Any worrier who wants to find relief from their worry and anxiety will find Cheri Fuller’s new book, Replacing Wonder for Worry: A Woman’s Secret to Letting Faith Flourish, to be a great encouragement and resource for letting go of worry and clinging to the Truth.
Replacing Wonder for Worry is chock full of biblical truth, practical helps and wisdom from one who has “been there, done that. A seasoned prayer warrior, Fuller guides readers to identify the high cost of worry and then begin to put into place practical principles for overcoming worry.
In order to help her readers get the most out of Replacing Worry for Wonder, Fuller includes some tips in the “Starting Point” that make the book more interactive and practical. She suggests keeping a journal handy to record application points, questions, memories, and insights. She also encourages readers to use colorful 3x5-inch cards to put together a Peace Packet of verses that speak to the situation that causes worry. When worry sneaks up, the reader can take out the Peace Packet and speak God’s promises as prayers and cling to the truths, chasing away worry and replacing it with wonder—the wonder of who God is.
Fuller also includes chapters that help women overcome worries over three specific and common sources of worry: children, finances, and relationships. For those who want to use the book for group or individual study, Fuller gives a link to “Questions for Discussion and Reflection.”
This isn’t just another book to read and stick on the shelf. It’s practical help for those who worry. It’s one readers will pull out again and again as they fight the temptation to worry and, instead, replace it with wonder.
