This was a charming, heartwarming story full of warm friendships, tender romance, and cozy magic.

Ally is a young widow living in the quiet town of Caramel-By-The-Sea, home to numerous other witches like herself. When a handsome photographer comes to town, it might at last be time to gently lay the past to rest and embrace something new.

Jackie Vest's debut novel is lush and sensuous, with beautiful descriptions and vivid settings. I loved the world building and could picture it all so clearly.

The subject of grief was handled with sensitivity and Ally's emotional journey was poignant and relatable. I was fully invested in seeing her heart begin to mend.

I also enjoyed Ally's circle of friends and look forward to getting to know them better as the series continues.

This sweet, romantic cozy fantasy is a perfect spring read!

If you need a book that feels like a hug, this is the book for you! 🏮

Thank you to Jackie Vest and Booksirens for the opportunity to receive an ARC of this wonderful book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book may be a cosy magical mystery but Jackie certainly has the magic of world building mastered. Reading this book I truly felt like I was part of Caramel-by-the-Sea, a small town coastal witchy village, experiencing everything with Ally. I genuinely loved this book. The story is gorgeous, the world is vivid, the romance is romancing, the feelings are warm and bright.

Willow & Wisp Pottery Shop is such an engaging read. I was so drawn to Ally’s character from the offset; a hedge witch and widow who is still lost in her grief. Her journey of learning how to carry her grief while embracing life, helped along by mysterious gifts left in her pottery shop, was heartwarming. I don’t think there’s been a FMC I’ve rooted for more than Ally (not forgetting about Toil and Trouble, her twin feline familiars). I do wish we had slightly more of the romance on the pages, however the pace is so fitting for finding love after loss and has left me doubly excited for the release of Book 2 in the Caramel-by-the-Sea series. The mystery of the gifts appearing kept the pages turning but the real show stopper was the found family in her love for her witchy friends, the slow burn romance and the second chance at life.

Favourite quote: You were everything I’d imagined and more.

And that could not be more fitting as it is exactly how I felt about this book. All in all, this is the cosy magical mystery I didn’t know I was looking for - but I’m so glad it found me (just like the mystery gifts in Ally’s shop).

Some books don’t scream for your attention; they quietly wrap around you like a warm blanket and ask you to stay awhile. This cozy fantasy did exactly that for me. Set in the magical town of Caramel-By-The-Sea, a sanctuary for witches and their craft, this story feels like sipping cocoa in a soft armchair while rain taps gently against the window. Every page is infused with warmth, comfort, and just a touch of magic.

At the heart of the story is Ally, a young widow trying to navigate life after a devastating loss. Her grief felt deeply authentic and tenderly written, never rushed or overly dramatized. Watching her slowly rediscover joy, friendship, and the possibility of new love was genuinely moving. The romance unfolds softly and naturally, especially with the arrival of a charming photographer who gently encourages Ally to open her heart again.

What truly enchanted me, though, was the atmosphere. Jackie Vest’s writing is so lush, vivid, and almost sensory that you can practically smell the sea air, taste the chocolate, and feel the magic woven into everyday life. The world becomes a supporting character, I love that for us! I adored Ally’s circle of witchy friends and the way their coven felt rooted in love, healing, and community.

This is a gentle story about grief, hope, friendship, and learning that moving forward does not mean leaving love behind. Cozy fantasy readers looking for comfort, heart, and beautifully woven magic will absolutely want to curl up with this one.

Thank you to Booksirens and Jackie Vest for the ARC of this cozy novel and for allowing me to leave my honest opinion of my reading experience.

📖 ARC review 📖

A cozy, magical read full of emotion ✨

From the moment you step into Caramel-by-the -sea with its charming houses, artisan shops, and breathtaking ocean views—you can feel the magic in the air. And it’s real. Witches live here peacefully, supporting one another the way neighbors truly should.
Each uses their magic to enhance their craft: bakers infuse bread with warmth and enchantment, green witches make impossible flowers bloom, and hedge witches create objects filled with quiet magic—mugs that lift your spirits, bowls that make food taste like love
.
At the heart of the story is Ally, the owner of the Willow & Wisp Pottery Shop who lost her husband Jack three years ago and is still grieving. Her friends gently encourage her to start living again… maybe even open her heart to Rowan, a photographer new to town. Meanwhile, mysterious gifts begin appearing, each one tied to memories of Jack.

✨ My thoughts:
This is a beautiful, emotional story about grief—something not often explored so deeply in romance. The magical setting is soft and comforting: no battles, no darkness, just community, love, and healing.
At times, the descriptions felt a bit too detailed for my taste, but they also contribute to the cozy atmosphere.
I really enjoyed the characters and I love that this is the beginning of a series—we’ll get to follow Ally and her friends in future stories.

❤️ No spice here, just feelings

Of all the cozy reads I've had recently, this one spoke to me the most. This was my first time reading Jackie Vest and I thoroughly enjoyed her story. She drew me in immediately, speaking to my own experience with grief and loss. Ally and her familiars, Toil and Trouble, were really fun to go around the beautiful little town of Caramel-by-the-Sea alongside. And this town...whew, take me there immediately. I loved getting lost in the sights, sounds, and smells of this little place! When Rowan comes into Ally's life, it's cute and mysterious and comforting all at the same time. OF COURSE he falls for her because how could he not? I do wish there was more of the romance and dive into the characters though, but there was definitely charm galore.
I adored the witchy vibes, the friends, the little pottery shop, how mysterious gifts were left for Ally, and how she still kept James close to her heart, even as she fell for Rowan and his sweet familiar, Ash.
I started this book late in the night because I wanted something to touch my heart and break up the heaviness of my dark reads, and it did exactly that. It was easy to read, I whipped through it smiling, experiencing everything the author wanted me to feel and see, and I had a great time.

