as always, and the moment of their first kiss 😍🫠
They are both on their own healing journeys and are working through commitment issues as they grow together and fall for each other. Caring for each other, showing up when it counts (and for the small moments), and supporting decisions made by the other one.
This one also has some fun cameos from earlier books by Kate Watson, but you definitely don’t need to have read all the other books to enjoy this one. Each can be read entirely on its own!
Logan Fischer has the yips and he’s stuck in the minors until he can get out of his own head and throw his wicked curveball again. Georgie has big dreams for her mother’s coffee shop, Meant to Bean, but she can’t actually put the plans in motion until her stepmother gets the business out of debt. After a chance meeting at spring training and then spending months trying to find this mystery girl, Logan finally finds Georgie and the two bond over baseball and books. Is their connection strong enough to hold or will a major league call up be too much for their new relationship to handle?
This book was sweet! As a fellow book lover, I loved seeing Logan and Georgie bond over books and especially loved the PHM reference! He falls first. Baseball romance. Cinderella vibes. Small Town. Anxiety Rep. I also loved how Watson’s books are interconnected. You don’t have to read in order, but it was fun knowing the other characters’ stories as well. Now I need to go back and read Lucas’s story!!
Thank you, Kate Watson and Happily Ever Readers, for the arc!
If you're looking for a bookish romance that has all the warmth of autumn, baseball romance, A Cinderella Story vibes and the perfect blend of humor and real-life struggles, this one is it! It was a combination I didn't know I needed, but Logan and Georgie's story won me over right from the start. Bookish characters are oftentimes my favorites, and I loved the importance that literature played not just for these characters individually, but it's role in their romance too. All the references throughout made this story feel perfectly cozy and warm... just as a fall romance should. The thing that I love about Kate's books in general is the way that she blends those fun, lighthearted moments with real life struggles to create stories that bring all the emotions without feeling too heavy, and this one was no exception as we see Logan's struggles with anxiety and Georgie's grief over her mother and complicated family dynamics. Of course, as a big Cinderella fan, I loved seeing those nods as well... they were noticeable, but it still felt like a unique story on its own. This is one you'll definitely want to add to your fall TBR!
The Fall Classic is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is the fourth book in the Catching Feelings series, but I do think it could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This romance was so swoony, the yearning, the comfort and communication it was so well down. There was some heavy emotional themes with grief/loss and it was done well.
-no spice -no swearing -Cinderella vibes - sports romance - he takes care of her
Top notch, for sure my fav of the series. Their relationship progressed so naturally, they grew so well together, but also Logan was so sweetly intentional. I have no notes! 🫠🥰
Would recommend this to a junior high student who likes rom-coms but I fear this story was SO boring to me. I was often skimming pages just to get to the ending because the content was repetitive and dragging 🥲
Here is another brilliant book by Kate Watson. This is a Cinderella sports romcom, with themes of learning to let go, standing up for yourself, and realising your dreams.
Lucas has been looking for Georgie, the woman he met at a Spring training fan event, for over a year. She captivated him during their conversation about books, and he's been kicking himself that he didn't get her number. When he sees her again in the crowd while he's pitching, the sight of her quiets his anxiety, and he is determined not to lose track of her a second time. They finally find each other, but this is only the beginning of the story. They bond over books, and aren't afraid to disagree with each other, but navigating Lucas' baseball schedule and Georgie's exhausting job provide challenges for their fledgling relationship.
I absolutely loved this book. Kate has done it again, bringing heart and humour to this story. I just wanted to give both Lucas and Georgie a hug! There was a beautiful depth of emotions and struggles in this book, and Kate balanced all of it so well. The Cinderella elements to this romance are vague enough that I didn't feel like I could predict the whole story, which was great.
I love the cameos we saw from Kate's other books! We got Rusty and Ash, as well as Jane, and Kayla. And of course Lucas' siblings and their significant others. I don't think this is the last book that Kate will be setting in this 'universe', and I am here for more Sugar Maple and Mullet Ridge stories!
