Israel in the Bible's Storyline: The Role of Israel in God's Plan from Genesis to Revelation
Many struggle to understand Israel’s place in the Bible. Is Israel still part of God’s plan? How do the promises to Abraham and his descendants relate to Jesus, the church, and the future?
In Israel in the Bible’s Storyline, Michael J. Vlach traces the role of Israel across the entire biblical narrative—from Genesis to Revelation—showing how God’s purposes for the nation unfold throughout Scripture. Beginning with God’s promises in the Abrahamic Covenant, this book follows Israel’s calling, mission, struggles, exile, and future restoration as revealed in both the Old and New Testaments.
Rather than treating Israel as a minor theme or a temporary stage in redemptive history, this study presents a biblical theology of Israel that demonstrates how the nation is central to the Bible’s unfolding storyline. The covenants with Abraham and David and the promises of the prophets reveal God’s commitment to bring salvation to the world through Israel’s Messiah while also securing a future restoration for the nation itself.
Through careful attention to Scripture’s storyline, readers will
• How the Abrahamic Covenant shapes the Bible’s message
• Why Israel’s national identity and promises remain significant in God’s plan
• How Jesus fulfills Israel’s story while also guaranteeing its future restoration
• How Israel in Bible prophecy relates to the salvation of the nations
Written in a clear and accessible style, Israel in the Bible’s Storyline helps readers understand the relationship between Israel and the church, the future of Israel in God’s plan, and the unity of Scripture’s message from beginning to end. The result is a richer understanding of the Bible’s storyline and a deeper appreciation for the faithfulness of God to His promises.

This is a very accessible, biblically faithful book about the history of Israel and its involvement in God's redemptive plan. I appreciate Vlach's comments about modern day Israel--how God remains faithful to His promise of preserving his covenant people, and how Israel's existence as a nation does not mean that end time prophecies are being actively fulfilled.

Absolutely brilliant.
I read this book with a friend, on her recommendation and wow what a beautiful few months we've had reading this together.
There's so much in this book and it's a great journey through the Bible too.
Would highly recommend.

God's plan for the world is through Israel, not without her. This storyline fills me with hope that God will defeat evil and establish His kingdom. The author accurately and responsibly travels through the Bible and gets it right, first to last.

Vlach really outdid himself with this one. Really loved seeing a biblical theology with Israel and found it very enriching and edifying.

Necessary
With all the antisemitism going around this is a helpful work. Read it even if you don't agree to be able to argue better.
