For listeners who crave workplace tension, age-gap romance, and fiery chemistry, Heart of Stone is a swoon-worthy story about a fearless PR powerhouse and the grumpy cowboy who can't resist her.
Eleanor Stewartt built her public relations empire with razor-sharp wit, relentless drive, and a will that refuses to bend. When she's hired to salvage the reputation of a luxury ranch on the brink of scandal, she walks in ready to take control.
What she doesn't expect is Colton Stone.
The stubborn, dangerously handsome CEO built his empire on discipline and dominance and has no intention of handing over the reins to anyone. Especially not a bold PR powerhouse who challenges him at every turn.
Forced to work side by side for two months, they clash over strategy, control, and whose vision will win. But beneath the power and heated arguments simmers an undeniable attraction neither of them can ignore.
They're two people who are used to standing their ground, and now they must decide if love is worth giving up a piece of their hearts of stone.
🚨 SPOILER ALERT: READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! I am giving Heart of Stone by M. Hartley an incredible 4.5-star review! ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ A sizzling cowboy romance packed with top-tier banter, forced proximity, slow-burn tension, and an unforgettable grumpy-sunshine dynamic! 🤠🌾✨ ARC Disclosure: A big thank you to NetGalley, author M. Hartley, and publisher Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op | Page & Vine for providing an advance review copy (ARC) of this book! All thoughts, fanatical reactions, and honest reflections shared in this review are entirely my own. The Review So I got to know M. Hartley this year with her other series of cowboys, Faircloud—I loved all four books of that one! So when I saw this new book coming, I had to have it, and I'm so glad I did. Colton and Eleanor are sublime main characters. She’s a strong, unbending FMC, and he’s just top-tier! The banter between them, the whole grumpy-sunshine thing going on—it's sublime! Add to that a bit of cowboy x city girl, forced proximity, slow burn, and workplace romance, and I'm sooo in. This was such a good read that kept me hooked to the pages. The only reason why it’s not a full 5 stars is because I didn't particularly like the third-act breakup... the ending though, I liked a lot! I can't wait to read book two of this new series! The Good Top-tier MMC energy from Colton, Eleanor’s strong and unbending presence, brilliant grumpy x sunshine banter, and a delicious slow-burn workplace setup! The Not So Good The third-act breakup wasn't my favorite plot direction, though the fantastic ending completely saved it!
🎧 AUDIOBOOK EXPERIENCE NARRATORS: Vivienne Page & Rich Miller
NARRATION STYLE: Dual Narration
LISTENING SPEED: 1.5x – 1.75x
The dual-style narration worked really well for this story! Overall, the narrators were fantastic choices—their tone matched the characters' personalities well, and they were very easy to listen to.
Vivienne Page: Did a phenomenal job with all of the voices! I thoroughly enjoyed every single one of her chapters; she was definitely my favorite overall.
Rich Miller: While his performance was solid, I struggled a bit with his narration. Something about his intonation didn’t quite agree with me, and when attempting to sound more feminine it wasn't my personal favorite—though certainly far from the worst I've heard!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 🌶️🌶️.5 🎧Dual Narration 🫦One Night Stand 😡Annoyance to Lovers 💖Age Gap 💻Workplace Romance Eleanor and Colton have a one night stand only to discover the next day they are set to work together for the next several months. I loved the back and forth banter of the annoyance of trying to work together but fighting back against each other’s ideas, all as a form of flirting. I loved the spicy scenes that always come after the banter. And the slow development of love for each other. And the final realization that giving in for love might just be worth it. Vivienne Page and Rich Miller were good picks for the characters they brought to love in the audio. Thank you M Hartley, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for the arc/alc.
Give 1000x of this! I will ALWAYS be a sucker for a city girl x country boy trope and this absolutely NAILED it!
The tension and “fighting” and bickering and frustration were absolutely top notch and made for the best chemistry! Like ugh! SO HOT! 😩
I absolutely loved the PR manager fix the blunder plot and the twist I didn’t see coming!
All of the characters were well developed and such a good time and I’m excited to see where this series goes!
And for audio- the narrators were fantastic choices and did a great job! I felt their tone matched the characters personalities and they were very easy to listen to!
