Lebron James is one of the best NBA players in history. "Lebron james: The inspiring story of one of basketballs greatest players" . By Clayton Geoffrey is very informal and gives alot of background information on Lebron Himself. As the story went on the author gave background information of the struggles and positive aspects of the protagonist of the story that was Lebron. Lebron had a set of goals to make it to the NBA coming out of highschool. The author completed his goal/ and or the goal of the protagonist of the story of being the first pick of the 2003 NBA Draft. The book in general has a very informal tone; it gave me, the reader, alot of inspiring information of my role model, Lebron James. This book made me very motivated into making my game better, and to follow in Lebrons footsteps. From a perspective of an athlete, I believe this story was easy to relate to. The protagonist of the story Lebron James is an amazing athlete and had his ups and downs as I do today in the year of 2015. My favorite part of the book was when the author was saying how lebron James started off playing Football in a parking lot of his complex where he showed off his skills of fast running and high intensity. Out of all the nonfiction books I've read, I believe this has the most inspiring and interesting, lines of text. In this case I believe there shouldn't be anything that should be changed about the book. There was no illustrations but the words of the author gave me images in my head of what was happening and or occurring. An athlete or a person who is working hard to achieve their goal should take to read this book, to understand the lessons that are being taught. In this case yes, I do recommend this book.
The best biographies teach us important lessons about people’s lives and our own. Lebron James: The inspiring Story of One of Basketball’s Greatest Players tells the story of how Lebron James rose to glory, from growing up in Akron, Ohio, to becoming one of the greatest basketball players of all time. It discusses his rise through high school, leading his NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers, and his social impacts.
This book made me wish that I could have seen Lebron James’ rise to fame from the beginning. It made me realize how rare and special it is that a person lives up to fame and expectations, especially considering it was given to him during his highschool years. His countenance during intense and competitive parts of NBA games is really strong. It is calm, collected, and determined. I wish I could have watched him grow both as a player and as a leader because of how inspirational his story was. It would also be helpful as it could give me guidance, as to how someone could handle that much pressure at the teenage years of their lives.
This book made me realize that success is not just about talent, but being determined and learning from mistakes. Lebron faced a lot of obstacles and criticism when he left Cleveland for Miami, but he still followed through as it would improve his career, showing his determination and dedication disregarding what others think. However, when he returned to Miami, he tried to make things right for the fans by leading the team to championships. This showcases his learning from his mistakes, as he made things right for his disloyalty to his fans and team. It made me see that success is about being able to see when you are wrong, being able to admit it, and fix things. Lebron’s story teaches that success and growth comes from overcoming obstacles and learning from your past mistakes.
This book made me wonder about how many kids are being held back by their surroundings and guidance. Lebron grew up without a stable family life, having a single and teenage mother. However, he was able to stay on track, having his coaches as mentors helping out him and his mother, and having a strong support system with his friends and family. In the book, the anecdotes about his childhood show that having good people around you can make a big difference. I wonder how many other kids filled with such talent are not in his place because of their guidance and surroundings.
This made me see that being a good leader is more than success, it is about helping others, and how some celebrities are not true leaders no matter their position. Lebron often uses his fame to talk about important issues like social justice. He has also worked to improve the education system in his hometown, creating the “I PROMISE” public school. This school offers guaranteed college scholarships to students, and provides full tuition and fees for the University of Akron. Lebron shows the true meaning of leadership through this, by lifting others and communities up. This helped me see that true leadership is about using your success to make the world better for other people, not just yourself, and also how deceiving some celebrities are.
This book made me believe that athletes can be a major part of creating change in the world. Lebron has spoken out about social issues, even when people disagreed with him, slowly changing the public’s opinion. This shows athletes can use their platform to inspire others. His commitment to helping people off the court proves that he is more than just a basketball player. It made me believe that anyone with a platform, in sports or elsewhere, can create positive change.
