Nymphs and Newsreels. Ravens Hollow Investigations by Ella Stone.
This series is just so much fun. Action packed, emotional, mental junk-food for the soul. I love it.
Elodie is going back home for the first time since moving to the island. What a crazy homecoming.
Somehow she's upsetting people without even trying. Making what could be dangerous enemies and she already has trouble in her life!
Most exciting thing for me personally..... Pongo!!! My nerves were on edge waiting for his secret to be revealed. It's so absolutely perfect for you Pongo fans out there!
This installment is so exciting, the love triangle, the family drama, the friendships and it all leaves you on the edge of your seat wanting more. More of everything because for every answer there's now two more questions.....
This is one of the best Urban Fantasy series out right now.
I received this from the author for my honest opinion.

Another captivating addition I had the privilege to read early. Elodie needs to know more about her dad's family and Whip wants to find Katie. A trip on Whip's private jet to the UK, yes no one knew he had one which plays even more one Elodie's mind about all he things didn't share with her. The trust had been broken. Arabella and Pongo are going with, but upon arrival, Bessie, her sentinent house boat and Colin, her otter is gone. What another surprise when she met Alex's brother and learned about 1/4, lol what a surprise. If you thought that's a surprise, just wait until you find out more about Pongo which the spitting hinted at!! Raptor is another interesting character. Then there's the threats to Elodie which ended up with a twist I never imagined possible. It was devastating. Donna did not approve of Whip, but agreed to help which leads to more bomb shell revelations of note when Katie is finally found. More I'm not telling, though the rude Pauletta, nymph, had me shrieking with anger and Pongo's heritage had my eyes popping. I was totally engrossed with the turn of events and crying my eyes out for Elodie.
I received an advanced review copy from the author and leave this review voluntary Thank you ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Ooo do I love this world! I love everything about it, the plot, the immersive world building and especially the characters. But, good golly, Alex wins the prize for supportive, intuitive, caring, non pressurising coolness and he's hot... and he's sweet...ok, ok, yes I adore him... Plus, there's the cutest, cleverest canine on the planet, Pongo, oh my heck, he filled me with warmth, he's adorable, he's smart and this 'new' development made me leap from my chair with a WHOOP and made my jaw hit the ground! No one could have predicted THAT, nor the way the author duped us. If a piano had fallen on me, I would have been less surprised...

But...to start at the beginning, Elodie and Whip arrive in England, to try find Whip's missing sister. All sounds good and relatively easy, right? Well... what actually occurred was similar to a grenade exploding. Firstly, finding out about Alex's siblings was a mind bend, then an encounter with a strange buddy, then a threat against her, and the reunion with her bff and previous boss, Donna and her wife Julie, wasn't quite as she expected. A load to deal with, right? Especially with her very strained relationship with Whip. Hell, I loved him as much as Elodie in the first few books but he went down a few notches for me in the previous book and now, well, now I don't know what to think, except that he's tumbling down the rungs faster than ever. His entire demeanour changed, no longer the attentive suitor, he's coming across as indifferent to anything other than finding his sister, by whatever means, and then he says something like this, and I'm thrown off course, 'Elodie’s the first person I’ve dated in a long time.' and this....'If I hadn’t loved you so much, maybe I wouldn’t have had a problem hiding things from you.’ If Elodie is conflicted, I'm doubly so. But, not Alex, it's 💯 confirmed that Alex is the superstar of my affections. He just melts my heart when he tosses everything out the window for Elodie, time and time again! And you know what Ms Stone does???? Yes.... she twists me round in knots again, because Whip....Whip... was so UNselfish I wanted to cry! Leaving me in an even bigger conundrum than I was.

While I did find the first half of the book a bit slow paced, by golly, the second half, and especially the last few chapters were a whirlwind of activity, action and excitement. My jaw kept dropping, comically, even prompting my husband to ask if I was ok... Like no, I wasn't ok! First I find out who'd been threatening Elodie, then I find out Pongo... OMG I'm stunned! The shocking events escalated rapidly, one shrapnel hit after another, I was totally unprepared! Ms Stone upped the stakes so high, I was reeling. And I liked Whip all over again and heaven help me, my very soul hurt for him. As it did for Donna. As it did for Alex.

I know I've mentioned it in a previous review, I never know where this author will take a story, she lulls me into thinking this read was a lighter version of the previous books and then she wacks me in the face, one revelation after another, that I couldn't see coming, erupted from the pages. And gripped me hard. And I can't do anything but pray that these characters, all of them, even Whip, get their happy ever after. I want them to... I need them to...

