And monsters always take those selected as their brides…
I’ve spent my whole life fearing the moment my name might be called.
But before the ceremony even begins, I’m dragged away and branded a heretic for what I am. Then sentenced to burn alive.
Only, I don’t die.
Instead, the fire wakes something inside me. Something savage and unworldly.
The problem is that a Monster Lord claimed me before the Chalice ever could.
And according to village law, that means there’s only one way to prove I’m his to keep.
Go before the Elite Mountain King.
Now I’m being hauled into the dangerous city with two Monster Lords and a hunter who swears he’s here to protect me.
Escape might no longer be an option.
Because the more they close in, the harder it becomes to deny the truth.
I was never meant to survive them.
I was meant to belong to them.
Author’s This story is a standalone fated mates monster romance set in a dystopian human realm ruled by undeniable attraction, deadly games, and possessive monsters. Each book in the Monster Games world can be read as a standalone.
Mila Young tackles everything with the zeal and bravado of the fairytale heroes she grew up reading about. She slays monsters, real and imaginary, like there's no tomorrow. By day she rocks a keyboard as a marketing extraordinaire. At night she battles with her mighty pen-sword, creating fairytale retellings, and sexy ever after tales.
This was a wild, dark fantasy romance! 🖤 The whole concept of a sacred Chalice choosing brides for monsters immediately grabbed my attention, and I love how the story takes that fear and turns it into something even more unexpected.
Our heroine has spent her whole life dreading the Day of the Choosing, only to find herself branded a heretic and sentenced to burn before the ceremony even begins. But surviving the flames and awakening something powerful within her? That’s the kind of twist that makes you want to keep reading to find out exactly who she is and what she’s capable of.
I’m especially intrigued by the Monster Lord claiming her before the Chalice can choose her. Add in the village laws, the dangerous journey to face the Elite Mountain King, another Monster Lord, and a hunter who insists he’s there to protect her, and there’s so much potential for tension, danger, and unexpected twists.
The dystopian setting, deadly games, possessive monsters, and fated mates trope sound like a perfect combination for anyone who enjoys their fantasy romance dark, intense, and a little bit dangerous. I’m curious to see how the relationships develop and whether our heroine will discover that her newfound power is just as frightening as the monsters surrounding her.
What really appeals to me is the idea that she survives something that should have killed her, only to discover that her life is about to become even more complicated. She may have been sentenced to die, but it sounds like fate has something entirely different planned for her!
A dark, dangerous, and intriguing monster romance filled with fated mates, supernatural power, deadly trials, and a heroine who is far more than anyone expected. This sounds like a fantastic choice for readers who love possessive monster heroes, high-stakes fantasy, and a heroine whose destiny is anything but ordinary. 🖤🔥
What the heck did I just read ? I’m so freaking obsessed and in love with this book , because let me just say no sleep was had at all . Dark , steamy , emotionally charged and utterly addictive. The world building, the characters, all of it was genuinely chefs kiss . What to expect. Monsters , fated mates , magic , twists and turns, possessive MMCs , kick@ss heroines , insane chemistry. And so much more . Just read it and promise it’s the best decision you’ll ever make .
There's a new monster in town.. or three to be curvy. Dawn, like every girl of the village knows what choosing day is and well she's was as ready as could be till she was betrayed and instead of being chose. She was taken before days before she was due.
But this has a sexy ..er I mean happy ending when it turns out for the best even not one, Or two, now Dawn got lucky number 3 when it comes to soul mates.
This author is advantage, and I love her writing style and spice she adds into each one!
I absolutely loved this book! But then again, there’s always a high chance when it comes to Mila Young books I’ll always love them.
She has this way of building characters that are relatable despite being different. And Dawn was no different.
Despite knowing deep down that something was different about her, she was not prepared for what would happen when the Day of Choosing comes.
But she for sure never expected the be burned at the stake or for it to not effect her at all & a monster to be there waiting for her.
But now she is with three monsters who are all vying for her attention whilst also fighting with one another.
But we also learn more about her past & history. Whilst also learning more about who she really is.
I absolutely loved the interactions between her & each monster. They had a way of bringing her true self out more & it was fun to see….especially when they got hot & heavy.
There was a bit of a twist at the end but it worked out so well for her because now she has her three monsters & there’s no one trying to stop them.
Another great book from this author. She really knows how to pull you into the story and make you feel everything the characters do. Dawns journey was full of ups and downs as she navigates the new world she as been thrust into. Absolutely loved this book.
