This is a hard review for me because I absolutely loved Come for Me parts one and two. Those are easily two of my favorite stories, so I went into this one with high expectations. Unfortunately, Prey for Me just didn’t land the same for me.

I did like being back in the same world with some of the OG characters from the first two books. When the plot was driving the story, I was interested. Where I struggled was connecting with the main characters. I just never fully connected with them or their dynamic, and because of that, the story felt way longer than it needed to be. I kept thinking this would have worked better for me as a quick side novella.

There were also a few moments that felt cringy to me. “Call me Daddy.” Yeah, no. The relationship direction just didn’t land for me personally.

The audiobook, though, was phenomenal. Lucy Rivers, Andi Eloise, Corvin King, and Joe Arden are an all-star cast, and the performances were easily the strongest part of the experience. The narration kept me going even when the story itself wasn’t fully pulling me in.

Overall, this one just wasn’t for me, even though I still have a lot of love for this world and the first two books. I’d recommend it more to readers who are already invested in the series/world and enjoy darker romance where the relationship takes center stage over the plot.

Great Shifter Dark Romance

Audiobook-4.5🌟

We waited for this third book for what seemed to be forever and C.J. Sweet delivered once again!

This is for you if you like:

-Enemies-to-lovers
-Strong FMC
-Fated mates
-Yearning
-Good Spice 🔥
-Werewolves, witches,
vampires & sirens
-Touch her and 💀

Prey for Me is a dark shifter romance that, thrives on intense yearning and a constant push-and-pull between the leads. This was a great addition to an amazing series! The FMC Jay stands out as fiercely strong and resilient, never losing her sense of self despite the tension around her. I loved Jay’s grit! I really liked learning about Jay’s past and everything she went through. Meanwhile, the MMC Caleb shows real development, shifting in ways that make their dynamic feel more layered over time. It’s a gripping, emotionally charged listen that leans into both desire and conflict.

Lucy Rivers voices the FMC with strength and emotional clarity, making her resilience feel immediate and grounded. Corvin King delivers a layered performance, capturing his gradual development and adding real depth to his arc. This duo was a great match for this audiobook! Andi Eloise and Joe Arden were amazing additions to this audio.

Audiobook narrated by Corvin King, Lucy Rivers, Joe Arden, and Andi Eloise.

Unhinged, and completely addictive. Caleb is powerful but loyal, and the twist of his enemy being his fated mate? Chaos in the best way.

Jay’s story hits hard and dark, raw, and impossible not to feel. The tension and slow burn pull was great.

And this narrator lineup was Flawless.

Wild ride. Worth every second. 🎧

I picked up the third book mainly because I really like the narrators, especially Corvin King, who is my absolute favorite. Of the three books, this one is the one I enjoyed the most. The story feels more focused, the emotional tension and chemistry between the main characters are stronger and more convincing than in the first two books, and the world finally feels a bit clearer with more direction in the plot.

However, the book still does not fully use the potential it could have had. The sense of confusion about which time period the story is actually set in, which I already had in the first two books, continues here. The story is supposed to be contemporary, but the setting often feels inconsistent, as if it cannot clearly decide what kind of world it wants to be.

The author also still struggles with logic and consistency. Many loopholes from the earlier books remain and the red thread is still shaky, especially when it comes to politics and hierarchies. Certain groups and councils are presented as powerful and important, even though they could easily be replaced without changing much.

On top of that, the book is still full of filler scenes that feel unnecessary. The same goes for the spice. There is a lot of it and it is often well done, but the author throws in so many random kinks at the same time, as if she wanted to add all of them at once. Some combinations feel forced or over the top, and instead of sharpening the emotional core, it feels like too much was added for the sake of intensity alone. All of this takes up space that could have been used for something more meaningful.

Because there was actually enough material here to fill two books, if the author had focused more on the hidden backstories of the creatures and characters that were only briefly mentioned. The witches, the rogue wolves, the sirens, vampires and hybrids have strong potential, and their hints make the world feel bigger. However, many of these elements are left very open and are not explored in depth, which makes them feel disconnected from the world they are supposed to be part of. The author may have left some of these stories open on purpose to explain them in future books, but that also means the earlier volumes feel weak and confusing instead of building a clear foundation.

The ending feels extremely rushed. The conflict between the two characters and everything they went through suddenly seems too easy to resolve, almost as if the emotional weight of their journey is brushed aside in the last chapters.

