This is a manifesto for the burnt-out non-profit worker. It provides both a catharsis of being deeply seen, and it presents a clear path forward for better wellbeing and personal growth - even if it means leaving a broken sector. It reminds us that we cannot give the world our best selves in a system built to exploit us. If your a nonprofit worker who feels lost, broken, exhausted, or just plain fed up, this is for you.
This was a very thought provoking read as someone who had worked in the nonprofit sector for 10 years. Seeing the author's perspective on how the nonprofit sector is struggling, as well as connecting to personal feelings of shame, courage, anger, and trauma was really interesting. The author really shared her personal experiences which made some parts reads more as a memoir as well.
