Sanctuary of Night: A Sapphic Vampire Romance

A Dark Sapphic Vampire Romance

Zoe Riley was never supposed to see the truth.
As a legal researcher, she uncovers a buried framework that protects powerful people before crimes are committed. When she copies the file, men come for her, and she must run for her life.

She collapses at the gates of Nightfall.

Nightfall is not a refuge. It's a containment zone ruled by vampires who police a fragile, hidden war. They do not offer mercy. They offer survival at a cost.

Isabela Cruz is assigned to keep Zoe alive.

She is cold, disciplined, and terrifyingly controlled. Isabela is sworn to enforce Nightfall’s laws without exception. Mortals are liabilities. Desire is weakness. And Zoe is both.

As the human cabal hunting Zoe closes in, attraction becomes a dangerous breach of protocol. Every choice tightens the cage. Every touch carries a consequence. Staying means surrendering freedom. Leaving could condemn everyone Zoe has ever known.

Watching from the shadows is La Oscura, the ancient ruler of Nightfall, for whom love has always been the most dangerous thing of all.

Sanctuary of Night is a dark, slow-burn sapphic vampire romance about protection that turns into possession, love that becomes liability, and the terrible safety of choosing to stay.

If you love powerful protectors, dangerous devotion, and paranormal romance where desire has teeth, welcome to Nightfall.

I’d give this a 2.5 if I could just because I actually finished it although I did skim read towards the end. It was entertaining but that’s about it. There’s no real world building to be had. You have a super secret ambiguous “evil” empire trying to kill our human FMC, and a super secret society of vampires who rescue her. Impassioned feelings and battle ensue to keep the human safe. And of course she is the only one who can bring down the evil empire with her special analytical skills…never mind that the vampires have been battling this empire for years and can’t crack the code..no no, she’s the key. Sorry this all sounds very harsh when I typed it out. Basically it’s an entertaining read if you’re looking for something easy with little to no depth to it. Jeez that didn’t sound much better did it?

It's alright, entertaining enough, but it doesn't feel like a flesh-outed book as much as a one-shot that went on for too long. The world building felt empty, and the characters lacked the passion I wished they had. In some scenes it felt Zoe's actions or words were too repetitive or even too strong for the situation in an attempt to emphasize her character traits. In the end I didn't feel myself rooting for Zoe and Isabela to get together, I was just waiting to be done with the book.

Great story

One of the better books I have read in the last few weeks, hands down beating some bigger authors and defeating my book slump.

The story was well paced and the characters were great for each other. Looking forward to the others.

The writing wasn’t necessarily the problem though it did get a little repetitive.

This felt more like a fleshed out one shot. I needed to suspend my disbelief with the “world building” and certain character traits.