Amazing performance by Lucy Rivers, Andi Eloise, Joe Arden and Corvin King.

What a wild ride this was!
The spicy, action packed story of Jay and Caleb, both wolf shifters.
Jay is considered a low life rogue, while Caleb is the next Alpha from a bloodhound pack, seeking revenge. Jay was the one to kill his dad. So he took her prisoner to avenge his father.

Caleb also finds out she is his mate the minute she kills his dad, and he decided not to share that knowledge, instead he brought her home and locked her in a cage ( yeah that was kind of hot too aaooooooo)

There is a scene, that I may or may not read twice ( you would too ..)
since Jay is a picky eater, most foods Caleb offered her goes untouched, so my man decided that her source of protein would be "Cuming" from him ( if you catch my drift) ... In a bawl ( so proper lol )

Not all pack members, were happy having her among them, so when an attempt at her life goes wrong, Caleb's reaction spoke volumes !

Jay is a strong FMC, she had to become the monster they named her after in order for her to survive.
The cruel Life she had from childhood, lead her to raise a wall around her heart, until Caleb ... aka Master!

Thank you Blue nose and CJ Sweet for this ALC.

As someone who has never read a faded mate or shifter book (aside from Twilight decades ago at this point) I was completely blown away but just how invested I got in these characters! I listened to Come For Me part 1 & 2 and then went into the ALC of Prey For Me and was completely captivated!

Corvin IS Caleb in the best way in this audio! He is strong and ruthless in parts and kind and vulnerable in others. I was so excited to dive know Caleb's story was coming as soon as I met him in Come For me. I was obsessed with tangled web of emotions he and Jay have to navigate through to get to their HEA. Anger, resentment, resistance, forgiveness ... ALL of the things while fighting fated bonds and a messy history. I LOVED IT!

Audio: Corvin King and Lucy Rivers as MMC and FMC with Joe Arden and Andi Eloise rounding out the full cast!

This was such a roller coaster book and i was there for it every minute!

I loved every minute of it, and Lucy and Corvin (our Jay and Caleb) did absolutely amazing! I had shivers every time!

I may have been a bit confused exactly about the world, it felt like fantasy but with modern stuff? However i wasn’t dwelling on this, because the plot and characters were keeping me on edge every time. I do need to read the books about Alaine and Dax so i get to understand him a bit more because some of his actions were not making sense.

And caleb, caleb, caleb, you created the mess and i was enjoying your misery after what you did to Jay, but i was still rooting for you!

Overall, absolutely amazing!

ALC Review 🎧

CJ has done it again 👏👏 Caleb and Jay..damn they stole my heart. True enemies to lovers while being fated mates…emotional & so hot. Caleb is such a fierce and protective MMC. He would sacrifice every thing to make sure Jay is safe and taken care of. Jay is such a badass FMC who can take care of herself but with Calebs love and the way he supports her..they are truly such a powerful dynamic together. The story was so well written, the plot kept me intrigued the whole time and the narrators took the epic story even further. Absolutely loved and devoured this one!

“...if the world is still standing, you’ll know I’m not done fighting, because I’d burn it all down for you.”

♡☆♡---Beta Review---☆♡☆

Even as a beta read, this book absolutely blew me away. I was already a fan of this world from the first two books, but Prey for Me took the emotional depth and character growth to another level. Jay and Caleb’s story was powerful, heartbreaking, and healing all at once. Jay’s past as a pup shattered my heart, yet I admired her resilience and the strength she built from her pain. She’s fierce, stubborn, and unapologetically herself: everything I love in a heroine.

“If I dived into you, I’d be buried in hell. I’d burn just as much as you’re burning for me.”

One of my favorite aspects was how the fated mates element didn’t overshadow the rest of their story. Their relationship wasn’t easy or instant; it had to be earned. Caleb didn’t just forgive Jay immediately, and Jay didn’t let him bulldoze her without standing her ground. Their tension, growth, and eventual understanding made their connection so much more meaningful.

“We each carry pieces with sharp corners and jagged edges that can’t fit most places, no matter how hard we’ve tried.”

I especially loved Caleb’s development as he learned what it truly meant to be both a leader and a partner. His journey to balance strength with vulnerability felt very authentic. The theme of learning to lean on others also added to the emotional depth of their story. Both Jay and Caleb had to unlearn the belief that dependence equates to weakness, and watching them find strength in trust was really moving.

