Elle thought surviving the Heartspire was the hard part.

She was wrong.

Now she is lost between worlds, slipping through the fractures of dying realities, while Kaelren burns his way through each collapsing iteration to find her. With every jump, the cost grows higher. The worlds more unstable. The line between survival and destruction thinner than ever.

When their paths finally collide in a war-torn realm anchored by a living city, the truth becomes impossible to ignore. This cycle has played out before. Again and again. And every version has ended in ruin.

Now something born from those failures is coming.

A living nightmare stitched from shattered timelines is closing in on the last safe place left, and the people standing against it are the same ones who have already failed over and over.

This time has to be different.
This time has to be the last.

The Void Between Stars is the second book in The Thorned Sigil series, a sweeping, emotionally charged fantasy about fractured timelines, impossible choices, and a love strong enough to defy the end of the world... or be consumed by it.

J.K. Ross is an avid reader and unapologetic book lover with a deep passion for fantasy worlds and storytelling. When she’s not writing, she’s chasing wanderlust—having explored over ten countries in recent years, always in search of places that feel plucked from a storybook. Europe, with its fairytale charm, continues to inspire her imagination—especially Ireland, which she swears is a real-life fairy garden.

She lives in Arkansas with her husband and two children, where her coworkers include a very professional Goldendoodle named Ranger and a less-than-professional Maine Coon known as Grand Duchess Freya. Together, they make sure every writing session is filled with magic, mayhem, and maybe a bit of mischief.

The crew is back together! Well, almost. Elle is scattered in time and Kaelren is doing everything he can to get her back. If you love witty banter, welcome to the party! Book 2 is hilarious and chock-full of awesome sauce! Come for the story and stay for the laughs!

The world building from the first book seamlessly continues into the second, drawing you deeper into the enchanting realm, where you’ll never want to leave. J.K. keeps the excitement alive, ensuring you’re always engaged. It’s a truly magical experience to be whisked away to a fictional realm, allowing you to forget the real world around you. The characters are hilariously entertaining, interacting in ways that make you fall in love with them all over again!

One of the chapters truly resonates with me in my heart; I love it. Its impact is profound and unforgettable; it's one chapter I will never forget. It's so powerful.

There are some twists and turns I never saw coming and others I tried figuring out the entire book! I was completely engaged from start to finish; I never wanted it to end! This has been an incredible duology, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

I experienced a whirlwind of emotions while reading this beautifully crafted book! I truly recommend taking a moment to immerse yourself in this delightful adventure, which unfolds in surprising ways and is brimming with excitement! The characters and their journeys will linger in my mind long after finishing. This duology will live towards the top of my favorites! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Thank you J.K. and Book Funnel for the arc. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

There are so many incredible quotes, so I will leave just a few for a teaser! (It was really tough determining which quotes to include!)

"The garden is where my heart lives, and heart brings us home. You can travel a thousand worlds, but if someone holds your heart and stands in the place where you grew, you’ll always find your way back."

"... the flowers could carry messages if you knew how to listen.”

“When the time comes,” she says, and her voice is low and deliberate, as if she’s choosing every word with surgical precision, “you must take the leap of faith. Don’t hesitate. Don’t think. Just jump.” She grips my arm, her fingers strong. “There are no more chances after this, Elle. This is it.”

“I’m just saying. Sometimes the safe choice and the right choice are not the same thing. Sometimes you’ve got to jump and trust that the water will catch you.”

“Stop moving? My wing is falling off, and you want me to stop moving? That’s like telling someone whose arm is hanging by a thread to just relax and enjoy the scenery!”

"Time is not linear. Time is a drunk bee trying to find its way home. It goes sideways, it goes backward, it occasionally stops to pollinate something irrelevant, and it arrives at its destination only by accident.”

“Kevin, stop licking the walls.”

⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ 4.5/5 ARC review

First of all I have to thank J.K. ross for gifting me this ARC book.

I had such a great time reading The Void Between Stars by J.K. Ross. This duology delivered a unique and creative take on magic that immediately drew me in and kept me engaged throughout the story. In a genre where it can sometimes feel like everything has been done before, the magic system felt fresh and original while still being easy to follow.

It was nice to see everyone again. Elle is scattered in time and Kaelren is doing all he can to get her back. The banter was fantastic and there were plenty of LOL moments that kept me entertained.

One of my favorite aspects of the series was the way the multiverse was incorporated into the plot. Multiverse stories can easily become confusing or overly complicated, but J.K. Ross struck a great balance. The concept was central to the story and had real impact on the characters and their journeys, yet it never felt overwhelming or like it was included simply for the sake of being ambitious. The different iterations and variations of characters and worlds were fascinating to explore, and I found myself constantly curious about what new possibilities each reveal would bring.

I also appreciated how the story maintained its focus on the characters and emotional stakes despite the larger, universe-spanning concepts at play. The world-building was imaginative, and the plot kept moving at a pace that made it difficult to put the book down. Every new discovery added another layer to the story without making it feel bloated or overly complex.

The reason this lands at 4.5 stars instead of a full 5 is that there were a few moments where I wanted a little more depth or development in certain areas, but overall that did very little to diminish my enjoyment. This was a fun, imaginative, and memorable read that delivered exactly what I was hoping for and then some.

If you enjoy fantasy with a distinctive magic system, well-executed multiverse elements, and plenty of intriguing twists and variations, I would definitely recommend giving this duology a try.

The Void Between Stars was such a satisfying conclusion to The Thorned Sigil Duology. Do not misunderstand me, getting to that ending was an emotionally chaotic journey full of heartbreak, twists, turns, and Peeble’s sarcasm, but somehow I survived it relatively unscathed. Barely.

