A long time coming

This read will knock you into reality quickly. It's a great reminder for each of us to listen, really listen to others and not just assume a certain behavior is one thing when in reality it is a response to an occurrence that happened prior. This brings to the table a discussion of some topics that aren't as freely discussed as others. This author did a wonderful job portraying this story for us to be reminded of some very important issues.

This book is about a girl named Rayne who suffers from being sexually abused beginning at the tender age of 8. This just leads to a downward spiral in her life and she feels that she is not loved or wanted by anyone. She does meet a friend named Linda but Linda is not the best influence on Rayne.
This is a heartbreaking story that reads like it was based on a true life experience. I don’t think someone could make some of the things up that happened in this book. This book is a real eye opener that I feel should be read by anyone who has kids or is around them. This story about Rayne could be anyone. I think it affected me so much because things like this happen all of the time, and we don’t always see the signs that a child is showing that something is wrong.
Children usually believe adults when they tell them something. When their family is threatened because the child tells on the person doing the abusing…well that child probably won’t tell their parents. I could go on and on about this, but I will wrap it up.
This was a great awareness book that was hard to read, but a story that needed to be told. Like I said above I highly recommend this book to anyone who has kids or is around them. This book gets 5***** from this reviewer.

"Saving Rayne" by Marissa Storm is a heartbreaking tale of a little girl who was molested from the age of eight and had no one to turn to. Her parents and family never paid attention to her. Her Uncle Tom had threatened the lives of her family if she didn't keep his secret, so she kept it and dealt with the pain and sick things he would do. Through friends she found out she was not the only one dealing with this but turned to drugs to escape the depressing life she was living. As a last ditch effort she approached a school counselor who made her feel ashamed of herself. Feeling at the end of her road she decides to end her life.

This book is a must read for all parents. It's a very hard read and was a bit detailed, but it needed to be to get the story across. Listen to you children, watch them and notice changes in behavior and question all things involving them. You are their protector, so protect them from the predators in the world.