**ARC Reader/Listener, all opinions are my own!**

Elodie is a kick-butt journalist with a knack for getting to the bottom of a story. For years, she worked shoulder-to-shoulder with her best friend and editor, Donna, who’s always supported her and encouraged her to follow her leads. Or she did before she arranged for Elodie to ship off to the US, to the small island town of Raven’s Hollow, after a midnight stakeout went terribly wrong and left Elodie without a pulse.

Journalism is Elodie’s lifeblood; it’s where she gets her kicks. No need for Route 66! And with her ex-fiancé left back on the British Isles, it’s a whole new world for this fledgling vamp, and she’s going to be getting her kicks all over the island.

It’s time to find out why the sunlight wards don’t seem to work right for Elodie and to find Whip’s long-lost sister. Two mysteries for the price of one… all it’s going to cost is a trip back to England. No pressure, right? Alongside her bestest boi, Pongo the wonder-pup, who keeps… on… growing… as well as a cast of new and old friends (including Donna! Woo!)… Elodie’s on the case and ready to find out what’s been going on! I won’t even spoil the mega-twist!

“Nymphs and Newsreels” is the fifth novel of the “Raven’s Hollow Investigation” series by author Ella Stone. It’s the first solo series of hers that I’ve been a part of since the beginning, and I can’t WAIT for the next book! Having enjoyed her work in partnership with Heather G. Harris on the “Witchlight Magical Mysteries” series (still going strong!), I was confident it was going to be good, but man-oh-man did my expectations undersell the reality. I give this a very confident 10/10 and highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a strong female lead over the age of 20 with a career, a solid head on her shoulders, and a curiosity that just won’t stop. This has the makings of a Dresden-esque series, if I do say so myself.

This latest book in this series was the best one so far! I just loved it and could hardly put it down! Elodie and Whip are heading back to England to find answers to several questions. Elodie needs to know more about her heritage and why the sunlight wards are fading quicker and quicker each time, while Whip needs to find his sister. Joining them are Pongo (of course) and Arabella.

While settling in to Mystic Moorings, where we also meet one of Alex's brothers, Elodie come under a nasty threat, which continues wherever she seems to go. Someone knows her whereabouts and is determined to get rid of her, but why? There's so many surprises in this one that I have no idea how Elodie managed to keep it all together! What with the threats, Pongo, her dad, her mum turning up, Whip's sister and another surprise there for Whip, it was constant, but great reading! There was never a dull moment in this book and you just couldn't guess what was going to happen next, who was involved and how it would all turn out!

But now Elodie and Whip both have some answers, I can't wait to see what they both do next. If you like fantastic urban fantasy stories, with great characters, fast-paced plots with lots of twists and turns, then this series is definitely one you should start from the beginning!

I received an ARC copy of this book through BookSprout, but this review is my own, honest one! Thank you Ella for another fantastic read!

Wow, this book has SO much going on for Elodie, that’s it’s a wonder she can figure out which way is up!

The decision had been made that Elodie was headed back to England. Whip needs to search for his sister Kate and Elodie needs to find out if anyone can help her figure out why her sunlight wards don’t last. It’s been suggested it must be something in her ancestry, so she needs to investigate. Well she never could have guessed just what she might find!

We follow the search for answers for Elodie at the same time as the search continues for Kate, Whip’s sister, with the help from Arabella, and Elodie’s friend and ex-boss, Donna. It’s clear from early in the book that someone doesn’t like Elodie and wants her gone, but figuring out who and why, proves to be difficult - not to mention dangerous! Tracing Kate is also far from straight forward.

Elodie is taking a good hard look at her relationship with Whip, as well as trying to get help from family and work out who is out to get her. It’s not exactly a relaxing visit home, with danger seemingly around every corner.

This book is action packed, with twists, turns and surprises that will keep you guessing. Once you start reading you will not want to put it down, so clear the decks and settle down for a real page turner.

Elodie Evergreen’s latest adventure is a whirlwind of danger, discovery, and heart, and I loved every chaotic second of it. Returning to England was supposed to give her and Whip answers, but instead it throws her into a maze of secrets, family revelations, and threats that seem to lurk behind every door. Elodie’s stubborn bravery shines as she tries to untangle the truth about her ancestry, her magic, and the people who suddenly want her gone.

What truly elevates this story is the emotional core—her complicated, tender, sometimes exasperating bond with Whip, and the unwavering warmth of her connection with Pongo. Pongo steals scenes with ease, grounding the story with loyalty and heart just when things get darkest. Their partnership adds a softness to the sharp edges of the mystery, reminding you why Elodie keeps fighting even when the world feels stacked against her.