This book picks up shortly after the devastating ending of A Throne in Bloom, with Elle lost between worlds and Kaelren desperately trying to find a way to bring her back. From there, the story spirals through alternate timelines, or “iterations,” and it made for such an interesting blend of fantasy and science fiction.

Now, if sci-fi elements are not your thing, specifically alternate timelines and different versions of reality, you may not connect with this book the same way I did. But personally? I loved it. Watching the characters move through different iterations and seeing how circumstances shaped them differently in each one was fascinating.

The world-building itself was already firmly established in book one, so this book does not spend much time expanding the world further, which honestly worked perfectly for me. Instead, it focuses entirely on the story, the emotional stakes, and the characters themselves.

And the characters are really the heart of this duology. Elle and Kaelren were already well-developed in the first book, but seeing how they changed, adapted, and struggled across the different iterations added even more depth to them. I am intentionally being vague because this is absolutely not a series that should be spoiled.

There was one twist that I kind of saw coming, but instead of ruining the story, it made me ridiculously happy that my theory was right.

J.K. Ross did such a good job balancing emotional devastation with hope, humor, and just enough chaos to keep me completely invested.

If you loved book one, you are absolutely going to love book two.

I really enjoyed the unique magic system in this duology. The multiverse was well written and while it was an important plot point, wasn’t overdone or confusing. I loved the different iterations and variations. What a fun read!
World- I loved the continuation from the first book. The world kept expanding, and the multiverse was so well written.
Magic- Like before, I am still not a plant person. But I absolutely love the magic system and the root magic. The ending was perfect and the resolution was masterful.
Characters- The found family in this book was so well done. The transition from the first book to the second was flawless. I love Peeble and how extra everything is. Who would have known a beetle would be such an amazing supporting character.
Romance- The pining was perfect. I loved the multiverse aspect and how the MMC/FMC didn’t end up together every time, how different they were. It made the real thing matter so much more.
Story- This was the perfect conclusion for the duology. The story kept moving and didn’t drag at all. It was easy to follow and the transition from the first book to the second was well done.

Throughout the story, you follow Elle on her journey to end the iterations once and for all. Along the way, she learns so much about herself, the world around her, and the people she grows to love. She wants to be the last so no one ever has to suffer through it again. But in doing so, she discovers things she never imagined she could lose.

Will Elle finally end the iterations? And more importantly… will she get HER happy ending? 🖤

To reach the end of this duology honestly makes me so emotional. I loved this series with my whole heart. From the funny, sarcastic side characters, to the very broody Kaelren, to the happy ending Bryx gets... this series truly had it all.

There was one scene at the beginning that had me laughing so hard I was crying. I’ve reread it so many times because it’s become one of my absolute favorites. Then there were moments so beautifully written they genuinely made me tear up. And I will never recover from Kaelren and Peeble (my spirit animal honestly) literally running for their lives from sentient plants.

“I am going to learn every new mark on your body. I am going to make you say my name in ways you have not invented yet. And when I finish, I am going to start over again. Once will never be enough.”

Oh my goodness, this book was everything I expected and more! From start to finish, I was hooked and once I started reading, I didn’t want to put it down.

The crew is working on getting back together and Kaelren is doing everything he can to get Elle back. Peeble is still my favorite and I absolutely love all the commentary. I NEED a Kaelren in my life, the way he loves Elle is perfect and a jealous Kaelren is just 🥵.

There was a plot twist that I didn’t see coming and it was placed perfectly! J.K. Ross is such a good author and such a nice person. I had the pleasure of meeting her in person and I can’t wait to see her again at the next book event.

Thank you so much for this ARC. ❤️

I officially need a love that transcends across a multiverse, its that standard and nothing else.

This was the perfect way to wrap up Elle and Kaleren's story! You had the whimsical, the sassy characters, the threatening MMC who is soft only for her, the found family, and watch out for the danger around every corner of Wymire.

It was absolutely heart warming seeing Elle and Kaelren find their way back to each other. The representation of them being whole because they have each other is such a beautiful takeaway for me.

I had so much fun visiting this world again. So so satisfied with the ending and how it fit for the theme of the story. I am so grateful to JK Ross for allowing me to read this before release!

I was so excited to jump back into this story after A Throne in Bloom, and it did not disappoint. This book is just as adventure packed as the first book. I also loved getting POVs from multiple characters throughout the story, which helped bring everything together and added more depth to the plot.

We also get new characters who add new dynamics to this story. From the very beginning, this book had me on the edge of my seat, eager to find out what would happen next. The ending was also incredibly satisfying and wrapped up the story beautifully.

One of my favorite aspects of this series is its strong female main characters. You should definitely pick this book up to step into this world!

Thank you, JK Ross, for the ARC!

This book had me completely invested from beginning to end. I fell so hard for the MMC, but at the same time, I was constantly terrified that they wouldn’t find their way back to each other through all the timelines.

Every chapter had me hoping, stressing, and rooting for them because I needed them to get their happy ending. And when I finally reached the end? It was absolutely beautiful.

Honestly, I couldn’t have imagined a better way for this story to end. Once again, JK Ross delivered a story that made me laugh, cry, hope, and fall in love with these characters.

If you’ve been following this journey, trust me you need to read this one.

This book was such a wonderful end to the duology, and I loved how the story ended for all of the characters. The author did a wonderful job creating an ending for everyone that we fell in love with. The introduction of a new character Raskel had me laughing so much he was a wonderful addition. I really enjoy how unique this world is, and how the author paints a beautiful picture of the story and really allows each character to have so much depth to them which is why I think we connect with them. There was so many funny moments, dry humor, and really good spice. A fun read for sure!
