Make sure you check your triggers, this book is DARK. But it is oh so good! I couldn’t put it down I needed to see Delilah get her revenge! A little second chance, masked man, with revenge I love it!
This was my first Dakota Wilde book and I jumped in at book two of the Kingston Prep series. I did not feel lost at all. Both books in this series are written as standalones set within the same universe, meaning Kingston Prep itself is the connective tissue rather than the characters. Book one, Truth or Dare, follows Hazel and a masked stalker named Ace, and deals with the aftermath of surviving that school. Tag, You’re It takes you back inside the walls and shows you exactly what made it so dark in the first place. You can read them in either order but I will say after finishing this one I went straight to add Truth or Dare to my list.
Dakota Wilde says in the author’s note that this is the darkest thing she has ever written. I believed her going in. I still was not ready.
Delilah is sixteen years old when her parents hand her over. Not to strangers. To men who knock on the door in the middle of the night and her mother and father just let them in. Kingston Prep is a reform school that wraps its abuse in scripture and calls it education. The people running it are the kind of evil that is scariest because it is completely recognizable.
That is also where she meets Cain. Obsessive and quiet, and the way he watches out for Delilah inside a place where caring about someone can get you both destroyed is the kind of slow burn that actually earns the payoff. Then the story rips them apart and Chapter 8 is the chapter that gutted me. I am not going to say more than that. Just know it is coming.
The final act is graphic, unhinged, and completely satisfying. These two earned their revenge and Dakota Wilde does not soften it for anyone. Good. She should not have.
If you are trying to figure out if this book is for you, think Penelope Douglas meets Tillie Cole with a revenge arc that would make Shantel Tessier proud. Dakota Wilde is carving out her own space but if those authors live on your shelf this book belongs there too.
Read the content warnings. Read the author’s note. Then read this book. And then go pick up Truth or Dare because now I need to know everything about this world she has built.
Please make sure you are checking your trigger and content warnings before reading. This book is DARKKKK
Wow! Wow! I honestly don't even know where to begin with this book because I loved it so much! This book will sit me for a while because wow! This book follows Delilah and Cain and the things they go through are terrible. Delilah is taken from her bed in the middle of the night and she doesn't understand what's going on. Come to find out she is going to Kingston Prep and doesn't know the things she will endure there. From the moment she meets Cain there is just something about him and she is just drawn to him. Delilah realizes that this isn't a regular school, she is at a place where the people running it are using religion in terrible ways. They think because they are religious they have all the power in the world.
The things that Delilah goes through in this book are terrible and had me feeling all types of different emotions. There were many times when I wanted to reach into my kindle and give her the biggest hug. Cain does everything in his power to protect Delilah but he also suffers at the hands of these terrible men. When Cain gets framed for something he didn't do he ends up in prison. Delilah is left alone at the hands of these awful men.
I don't want to say too much else because I don't want to give anything away. Because I don't want to spoil anything because I have so many thoughts and opinions on things that happened in this book. When I tell you the amount of emotions this book put me through doesn't even begin to explain it. The amount of things these characters had to go through I couldn't even begin to imagine.
Dude, the anxiety I have right now!!! Just finished Tag, You’re It and as much as my mind is running, my heart is racing just as fast!!
I’m so glad it ended the way it did because if things went the other way, I think I would’ve thrown my phone.
Let me start by saying PLEASE CHECK THE TRIGGERS!!! Dakota goes into lengths prior to reading and hear her! Your mental health matters but regardless, this story will anger you and break your heart at the same time.
Delilah - poor girl…my heart broke for her and everyone else in that crazy town that wouldn’t be molded to fit their cult like practices. Heaven forbid you have your own opinion. She was so strong and refused to be broken but lord did she go through it!!
Cain - her saving grace. He made her a promise and he kept it. Each of them have their own traumas and shitty families they come from but the fact that they found each other - that’s the only solace. He does everything in his power to give her the life she deserves…after kidnapping her back. Oh, did I mention he wears a mask 👀. The things he went through to get to that point…the system is so corrupt.
