She loved him through everything, that was her first mistake. Journi never thought she'd ever be in a position where she would have to uproot her life in the middle of the night and abruptly start over in a new city. But, after suffering years of abuse from a man she gave her all to, running was her only option if she wanted to survive. The last thing she expects to do is collide with the most dangerous man in the city.
Known to the streets as Reaper, Khaizon is power, pressure, and danger all wrapped in one. Focused on building an empire and securing his legacy, love was never part of the plan, and a relationship was a liability he couldn't afford.
But something about Journi gets under his skin in a way he can't shake and won't ignore.
What starts as curiosity quickly becomes something consuming, dangerous, and deeper than either of them planned.
But, everything Journi tried to escape starts closing in around her, and the life she's stepping into might cost her just as much as the one she left behind.
There’s no way you left the cliffhanger like that. Girlll I usually don’t leave reviews unless they are good and juicy and baybee this one was. It felt like it wasnt going anywhere at first then I was okay let me keep reading and see. I am not disappointed but please don’t make us wait long for part 2. Also I hope it ends at part 2 bc I don’t like series and this is too good to let go!!
This book is super good but Carmen the cliffhanger….really? 😭 I hope for everyone that ending was just mere coincidence or something cause ain’t no waaaaaay just can’t be what I’m thinking!!!
Besides that I looooove Journi, Khi, & Lyric. I love how Lyric showed up for her sister no matter what and Khi is definitely book bae…i just hope it stay that way after that ending lol. Nooooow Denim i really still got a little hope that she not sneaky but something telling me I might as well give that up smh.
First book by this author, I wish it was CLEARLY stated that this wasn’t a standalone, but rather one of several books. I absolutely hate this habit that authors have of splitting up a story into several parts, when one long standalone would suffice….
This book is messy and full of drama from the very beginning. I am not one that needs trigger warnings, but a lot of my fellow readers do. I have to say that this book should have a trigger warning for DV.
That being said, I enjoyed the story. I’m anxious for part 2. Poor Journi can’t seem to catch a break! I hope I’m wrong about the outcome(s) of the cliffhanger! 😩
Sis when I tell you I’m on my way to the ER cause my pressure on 10,000 reading across my forehead if you never write another word baby you did your BIG 1 with this I’m so ready for part 2 cause I wanna know who Ashton daddy is so bad at this point if it’s Cam just gonna call a code blue for sis cause I’m definitely gonna flatline
This weeks such a well crafted storyline and I love every twist, turn, and bomb drop. Carmen Lashay, you did that! 💥How do you write such an amazing storyline and leave with a cliffhanger like this? Reaper is the man! I wonder how CamRon is going to react to the plug and his baby mama? 😝😜😛
This book was too good. I kind of felt like the friend was sneaky. Why am I your bestfriend but I don’t know who your baby daddy is. I hope it ain’t Khi. I really felt like it could be Cam. I guess we gone see in this next book. I hope Carmen don’t keep us waiting too long.
I’m sorry ms. Lashay your book read just like any other urban street dope boy and weak female. Women get treated like sex slaves and the men get treated like gods. It’s sells but what is it saying to our young black women? I gave it three stars because it was coherent.
I couldn’t put this book down!!!!! Carmen!!!! This is a great book. They met unconventionally and this cliffhanger has me on edge. I wanted to smack Lyric momma!! She was doing and saying way too much for me. I hope Kilo and Lyric get together but I also hope Khi and Cam isn’t Ashton daddy🫣🫣
Carmennnnnnn, why u do us like that. The book had me playing the guessing game the entire time I was reading it. I know good and hell well her best friend didn’t go call the dude on her
Carmen you did the darn thing with this book as usual. I absolutely loved this book from the very beginning. I knew it, Cam is the daddy. I can’t wait to read part 2. This is most definitely a must read.
I need that next book NEOWWW. Ain’t no way you leave us like that. All her friends trash, but atleast she has Lyric. I’m waiting to see more about Lyric and Kilo. And ughhh, I need me a n like Khi, whew. Please I need that next book as in yesterday.
I do believe its been the friend the entire time... And the other ones knew... I hope she (J) truly finds herself and worth...I so excited about her relationship with her sister and dad. Khi im not to sure about but im looking forward to book2
Need the next part ASAP WHOS that baby’s daddy!!? I thought I knew who the grimy one was at first but now IM CONFLICTED. Great plot twist but the book itself is a 3/5 for me.
I’m pissed cause why would Khi and Cam be pulling ip in the same car? Makes no sense. But Nia being the snake friend would be too obvious. Maybe it is Denim. She never disclosed her baby daddy. Khi seems like the type to not play about his kid.
Cam is the worst…I. Mean theeeee worst kinda MAN…he made my blood boil this whole entire book….but Khi…yeah he that dude…but that ending??? You really left me on a cliffhanger…
Excuse me ? His daddy is who ??? This was not the cliffhanger I was expecting. If you thinking about reading it, just gon do it. This is a new to me author and I’m impressed with this turn of events and character building.
