Cool concept. We have an isekai’d hero that returns home and that is where the story begins. The magic system was cool and the MC is definitely set up to be OP. I enjoyed the story and definitely want to see what happens next.

fun
Fun read, great concept but I struggled with the pacing. The majority of the book is two or three days, then a months worth training montage is summed up in a few pages. I suppose it all worked but it felt slow in some places. Still, I’m looking forward to how the story progresses.

I enjoyed the first family gathering. The characters were not what I expected. I do wish there was more to the family story. Maybe in the next book. Arg! Now we wait...

Main Character is abused by a mind reading captor who speed runs him into Stockholm syndrome. He's not really OP. Just mentally abused and physically abused. He claims to have agency but when he asks any questions he's told to shut up and do as he's told. He repeatedly claims to not want a mentor and just someone to give advice but he's become his captor's lap dog who does whatever she wants him to do. He's spent years in another world learning a ton but it's like he's a blank slate now.
He's fought for his life maybe 7-8 times in 5 hours and hasn't eaten once despite constantly talking about being hungry after taking potions. Lots of inconsistencies. He's constantly told one thing and does another. it's almost like the author took huge breaks between writing sections. "you will train daily with your team to learn to worth together" to "we will meet up in one month to do the thing and i will make sure the main character is prepared" in just one paragraph. Queue PTSD mental break that our captor helps him cure with one talk.
It's also not an Isekai. That's just a marketing term to trick you. It takes place on Earth besides the first few pages.

There's a decent, if unoriginal, story buried beneath the painful prose of this book. While there are frequent grammar errors, regular malapropisms, and an occasional transformative eggcorn, I would have been content to finish had those been the only problems.
The root cause of my pain was the author's insecurity with his own voice. Rather than tell his tale using language and dialog familiar to him, he reached too far... trying to create more elevated prose. It would be unfair to compare his writing choices to "putting lipstick on a pig," as I'm sure Forge's natural voice would have been acceptable. Instead, let me compare this to a decent tyro swordsman approaching his first duel. Worried about the outcome he takes up an enormous double-handed longsword that is inevitably clumsy in his hands. His self-doubts lead to an ugly and avoidable failure.

Great characters, loved the family especially, trippy plot. Couple of beats I didn't expect, and it was satisfying enough, considering he's just started building power. He acts like a child with women though which is frustrating, and something a battle-hardened veteran wouldn't do. But at least it looks like this will be haremlit? I'm all for it!
There were some minor editing mistakes and sometimes the sentence just stops like the author forgot to finish it. Other than that, it was great, ready for the next one.