🚨slight spoilers🚨 It was a good book. But at the end, I was left questioning what happened at the red moon. She's told, “You alone must choose the one to be your fated mate from the three selected.” And if she doesn't pick by the next red moon, she will perish. This made it seem like she was going to have to pick, and she would only be able to pick one. At least that's the way I took it. The red moon is only mentioned one more time after. I thought it would play a big part in the choosing of the mates but it didn't. All three become her mate. Don't get me wrong I love a why choose romance, but that just threw me off. But that aside, I enjoyed the book and loved seeing their relationship grow. I liked the twist near the end. It added that little extra that I was needing.
I've really enjoyed the Monsters universe that the three authors have created together. And that hasn't changed. Dawn and her men were all entertaining to read about and to read from their POVs. The pettiness between the three of the men was quite humorous at times, especially as we got further in the book and they started to realize that Dawn wasn't going to choose between the three of them and making her choose wasn't going to end well for anyone involved.
I did find one of the last twists predictable, but the why behind it was not something I would have thought about. All in all, it was a fun time and another enjoyable read in the Monsters universe. I'm looking forward to dig into the last book in this trio of books.
If you have ever read any books by Mila then you know this is a story you do not want to miss out on. Monsters, fated mates, magic, possesive, twists and oh so good. You need this book in your life.
So this was my first Mila ARC but not my first Mila book. OH MY WORD!!! 🥵🫠 Ok so while the story was a little different than the other 2 in the series that DID NOT detract from it in the least!!! WOW!! Those monsters! I was able to figure out who was behind everything pretty quick but the reason why! 🤯 DID NOT expect that! I was sucked in and couldn't/didn't want to put it down! So for that well done madam!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You also really captured what I love about an RH! You gave us the caring protector and fiercely loyal one, the one that makes you question their and your sanity and he's the first to just on board the sharing train, and the one who seems uptight and composed and yet when you get to his chapters you realize he's just as crazy about her! But together they provide the perfect balance of what she needs! 🫠🫠 Ugh I love them so much!!
****potential spoilers from this point on***** 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
Overall very well done!! I can’t wait to see what the 3 of you think up next!! But as far as this book goes you did it again!! I’m so proud of you for this amazing book!! Thank you so much for selecting me again for an ARC!!
Their Fierce Little Monster was a heck of a read. Mila really shook things up. While the story felt like the OG Monster Night books, it was something else altogether. Heck, one plot twist happened at the very beginning, and it changed everything.
Dawn was a soft character, but she adapted quickly. What I liked and found most frustrating about her was that she was willing to leave the guys at the drop of a hat. I understood the feeling behind it, but girl had no survival skills, let alone the information she needed to stay alive. Enemies to reluctant allies. They were constantly at each other's throats. It was more like ribbing, so not too bad. They were incredibly devoted to Dawn. Kazak was my favorite of the three; he's been by her side the longest. It was a friends-to-lovers situation. I know romance is supposed to be all sexy, and it was, but it was also hilarious. Dawn kept finding herself in certain situations with the guys, and at one point I just cracked. Haha
Mila hooked me with the first twist and didn't let go. It was unexpected, and so many questions spiraled from it. The realm of Grimvale was mentioned often, and there is a lot of rich history there. I would love a book set in that realm. The story moved fairly quickly with vicious viscounts and gamemasters, political issues, family drama, and assassins. I enjoyed it all, but two things really stuck with me. One being Insy. She was cool and a good friend to Dawn. Their friendship kicked off with pasta that would've made me keel over. The other was that damn aide. Eve was creepy AF. I for sure thought she was going to boil the bunny if you get my drift. The final plot twist was incredible; everything made a lot more sense after that. Their Fierce Little Monster was a terrific read, a must for Monster Romance readers.
I do believe this was my favorite book of this trilogy, as it was the one that I read the fastest and found it hard to put down. Thank you so much to RH Reads for the ARC opportunity!
Dawn knows she's different and she tries to hide that as much as possible but when its finally her turn to join the Chosen to see if she will be literally chosen for the annual Monster Games, she's instead taken away from the commons and nefarious deeds are attempted. This is when she meets 2 of her mates, and she eventually learns that she is not only not human but also the sole survivor of a royal assassination that took out the entire royal family, or so the person behind the assassination thinks. Oh, her 3rd mate? He's been with her the whole time, protecting her while also falling for her.
When she is taken to the city to be brought before the Elite Mountain King, she is kept as a quasi-prisoner and meets some very interesting characters. I liked the fact that Dawn's new bestie also found love during this story and we got to witness it in real time. Several times her life is put in danger and each time, her men save her. Eventually, they all decide to work together instead of trying to one up each other and they finally figure out what's really been going on, behind the scenes. You might be able to figure out who it is, cause he isnt exactly quiet in his hate, but the reason for it? Yeah, I doubt you'll see that coming!