“In here, I am your god.”

This story had a bit less spice than I expected given its length, but what we did get was HOT. The tension, emotion, and connection made every moment count, and I honestly didn’t mind the lower heat level because the plot was so strong. The storyline itself was compelling, full of foreshadowing and setup for future books that has me eager for what’s next.

“I’m a nice guy, but I am the wrong wolf to mess with.”

I adored seeing familiar faces again; Sam’s humor was the perfect touch of levity, and the lingering Dax-Caleb tension was handled so perfectly in character that I couldn’t help but grin every time they shared a scene. While this book could be read as a standalone, I wouldn’t recommend it. The emotional weight of Jay and Caleb’s story hits so much harder if you’ve read Come for Me Parts I & II first. Overall, this was a beautifully written, emotionally charged continuation of a series that keeps getting stronger. CJ’s world-building and character work continue to impress me, and I cannot wait to see where she takes this series next.

Prey for Me is the third installment of The Hunt Series by C.J. Sweet…An absolutely brilliant, unique and unforgettable dark romantasy. And, I loved every single second!

This book was everything I wanted and so much more. I must admit it took me a minute to get into the story, but now, I am hooked! I loved the backstory, the characters and the evolving narrative… purely brilliant from this amazing author.

The storyline revolves around a fated mates narrative and our MCs are performed by Corvin King and Lucy Rivers. A perfectly balanced duo for these well crafted and complex characters! Joe Arden and Andi Eloise portrayed many of the supporting characters with phenomenal chemistry that made the whole audio experience truly spectacular… I just want to listen to it again and again!

The Superbly designed plot is beautifully crafted and written with amazing and creative talent by C.J. Absolutely incredible world building… I am excited to see what she does next!

Caleb, is performed by Corvin King and he embodies his character perfectly. Giving him the alpha dominance and the quiet vulnerability of self doubt! He is a complex, morally grey, swoon worthy character that I adore!

Jay, is performed by Lucy Rivers. This might be one of my favorite performances of hers. She was incredible as Jay, her inner dialogue, self doubt, tragic past and strength were captured perfectly! She is able to dig deep and has given us a truly amazing performance!

Joe Arden, is unmatched in his ability to make each character he plays consistently compelling and emotionally complex. Utter perfection with every single character he voices… bravo, Joe!
Andi Eloise, well, this lady is fast becoming one of my absolute favorite voice actors! She is so versatile and able to make each character completely unique and utterly compelling. She has an incredible talent that is just phenomenal.

I could literally listen to each of these amazing voice actors all day, every day! They brought all the feels to this brilliant audiobook!!

We have it all… a compelling, engaging narrative. An epic fated mates love story. Brilliant spice and banter. Unexpected twists and exciting moments. Fantastic and well crafted characters with great energy and emotional depth. Werewolves, witches, sirens and many other magical creatures! Flashbacks and trauma. Electric chemistry and magical dynamics.

🎧 Immersive Reader Review = Audiobook + eBook 🎧

I enjoyed reading the story of Jay and Caleb but the audiobook definitely brought it to the next level with the amazing multi cast duet narration.

Jay was my favorite character with how strong she was and how much she was able to survive and keep going while still remaining such a light to people and being kind. She was definitely a survivor and a kick@ss FMC who could go on with her life no matter the obstacles. I like the layers that she had in this book. She definitely struggled with her mental health and the demons of her past and she was dealing with it the best way she could.

I got an advanced copy of this audiobook and realized that I would understand more if I listened/read book 1 & 2 first even though it is about a different couple. I had mixed feelings after book 1 & 2 since I liked book 1 but not book 2 as much. Then I did book 3 and was surprised because Caleb was totally different from how he was portrayed in book 1 & 2! In those 2 books, he was seen as sort of the sweet boy next door that Alaina was friend with and lost her v!rginity to. There was definitely nothing about him liking to inflict pain so the sad!st k!nk and personality change in book 3 was definitely surprising. So just keep that in mind if you loved Caleb in book 1 & 2.

If you go blindly in book 3 without reading/listening to book 1 & 2 then I feel like you will be missing a lot of plot stuff related to Caleb but mostly about Dax & Alaina (the main couple of book 1 & 2) plus the big battle with Collin and stuff but you could still sort of understand but not sure I would recommend it.

