“His soul is mine to reclaim, and mine is his. There is no thought, no doubt, only the overwhelming truth that he has always been here, waiting, and I have finally found him.

This was the perfect conclusion to their love story.

The emotional intimacy between them was so emotionally charged, so sweet and healed so much the first book broke in me.

I loved all the callbacks. They hurt my heart so bad. The bunny named Felix 😭

While this book wasn't as angsty as the first, it was exactly what these two characters needed. They needed break from the universe crushing them, even if they still had setbacks, but their setbacks felt more manageable. These two needed room to breathe after that first book. I wouldn’t have survived another like the first immediately after. A beautiful ending.

I feel conflicted. My Darling God left a mark on me, and I still find myself thinking about the characters and the story of Benjamin and Aaron from time to time. Maybe that’s why I expected perhaps too much from this book?

Despite everything I'm personally feeling towards the book, I ended up giving this 4 stars (at least for now) because I refuse to give it any less💁🏼‍♀️

As usual, I want to write down my thoughts and feelings in this review. Here we go:

The prologue immediately took me back to the feelings I had when MDG ended (still not over it😭) and ’My Sweet Angel’ started promisingly, but then, I was a little disappointed with how it unfolded.

I don’t know if you can directly compare the characters, but in a way, we're kinda supposed to, given the premise of this story. But yeah, I was disappointed in the character of Elijah -there, I said it. And overall, this just didn’t feel the same—not that it’s supposed to be exactly the same, but still.

I just didn’t feel the same strong, deep emotions as I did with Aaron and Benjamin’s story -not even close. And the book didn’t hook me in the same way.

⚠️ Spoiler alert going forward⚠️ but also not really?, since we already know this is a reincarnation story.

Rowan lives an isolated life -he has always felt a certain emptiness and knew that something was missing. He has also been having dreams about Benjamin and at first he doesn’t know why.

Then Elijah and Rowan meet, and they immediately feel an instant connection with each other. Like I said, this started off well.

But then, really quickly—way too quickly—their relationship and interactions escalated. Considering that, apart from their unusual connection, they’re complete strangers to each other, but suddenly they go all in, have all these nicknames, feel all the possible emotions, even cry together (all of that was too much, too fast) and then Rowan immediately realizes that they’ve been reincarnated and were in love in a different life... 😩😶

I just didn't really like this—I wanted build-up, longing, them getting to know each other, slowly realizing how much they're actually connected, and then starting to understand more.

And I didn't like that it was _so very apparent_ that they were the same people and that they even knew their names from before. I wanted it to be more of an.. underlying feeling, and perhaps something that’s only that clear to the reader. I don't know how to explain it better.

I did enjoy more how the book went on after my initial disappointment, but I just didn't get what I wanted out of it. And what’s most disappointing is that I didn't really feel much towards this book or the characters, except whenever I thought about or read about Benjamin and Aaron. Maybe I just got too attached to them and nothing could compare🥲

And, I mean... this is random, but they go on two (official) dates, and they're to a karaoke bar and a bingo? Come on, seriously😆

So yeah, I'm not saying this is a bad book, but for me _personally_, it was a bit of a letdown after My Darling God.

I might sit with these thoughts for a while and edit this review later or maybe change it to 3 stars who knows, but these are my immediate thoughts after finishing the book. Maybe do re-read later and see if my feelings change.

My Sweet Angel, the second book in the Red Thread of Fate duology, follows Rowan and Elijah, the reincarnations of Aaron and Benjamin, the MCs from My Darling God. This is a significantly shorter and thankfully much lighter read than its predecessor, and tonally the two books feel very different. While the writing quality remains consistently strong, the stakes and overall scope are much smaller here.

While technically readable as a standalone, I think much of this book’s emotional impact relies heavily on having read My Darling God first. Without that context, I don’t think I would have connected nearly as strongly to Rowan and Elijah or fully appreciated what Hunter Bailey was trying to do with the evolution of these characters across two lives.

I found the dynamic between these MCs far less toxic than Aaron and Benjamin’s relationship in the first book, which feels entirely intentional. There’s something quite satisfying about seeing these souls reconnect in a healthier, more emotionally functional way after the devastation of the previous novel. The romance itself is softer, sweeter and significantly less psychologically confronting, while still retaining some of the intense attachment that defined the first book.

Most importantly, after how emotionally brutal the ending of My Darling God was, it was genuinely nice to end the duology on a HEA, something the first book very definitely does not provide.

This is an absolutely beautiful conclusion to MDG! This book healed something in me! Aaron and Benjamin and Eli and Rowan are amazing characters with beautifully messy stories that I know I’ll love forever!
Them finally getting the happy ending they deserve was just absolutely beautiful!