This book made me feel like I can get through any challenge using perseverance. Lebron has faced many challenges and setbacks throughout his career, but he always kept working hard, and ended up reaching his goals. His story of many comebacks and determination gives the readers a feeling of catharsis when he finally succeeds. Seeing him overcome doubts and prove his critics wrong shows that if you keep working hard, you can achieve anything. It made me feel that with perseverance, I can get through any challenge, like Lebron did.
This book made me hope that more athletes will follow Lebron’s example and use their influence to do good things. His successful work of giving back to the community and speaking out on important issues and topics shows how much of an impact athletes can make off the court. I hope more current and future athletes realize the power they have to inspire change and help people. As Lebron did immensely, and it will lead to a more peaceful society. This gives me hope that future generations of athletes will continue to lead by example and make a difference in the world.
In the book Lebron James: the inspiring story of one of basketball's greatest players, Clayton Geoffreys tells how Lebron grew up and became one of the best players to play the game. In his childhood lebron was very poor, growing up in Akron Ohio James and his mother moved from apartment to apartment. When Lebron was 9 he impressed people with his athleticism and one coach got james on his team and let him and his mother live in his home. Later He got on his high school team at st. Vincent st. Mary high school. But like the other legend Kobe bryant who was one of the best players at the time, Lebron James was drafted out of high school at the #1 pick by the cleveland Cavaliers. From there he was a 4 time MVP, 3 time champion, rookie of the year and all defensive team 5 years in a row. This book made me feel good because of his love for basketball and it was very worth my time reading this book because I love basketball. Like I say with all of the other books by Geoffreys, he did go a little too far into the career part of Lebron and He should go that deep into the childhood, but still a great book. I can make a few connections to this book, like he he wore 23 like Michael Jordan, kevin durant is a snake and left his home team like lebron did. The theme of this book is Greatness because of what lebron james has done in his career. He has so many accomplishments and a few people call him the greatest of all time. At a young age Lebron received the name King James.
This book walks you through how LeBron James grew up and got to be where he is now. The first chapter talks about his childhood and early life in Akron, Ohio. LeBron grew up with his mom Gloria James. He didn't have a father figure and that was pretty hard on him as a young boy. In an interview LeBron said,"Not having that father figure around was difficult when I went to some friends' houses, because they had their fathers and mothers around." A huge theme in James' early life was receiving help from outside his family. The first person to take James under his wing was a local football coach, his name was Bruce Kelker. Bruce was looking for players for his football team and when he saw the quickness and athleticism of James he knew James would be perfect. After Bruce took LeBron under his wing several other coaches throughout the years did the same thing. In middle school, James joined an AAU basketball team called the Ohio Shooting Stars. The kids on this team all promised to each other that they would all play on the same high school basketball team. During high school he became a rising star at Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School with his three AAU teammates and best friends, Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce ll, and Wille. As a junior in high school James was recognized as the Chosen One by Sports Illistrated. The attention and fame got in James' head and he uses that example as a huge life lesson. The rest of the book talks about his college career and being drafted into the NBA. He got drafted to the Cleveland Cavaliers and played with them from 2003 to 2010. James then became a free agent and went to play for the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014. Lebron then came back to the Cleveland Cavaliers and he still plays with them to this day.
I loved this book because LeBron James is my favorite basketball player and it just opened my eyes to see that he had to work so hard to get to where he is now. He didn't even have a father figure and he has become a huge role model and just a true inspiration. I would recommend this book to anyone who hates LeBron James because reading about all the struggles he went through and not having a father around might change their opinion about him. This book would also be an awesome read for any sports fanatics.
LeBron James: The Inspiring Story of One of Basketball’s Greatest Players. Written by Clayton Geoffreys, published February 28, 2015. This book is about the life of LeBron James. I really liked this book because I got to learn about the life of one of the greatest basketball player of all time.
The book talks about the struggles LeBron faced as a kid and how he found sports as a place where he could put those things away. He was constantly moving from place to place. He had only his mom as his supporter after his grandma dies. So he played sports as a way out, so he can give back to his mom. The book takes place in LeBron's hometown Cleveland, Ohio.
I liked everything about the book because it was detailed yet easy to read. Seeing how LeBron’s life turned out and seeing what he went through to get there is something I enjoyed reading about.
