Least Likely to Fall by Cheryl Harper has a strong message about high school bullying, which continues throughout the length of the novel. That’s one plus, and the first few chapters start out strong and kept me interested, but then things faltered. The writing and overall plot and characters failed to keep my interest. I was bored by the end and didn’t have any emotions invested with the main couple’s HEA. The premise is great, but the overall execution fails in the delivery.

Lindy is the principal of the same high school she went to as a teen, and where she was bullied. But years later she has become a strong, self-assured woman. When Maddie, a sweet girl who has a unique personality (which didn’t seem so unique or different) is a victim of bullying from two football players, Lindy brings in their parents, including Maddy’s father, Ryan who was the biggest bully to Lindy in high school. When Ryan comes in to speak to Lindy, he’s doesn’t remember her at first. Lindy doesn’t have a high opinion of Ryan, but it’s obvious he loves and cares about Maddy. Ryan is a single father. Maddy’s mother and Ryan’s wife, who was his high school sweetheart, died. He is livid that Maddy is bullied, and wants the boys punished. But then he figures out who Lindy is and is ashamed. He’s guilty and remorseful for what he did to Lindy as a teenager, which is glossed over. We don’t get any flashbacks or descriptions of how Ryan bullied Lindy. It’s all just telling and no show. But Lindy will remain fair and a professional and give the two boys their punishment, along with their fathers. Ryan is grateful for Lindy’s understanding. Maddy likes Lindy also, and responds well to her, which Ryan is more than happy about.

Ryan goes out of his way to see Lindy, acting as a concerned parent. But what he really wants is to get to know Lindy better and show her he’s a very different person than in high school. He wants to prove to her that he is a good man, and that she shouldn’t judge him based on what he did to her as a teen. Lindy relents in her opinion and finds herself growing close to Ryan and Maddy. Ryan wants to date Lindy, who tries her best to remain just friends. She’s worried about her position as principal, and the talk if she dates the parents of a student. Plus her past with Ryan continues to be a road block for them because she’s not sure if she can forgive him.

Least Like to Fall in Love is a simple story with very little action. It’s character driven, but these characters aren’t as developed as they should be. There’s not much excitement or grand gestures. Lindy and Ryan’s romance is tepid at best and not even in PG rated territory. Their chemistry is very lacking overall. Maddy was the one bright spot in the novel. She ends up making friends, and has a possible romance with two boys, one of which who was one of her bullies. I was more interested in her as a character, and I would have preferred her story as a young adult that shows the consequences of bullying and that outcome for both the victim and the abuser.

Least Likely to Fall in Love is pretty forgettable, and a pass from this reader.

3.5 stars.
This was a really nice read and I really liked Ryan a lot. He was cute and hot. I'm glad he was nothing like his teenage self. I also liked Lindy. And Maddie.
But the reason I couldn't rate this book higher is that at times I thought something was missing. Even the ending wasn't really satisfying. But it was still a good read and cute and fun.

New to me author - good book

now, I have the attention span of a gnat, so the fact that this book was NOT a DNF was shocking to me. I really about bailed on it at first, started pretty slooooooowwwww.

But, it picked up plot speed, the characters became people I was interested in and I actually finished it and gave it 5 stars. That is maybe more about me than about this book, but it was def worth the read.

In terms of spice rating, this is not a Sweet Romance as tagged in Scribd. It probably lies somewhere between a 3-4 heat level. There is only one major sex scene in the whole book but it's fairly but not extremely descriptive. Probably what they were trying to indicate was the relationship between the MC and LI was sweet and a fairly slow burn. A good story that kept my attention and had me rooting for the two to get together, though that outcome was nearly guaranteed.

1ish 🌶

Cute, very tame, bully redemption story with mcs in their 30s. It was very surface level for emotional depth, and lots of loose ends that didn't really go anywhere. But it was a nice pallet cleanser.

I’m finding it really hard to keep me interested. I don’t know if it’s because it’s written in 3rd person but I can’t finish it. I may go back another time

Good story but even better message! I appreciated that Lindy had worked to overcome the issues that resulted from her high school days and being the object of a bully. She was now a strong woman and principal of the school that was her nightmare so long ago. Despite her strengths, she still had lingering insecurities that made the story so much more authentic. That the daughter of her high school nemesis was the victim of bullying was a karmic twist that really drove the point home that "what goes around, comes around." Ryan knew he was an a$$ in high school and felt guilty for the agony he caused Lindy to feel. That his daughter was now suffering the same fate gutted him and reinforced his determination to make amends to Lindy and assist her in her efforts to thwart bullying in her school. That feelings other than guilt(him) and hatred/revenge(her) were making themselves known surprised(shocked) them both. Bullying is ugly in all its forms and has far reaching consequences than just the agony of the moment. It can affect you and those around you now and for a lifetime. "Least Likely to Fall in Love" broached bullying in an informative way but was a little lighter than I expected given the subject matter. Regardless, this was a good story and very enjoyable.

Great Book!
This is a great book by Cheryl Harper. Lindy Mason is a principle at Lincoln High School. Lindy has the tough job of handling a bullying case involving the daughter of a boy who drove her crazy in high school. When Ryan shows up at the principal’s office to get his daughter, the last person he expects to see is Lindy. This book is an enemy to lovers and a sexy romance. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me reading long into the night. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I enjoyed this romance that dealt with bullying at school and how some of it is reinforced at home. I really loved the main characters and how they grew through this in different ways. I liked how they dealt with it on the school level and personally. Good job Cheryl. I received this ebook from the author in return for a honest review. All opinions are my own.

I liked this story a lot but there wasn't enough ending; it abruptly cut off with no follow-through. Lindy got to where she needed to be, but I was just disappointed I guess.
I liked the characters and thought it had a good message.

I was liking the book and would have rated it higher except the book just abruptly stops at 90%, the story almost seems left open, definitely could have used an epilogue
