Grave Errors

Rate this book
She stole from the wrong people.

At least, that's what Willow assumes when two masked men snatch her off the street and drive her into the wilderness to die.

Her life was quiet working at the IT help desk. Well, except the whole ripping off insurance companies in her spare time thing. After a car wreck nearly bankrupted her, she made it her mission to help others in medical debt.

But it turns out her masked captors were looking for someone else. So they make a deal to take her home as long as she never sees their faces.

However, a storm traps them together, and she isn't sure they'll keep their word. She must decide how far she's willing to go, because this plan to lower their guard might get her killed or it might make her theirs.

Grave Errors is a spicy standalone MFM why choose dark romance featuring masked men, forced proximity, morally gray MMCs, and a heroine who uses seduction as her sharpest weapon.

I was so excited to get an early read on this new title by C.J. North after submitting to join the ARC team.
I had fallen in love with her writing style after reading Beast of The Bayou and Jump or Fall and didn't hesitate to apply for an opportunity to get in early on her newest read! I had been keeping up with the snipits she had been sharing of this new piece across her social pages, and the small doses had my mouth watering. I knew I had to get my hands in it. Seeing the tropes this new book fell into, I was so excited to see how she wrote them in her style of storytelling, and I have to say I was not disappointed! This book ticked all of my boxes when it comes to the type of plotline and genre this particular book falls into. I was so heavily pleased and thoroughly entertained from start to finish.

This book is such a great representation of its tropes. This is a masked men capture style romance with a heavy dose of close proximity and topped off with a one bed set up in a small cabin after our beautiful FMC is taken by force by two men who intend on leaving her six feet deep out in the woods. But things quickly take a turn when they realize they have grabbed the wrong girl!! Although these two brutes work as debt collectors for one of the most evil men in their city, taking the fingers of those who fall behind on their word, they really are just two friends doing their best to navigate out of their own misfortunes and move on to better things. So killing an innocent woman isn't an add they want to be able to put on their resumes.

Willow is a modern-day Robin Hood type baddie who uses the pains of her own past to fuel her hacking abilities to steal from big Healthcare companies and give back to those who can't afford to pay for the care they need due to the mega scam that these big corporations function under. She's doing her best to navigate through her own traumas of physical and mental scars that she carries and do her part to help others with the help of her one online friend and companion that although has supported her for many years, she has yet to meet in person. Alongside her attention whore of a cat she is mostly minding her own business healing in her own ways best she can, when a mistake of identity lands her in a world of trouble. Thinking she finally stole from the wrong people, Willow assumes her hacking escapades have landed her in hot water, when really she's been thrown into a much worse situation.

Ryker and Ezra, at first glance, would seem like two giant monsters dishing out pain to the less than lucky members of their community per instruction of their super villain of a boss. Acting as debt collectors for one of the top gang leaders in their city, they are both working hard to pay off their own debts to get out from under serious contracts tying them to a life they truly hate. Causing harm and taking fingers for a man that could turn on them at any moment. They want to serve their time and move on but unfortunately while doing so they end up with a loose end in the form of a young woman they have to dispose of which leads them to accidentally taking our girl Willow by mistake. This sets up a situation none of them were prepared for and takes us all on a spicey journey that ticked all of my dark romance boxes!

Our perfect environment is laid out for us when all three of our MCs are forced to shack up in the small family cabin of Ezras that sits on the property they planned to bury our beauty at when a storm cages them in. With one bed and no choices, they quickly realize they have to make the most of this situation until they can make it back to the city all while hoping their boss doesn't catch wind of their epic mistake and force their hand down on our girl. Willow quickly realizes she is locked up with less than full strangers after a slip of the tongue tips her off, and little do her captors know that she just might know the identies laying under their masks already. Keeping her little bite of knowledge a secret, She begins to play both of her captors in hopes of maintaining her freedom through means of seduction. Which isn't too hard considering our girl is starved for true human contact, and these two lugs are far deeper than a couple of routine mob men. She begins to bounce between our MCs, forming personal and physical connections as she figures out her next move, causing these two finger breaking bros to fall into the gravitational pull of our hardly deniable one of a kind bold FMC.

As Willow navigates their personalities, she starts connecting to them as individuals and plays off the chemistry that starts collecting within the tiny cabin they share. The more our MCs get to know Willow and boundaries start being crossed, the more they all start realizing they have much more in common than this unlikely situation. Shared beds. Roaming hands. Sneaking around between friends. Shoulder rubs. Drinking games. Shared secrets and broke down walls. These three start falling hard into each other, and new gauntlets are thrown.