When it comes to the story, I did enjoy it but I do feel like the pacing was off since it was slow and then the end feels rushed with everything sort of being answered but not really. I do feel like there was multiple plot holes and things that weren't explained much or just didn't make sense. One thing that bothered me is that Caleb told Dax that Jay was his mate when she was in the dungeon around 1/3 of the book but then later in the story when all the drama is happening toward the end, it shows Dax finding out that Jay is Caleb's mate which makes no sense to me since he already was told. So definitely a few littles things like that bothered me.

🎧 However the audiobook was amazing since we had Corvin King, Lucy Rivers, Andi Eloise and Joe Arden as the narrators in duet narration! Corvin King did an amazing job portraying Caleb and was one of the main reason I was able to finish the book.

I think I might be in the minority when it comes to this series and rating it around 3 to 4 ⭐ but I still enjoyed listening to the audiobooks because the narrators are all so good at playing the characters and bringing them to life!

ALC Review

This story is the other side of the bridge of CJ Sweet’s The Hunt Series. With the first two (Come For Me 1&2) being must-listens. This third book is not a standalone.

Prey For Me felt like returning to a familiar world while being simultaneously thrust into a new one. Familiar characters, who are prominent throughout the first two stories, reprise their roles in the hierarchy. At the heart of it all is a grieving son and a lone rogue whose traumatic past has molded her into a vessel of anger and exemplary warrior energy — all in the name of survival.

Jay, our FMC, is portrayed poetically by Lucy Rivers. Her characterization felt ethereally gritty — a woman and wolf shaped by loss and a mountain of trauma. Lucy’s emotional range as Jay had me genuinely invested in her journey; she is steadfast to protect the pieces of her existence that are still so meaningful to her. Her acceptance of her fate is such a tragic feeling, and moreover, her lack of knowledge of her own personal history tugged at my heart. The level of grief she experiences from the outset is unsettling.

Yet, Lucy gives Jay her power and strength as a worthy advisary — she challenges Caleb at every turn. And when she owns her sensuality? Lucy is an audio seductress.

Corvin King, as Caleb, is such a great example of the stoic leader who, very guardedly, lets the walls down just for her. Corvin’s performance is vast — capturing Caleb’s grief and desire for accountability, while simultaneously lending his voice to Caleb’s primal and dominant sexual connection to Jay. Caleb grapples with all of this inner turmoil, and Corvin is a master at switching from sinful to soft.

Caleb’s character growth was my favorite to watch.

Andi Eloise and Joe Arden round out the cast, returning as their main character roles in Come For Me 1&2. They also reprised character roles for secondary character favorites like Sam and Taya. They really helped create a dynamic vocal landscape for this story.

Prey For Me deserved all the time and energy the author breathed into it — I followed along on KU for most of the story and the intimate scenes are especially well-timed (its a slow-burn) and scripted immaculately.

And deliciously.

If you haven’t read the first two, please do. This is not an area of romance I hang around in often, and I felt that the world building and nuances of this genre were easy for me to wrap my brain around, while also keeping my imagination in flight.

Prey For Me by CJ Sweet

Format: Audiobook
Narrators: Lucy Rivers, Corvin King, Andi Eloise, and Joe Arden

Non-Spoiler Review
CJ takes us back into Pack Life with this one, and all I can say is, it’s so good to be back. Phenomenally performed, and with a full cast in duet by Lucy Rivers, Corvin King, Andi Eloise and Joe Arden. Each voice actor brought incredible talents that skyrocketed this audio to the next level.

In this installment, we get Caleb and Jay’s story. He’s kind of a spoiled, mama’s boy at first, but trust the process. He becomes the wolf he’s destined to be, and it was something amazing to see. Jay is a sweet rouge wolf that unfortunately killed Caleb’s father. Calm down, it’s not a spoiler. This is literally said in the synopsis. The enemies-to-lovers- yet fated mates’ trope gave an interesting twist to this addition. I fell in love with the way these two fell in love. The Moon Goddess has jokes, but she knows what she’s doing. It was an uphill battle, and nothing came easily, but in the end, it was all worth it.

I absolutely adored Jay. She was a total badass that could physically and mentally take on most of the wolves, but she didn’t want that kind of life. She was sweet and caring and only wanted to live in peace with the few people she loved. Caleb was a little different in that aspect, but he had the best character growth, and as the story progressed, he started to adapt to his future position as a pack leader.