What you'll find in this book: *Cinderella retelling *she wears his hat *therapy rep *baseball player MMC *barista FMC *bookish chats *he takes care of her *dual POV
Content warning: (from author's note) "This one has a lot of grief processing. I think it’s handled positively and in a healing manner, but I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. Neglectful and critical parenting is shown, as is anxiety and a lightly detailed panic attack. Hospital scenes are displayed vaguely in flashbacks, without being immersive, in case hospital scenes suck for you as badly as they do for me." Romance level: 3/7 (kisses only)
I received an advance review copy and am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
When this pairing was hinted at in his brother’s book, I got excited, when I started reading this, I was beyond giddy! There is something about the way Kate Watson writes that has me greedy for more, I just can’t help myself!
Logan is the other brother, but not the lesser brother, despite currently having a case of the yips at book start. The knuckleballer has some massive power in his arm, if he can get his anxiety to simmer down. Aside from his pitch being a bit off, his focus has been to find the girl he talked to at spring training about Narnia. A bookish batter! Amazing! When he sees her at a game, the world becomes right in many ways, and he isn’t about to let her slip between his fingers again. He tracks her and the book that was in her back pocket to a booth at the Meant to Bean coffee shop! Thus begins another intellectual conversation only about Robert Frost this time, he asks if she would be willing to meet him on the regular at the booth, and much to his relief she agrees.
Georgie thought that it was a fluke to find a bookish ball player once but have him track her down to her booth and request regular literary discussions – sign her up! She works hard to uphold her family’s legacy! She bonds with Logan over literature and both losing their moms. Their connection is natural and not forced which is so beautiful to read and I really enjoyed that while they had opposing takes on “The Giving Tree,” they both could respectfully disagree.
The moments that these two share are sweet and endearing. Their connection is undeniable and I loved that they went deep with each other. Sometimes I feel like one’s truest colors come out with in the some of the hardest of conversation topics. While there were some hard things in this book, Kate handled them like a pro! She has a knack for fixing us, if we become broken during her book! Job masterfully done as always Kate!
TW: grief of parental loss, anxiety, neglectful parent
I loved this book. I have to say I find the actual game of baseball boring to watch (sorry to any fans out there) but this book did make it seem more exciting. Obviously here, I am more interested in Logan and Georgie’s love story.
This is a spin on the Cinderella story. We have a stepmother, whilst not wholly wicked (although this is debatable by the end of the story), we also have a stepsister, however she is quite nice and does stand up for Georgie sometimes. Her father is absent, but not deceased, he is totally disinterested in his daughter though.
But let’s talk about our Prince Charming, Logan Fischer. He is a great pitcher for Mullet Ridge and on the extended team for Major League team Chicago Firebirds. However, he suffers from ‘the yips’, otherwise known as anxiety. He can’t calm the voices in his head. He’s also looking for a girl he met at Summer Camp. They shared a conversation about reading and he can’t stop thinking about her. He has a patch that fell off one of her Chucks (not quite a glass slipper) and he finally tracks her down.
Georgie is a hardworking girl, running the food truck extension of her late mama’s coffee bar. She is up at an ungodly hour to make the most of peak operating hours in various places and she works long hours and weekends, whilst also studying business management to gain a degree. But she loves finding time to talk books with Logan, whilst at the same time helping them both deal with the loss of their mothers.
This book touched on grief and how people deal with it a great deal but it’s handled sensitively and not overpowering the love story that most people are here for. It was a lovely story, with the correct fairy tale ending.
Oh, my goodness, I don’t even know where to start! The Fall Classic by Kate Watson is a beautiful book full of heartbreak, loss, hope, believing in yourself, and so much romance. I loved this one so much.
I have been anticipating Logan and Georgie’s story since it was first teased in The Set Up Man, and boy did this book deliver. I loved both Logan and Georgie. Their connection and chemistry jumped off the page. It was so fun to see Logan fall so hard and be so ready to admit it. He was such a dream. Georgie tried so hard to keep her feelings for Logan from developing but she was not match for Logan’s charm. The fall was so fun!