The time is approaching for Dawn's first choosing; a time in the villages when girls are selected to be sent to monsters as mates to keep the peace. Except Dawn doesn't make it to the choosing, but is swept away by those who can't stand outsiders. She's rescued by two monsters who claim her as theirs, and the third monster turns out to be the friend she has a crush on. Together they travel to the capital city to meet the king and discuss what happened, but someone doesn't want Dawn to find out about her past. Will she choose her monster mate or end up on the wrong end of an assassin's blade?
This is a steamy monster romance in the world of the series, the Monster Games. It can be read as a standalone. I didn't have any trouble immersing myself in this fantastic world and all its delicious monsters. I loved the descriptions of the rural small town and the decadent big city with all its luxuries. Dawn was immediately likable with her strength and big heart, and I loved discovering who she really is with her. I especially loved her ferocious dragonfly. The three monsters are deadly gorgeous, but I admit to loving Lian and his crazy antics the most. When I say crazy, I mean totally insane! Sweet moments, hard hitting action, and intense spicy scenes. This book has it all
I cannot say enough how much I’ve been looking forward to the release of this series after how much I enjoyed the Monster Night series. However, I had a few issues with this one.
For starters, I was honestly very excited at the start of this standalone where it began with our FMC setting up traps. It really was giving more Feyre from ACOTAR vibes vs. how childish Sage kind of was in Their Pretty Little Monster. But then it felt like that was where the fierceness Dawn’s behavior was for the most part. It was a little disappointing.
I really struggled to get into this though due to a lot of grammar or spelling errors. I want to say that I know the work of an author is difficult and sometimes not everything can get caught by editors or if the author has ARC readers. But some situations like, “I can’t have the last Ice Fire heir vanish on us, so I need to check her on.” Where the sentence doesn’t even make sense surprises me that no one had to re-read a sentence to realize “check in on her.” Or even situations where it should be “she said.” But instead it said “he said.” Just errors like that which caused you to re-read and think, “Wait.. who’s talking right now?”
POSSIBLE SPOILERS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I’ve been reading Mila Young’s books for years, but Their Fierce Little Monster left me disappointed. Ive taken a few days ro write this review to try and convey why the lower stars.
My biggest turnoff was the heroine needing to consume semen to neutralize toxins in her blood. Making that the only way to heal her felt like a contrived reason to require a sexual act, and it gave me a major ick.
I was also frustrated by Dawn’s characterization. She starts out fierce and resourceful, but suddenly becomes a damsel in distress who needs rescuing at every turn. What happened to the capable woman introduced at the beginning, and why didnt she remain present throughout her own story. Its in the title but she definitely wasnt fierce.
There were parts I enjoyed, but too much of the book felt like filler between those moments. Meanwhile, the romance needed more time and development. The shift from hostility to love felt sudden, and I struggled to believe the emotional connection.
Typos and grammatical errors added to the difficulty of staying immersed. Ultimately, the enjoyable moments weren’t enough to outweigh my issues with the story and relationships.
If youve never read Mila's books before, please do. This was definitely not a good representation of her work. She writes some really great things.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I LOVE a good monster romance, and this series so far?! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!
Mila Young, you’ve done it AGAIN! 😍
DAWN, LIAN, CORVIN, AND KAZAK?! 🥵❤️🔥
I AM OBSESSED!
DAWN?! 🖤
She’s such a complex FMC! I love how she starts out thinking she’s just an ordinary human, and then BAM! Everything she thought she knew gets turned upside down!
And then she meets her monsters?! YES MA’AM!
AND HER MONSTERS?! 🥵🔥
The possessiveness?! The love/hate relationships between them?! The way they might drive each other absolutely CRAZY but still put Dawn FIRST?!
I LOVE IT ALL!!!!
The character development?! ❤️🩹 The world-building?! 🌙 The chemistry?! 🔥 The storytelling?! CHEF’S KISS! 💋
Mila Young has such an incredible way of creating worlds and characters that completely pull me in, and this book was no exception!
The journey these four go through had me HOOKED, and I am absolutely loving where this series is going!
GIVE ME ALL THE MONSTERS BECAUSE I AM NOT READY TO LEAVE THIS WORLD!!!! 🖤👹🔥
Dangerous monsters, possessive devotion, and a heroine born from fire.
Some monsters claim their brides. Others may discover that keeping her heart requires far more than possession.
Their Fierce Little Monster delivers an irresistible premise filled with supernatural danger, powerful Monster Lords, a protective hunter, and a heroine who refuses to be destroyed by a world that fears what she is.