I feel like I’m still reeling! I also didn’t realize that this was book two in the series - Ace does come into play in this book and I guess he’s from the first one! Off the read his story now! This book will make you emotional - lean into and feel. It makes me so angry and sad that this actually happens to girls and women…I wish the world was a better place. Thank you Dakota for fucking me up…just kidding…thank you for having me on your arc/review team! This one punched me right in the feels. All opinions are my own.
Vibes: dark romance • emotionally heavy • obsessive tension • unsettling atmosphere Tropes: religious trauma • stalker MMC • revenge plot • captive x captor • healing together Format: ebook Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tag, You’re It by Dakota Wilde was a much heavier read for me emotionally than I expected.
The beginning was difficult for me to get through, not because it was poorly written, but because some of the themes hit very close to real-life situations I’ve seen happen to people around me. The trauma, manipulation, and emotional weight felt incredibly raw at times, which made parts of the story hard to sit with.
But once the story fully unfolded, I couldn’t put it down because I needed to know how everything was going to come together in the end.
The emotional weight throughout the story is intense, especially with the layers of trauma, revenge, and survival woven into Delilah and Cain’s journey. Their connection is messy, complicated, and emotionally charged in a way that keeps you invested even when the story becomes difficult to read.
Cain especially carries that obsessive, damaged energy that makes him hard to look away from, while the darker themes give the story a constant sense of tension and unpredictability.
The spice balanced well with the darker emotional elements, adding intensity without completely overpowering the story itself.
This is definitely one to check content warnings for beforehand, but if you enjoy darker romance with heavy themes, morally complex characters, and emotionally intense storytelling, this one delivers.
Before going into it...this is a DARK book. It's quite short which helps but oof. MIND THE TRIGGERS!
💚Stalker 💚Captive/Captor 💚Religious Trauma 💚Revenge 💚Burn the World Down
"I'd been at Kingston Prep for three months before I saw her. The girl who would change the entire trajectory of my life."
Growing up in a deeply conservative, religious household, poor Delilah is sent to Kingston prep... for nothing else but being a teenage girl (IYKYK). The way her parents treated her has me seeing RED! Kingston Prep is a religion-based prison, basically, where barbaric punishments are meant to break and mold these teenagers into little god-fearing lambs. Her only bright light is Cain, a fellow "dangerous" teen locked in Kingston Prep. Things QUICKLY get out of hand, derailing Delilah's life in unimageable ways. Accused of a crime he did not commit Cain is arrested, leaving Delilah to deal with the fall out for the next 5 years.
There is a redemption arc, and Delilah sure gets her revenge but booooooy, is it a blood bath. Since this was such a short book, there is not as much closure and I'd like to see, especially with how much trauma Delilah is dealing with but overall, I was satisfied with the ending. Cain ends up being an obsessed little stalker, we love to see it.
If you are into DARK, bloody romance with and ending filled with feminine rage...this book is for you! Just seriously, mind the triggers!

Book review:
There is so much that happens to Delilah in this book, from being SA to being forced to marry the person who did it. He is not a very kind man to her at all! We have CAIN that comes to her rescue later in the book, and they both get there revenge on her husband. I will tell you this book is dark, but it will end on a good note for cain and Delilah! @dakotawildeauthor
Tag You're It by Dakota Wilde is an interconnected standalone in the Kingston Prep Universe.
I have not read the first book, Truth or Dare, but you can bet that I will after reading this dark romance!