Fast paced, twisty, and full of personality, this instalment delivers supernatural chaos, gripping danger, and character growth that feels earned. It’s the kind of urban fantasy that hooks you and refuses to let go. It is also one of the few books I have read over the last few years that delivered revelations that genuinely surprised me. So I’m already impatient for whatever trouble Elodie runs headfirst into next.

I received this book courtesy of Booksprout for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Overview: Elodie and Whip are heading back to London. Arabella has agreed to scry for Whip's sister, Kate, and Elodie is looking for some inclination for why her sun wards keep failing early. Once in London, Elodie begins to get warnings to go away. Who could be threatening her? Who is the guy who looks just like Alex? And how can Pongo open the para wards? Let's find out.

Dislikes: Whip is known to make mistakes with his single-minded focus on any situation. He does care for Elodie, very much in fact. Yet, he is willing to break all kinds of moral limits, while bending the legal limits, just to find Kate.

Paulette made the same mistake that the nymphs accused others of. She was unwilling to help anyone who didn't take care of the earth like she did.

Likes: Donna, Alex, and Amira were willing to move past their comfort zones just to help Elodie.

Pongo managed to hide a lot. No one will mess with that dog, without serious regrets.

I enjoyed meeting Elodie's dad and step-mom.

Conclusion: This book was a little harder for me to read, but it was still good. If you like urban fantasy tales, then this book is for you. Enjoy the read.

This book was chock full of revelations both good and bad for Elodie and Whip as they travel to the UK. Elodie is searching for answers to her strange magic through researching who or what her ancestors might have been. Whip is searching for his sister and must quest for the items needed to scry for her. They are accompanied by friends old and new as Elodie learns more about the para world.

This was a rough book emotionally. I felt for Elodie as she is hit from every direction with secrets, death threats, and betrayals. Whip is enmeshed in his own drama and feels further from her than ever. But a surprising reveal about her beloved dog Pongo was a delight in the midst of all the angst. I KNEW there was something special about that dog!!

The big baddie in the climax is a total surprise, and even though we are left floundering with the ending, there is much more to come. I feel like this book is the pivot point in the series so, even though it left me with many unresolved questions and a whole bunch of new ones, I am excited to see where these new developments take the story!! Can't wait for the next book!.

I was going to wait until closer to the publish date but couldn’t. I’m really glad I didn’t wait. This is another great book in the series.
Elodie is heading to England hoping to find something about her background which would explain the failure of the day walking spells. Travelling with Whip, who is still looking for his sister, Arabella the witch and of course Pongo. It’s really handy that Whip has his own private jet.
Things don’t start out well. Arriving at the marina where Arabella lives, they face an irritated part griffin and find Arabella’s boat has gone travelling without her. They end up staying with Alex’s brother, another surprise.
Meeting with her best friend Donna doesn’t go that smooth either as Donna doesn’t trust Whip.
Elodie is also being threatened by an unknown person.
This book has some mystery, great characters, interesting story, humour and maybe romance.
There are quite a few surprises, a bit of a cliffhanger, some suspense.
All in all, it is a great book. I’ve loved every book in this series and will be looking forward to the next.
Highly recommend this book and series.

Elodie Evergreen is back, and Nymphs and Newsreels was another fun, fast, chaotic ride in the best way. Elodie has that perfect mix of stubborn, curious, brave, and “ma’am, please think for two seconds before sprinting directly into danger” energy that makes her so easy to root for.

And Pongo? PONGO. I love him so much. Elodie’s bond with Pongo is honestly one of my favorite parts of this whole series. He is not just a cute sidekick tossed in for decoration. He has personality, heart, and a way of stealing every scene he trots into. Their connection gives the story so much warmth, and I am fully here for every single Pongo moment.

I really enjoyed the mystery, the supernatural chaos, the humor, and the continued character growth. The story had plenty going on without feeling like too much, and I loved seeing Elodie keep pushing forward even when things got messy, dangerous, and emotionally complicated.

This was fun, twisty, full of personality, and exactly the kind of urban fantasy I love to binge. Ella Stone keeps giving me characters I care about, mysteries I want solved, and a dog I would absolutely protect with my whole soul. I’m ready for the next one.