What makes this story particularly intriguing isn't simply the dangerous men determined to claim her. It's the woman at the center of their obsession. Condemned to burn, Dawn survives only to discover that something fierce and extraordinary has awakened inside her.
And while the possessiveness promises delicious tension, the real appeal lies in one question: Will these monsters learn to love her power rather than simply possess it? Because beneath the monstrous attraction is a compelling conflict about identity, freedom, and the difference between being claimed and being truly chosen.
A deliciously dangerous premise where Dawn’s greatest strength may not be surviving the monsters but making them worthy of her heart.
I loved reading Their Fierce Little Monster, The author Mila doesn't disappoint her readers. She pulled me in gradually until I was inside the pages all the way the end and released with a relieved happy feeling. The action was perfect and the romance I loved as it was super heated. I loved the FMC Dawn and found her to be strong as well as beautiful. Brought up in a world that she thought was her home but to find out as the Monster Games came into play something different. I would of felt mad, angry, worried and confused to find out the truth but Our FMC she carried through it all with strength and proud of who she became. The three MMC Monsters were handsome and all three have the Touch her and Perish vibe to any that went to touch or harm the FMC in any way. I loved how the three went from sworn enemies to lets work together to keep our mate safe. So, if you love a Strong FMC, Handsome Monster Shifters, Touch Her and Perish Vibes, Spicy Heated Scenes and an Awesome HEA then you need this book.
Three men, one woman who refuses to choose, and plenty of entertaining chaos! Their Fierce Little Monster was another fun addition to a Monsters universe I’ve really enjoyed watching these three authors build together.
Dawn and her men kept me entertained throughout, and getting inside all their heads made the dynamic between them even better. The competition, the petty comments, and their growing realization that Dawn wasn’t about to pick just one of them had me smiling. Watching them come to terms with the fact that trying to force her hand would only blow up in their faces was especially entertaining.
One of the final twists brought an interesting layer to the story, and I loved the reasoning behind it. It was a great addition to the plot and made for an enjoyable reveal!
Overall, this was another enjoyable read in a shared universe that continues to work for me. Now I’m ready to jump into the last book in this trio and see how these authors wrap things up!
Holy Moly, that was fantastic! I love everything Mila writes, and when I heard she was doing a shared world with Lexi and J.R, I knew it was going to be nothing short of amazing, and I wasn't wrong.
Dawn is a girl from one of the villages that knows she's facing her name going in the chalice for the Day of Choosing. A day where a monster may just take her as a pet. She's betrayed and dragged off before the ceremony, and is saved by 2 "men." They say they're there to take her as an offering, and then her hunter protector shows up, and boy do sparks fly!!
These 3 monsters are completely devoted to Dawn, and the spice level between her and her men is 🌶🌶🔥🔥. The story is well written and super descriptive, all things I've come to expect and love about Mila's writing. You have to buy this book!!
I love how the author uses her imagination and creativity in these monster stories, that are quickly becoming my favorites. Prepared for what she believed would be a sacrifice, Dawn suddenly found herself facing a situation that both terrified her and awakened her senses, and how! Three monsters determined to claim her as their own, while danger was ready to strike. The story is packed with mystery, suspense, and intense action, featuring moments and scenes that made me smile—and even left my eyes wide with surprise. The descriptions of Dawn, Lian, Corvin, and Kazak conjured vivid images in my mind that truly intrigued me and kept me thinking. Each character was unique, with their own ideas on what was unfolding, and constantly grappling with the choices they have to make. An interesting and entertaining story in the "Monster Games" realm.
I've enjoyed the universe of The Choosing nights and Dawn's story was a nice twist on it! Following Dawn discovering her past which was hidden from her and the monsters who'd protected and come to claim her, this was an enjoyable read from start to finish. I enjoyed the characters of Lian, Corvin and Kazak; each of them bringing different qualities to the relationship. Kazak protected Dawn from the start, Lian kept accidentally killing the assassins before they could be interrogated and Corvin would seduce her by using her own desire for him to convince her.
The plot was interesting, the pacing was great and I enjoyed the relationship development between all four of them. I'm looking forward to the next book in this shared universe and the next one from Mila Young!
This gripped me from the start. Dawn is very reluctantly getting ready for the village offering as she’s just turned 18, both because she frightened of being chosen, but more because she’s already in love with her friend and protector Kazak. But the villagers are nervous of her and the day of the choosing she is taken and burnt on a pyre, but instead of killing her it releases her inner monster, simultaneously Corvin and Lian monster royal princes arrive to claim her and Kazak real identity is revealed. Accused of breaking rules they are sent before King Slade and the sorry just gets better from there! I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s a great read, complex characters and satisfying story!
