Cain, still reeling from the attack on his girlfriend, gets even more suspicious of Project Specter when they send him to Russia to find Dmitri Kurylenko, a man he has already secretly killed. After another attempt on his life, he soon learns of the agency's involvement in keeping his memory from him and sets to meet with a man who seems to know everything. Unfortunately for Cain, Specter showed up first and framed Cain for murder. Now, on the run, he must protect those close to him, while also trying to prove his innocence. In his quest to take down Project Specter, Cain turns to the only man he can trust for help, Eric Raines, a man Specter wants almost as badly as Cain, and a man as equally bent on taking down Specter as he is.

Of the Cain saga thus far, The Cain Directive is one of my favorite books. The twists and turns and the edge of your seat action and drama made this book an easy and fast read because I could not put it down. The story from beginning to end was not only a home run but a grand slam. The content of this book is what I always look for in spy thrillers-- A compelling storyline, character development, chemistry between characters, a great adversary, action and an effective use of descriptive language that puts the reader at the scene in each part of the story.
Mike Ryan has a handle on how to write a variety of characters and stories and with each book of the Cain saga, he is at his best. I am amazed how he is able to easily bring these stories together and not take short cuts in telling his stories. I immediately went to the next book, but I wanted all of you to know that if you a Mike Ryan fan, you might want to add this Cain saga to your reading list. Do I need to say highly recommended?
Very good plot lots of action a few complications and some heart breaks along the way. Nice to see him getting some information about his life and the Sanders had away his life.
Okay, so now there's a kill on sight order for Matthew Cain. The man is hard to kill. He keeps killing the ones sent after him. Still, good plotting, characters could translate to the screen well enough, writing is adequate. Could still use a good editor.
You start expecting something and then something else happens. Cain has mental problems that appear to be incurable but are being maintained by supposed friends.