Elodie's sunlight wards are failing and she must figure out why. She knows it's not from her mother's side of the family, so it must be on her father's side. So, when Whip needs to go back to England to search for his sister, Katie, they add that on to their itinerary. But not everyone is welcoming of Elodie back home and the drama starts as soon as they get to the community Arabella lives in. Someone really does not want Elodie investigating and she needs to find out before it's too late.
Elodie just can't seem to stay out of trouble, even when she has not even done anything yet. She's just as determined to help Whip, even if they are unsure of their relationship at this time. She's having a hard time forgiving him and he makes it even more difficult during the events in this book. Even faced with distant family that wants nothing to do with her, Elodie is still the caring and helpful person she is. It's hard to figure out Whip right now. He seems to care for Elodie, but in his search for his sister he is making some pretty big mistakes. We get to learn more about Alex in this book and let's just say he's been pretty sneaky! We got to meet Connor the caffeine loving otter and I can't wait to read more about him!
Another fast paced adventure with so many twists!! OMG, the amount of surprises we got in this book was crazy!! We finally get a reveal we have been waiting the entire series for! Of course, there was the plot twist of who was after Elodie and it didn't stop there! All the secrets that Elodie has been holding in come out and create emotional fallout as well. All of the characters are put through the emotional wringer in this book. And after that ending, as usual, I am absolutely ready for the next book!

Nymphs And Newsreels was a real journey of a story, for me as a reader with so much happening, and for the characters, as travelling featured heavily in their days.

There was an emphasis on relationships in this book and I liked that very much. It was a real pleasure to see some solidify while at the same time, a revelation as others fractured. It gave Ms Stone room to play with her characters, adding previously unseen facets and tease possible directions for future books. I like that method of pulling me back for forthcoming releases and the connection it gives me to those characters.

There was a nice progression to the story. Things moved along well, with all the twists that are a feature of this series. Pacing was great and I was always interested in the present, while anticipating the future.

There are big things hinted at too, which are too spoilery to talk about!!! I can't wait for the next book, when hopefully I'll get a bit of resolution. Keen for more, please!

Elodie Evergreen needs answers as to why her sunlight wards fail so quickly. She and Whip return to England both to find her answers and his sister Katie. Right off the plane she starts getting threats and she’s seeing a side to Whip she’s never seen before as he seems to stop at nothing to get what he wants and she discovers she didn’t really know him at all. Can she reveal who wants to hurt her before they succeed in her demise? Will they find Whip’s sister in time?

There’s so much going on in this one! It would stand on it’s own but why not read the entire spell binding series! Lots of surprise reveals in this one with the action, adventure and laughter you’d expect from Elodie Evergreen too! I couldn’t put it down! Quite the cliffhanger too! I absolutely can’t wait for the next one to find out what happens and to see if my theory about why Elodie and Alex is correct. Highly recommend this series!

Nymphs and Newsreels. Ravens Hollow Investigations Bk 5

Please note this is Book 5 of the series I recommend you go back and start at Book 1, the series is worth it.

Elodie wants to learn more about her father's family, while Whip is determined to find Katie. Their search takes them to the UK aboard Whip's private jet - something no one knew he owned. This revelation only deepens Elodie's concerns about everything he has kept from her. The trust between them has been broken. Arabella and Pongo join the trip, but when they arrive, Bessie, her sentient houseboat, and Colin, her otter, are missing.

I will not reveal anything else, except to say that is an action packed, emotional roller coaster ride that I very much enjoyed and think this is the best one of the series.

I look forward to seeing what happens next.

It's time to get answers to some of the questions that have been burning holes through the pages since book 1 of Raven's Hollow! Elodie, Pongo and the gang are headed back to the UK, and the air is rife with tension. After they land, there is someone trying to do away with Elodie Evergreen, yet again, and as she explores her family's past, can she find the answers she seeks before it's too late and she is confined to eternal darkness? Her family and friends gather around her, which, as we can all attest, is the best time to reveal secrets and inspire more questions than answers.

After all this time, I thought we might just be finally finding out what in Elodie's family history might be causing her wards to fail, but in Nymphs and News Reels, Pongo makes his move! I can't wait for more to be revealed!

Elodie is determined to learn more about her father’s family while Whip searches for Katie. Their journey to the UK aboard Whip’s secret private jet only deepens Elodie’s distrust over everything he’s kept from her. Arabella and Pongo join them, but upon arrival they discover Bessie, Elodie’s sentient houseboat, and Colin the otter are missing. Surprises keep coming—meeting Alex’s brother and learning about the “1/4,” deeper revelations about Pongo (hinted at by the spitting), and the intriguing Raptor. Threats against Elodie lead to a devastating twist I never saw coming. Donna’s reluctant help brings still more bombshells once Katie is found. The rude nymph Pauletta had me seething, and Pongo’s heritage left me stunned. I was completely engrossed and cried my eyes out for Elodie.