Delilah is abducted from her home with her parent's permission and sent to Kingston Prep, essentially a cult masquerading as a boarding school for troubled teens, when she meets Cain, another victim of neglectful abusive parenting. They quickly develop a forbidden bond that leads to Cain being imprisoned for a crime against Delilah that he did not commit. Delilah fought to voice the injustice against Cain but found herself in a hell of her abuser's making. Five years later, Delilah is confronted with a masked stalker that leads to her second kidnapping. However, this masked man seems to see her as an actual human and treats her better than anyone else has in her life. She finds herself unable to deny the pull she feels towards him and discovers he may be just the key to both her vengeance and happiness.
This book explores the themes of religious trauma, rape, victim shaming and blaming, interpersonal violence, as well as emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Please check your trigger warnings prior to reading. I truly enjoyed this book. It dived in to the aforementioned themes, but also focused on hope and healing. Delilah and Cain's story was very well done and I cannot wait for more books in this universe!
Short & fast-paced dark romance with tropes like religious trauma, revenge plot and captor x captive. Standalone that is apart of the Kingston Prep universe.
The premise of this book sounded amazing, the FMC Delilah grew up in a religious, conservative family and one day (or night) her family sends her to Kingston Prep to mold her into the perfect god-fearing daughter. And at Kingston she of course meets the MMC, Cain.
I liked both the main characters, how they met and their friendship/relationship development at Kingston. They truly were there for each other! They lost contact for a while, but I liked how they found each other again towards the end of the book.
This is quite a short book and the pacing fast, even a bit rushed at times. I wish there would’ve been a bit more time for Delilah to process her trauma and what happened to her both at Kingston Prep and after. Yes, she eventually got her well deserved revenge on those who hurt her, but I would’ve loved to see a bit more about how her traumatic experiences affected her, did she get over them, etc, and I think that would have brought more depth to her as a character.
Please check the TW/CW before reading!
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
This was such a bitter sweet and heart wrenching story, that on one hand I wanted it to be done but I didn’t want the story to be over yet. These characters brought so much emotion out of me!
I cannot begin to say or describe just how strong Delilah and Cain both are and how much they both overcome throughout the book. They each have had no one who cared about them until they found each other. Even when placed in Kingston Prep they somehow are still surviving and barely making it by. Cain knew from day one when Delilah was brought there that he would do whatever to protect her. Delilah knew that Cain is the only person there that wasn’t like everyone else and that she could trust him. But of course the world that had always been so unkind to them was not even close to being done with them yet. Together or apart it seemed Cain and Delilah could only expect the world to continue to beat them down and show them how unjust and unfair it is. But determination and revenge truly drive these two souls and make for a really compelling reunion! Cain knew to bid his time and do what he needed to do so he could get back to his girl!
Honestly there was such an emotional rollercoaster but so worth it! While Cain and Delilah’s story is very dark it is so good! I loved to see them get their time and loved the feminine rage! Which Cain also loved to watch 😂
What a dark ride this one was, and seriously it is pretty dark with several on page moments that were hard to read, so be mindful of your triggers. Now, with that said this is not a long read a little over 200 pages, but explores the darkside of religion and the trauma that follows.
While Cain and Delilah are at Kingston prep, they are subjected to cruel tactics in the name of religion, and their innocence and youth are stolen from them. I will be honest, parts were difficult to read because of the reality these types of situations.
Throughout their time there, Cain and Delilah find comfort in the literal hell they are living in. But Cain finds himself being accused of a crime he didnt commit and sent to prison. Soon after Delilah is forced into a marriage with an abusive man by her parents, despite her cries for help. When they are reunited several years later there is spice, revenge, and healing.
Overall, this was a solid dark romance. Since it’s on the shorter side, there wasn’t as much depth, but it still felt cohesive and had enough build-up to make the revenge plot so satisfying
It is a story about a love at first sight and how they feed off each other to make it through a school for wayward youth. You start of with a Delilah getting kidnaped because her parents think she is a delinquent and is taken to Kingston Perp to become a better person. Once there she meets Cain and it love at first sight. they push each other to keep themselves sane. Then you have their teacher Pastor John (total duchbag of a person) and he has is sights set on Delilah. Cain sticks up for her and tries to keep the punishment lacks on her or takes it all together. Well this causes a problem that Pastor John fixes in the worst possible way. See trigger warnings Pastor John ends up marring Delilah while Cain is in jail. When he get out all the fun begins starting with getting Delilah back and rewiring what John has done to her while he was a way. They exact a plan for revenge for what he did to them and they both live happily ever after traveling the world.