3.5⭐️

I sobbed reading that prologue, all I could think about is how Felix must’ve felt to lose both his brothers😭 knowing that his family is in another universe/dimension mourning them breaks my heart. Aaron tried so hard man, it hurts 😭

This book was good but I don’t think it healed me completely from the first book. Maybe the reincarnation trope isn’t for me? But I just couldn’t really connect with the characters in MSA the way I connected with them in MDG.

In my review of MDG, I did state that I feel like this book was around 300 pages too long. I feel like this is the book that should’ve been longer. I would’ve loved more longing and them to equally feel drawn to eachother for years and years then they finally get to eachother. I think things progressed quite quickly.

Obviously I am not the author and I can’t be annoyed that this book didn’t go the way I wanted it to, it’s impossible for every reader to be happy. I just wish I connected with it more with how much I enjoyed MDG.

I think Hunter is extremely talented and I am excited to read more books by this author in the future because they have mastered keeping me hooked until I finished the book.

Ughh I did not feel this one.

I did not feel the chemistry between these two and I think it has to do with the way the story was told. The writing and the big conflict in the storyline did not really make sense.

What a beautiful continuation of My Darling God. It was so healing but also still laced with so much sadness. Absolutely one of the best series I have ever read.

The continuation of themes from the first book made my heart so happy, but there were also little details that reminded me that Elijah and Rowan have a different relationship from Benjamin and Aaron.

As painful as it is, I think I will be rereading these books for years to come.

My poor heart

This was a fascinating book about souls and soulmates. The first book in this duet absolutely broke my heart but this one did its best to put my heart back together again. The nods to the first book were really enjoyable and I love the idea of soulmates in every life

While this book can probably be read as a standalone, I would read My Darling God first.

I was really happy our boys got their HEA becasue they deserved it after everything they went through in My Darling God. I think that piece is driving my love for this story. This is why I would recommend reading this book.

After My Darling God was over 700 pages of slow, meticulous character and plot development, I was hoping we would have the same development with our two MCs in this book. I get that they had a connection because of their past lives and I think this caused for insta-lust and even insta-love...but I do think they could have slowly gotten to know each other. I don't think the tension was justifiable in this story. I think Bennett felt like a throwaway character. Bennett's obsession with Elijah did not make sense to me. They did not have much of a relationship for him to be so obsessed.

I also love the reincarnation trope for this! It was PERFECT. I loved how the prologue set us up for this to happen, so the trope is not a secret. I also LOVED that there were parts from My Darling God that was copied and pasted word for word in this book. I loved reliving some of Button and Aaron's relationship through Elijah and Rowan. I loved watching Elijah try to navigate their past relationship with their present one.

While I am fine that Rowan had most of the memories and so it was love at first sight, I still think his character wasn't developed enough. I think his story was rushed. I don't understand why he and Roman did not have a good relationship only for their first meeting to prove that their relationship was fine. He was a recluse, but other than not having any friends it did not feel like that trope was fully developed. His relationship with others felt forced a little and I did not feel is depression.

I think their relationship was rushed for the most part. I guess the thing that I loved the most is that they got their HEA so 4 stars for that.

I was terrified to read this book.

I put it off for quite a while. I didn’t think anything could follow up My Darling God and make it make sense and give me all the tingles of that book.

I was wrong. So fricken wrong.

This book brought everything together, wrapped it in pretty paper and tied it in a giant bow. It was sooo well done. There was yearning. There was spice. There was chemistry. There was challenge.

You need to read it. Hunter Bailey, I apologize for calling you bad words and leaving me hanging. You told me it would come together and I shouldn’t doubt you, and I did.

You blew me away. I think I was literally standing up at the end of the book, crying as it all wrapped up.

Eli and Row are so real to me as were Benjamin and Aaron. Beautiful boys with endless, loving souls.

Somebody needs to read this book so I can talk to you about it! I feel faint. In a good way.

Write more, Hunter. Please.

i can’t even put into words how this was a healing journey for me as well. finding your person is so important and sometimes it takes being around the people that hurt you to realize your self-worth. aaron and benjamin made me own up to my trauma. rowan and elijah rejuvenated me. made me feel validated. gave me so much hope.

this is the type of love and adoration every single person deserves and honestly this book helped me move on a couple more steps away from the past. thank you for this. it means everything, the world, my future, my lifetimes, and everything in between. and i will never forget these characters. in times of loneliness, emptiness, fear, i will hold them close.

not only is life worth living, but you are worthy too. 6 bajillion stars.

As much as My Darling God broke my heart, My sweet Angel put it back together, I didn't like the end of the first book. Both Aaron and Benjamin didn't deserve the end they got but Elijah and Rowan they both found each other and make me happy. I'm glad the autor took the time and give me the ending they all deserve and now I can be happy for them.

Book one is devastating, book two is healing

I have been enraptured by the boys stories. Book one was a hard read, full of heartache and turmoil and of course death. Book two was soothing, healing and wonderful. Beautifully written and captivating. Thank you for a wonderful duet.
