Today I read Infected by Matt Doggett.
Infected is a collection of 20 horror stories that hits the ground running and does not let up. Instantly there is a passage from the first story that created a visual that will haunt me for a long time.
There is something for everyone. Ghosty supernaturals, dread and suspense from a plethora of bad guys, creepy monsters, spooky kids and those way out of the way back road locations where no one will hear you scream.
No place is off limits for horror…gas stations, motels, convenience stores, massage parlors, sweet grandfathers….trees. Oh! And there are some spiders. I always appreciate some spiders.
This book is sure to satisfy your taste for a scare!

Not regurgitated.
Each of the 19 nightmare stories was unique. The "villains" (whether monsters, killers, thieves, or other baddies) provided plotlines which didn't simply regurgitate the previous story. So refreshing. ...Character voice ranged from adolescent relatives to malevolent scientists to colleagues/buddies to evil spirits. ...Furthermore, the "tales of terror" were unpredictable insofar that Doggett keeps his writer's cards close to his chest. Very rarely could I anticipate what's to come!

Another great book by Matthew Doggett! I enjoyed all the stories but some of my favorites were Night at the Morgue, Roots, The Death House, Uncle Elijah, and Breakdown Motel but narrowing it down was a challenge because they were all wonderful. I love the amount of story telling we get in such a short tale with these. Emotion is truly evoked from these and so many of the characters force you to care for them even if you’re only with them for a short time!

Infected is a collection of short stories, some action packed, some horror, and some that make you think hmm. The first story "infected" is one of my favorites. "Gassed up" and "Be careful what you bring home" made me think hmm. If you like interesting horror short stories you will like this book and have a few favorites yourself.

Excellent! A really great selection of horror, something for all tastes, a brilliant way to escape! I thoroughly recommend!
