The Cornish Garden Café is the heart of the cosy village of Porthpenny, where friendships blossom, secrets linger and love sometimes finds its way home.
For Edith Whitlock, Porthpenny is her safe place, a quiet life surrounded by friends who have become family. But when Wyatt Simmons unexpectedly returns to the UK, his reappearance shatters the calm she's worked so hard to build. Once, they shared dreams, laughter and a love that ended without explanation when he went back to New York.
Now, thrown together by circumstance, Edith can't ignore the spark that still lingers between them or the unanswered questions that stand in their way. As she begins to see the man behind the silence, old wounds and new hopes intertwine, and Edith must decide if she's ready to open her heart again.
A really lovely, cosy listen. I adored the narrator—they brought so much warmth and charm to Porthpenny and its characters.
The story itself is sweet and comforting, with a gentle second-chance romance that kept me hooked. As someone currently planning a wedding, I especially loved the wedding elements woven into the story—it made it feel extra special.
Perfect for when you want something heartfelt, easy, and uplifting.
I only wish they would’ve TALKED!!!! It could’ve saved so much turmoil and heartbreak!
Edith is a wedding planner. She is preparing for the wedding of Finn and Titus. She is having a wonderful time with this wedding, and is so looking forward to all that is ahead for them.
Until… one day, the love of her life… Wyatt… the one who got (walked) away… shows up at the preparations… and, sparks fly! But, she doesn’t want any part of this. She was hurt once and STILL feels the pain from it. She does not want a re-do.
And then she realizes that he is the Best Man. And she will be seeing a lot of him for this wedding…
As time goes on they kind of reconnect… and try to catch up a bit on each other’s lives… But, he doesn’t want to hurt her… and she doesn’t want to get hurt.
The wedding approaches fast, and things are going well… until they don’t. And now, Wyatt steps in to help Edith with the plans… and once again things are on track.
But then, Wyatt hears from his Mother, and things go downhill once again. Just when they were starting to look up!
A harrowing story of love, love-lost, love found, second chances, friends and community… all wrapped up with a pretty little bow! Somehow….
4 beautiful, sweet, heart-broken, heart-wrenching stars for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#AWeddingAtTheCornishGardenCafe by @RachelGriffiths and narrated nicely by @EmmaPowell.
Of note, this is book #5 in the series… but I have not read the others, and it was fine for me!

Review: This is a cosy, warm story that balances the lighthearted preparation for a wedding with a more serious, mysterious secret that forces Wyatt to deal with loss, grief and lifelong responsibility. This is the fifth book in the Cornish Garden Café series, I have not read the previous books and found that it did not affect my understanding or enjoyment of the plot at all. Though the books are linked by the café setting, this story works well as a standalone.
The narrative offers a sweet second-chance romance with interesting character development. I found it to be a very pleasant audiobook to listen to whilst walking or cooking. However, it did not entirely grip me; I did not develop a strong attachment to the characters, and the plot lacked the element of surprise needed to keep me truly hooked. Overall, it was a nice, sweet and comforting listen, ideal for anyone looking for a gentle escape.
A Wedding at the Cornish Garden Cafe is book 5 in the Cornish Garden Cafe series, I hadn't read any of the previous books but this did not spoil my enjoyment of this book at all.
Edith is happy to organize the wedding of two of her friends but she is caught unawares when the best man turns up and he is the ex that she was in love with but who ghosted her. She makes every effort to be professional but it is hard to do wit so many feelings returning.
Rachel Griffiths naturally weaves in a storyline on grief and trauma into this romance which is not an easy feat. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was really east to listen to. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this series in the future,
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this audiobook.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook. 3.5 stars. This is book 5 in a series – but I haven’t read / listened to any of the others – this worked as a standalone book. Edith is a wedding planner and her latest job is to plan the wedding of friends but on arriving at a hosted lunch her ex-lover Wyatt is there – and surprise – he’s the best man! The pair haven’t seen each other since they split up after university and for Edith painful memories are brought to the surface – why did he end things? Can they talk things through and become friends so as to enjoy their friends’ wedding? A cosy, warm story with a great narrator.
This book was just perfect for me. Lighthearted, warm and funny in parts but also emotional and covered some harder topics. Wyatt’s personal journey was done beautifully and Edith was just a loveable character. I’ll definitely be going back and reading the rest of the series. I did this as an audiobook and really loved the narrator, he voice was so soothing and easy to understand.
Thank you Belinda Audio and NetGalley for my ALC in return for my honest review
This was absolutely adorable. The cozy village vibes were perfection, and I loved Edith and Wyatt’s second-chance romance. Emma Powell’s narration was so good! It really brought everything to life. It was so cute!! 💕
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bolinda Audio for the gifted arc!
