Jimey the Woodpile Mouse

Rate this book
The late, great Norman Bridwell, creator of "Clifford the Big Red Dog", wrote in a handwritten letter to author Elar Ericsson after reading "Jimey the Woodpile Mouse", "Dear Elar, Thank you for the book. You have a very unique art style. I like it very much. Being a mouse fan myself I appreciate the story." He continued, "I hope your books are successful. There is something special about making a child smile."

Jimey (j EYE-mee) was a woodpile mouse. He lived in the woodpile outside of Farmer Karson’s farmhouse. Jimey loved his woodpile. But there was one big problem. Jimey's woodpile was quickly shrinking! Every day the farmer took logs from the woodpile, and now there were only a few logs left. Jimey worried that his woodpile would soon be gone! Where would he live? How would he stay warm and dry? But one thing worried Jimey most of all—how would he stay safe from the farmer's cat, Kloee? This debut story from author and illustrator Elar Ericsson gently addresses fear and worry with the comfort of being protected, loved, and cared for. The simple message easily translates to children and adults alike. Full color, delightfully detailed illustrations compliment the story and keep young eyes busy with look-and-find activities. Full narration, highlighting text, and sounds in the iPad version bring this book to life and will entertain, help, and encourage young readers. Currently available in hardcover from Amazon and is available for iPad from the Apple iBook store. Visit PineAlleyPress.com for more.

My two and three year old daughters love this book! They especially enjoy the illustrations and like finding things on the colorful pages. The story has a great message and it's a good length for this age. I highly recommend.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads Giveaway but would have purchased this cute book for my son who is five. We read this book several times after receiving it. Definitely will be looking for more stories by Elar Ericsson in the future as the pictures are wonderful.

I won this book through a first reads giveaway and I'm so happy I did! This book was great- it had an actual story with a conflict, rise in emotions and then a resolution. I think this book might help me sons address some of their fears and remind them there is always someone watching out for their well being. At the end of the book there is a little scavenger hunt and some flash card like pictures that me little one will love and will help him with sight words. My oldest (he's 6 but reads at a third grade level) will like this because of the different texts meaning he can use his voice differently while reading out loud. This was a great story I would recommend to anyone with little kids.

My three year old son very much enjoyed this book. The story was cute and he enjoyed the illustrations on each page. His favorite part was finding Jimey and Kloee on the different pages. I really enjoyed how at the end of the story there were pages with different elements of the book that my son could look back at find them in the story. At his age he is really into finding things and so this was spot on for him. Disclosure - I was provided a free copy of this book to review.

Received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads Giveaway.

This was a very cute story. I love it! As an artist, the illustrations were very good: the simplistic images of the characters in the middle of the detailed shadings. Also, the font and color choices are excellent.

(please excuse me for my poor English :c )

This past weekend, I went over to my daughter's house to watch the granddaughters and took this book which I had won on Goodreads. My 8 years old granddaughter read the story and then read it to her 19-month-old baby sister.

It is a cute story with wonderful illustrations and interactive pages.

This is a different children's book. The pictures are very detailed and Jimey, the mouse, is sparingly drawn. This makes for a fun read. I also liked that there were many details in the pictures, as well as some activities that kids would like.

This book has unique illustrations and a good plot. I especially liked the flashcards in the back and the fact that it was interactive with the seek n find (similiar to the Where's Waldo books from my childhood). Overall, an excellent book for children.

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway but that has not impacted my review.

The story has a great message and great illustrations.
It makes the children think what you are supposed to do when your habitat is shrinking and the predators are out there waiting for you.
It made my kids wonder....