Prey For Me was a fast-paced shifter romance that had banter, intriguing characters, spice, forgiveness, an emotional backstory, and characters from past books we adore. I giggled and blushed all while falling in love with our two newest fated mates. Emotions. Violence. Passion. Forgiveness. Everything needed to make their journey one to remember. The audio format is a must to get that full Pack Life experience. I absolutely adored this audio!

Thank you, Blue Nose, for the ALC

Prey for Me by @cjsweet.author had me in a CHOKEHOLD! 😩🔥

This is book 3 in The Hunt series and I’m going to be honest, I haven’t read books 1 & 2. BUT @cjsweet.author did such an incredible job covering enough backstory that I never felt lost or like I was missing anything. I love when an author can do that without making it feel like an info dump. That said, I know books 1 & 2 would give even more depth so they’re going straight to my TBR!

This story follows Jay, a rogue wolf shifter whose rogue “pack” attacked the Bloodhound pack. She’s captured by the Bloodhounds and placed under the supervision of Caleb, the upcoming alpha. And the TENSION between these two?! I was NOT ready. The yearning, the push and pull, the fact that they have to genuinely EARN each other, I was eating it up! 🐺🖤

Jay’s transformation and growth throughout this book was absolutely beautiful. She’s dealt with a lot of trauma, please be aware of that going in, but despite everything, she learns to become open and loving. And she’s stubborn and SASSY which you know I love! Caleb is trying to figure out what kind of alpha he’s going to be and watching how Jay changes him? AMAZING. Not only is this packed with love and romance but the action and additional storylines kept me completely hooked!

Now let’s talk about this audiobook because LISTEN. 🎧 This was duet narration with @corvin.king as Caleb and @akalucyrivers as Jay and they absolutely CRUSHED it. We also get @therealjoearden and @andieloisevoice voicing the other characters and they all did an incredible job bringing this world to life. And you KNOW I’m a sucker for @corvin.king, this man makes me weak at the knees every single time. I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook! 🥹🔥

Thank you to @bluenoseaudio for the gifted ALC in return for an honest review! 💜
Add this to your TBR RIGHT NOW, whether you start at book 1 or jump in at book 3 like me, you will NOT regret it! 🐺🔥

I really do love CJ Sweet’s books at this point. The Hunt series became one of my absolute favorites through the audiobooks, and Prey for Me was no exception.

First of all, the narrators? INCREDIBLE. Legitimately some of the biggest reasons this series hits so hard for me emotionally. I was so locked into this audiobook that people would literally try talking to me and I’d just zone straight back into the story like my soul had already left the building.

And Caleb???

EXCUSE ME SIR.

Where the hell was THIS version of Caleb in books one and two?
I mean… maybe the whole “my mate killed my father” thing adds a little extra spice to the situation but HOT DAMN.

This book was honestly insane in the best and worst ways simultaneously.

And I say that because I know this installment is going to divide readers. I can already feel the discourse coming because some choices made here are BOLD. There are definitely going to be fans who absolutely hate the direction certain things went.

But personally? I was able to separate things enough to really enjoy the chaos—probably because there had been a decent amount of time between me listening to books one and two and picking this one up. That little bit of distance honestly helped me process the emotional whiplash better.

Jay’s character also worked really well for me. Her guilt, survival instincts, trauma, and constant expectation of punishment added a really heavy emotional layer underneath all the mate-bond tension. The dynamic between her and Caleb is toxic, emotional, messy, intense, and weirdly addictive to watch unfold.

Overall, this was one of those audiobooks that completely consumed my attention. It’s dramatic, emotional, frustrating, addictive, and absolutely unhinged at times—but somehow it WORKED for me. I’m fully here for whatever CJ Sweet does next because apparently I enjoy emotional suffering wrapped in wolf drama now.