All in all I liked the book it did ruffle my feathers at one point, but I love what Dakota writes and would read her books anytime.

I love Delilah and Cain 😭😭 This was such a good book and the emotion I felt reading Delilah’s storyline and her struggles (which the word “struggles” doesn’t even accurately represent all she went through) was so intense. The way she was scared of the thunder… my heart 😩 I also adore Cain. A man who keeps his promises? I’ll take 10. But a morally grey, m@sked, st@lker MMC who keeps his promises? I’ll take TWENTY. 😮💨 Loved this, and I need a Rascal sticker immediately. IYKYK. 🐿️
I devoured Tag, You’re It in one sitting. Dakota Wilde really knows how to drag you into the chaos of the Kingston Prep world and keep you there. This book had that perfect dark, twisted cat and mouse energy between Delilah and her stalker that had me kicking my feet one second and questioning my life choices the next.
The tension in this book was insane. The masked anti hero was completely unhinged in the best possible way. Possessive, filthy, obsessive, and somehow still had me blushing every second chapter. The spice was absolutely next level too. If you love dark romance with religious trauma, praise, toxic obsession, and all the morally black red flag men, this one delivers hard.
Dakota Wilde’s writing is so addictive and easy to fly through. Even though it’s a shorter read, it never felt rushed and I was hooked the entire time.
If you love primal chase vibes, dark romance that fully leans into the obsession, and men who need serious therapy, you’ll eat this up. Definitely recommend if you’ve already read Truth or Dare because the Kingston Prep universe just keeps getting better.
First and foremost CHECK CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNINGS Dakota herself states in this book that this is her darkest yet. And it was dark & I will say Dakota is amazing as there is a very heavy chapter that even though it's not very detailed thankfully & the traumatic event is quick DAKOTA GIVES US THE READER A WARNING THAT THE TRAUMATIC CHAPTER IS COMING UP AND THAT IF YOU FIND IT TRIGGERING THEN YOU MIGHT WOULD WANT TO SKIP IT & THAT IN ITSELF MADE THIS BOOK A 5 STAR BOOK BECAUSE not only does Dakota write a difficult dark story that held me in it's grasp you can tell she cares about her readers with that Pre Warning. The MMC & FMC is LOVE those two Delilah & Cain is felt like I was going through what they were, that's how amazing Dakota writes her stories, the stuff these two went through to be together was just unbelievable & the evil from the sick so called pastor ooooo he just pi$$ed me off that he eventually learns the hard way of what goes around comes around. I can't go into many details here as I didn’t want to chance giving spoilers cause this book was amazing & I LOVED it but it also aggravated me only because I wanted the villain to just jump off a cliff LOL.
I devoured this book in one day!! We meet Delilah, who has had the worst upbringing as an only child gets sent away to Kingston Prep in the middle of the night. There, she meets and begins a crush/friendship with our guy, Cain. Kingston isn't sunshine and rainbows. Its sole focus is fear and God's plan. The staff push beliefs and intimidation, all while keeping things looking great to the outside world. When the unthinkable happens to Delilah, both her and Cain are pushed in opposite directions. But Cain makes a promise and intends to keep that promise no matter what happens. This story really had me in my feels. From the abuse and trauma to the fact that everyone turns a blind eye, I was enraged yet hopeful Dakota gave us the HEA we needed. And I was not disappointed. Cain did as promised and helped Delilah feel safe for the first time in her life. Their connection was heart felt, and you could feel their bond on every page. This one is a must-read with caution. Please read the trigger warnings.
