In DECISION MAKERS, the second book in the Miss Independent series, Vanessa begins to wonder if a real life with Maurice will be better or worse than the fantasy she always dreamed of having with Nathan. Meanwhile, Nathan and Sheila come to some big decisions regarding their upcoming wedding, as Nikki finally decides what to do about her relationship with Oscar.
Decision Makers picks up immediately where Miss Independent left off. If you haven't read the first book yet, I strongly suggest doing so before starting this book.
*Due to language and situations, this novel is strongly recommended for those 18+*
Frustrated with this series. i think this second book was a little bit too long for what information it provided or not. I didn't get the background of V's high school romance with Nathan nor her college romance with Adrian. Maybe book three will provide those details and hopefully with giving V and Mo the HEA they deserve. As for Sheila and Nathan the need to move the heck back on to Cali in all there misery. Sheila choosing to keep her head buried in the sand as far as acknowledging that Nathan will never lover her with his whole heart or as much as he thinks he loves V is ridiculous.
This is the problem with serials or series. The plot is pretty much stagnant. I hate to be harsh but when the plot doesn't move and the reader has gone over 200+ pages read and the main characters are still in the same place they were in the first book, it makes it seem like the book was made to fill more pages and complete a book. I know writing is a business and I can't hate on the writer for trying to get their money any way possible.
I know the first paragraph is super harsh. But I wanted to give the unvarnished truth as I saw it. Will I read the next book? No. This once again reinforces that series (which should be classified as a serial instead) is not for me.
So why the 3 stars? One star should be given because writing is a craft. It takes a lot of work to publish your ideas and make it an occupation. There were very little typos and the characters were great and multifaceted. They just should have done things and been used more to further the plot, especially the main characters like Vanessa and Maurice.
And the drama continues. Making me still want to b****slap Vanessa (the heroine) from time to time. And Nikki, Nathan and Sheila too, while I'm at it. I'm obviously team Mo. But will have to wait for book 3 to know if Vanessa will get it right...
Consider this a plea to Kiki, urging her to write faster...
Compared to book 1 was DM well paced. Still could have done without some of the over detailed narrative...