Their Fierce Little Monster was so fun to read. I love the world building Mila does when she introduces us to her characters and their world. Dawn definitely lived up to her title. These characters were fun, witty, protective and fiercely loving, what more could a girls ask for. I loved that Dawn fell fast and hard but still tried to keep a level head (not that she was all that successful!) Kazak was my favorite monster in the group. His loyalty to Dawn was everything. Lian’s witty humor had me laughing and his love and protectiveness had me swooning. Then of course there’s Corvin, his immediate loyalty and love towards Dawn was a beautiful he falls first! I’m sad to see another set of Monsters come to an end but loved their story.
Absolutely loved this book. I love Dawn and how strong she is with everything that happens to her and the information being thrown at her. Some might see her as a bit of a damsel in distress but I don't I see her as a survivor. Kavak and Corvin are my favorite of her mates. Lian made me mad at him a few times, I growled (lol). The storyline is nice and different with having the fire awaken something in her instead of just following the same formula as the previous series of book in this universe. The spice was great and interesting IYKYK. Also to be healed Dawn requires stuff only her mates can provide... ;-) If you read this and you don't like that that's fine, before you just read the Monster Night series and just let yourself fall into the world
So this book left me in the middle of liking it or not. I have been a Mila fan for years and have loved her stories HOWEVER this was not her typical work. I enjoyed it as far as the plot, the concept and even the monsters BUT there were a few things I did not like at all. Dawn started out fierce, resourceful, independent and all that you want to see in a good FMC but like flipping a switch she turns into a damsel needs saving mentality. Then there’s the semen thing, while that wasn’t just terrible, I do think it could be portrayed in a better or more interesting way. Overall this wasn’t just a gosh awful read but probably won’t be added to my list of books I reread & if this is your intro into Mila, please pick up one of her other series to try. I promise her other work is chefs kiss.
This is another gripping addition to this multi-author series and I loved seeing the twists unfold for Dawn. She's at the age of being chosen to be a monster's mate, only to find herself branded a heretic and set to be burned at the stake. Ha! The fire awakens something totally unexpected in her and this sets her on a whole new path - aka, not dying. With three hunky men, well, they're actually monsters ;), showing up to help keep her safe, she finds a destiny that is nothing like what she expected.... Expect to get caught up in the drama, twists, danger, possessive monster mates and hot spice as you follow Dawn on her journey to a fab HEA. With fab world building and intriguing characters, the plot took my on a wild reading ride and I loved it. Good fun!
What a fantastic story. We meet Dawn and while she isn’t a warrior type ladyshe is something different. The village people kind of treat differently that is ok she has one protection in the form of Kazak. We quickly meet Corvin and Lain. I absolutely loved Lain and his personality. The story has a ton of drama throughout it that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is a pretty big mystery that drew me into it unable to put it down as I needed to know happens. I absolutely loved it. The story is extremely well written and developed. It one that definitely pulls you in and doesn’t let go.
Loved reading Dawn's story! How one day changes everything for the better! Dawn thinks she is human and is dreading the chosen day ceremony since she has come of age. She didn't think that day, her village leader would try to ☠️ her by fire or that she would meet not one, but three monsters. One being her crush for as long as she remembers, Kazak. Kazak, Lian and Corvin are all royals but also enemies due to post family grudges. Dawn is told to choose between the 3 guys or ☠️☠️. I love that she doesn't choose and becomes a new more confident self! I love that these men will do anything to keep Dawn safe!
Easy reading monster romance! Dawn is of age and ready to be an offering for the monster games but before fate has chance to unravel her life gets tipped upside down and throws her into chaos with lots of hunky monsters, all desperate to learn her secrets while teaching her some things about herself. A really lovely fairly fast paced romance MFMM why choose. Lots of monster activities. Kavak, Lian and Corvin are well rounded characters i cant pick a favourite! The world build is good esepcially if you read any of the other interconnected standalone so you have an understanding of the setting at the start but its not necessary!
Their Fierce Little Monster pulled me into a dark, monster-filled world that kept me curious about what was going to happen next. I loved the darker atmosphere, the tension, and the way the relationships added another layer to the story.
I’m always a sucker for characters who are a little unhinged, possessive, and willing to do whatever it takes for the people they want. I enjoyed the intensity and the mix of danger, chemistry, and complicated dynamics that made this story so addictive.
If you love dark paranormal romance, monster romance, morally gray characters, and relationships that are anything but ordinary, this one is worth adding to your TBR!