I couldn’t wait to read this book and learn more about Kingston!! This story however broke my heart. Delilah endured so much from her parents growing up and they just send her off to Kingston, actually have her kidnapped in the middle of the night. But she learns so much from the other students, same thing happened to them as well. Her only refuge was meeting Cain. He had a similar upbringing and shipped off to Kingston. But you wouldn’t believe what happens at this school. Grounded on biblical beliefs but the teachers and pastors, not so much. It was more of a cult and the things these kids went through just breaks your heart. But after Delilah was SA she was forced to marry Pastor John and Cain took the fall and jail time for a crime he didn’t commit. After 5 years he finds Delilah, takes her and she finally learns who he is under the mask. So now revenge is the best medicine. They’re both set out to make Pastor John and Kingston pay for everything they did. The spice was amazing, story was great and sad. Can’t wait to read what Dakota has for us next!!

Before diving into this book...this is a DARK book. It’s a short read but MIND THE TRIGGERS!
She grew up in a deeply conservative, religious household. Delilah is sent to Kingston prep.. basically for nothing else but being a teenage. Kingston Prep is a religion-based prison. It’s where barbaric punishments are meant to break and mold these teenagers into god-fearing lambs. Cain is also locked up Kingston Prep. Things get out of hand. Cain is accused of a crime he did not commit and is arrested. This leaves Delilah to deal with the fall out for the next 5 years. I know it was a short read but honestly; it could have been longer so the ending didn’t feel rushed. Hopefully we’ll get more of these two…
"I'd been at Kingston Prep for three months before I saw her. The girl who would change the entire trajectory of my life."
This book honestly wrecked me. My anxiety was through the roof the entire time, and there were multiple moments where I had to pause because I was so angry and heartbroken for these characters. Definitely check trigger warnings first because this story goes *dark*.
Delilah broke my heart. Everything she went through felt so unfair and cruel, but I loved that she never fully let them break her spirit. And Cain…that man had me emotional. He loved her so fiercely from the beginning, and knowing they only really had each other in such a horrible environment made their connection hit even harder for me.
The whole story made me feel rage, sadness, anxiety, relief—literally everything. The reunion and revenge moments were so satisfying after everything they endured. I finished this feeling emotionally drained but also weirdly grateful I read it.
Definitely check your triggers for this one, there are some dark themes involved!
Two teenagers (Cain and Deliliah) are sent to a religious school for troubled kids to fix them of all their sins! However this religious school isn't exactly following the peace and love mentality, more very old school abuse!
Its love at first sight for these two, Cain becomes the protector that Delilag needed in this new environment! However due to some very traumatic situations they are separated with the promise from Cain that he will find Delilah no matter what!
I don't want to give away too much about what happens to the pair while they are apart, but its not pretty! Once back together the pair plan their revenge for those who have wronged them!

Tag You’re It is quite the whirlwind ride. Dakota Wilde does an amazing job with the world building and character development. Being literally thrown into this dark and savagely depraved world when our characters are just teenagers, seeing their bond form, sacrifices made and promises given is deeply moving. This story is intense as layers of trauma are revealed exposing raw emotions. My heart is pumping just thinking about it all. I experienced the full gambit of feels. The slow burn is worth every excruciating minute. The revenge gruesomely satisfying. Definitely check the trigger warnings to ensure this book is right for you as this story hits some very difficult subject matter. I loved Truth or Dare, book 1 in the Kingston Prep series. Each is a standalone but I’d recommend reading in order to enhance the experience.
Cain & Delilah’s story is a dark one. Delilah was abused by her parents but she was biding her time until she was 18 and could get away. Instead she was snatched from her bed in the middle of the night with her parents blessing. Cain’s father doled out punishments that were pure torture. They wound up at Kingston Prep, a school for “problem children”. My heart cried for the hell the students went through and the time jump about killed me. I do love when evil people get what they deserve and the vengeance that was delivered was magnificent. Sometimes healing starts with taking everything from the ones who took everything from you. Yes Cain & Delilah’s story was dark but together they made it a beautiful one.