With Willow falling hard and the two friends falling right behind her, new fears are unlocked and not in the matters of just life and death. With masked chase scenes. Close proximity spice. And a wild out doors session, this storyline goes from kidnapping to an Eiffel tower of drool worthy, tow curling proportions, before hitting its final high anxiety climax that grabs you by the throat in an ending that had me terrified for everyone involved.

This book is heavily entertaining in all its elements. The plot is fast-paced and nonstop as it bounces between the dynamics of all our characters while mingling in spice that had me heated! These scenes are so well done and really add to the depth of connection and intimacy of our characters while keeping it hot at all the right times. Our FMC is bold and brave and sassy. Our MMCs are the perfect due of male friends who take control of our girl while also elevating her healing journey. And in the end, we get the scene we all are waiting for! The way these men individually talk to her, and how they come together in the hottest moments is not something you want to miss! I promise you!

I am so addicted to C.J. North's writing and her character portrayals alongside her balanced spice and entertaining storylines. This book is a 10/10 for the tropes it caters to and will not leave you disappointed.

This was not exactly what I was expecting. Yes - the blurb does accurately describe the book plot, but I didn't realize it was such a short story. I was expecting to see more of the hacking skills, some kind of danger from our fmc's gig, but other than the general risk of hacking there was really no sense of danger to make me feel that her thought that she hacked the wrong person was justified. I also didn't feel that there was enough tension and buildup for the situation with our fmc and her kidnappers. She's shockingly unconcerned with her situation, almost indifferent at the idea that she might be killed, and then she just immediately falls into curiosity and lust once she decides she's safe. I almost DNF at 30% in because it almost felt like a poorly written erotica wet dream. I did like seeing the mmcs' POV and their internal struggle about being together in their relationship, and overall the mmc's were fairly sweet compared to what you would expect from their jobs, which I found to be a refreshing dynamic. Overall, entertaining to read once but would not come back to it.

The moral of the story is this: it's all the healthcare system's fault.
Willow is my hero. She's so tough, because she's had to be, but there's so much more to her than just what she's been through. She cares, and that makes her great. I love that she's an ethical hacker, like, yes girl, make the world a better place one insurance company at a time.
Ezra and Ryker just about broke my heart with their backstories. I was already invested in them, and then they tell Willow why they're involved in the stuff they are, and it's just unfortunate.
I felt like the internal struggle the three of them were having about a relationship and the potential struggles with it were so interesting. It felt realistic, like, sure, they're kind of rushing into relationship territory and whatnot, but let that go and you're left with three vulnerable people just wanting to be loved, who are scared they're going to mess something up.
The different kinds of bonding both guys did with Willow just warmed my heart; it was so sweet. Even when they're trying to not fall for her, how can they help it?

I might have gotten a little to deep with this one, but I have a lot of feelings about it, okay?

North knocks it out of the park with this one!

I absolutely adored Willow, Ryker, and Ezra’s story. I will say I would have loved to see more of Ryker and Ezra’s connection and friendship explored but what we get of them and Willow are wonderful. Though their story takes place over a few days due to a storm, I loved still being able to feel their chemistry and their feelings for each other start to develop over that short period of time. I do wish we got to further explore their dynamic once they are all able to get out of their work situations. I’m just personally a sucker for domesticity once the characters get together.

Over all I loved every second of this story and can’t wait to see and read more of North’s projects!

Is your favorite trope IICYIFY? This story is for those who want their TW list to be multiple pages. Those who want it depraved and unapologetic. Those who love a masked man (or two) and an alt-girl wet dream FMC with piercings and tats who knows what she likes. Everyone is morally grey or possibly morally black. It’s MFM. It’s short and fast paced. There is a fun plot and commentary about expensive healthcare, but come on, you’re mainly here for the smut. (No judgement!)

When taking the wrong girl ends up working out for everyone.

This was so much fun to read. Lots of spice. Ezra and Ryker make a great team, and I loved how they discovered a new depth to their friendship through Willow. She's awesome. Headstrong, not easily intimidated, and not afraid to stand up for others, even if it means putting herself in danger.

They all come through for each other. Great 'Why Choose'.

Fast-Paced Dark Romance Why Choose

I loved this book! CJ North has quickly become an auto-buy author for me.

If you are looking for a fast-paced, dark romance, why choose, then Grave Errors is the book for you. Expect masked men, hacking, ptsd, sweet, spicy, primal play, and sharing. You root for these characters from start to finish. Willow is an elite FMC.

What's better than a masked man? Two masked men!! This book was addicting! It had some humor, and a LOT of spice!
I really liked how we saw/felt the different emotions that the guys had trying to figure out if they were okay with sharing her.
10/10 recommend!
