Short but very dramatic and emotional. Nicholas' struggle and the darkness within his soul contrasts with the purity of the feelings he has for Elliot. The physical struggles within the ring illuminate the way Nick wrestles with guilt, shame, and pain. Elliot's suffering is vividly portrayed. I liked that we see slices of the story from each man's point of view, allowing us to get inside their head. The writing is gorgeous, a smooth evocative style. Tiny details are picked out and the focus is tight, swinging like a spotlight from the action to the emotions. A powerful punch in a quick read.