Even though this book is loaded with heavy content be assured that Dakota always writes with the utmost compassion in regards to sensitive topics.
This is a DARK book. Please read the triggers before picking up the book. Dakota does prepare you for one chapter that might be a trigger for most readers.
This book truly had me in a chokehold; I just couldn't put it down when I was reading it. The plot just kept getting better with each chapter, and the emotions I was feeling for Delilah and Cain. My heart really did break for these two, especially towards the end. Holy. Crap. My heart was beating out of my chest because I swore they would truly do it, but thank god Ace made it in time. Dakota left absolutely no crumbs when writing this book. An amazing job.
x masked man x stalking x revenge plot x healing from trauma
This was easily a 5 star read for me , I couldn’t put it down even if I wanted to . Every time I said to myself just one more chapter I ended up reading more to find out what would happen next. The FMC Delilah goes through a lot of trauma and abuse and it was gut wrenching for me but when she gets her revenge I never felt so happy for a character in my life . The MMC Cain was everything ! the amount of yearning and helping her enact her revenge (I love a supportive king) and trying to help Delilah deal with her trauma. Definitely one of my favorites 💕
I didn’t find this story particularly dark or especially spicy, but it did have an interesting plot. We follow Delilah, who is sent by her own parents to a corrupt and abusive boarding school, where she meets Cain, a fellow student who becomes her only lifeline.
One day, she is assaulted by a teacher, and when Cain rescues her, he is falsely accused of the crime and imprisoned for five years. Meanwhile, because she becomes pregnant, Delilah is forced into an underage marriage with her abuser, Pastor John.
Years later, Cain tracks her down and rescues her, initially hiding his identity behind a mask in order to protect her. In the end, they finally get their HEA.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Where do I even start. I was addicted to this book within the first few pages! I was heartbroken, disgusted and proud. This book is dark yet beautiful from down in the trenches to rising above it all. If you like a strong FMC and MMC who is committed to the FMC then this book is for you! Tag, you're it destroyed me not sure how Ill recover from this one!

I am such a sucker for a good revenge plot, now mix it with the religious trauma and the fact it’s a masked man saving/kidnapping her, i was destined to love this book. If you love a captive x captor, A masked man who’s lovable and protective, id check this book out. However fair warning there is a long list of trigger warnings I highly suggest you though only read before blindly picking this book up, i was okay by following the instructions to skip a certain chapter and really didn’t feel too left out from not reading it.
This was a very heavy read, really focusing on religious trauma and abuse of power. Cain and Delilah meet at school and immediately there is a connection....the kind of connection that time cannot stop. Terrible circumstances happen and time passes. But the last 1/3 of the book is satisfying to say the least (I love a good revenge plot). Delilah is a firecracker and such a strong woman. Cain is such a cute little man seeking vengeance. Please check trigger warnings before diving in
I had a hard time with this one but it was a reader issue, not the author. The writing as always was great, and I really liked the premise.
The problem I had was that vindication took too long. The FMC goes through something traumatic we can feel the buildup of for many pages, so it isn't surprising when it happens (and I greatly appreciate the author warning immediately before the chapter). What was surprising to me was that the innocent FMC then had 5 more years of abuse to endure before she finally gets an opportunity to escape it.
Wow! This book was so good!! 5 stars! Cain and Delilah are definitely survivors!! Just from what they endured at Kingston Prep, Pastor John and Cain’s 5 years in prison, it doesn’t even scratch the surface of what they truly survived!! They survived hell on earth and came out on top of it all!! Plus the side character friends, Ace and Margot, even though you didn’t learn a lot about them, Cain and Delilah were lucky to have 2 supportive and trusting friends!!
CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!