You really need to listen/read the first two books to fully understand this story.
I listened and reviewed the audiobook. I’m an audiobook whore and would rather listen than read if possible. This audiobook is narrated by Corvin King & Lucy Rivers. It has appearances of Andi Eloise and Joe Arden! (lemme just say: I was obsessed with Joe voicing Dax! Dax was an absolutely amazing character). I loved the narrators in this one! They did a phenomenal job!
I honestly felt bad for Caleb’s character in the first two books. He really did like Alaina. They were friends with benefits for years! In the first two books, Caleb was more sweet/caring but in his story — he definitely changed. I would assume it’s because of his fathers death. Jay is considered a low life rogue, while Caleb is the next Alpha to the bloodhound pack, seeking revenge. Jay was the one to kill his dad. He took her prisoner to avenge his father. Caleb also finds out she is his mate the minute she kills his dad, and he decided not to share that knowledge. Instead, he brought her home and locked her in a cage. It took me FOREVER to get into this story.. I had to force myself to finish listening. Yes, Caleb wants revenge but after forty chapters— it kinda got old. I was honestly disappointed 😔 in this book. It wasn’t for me. It’s not spicy like the first one. I believe there’s only 2-3 scenes if that. This had a lot of potential to go many different ways.

Prey was a masterclass in slow burn storytelling. From the very first chapter to the final moments, the tension simmered instead of exploded—and that made the payoff even more satisfying. The buildup was deliberate, intense, and absolutely phenomenal.
One of the biggest strengths of this book is how confidently it leans into the fated mates trope. There’s no rushing, no instant gratification—just a steady pull between characters that feels unavoidable and instinctual. The close proximity only heightens that tension, forcing emotions, instincts, and desires to the surface in a way that feels raw and authentic.
I especially loved the “do what you want and ask questions later” energy that runs through the story. The characters aren’t interested in following rules or meeting expectations—they go against the norm, trust their gut, and deal with consequences afterward. That rebellious, unapologetic vibe made the story feel powerful and immersive, like you’re watching something dangerous and inevitable unfold in real time.
The romance is intense but not fluffy, driven more by instinct and choice than hesitation. Every interaction feels weighted, every moment deliberate. The slow burn never drags—it builds, tightening the tension page after page until you realize how deeply invested you’ve become.
Prey is the kind of book that proves you don’t need constant action to stay hooked. It’s atmospheric, emotional, and confident in its pacing. If you love fated mates, forbidden tension, close-proximity dynamics, and characters who refuse to play by the rules, this story delivers from beginning to end.

Prey for Me by CJ Sweet is, without question, my favorite fated mates read EVER.

This is enemies to lovers at its absolute finest. Not the soft, instant-love version of fated mates where everyone just accepts the bond and moves on. No. These characters have every reason to hate each other at the beginning, and that is exactly what makes this book so addictive.

The MMC is dark, grieving, depraved, and angry in a way that makes complete sense once you understand him. The FMC has done everything she can to survive circumstances she never deserved, and through no fault of her own, she ends up in a situation that forces these two into each other’s orbit in the most intense way.

And that is what makes the fated mates aspect so good. They do not just fall into love because fate says so. They have to fight for it. They have to work through pain, mistrust, attraction, anger, and the messy pull between them. If you are someone who has never loved fated mates because it can feel too instant, this is the book I would hand you and say, “Try this one.”

The spice is dark, depraved, totally unpredictable, and absolutely scorching. The emotional pieces are just as strong. The tension and the way these two characters unravel and rebuild around each other... I loved every second.

Not enough stars exist for this book. CJ Sweet created something unforgettable.

This was such an emotional ride.
Prey for Me gave me everything I want in a paranormal shifter romance — tension, pain, growth, and a really satisfying payoff at the end.
Jay is not your typical heroine. She’s complex, a survivor, and not always easy to understand at first, but once you start seeing where she’s coming from, everything about her just clicks. I loved watching her grow into her strength.
And Caleb… yeah, he made me mad at times. Like, really mad. But his journey from making the wrong choices to actually stepping up and owning them felt real. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked.
I also loved seeing familiar faces again — Dax, Alaina, Sam and Taya. It really adds to the world and makes everything feel connected.
This book made me feel a lot. I got emotional, I was frustrated, I wanted to shake some characters… and also hug them. Especially Jay.
One thing I really want to highlight is how C.J. Sweet handles difficult themes. There are heavy moments, but they’re written with care. It never felt gratuitous — everything served a purpose, and you can feel the respect behind the writing.
And I have to mention the narration because it made a big difference for me. Lucy Rivers and Corvin King absolutely nailed Jay and Caleb — their performance carried so much emotion, especially in the heavier scenes. And having Joe Arden and Andi Eloise back as Dax and Alaina, along with the secondary characters, made the world feel even richer and more connected. The whole cast was truly fantastic.
I also really enjoyed Tyler in this book. He surprised me in the best way, and honestly, I really hope we get his story in the future.