This book is the fifth in a series. I would recommend reading the other books to get the back story and get to know the characters. I will say this one is so much better than book 4. This one takes place in the UK and has two mysteries in the book. Who wants the bloodsucker gone and where is Whip's sister. This one is starting to get us into the Guardian part of the book and find out who they are. This is a cozy mystery fantasy and I would recommend it to anyone that just needs a mystery fantasy that you can actually figure out. I love to see how the characters are growing and developing throughout this book. There are some surprises thrown in that had me going omg. We are back with Elodie and the gang, this time as they make their way to jolly old England to get the answers that they need. It’s an action packed adventure as someone is making threats against Elodie, secrets arise and we get to meet dear old dad and the step mum. Twists and turns draw us in as we make our way round the uk where we meet some intriguing characters and make some new friends and also some more enemies. We finally find out Pongo’s secret and I have to say I did not expect that!!! We also get one step closer to finding Whip’s sister and find ourselves in a whole heap of trouble and lots of danger. It’s an incredible read, gripping, captivating and totally jaw dropping and emotional and the author really knows how to keep you hooked from start to finish.

As much as I would like to, I haven't been able to go above 3-stars for this series. Elodie has a serious issue with keeping secrets that comes back to cause lots of angst and hurts. She's keeping them from everyone because she thinks it's better - but it never is. There are quite a few surprises that are sort of sad. During the "villain's" soliloquy there are things said that El should have listened to but she didn't. She is too focused and it drags others down with her. There seems to be some resolution coming with Whip and their relationship. The love triangle that has been hinted at since book 1 also seems to be coming to light. So much for spending time alone and getting to know herself. The search for Kate will continue and there are quite a few surprises there too.

So amazing!

Oh my goodness, I absolutely devoured this book in ONE sitting! I can’t believe that I now have to wait until October for the next one! Oh, and also it’s apparently the LAST one in the series! WHAT?!?! I hope this author reconsiders, because six is not NEARLY enough! I mean, we are only going to get one book about Elodie and Alex? How is that even remotely fair? And we just now found out about Pongo! Which to be honest, Pongo deserves his very own series, based on his feelings and perspective! This book was amazing, just wish it had been much longer! Lastly, I have to admit, I thought I knew who her stalker/tormentor was going to turn out to be…and I was not even REMOTELY close! Amazing!!

I enjoyed this latest installment of Elodie’s adventures. I read it in about three hours or so. It was very fast paced. I could not put it down. That said I was firmly on team Whip, but I think I have changed allegiance to team Alex.🤣 I did not see either one of the twists that happened in this book coming! They both completely caught me by surprise! I won’t go into more details than that because I don’t believe in spoilers. If you have not read the series start at the beginning and you will finish it extremely quickly. I know what she was told by the nymphs will come in to play, and I cannot wait to see how it plays out in the next book!

I have come to really love these characters, and I was glad to be back in their universe. Elodie is on the hunt for more about her ancestors, and Whip is looking for his sister, all in the UK. It was fun to finally see more of Donna and Amira, and I’m sad about a particular turn in a certain plot, but I can’t say because of spoilers. However, it isn’t a bad thing just something that…I think I’ll just be quiet. LOL! Anyway, this is a great addition to the series, and the places plot-wise we ended up with were complete surprises to me. I quite enjoyed this latest edition of the series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

This is book 5 in the series and Elodie, Whip, and Pongo are off to England to look for his sister and maybe find out why these things are not working on her. She meets up with her best friend and goes through some issues. Things don’t go exactly like they want but they do find out some things as they are investigating. I love this series and it continues where the last one lets off. I love Elodie and Pongo. They are great characters. It is a quick read and an easy read. I love reading these to find out what is going on with these characters. Of course more to come! Great plot and great characters.

Okay, I did not expect it to go in that direction. I have to say that what went down the whole book between Whip and Elodie took me for a loop. Reading this you realize just how much she relies on her impulsiveness to get through situations. Also, she has poor communication skills in general. She kept trying to keep things away from everyone and it all eventually came out. This book made me feel bad for Whip and his situation. I am eager to know how it plays out in the next book. There was adventure, magic and revelations in this book.

I love this series so much. Each book keeps getting better. This time it was really neat seeing Elodie back in London, getting to really experience it as a vampire. Her initial reaction to Mystic Moorings was adorable, and a sharp counterpoint for what happened later. This book was intense with all the character interactions and revelations, and some major relationship developments. If you've read the previous books in the series, you know this one will be great. If you're new to the series, start at the beginning for the best experience.

As usual, Elodie Evergreen has a mystery to solve. Or more than one in this case. And there is definitely a surprise twist. While you are turning pages and staying up late so you can finish the book, Elodie learns more about herself and the paranormal world.
Spoiler: while one mystery is solved and resolved, another has a big surprise which carries over and will leave you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next book.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Best book yet!