Logan and Georgie’s relationship is full of romance and chemistry, but it also full of grief and self-doubt and fear. Watson did a brilliant job of blending the grief and heartbreak in this book with the witty banter, sparkly chemistry, and swoony kisses she is known for. Grief is a big theme throughout the book, but I thought Watson handled the topics with such grace and love. The grief never felt too overwhelming. I loved how both Logan and Georgie learn how to handle their grief in different ways and learn how to live again. Watson’s little nuggets of wisdom threaded throughout the story are so good.
I also loved how both Logan and Georgie believe in and root for each other. It is so cute. They don't let their own personal worries impact how they feel about others and I loved everything about it. I adored everything about this book. It was the perfect addition to the series.
Thank you to the author for the #gifted copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
3.75 / 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️3 star: solid book, there was things to improve but they didn’t overshadow the plot.
SPICE: none! clean! LANGUAGE: none at all!
this book got me out of a romance book slump!!! the combination of the well developed characters as well as the rather complex dynamics within the built up world of the Catching Feelings Series, really quickly engulfed me in the world of this romance and kept me intrigued.
a large portion of this book is spent with the characters ACTUALLY talking to each other and getting to know each other which im always for. sure the dialogue felt cringy sometimes, but both characters were YEARNING for each other. i loved how both of them simply loved people out loud (even if it was hard.) also shout out to the author for a bookish baseball player ?????? didn’t know i needed a bookish yet athletic male lead.
also the Cinderella retelling in this gave HEAVY Hillary Duff Another Cinderella Story vibes, which i LOVED.
gave this a 3.75 despite me loving it, because at times the prose got a bit too heavy for me with metaphors and it got confusing to keep up, but that was probably like 5% of the time. i also wanted a clearer introduction on the whole marlowe dad situation bc it always felt shady to me. also im never expecting romance novels to be perfect, just a story with two people who we as the readers can fall in love with as they fall in love and i think the author accomplished that for me with this book!!
will be returning to this series for jake & liv’s book, that is the next one after this! i started the first book in the series “the set up man” and DN’FD it bc i was so interested in jake & the random girl he saved that i didn’t continue it.
Kate Watson books are auto read books for me. I always know I'm going to get a great story with great characters. And I'm not going to want to put the book down. This one hits all three out of the park!
I loved Logan in this book! He's not perfect. He deals with a lot of anxiety, and that makes him inconsistent on the pitcher's mound. But he's working on it. He's alsof working on finding the girl he met in a signing line. And one day, he sees her as he's pitching, and she makes all the difference.
Georgie isn't perfect either. She deals with a lot of drama in her family, especially from her step-mother. And the attitudes from her step-mother leave her feeling like she isn't good enough unless she's perfect, unless she does exactly what her step-mother wants her to do. She pushes herself, sometimes too hard, when she really doesn't need to.
I love the way these two help each other through all of the hard things they deal with. They strengthen each other. And make life better for the other. That's how any really good relationship should be.
About the book: Main characters bond over books Cinderella story Anxiety rep
I really enjoyed this super sweet closed-door rom-com. It is a Cinderella retelling and I kept picturing A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff and Chad Michael Murray. He is a professional baseball player and she is a barista at a coffee shop. They met and bonded over books several months ago and the story picks up when they finally see each other again while he's pitching on the mound and he runs out of the stadium after the game, unlike Chad Michael Murray who apparently just stops in the middle of the game to run after and kiss his girlfriend in the stands.
The anxiety and panic attack representation in this book was really solid and there's a lot of grief over deceased moms as well.
I enjoy my female main characters to be a little bit more feisty than this one was, but their dynamic was really sweet and their flirting was very cute.
Kate is a master of weaving hard life experiences into really sweet rom-coms and I often tear up while reading her books.