I was so excited to dive back into the Hunt Series, and this audiobook completely pulled me right back into the chaos and emotion of this world.

The tension between Jay and Caleb is intense right from the beginning. There’s so much anger, attraction, history, and emotional baggage between them that every scene felt charged.

Jay easily stole the show for me. She’s strong, resilient, and honestly one of my favorite kinds of FMCs to read about. I loved learning more about her past because it added so much depth to who she is and why she reacts the way she does. Caleb frustrated me more than once, but I think that’s what made his character arc work so well. Watching him spiral, mess up, and slowly face the person he needed to become kept me hooked.

Lucy Rivers and Corvin King both did such a great job bringing these characters to life. They really captured the emotional push and pull between Jay and Caleb perfectly. It was also so fun hearing Andi Eloise and Joe Arden return for the side characters because the full cast worked really well together.

If you haven’t started this series yet and love dark paranormal romance with fated mate tension, emotional healing, and a top-notch audio cast, definitely give this one a listen. I do highly recommend listening to Come for Me Parts 1 & 2 first though because there’s so much history tied into this story, and I think the emotional moments hit harder when you already know the full background going in.

Overall Thoughts: Prey for Me was the perfect book I needed to get out of my slide into a book slump. I’ve listened to a lot of good books, but there were too many similar tropes or story lines, and I needed something different and this book delivered. Diving back into this PNR work with wolf shifters and wolf/vamp hybrids was refreshing and engaging. A true enemies-to-lovers trope with real issues to overcome. CJ was able to engage the listener and elevate to a level that made this different from many of the books I’ve finished in this genre. Lucy was able to bring both a fierceness and a naiveté to Jay that was endearing and refreshing. Corvin brought so much emotion, and drama to Caleb, it juxtaposed nicely against Lucy, and that growl had me swooning. Andi lent her talents to several secondary charaters, but her portrayal of Luna Kathy was spot on, while Joe, was a chameleon with playing the Beta, the King and other secondary male characters.

Narration: Multi-cast, duet narration, first-person present tense, dual-POV with flashbacks

Tropes: Wolf shifter, OTTP, alphahole, OM and OW drama, vampires, secrets about her past, she unalived his father, orphaned FMC, traumatic past, tr@fficing (past but described), fighting, self-h@rm, “Mine”, resistant to the relationship, fated mates, enemies-to-lovers, miscommunication, betrayal

Overall: 4.5
Spice: 3
Humor: 1.5
Drama: 3.5
Darkness: 2.5
Narration: 5

Jay is taken prisoner by the pack her rogue herd attacked, what makes it worse is she unintentionally k!lled the alpha father of the wolf who captures her. To complicate matters, she is also his fated mate.

Caleb wants nothing more than to make Jay suffer for unaliving his father and essentially destroying his mother. Spring-boarding him into his destiny as the pack alpha but needing a mate to ascend.

Jay and Caleb continue to circle each other, Jay not understanding the push and pull she feels, while Caleb continues to fight it. Can Caleb overcome the actions of Jay’s past to become the alpha his pack needs or will his need for revenge put all of them in danger?

I loved this one. Fated Mates but sprinkle in trauma and resentment!? Yes, immediately sign me up. The push and pull in this book was perfection. The enemies to lovers and the slow burn were done in the best way. And shifters are my favorite. I also adored the way mental health is represented in these books. Beautifully done all the way around.

Caleb and Jay have so much to overcome in this book. Their growth was amazing. They held my attention from the very beginning. I couldn’t wait to see how they would achieve a HEA, and C.J. Absolutely delivered this story in the best way.

If you loved Come for Me Part 1 & 2, then you have absolutely got to pick up this audiobook.

And as an audiobook?? 🔥 🔥

The chemistry in this audiobook was insane! Not just physical chemistry either… The tension lived in the pauses, the conversations, the possessiveness, the emotional unraveling, and the moments where you could feel the power dynamics shifting underneath everything being said.

I went into this book completely blind and ended up really enjoying it! The story follows Jay, a rogue wolf shifter with a brutal past, and Caleb, the future alpha of a powerful pack whose life collides with hers in the most chaotic way possible. What starts as revenge slowly turns into something way more emotionally complicated, intense, and vulnerable than I expected.