4 ⭐️ This book has such a lovely premise: witchy, cozy, and full of magic around every corner. Three years after losing her husband, the FMC has been letting life quietly pass her by, unable to fully move through her grief despite her friends’ well-meaning (but ultimately unsuccessful) attempts to help her heal. It’s the arrival of a mysterious stranger in town that begins to shift something in her, gently pulling her back toward living again, though he carries a magical secret of his own.

I found myself smiling through the first few chapters, quickly falling for the FMC and the charm of the story. While I was drawn in by the atmosphere and the characters, I did find myself wishing for a bit more depth when it came to character development. At times, there seemed to be more attention given to the descriptions of food and the town’s aesthetic than to the inner lives of the characters themselves. I would have loved to see that same richness applied to their growth and emotional arcs.

That said, it was still an enchanting and comforting read, and I’m so grateful for the chance to experience this story early. It’s a cozy, magical escape that many readers will enjoy.

This story is perfect for a quiet evening when you settle comfortably into an armchair, make a cup of cocoa with a piece of chocolate, and slowly savor every sentence. It is a gentle, romantic story about a magical town that serves as a sanctuary for witches and their magic.

Story is told entirely from Ally's perspective. She is a witch grappling with loss, surrounded by a true coven of witches. Magic is wonderfully woven into their daily lives and routines. After all, everything you do keeps a piece of yourself, and so these witches infuse their magic into everything they create. The story is beautifully structured and easy to read, yet the descriptions are deep and detailed, with a touch of mystery. There are no great dangers, but it is seasoned with a dash of humor and magic.

It’s a book about loss, friendship, and how to avoid drowning in grief while finding the courage to let in new love.

What a fun read! In Carmel, oops, CARAMEL-by-the-sea, witches are free to practice their craft (with familars that aren't only cats - I mean, why not?), plenty of good friends, and a budding romance. Grieving, young widow, Ally is introduced to newcomer Rowan and begins to move on from her husband's tragic passing three years previous. The mystery begins as a few sweet gifts are left for her in the pottery shop that she and her deceased husband operated. Questions surrounding Rowan are mounting, as are her feelings, and with the loving support of her friends she is aided in solving the mystery. This book is splendid! It's been a long time that I've totally immersed myself in a book that I couldn't put it down but at the same time dreaded the end. It's that good. Can't wait for the next.

Willow & Wisp Pottery Shop is a cozy, paranormal romance complete with witches, their quirky familiars, and a sprinkle of mystery. This book covers tough topics: death of a spouse, grief, and new beginnings after death. I wasn't quite prepared for the heart-wrenching story, but there was an HEA. I found myself smiling and crying throughout the book.

Jackie created an evocative town, Caramel-by-the-Sea, with fantastic female characters that I am eager to read their stories. These female characters are a true coven, not just because they are witches, but they are life-long friends that are truly there for each other. Each having their own special or unique gift that I am excited to learn more about in the upcoming books.

Thank you BookSirens and Jackie Vest for allowing me to read this book in advance of being published.

This one feels like a warm cup of tea. Super cozy, a little magical, and easy to settle into. Ally’s pottery shop, the small witchy town, and the mysterious gifts showing up inside her locked space are all really charming right from the start.
The author’s voice is refreshing and easy to read, and I loved the soft magic, the slow burn romance, and the found family vibe, plus the black cat of course.
For me it was about a four star read. I liked it, but I did have a hard time staying fully engaged. Everything moved at a similar pace and carried the same weight, so nothing really stood out or built much momentum. Still, it is a really nice pick if you want something cozy and magical.

I received this as an ARC through BookSirens, and while the premise of The Wisp and Willow Pottery Shop initially drew me in, it ultimately fell a bit flat for me. The cozy, whimsical setting had so much potential, but I found myself wanting more depth from both the characters and the plot. Nothing was necessarily bad, it just didn’t leave a lasting impression. A decent, easy read, very positive storyline, but not one I’ll be thinking about long after finishing.

I think this book is beautiful. Very aesthetic in the descriptions….however there was not enough meat in the plot of the story. The characters also repeated themselves a lot because the same type of events kept happening over and over. This is going to be a series, I want to read the next one, but I’m worried the plot will be too slow and dry for a Cozy fantasy.

Willow and Wigs Pottery Shop is Book 1 in the Caramel-by-the-Sea Series by Jackie Vest. I really enjoyed this story. Ally is still grieving the death of her husband, James, after 3 years. The book shows how Ally begins to heal. I thought the author did a great job of showing sadness as well as how Ally began to let go of grief. I love her cats, Toil and Trouble. Lovely enchanting story set in a magical town with strong friendships and sweet love. I enjoyed learning about all the characters and it seems like each story might feature a different main character with the stories set in the same town. I really enjoyed this first story in the new series and can’t wait to read more. I couldn’t put this one down.
