I love this story! I was uncertain how I would feel about these 2 characters and their plight.. I loved the first 2 chapters, then chapter 3 took a turn I was not fully on board with. There were some things that occur in chaps 4 or 5 that I was also not feelin at all either, but then after chap 4/5, things started to come together in a way where this book turned into a really sexy, hot, sweet and loving read..
I love Barry.. I would so have done the same thing that Petra did during that first conversation she had with Barry.. he just tugs at your heartstrings so much.. No way I could not have helped him either.
There are some funny things here too, but this is mainly a story of two people coming together, who seemingly have nothing in common, but find they fit perfectly together. How the unexpected often leads to our destiny path for us.. This is an age-gap romance as well.. She's 19 and he's 32 when they meet. A scarred war veteran hero, and a young vibrant woman with an old soul mentality, collide.
I love this story.

Quick and the usual spicy but it was actually very sweet and sorta emotional as well. For as short as her stories are, Kane knows how to incorporate the romance and feels enough that it doesn't feel shallow. Well done as usual 😆.

I was feeling very protective of the MMC Barry, who is a wounded vet with PTSD and met the FMC when he called an Escort Service because he needed a plus-one for a wedding (he's been off the grid for two years).
At first, I liked the FMC because she seemed like a very compassionate person who wanted to do right by Barry after listening to his story. Since there wasn't anyone else available on the day the wedding was to take place, Petra decided to go herself so Barry wouldn't have to go alone.
My irritation began with Petra when she started trying to pull Dominatrix-type moves on Barry. This man has been shying away from public for two years (because of his scars), hasn't had sex in twelve years, and Petra (a virgin, BTW) is starting things right out-of-the-gate with Barry this way. Why? It made no sense to me. It seemed disrespectful and I didn't like it.
By the time I reached 74% and things hadn't improved, I couldn't go any further. I just wish I had read it first on KU instead of purchasing it up front.

July 9, 2026Im not going to rate this because i feel like it would be unfair. This year i have not cared for smut but i am in a slump and didnt have anything and JK is always an interesting time so i thought it would be fine. But i guess not.
My major gripe was the age gap. Not the number of years between them but the fact the fmc is 19 (which i know is not unusual for JK) i just was kind of sickened by it this time. 21 was right there why does she have to be a teenager? And it was very often mentioned and brought up. So it just was not for me.

This was... entertaining! A spicy little nugget of smut and I ate it up. 😌 Throw in a dash of femdom energy, a gigantic hero with a soft, insecure core, and an absurd amount of affection (and yes, chaos-level reckless decisions), and you got "The Girlfriend Treatment."
It’s unhinged, it’s over-the-top, and it somehow still manages to be sweet underneath all the madness.