I’m usually not into the whole master/slave dynamic, but somehow this worked for me. CJ Sweet writes women so beautifully. Jay felt strong without losing her softness, and I loved that even through all the fantasy, action, and spice, the emotional healing still felt like the center of the story.

And listen… that ONE bowl scene? My jaw was literally on the floor!!!

I absolutely loved it

It was everything. I had high hopes going into this book and C.J. absolutely delivered.

I’ve loved Caleb since the earlier books and always felt like there was more to his story - so I was so glad he finally got his own book.

Jay is such a beautifully written character. Her past is heartbreaking - she was trafficked as a child, forced to fight against her will and eventually becoming a rogue to escape that life. The trauma she carries and the strength she shows makes you want her to have something good happen to her.

Events from book two follow her into this story adding even more emotional weight.
Caleb knows she’s his fated mate but their connection is anything but easy. He fights it hard especially because of her involvement in what happened to his father. The tension between them is so good and angsty, emotional, and completely consuming.

This book has everything I love:
* Enemies to lovers
* Slow burn
* High tension
* Found family
* Forgiveness and healing

Being back with everyone—King Dax, Alaina, Sam, and Taya—just made it even better. It felt like coming home or having a family reunion.
This book was emotional, intense, and so satisfying.

This book got the easiest 5 stars from me.

I swear Caleb has officially ruined me for other men because WOW. Obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover it. The way he loves, protects, and completely claims Jay had me hooked from the very beginning. And Jay? She is an absolute badass. Strong, fearless, and more than capable of holding her own, which made their chemistry even more addictive.

This book had everything I love in a dark romance, tension that keeps building until you’re practically screaming for them to give in, spice that was absolutely chef’s kiss, and a relationship that felt intense in the best possible way. Watching their connection grow throughout the story was honestly my favorite part. Every interaction between them had so much emotion behind it, and I could not get enough.

The pacing of the romance was perfection, the passion was insane, and the emotional pull between these two characters had me completely invested from start to finish. This is one of those books that pulls you in so hard that suddenly it’s 2 a.m. and you’re telling yourself “just one more chapter” for the fifteenth time.

CJ Sweet absolutely delivered with this one and I already know Caleb is going to live rent free in my head for a very long time. 🔥📚

This is book 3 in The Hunt series and it was perfection!

This is a dark paranormal romance with fated mates, enemies-to-lovers tension, possessive MMC energy and a strong AF FMC!

The FMC is a rogue who has a dark past that shaped her into the badass she is. Her story is such a sad one that I found myself getting teary eyed during flash backs. Her gentleness despite all she went through was admirable and made her that much more lovable. The MMC is the next alpha of his pack. He’s dealing with grief while still trying to lead. He’s dominant, protective of his pack and prioritizes his duties over his personal feelings/desires. The way this man was a predator fully stalking his prey🤣 🤩. He was so down bad for the FMC without even realizing it! The chemistry between them felt consuming, sometimes volatile and most definitely impossible to ignore. I loved seeing the yearning!!!!

Umm the spice?? 😮‍💨🥵 I loved the master/slave vibes and then the absolute FIRE that erupted when they finally had their “fck it moment” 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Lucy, Corvin, Andi and Joe were perfection and made this story even more enjoyable. Top tier casting!

If you love dark paranormal romance, possessive MMCs, badass FMCs, predator/prey vibes and fated mate goodness…this one absolutely delivers 🖤

~Duet Multi-Cast Narration~Lucy Rivers~Andi Eloise~Corvin King ~Joe Arden~

~Production~Blue Nose Audio~

"Alright, remember. You are not your trauma. What happened to you is only one chapter, not the whole story. Your issues are part of you but not all of you. You are a survivor who fought because you refused to let that be your ending."

♡After meeting Caleb in books 1 & 2 of this series I have been not so patiently waiting for his story & my gosh did C.J. freaking deliver! I loved Caleb & Jay so much & getting glimpses of the characters we have previously met was an added bonus. This book was a rollercoaster ride that I would have happily remained on for eternity!

The duet multi-cast narration for this audiobook was outstanding! Lucy, Andi, Corvin, & Joe all deserve a standing ovation for bringing this absolute masterpiece & it's characters to life in a goosebump inducing performance! I'm so excited to see what C.J. has planned for the future!♡

~As Always Happy Reading~
