What Happened?

I loved Mina’s books which is why I’ve been following Raven’s. From book 1 I knew I wasn’t going to like her as much but I still liked the story. The buildup, plot, and characters were still great. I would not really consider Raven “warm” but she still had emotions, so did the MMC’s. But this book? There was no warmth, no real affection. It just seemed so cold and clinical. The buildup of the battles and war is great. But every chapter/pov was so stiff. There was no change in behavior or personalities when the POV changed to someone else. The book “felt” 3rd person, if that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♀️. There were more descriptions of how someone else presented themselves and hardly any actual on page conversations. Also, where was the spice? 😭 This does not mean the author did a terrible job, she’s an amazing writer. Am I disappointed in the book? Yes, sorry. BUT that is just my opinion, I would still recommend the series regardless and I will continue to read the rest of the series when published.

Raven really is following in her mother's footsteps. Building a family, creating a territory for the ages, and utilizing the academy the best she can. That also includes enemies hidden in the shadows. Although they aren't hidden so much anymore.


The moment I've been waiting for is here. The Purge. Serenity did a great job building up the tension leading up to the event. The anticipation almost killed me; I was so excited. I love it when the MFC shows her enemies who's boss. The Purge was good, and I enjoyed every minute. Things didn't go exactly as expected, like much of this book. Family, allies, betrayal, and the twists are what made this a fantastic read. Enemies get named. One enemy was revealed, and talk about a plot twist. He was a problem I didn't even realize they needed an answer to. I do wonder what it means for the final book. I also enjoyed the expansion on this world. Seeing two other rulers in their own territories was interesting. King Therun was different than I would have expected, while Queen Giselle's territory is very much a wonder. A sanctuary for all creatures who need it, it's impressive.


Raven's Fight was all kinds of entertaining. It really showcased the tight bond Raven has with her family and nest (Nova was absolutely adorable), how amazing she is as a leader, and how steady her flight is. There's only one book left before it all ends; I'm looking forward to reading Raven's Peace.

Raven's Fight is book three in the Dragonis Academy The Second Generation Series. It is a why choose, fated mates, dragon shifter, academy romance. The story is told in first person with multiple pov.

It's another harrowing year for Raven and her mates. The strength that Raven shows throughout all the challenges that she must face, and how she ultimately triumphs, is amazing. I loved the action, the danger, the emotion, the mystery, and the intrigue in this book.

I honestly cannot get enough of Raven, her family, and their story. The writing, pace, flow, and plot of the story were fantastic, as were the characters, storyline, character development, storytelling, relationship development, and world building. I am absolutely loving this series and am very excited to see what will come next.

I am a true fan of this series. I fell in love with Mina and her men in the first generation, but her daughter Raven takes things up a notch in a good way. I thought Mina was a BEAST, but Raven is the G.O.A.T. She is fierce, strategic, nurturing and an all-around protector. Raven is following in some big shoes being the daughter or Mina and Thagulor but she is crushing any and every obstacle that stands in her way.

In true Dragonis Academy fashion we are gearing up for battle and Raven will need to be on her A game because she is not only facing her own enemies but also enemies of her mother but if there is anyone who can achieve the impossible; Raven is the one.

I cannot wait until the final showdown and watch Raven crush her enemies and claim her rightful place as Heir Apparent. I'm also very interested in seeing what her 2-year-old daughter Nova will achieve.

I really enjoyed the focus on the plot and the family dynamics for Raven's nest in Blackhaven. There was no spicy scenes, it was just quiet, domestic moments of bonding which I loved between the action of the plot. I'm enjoying how the bigger plot spanning from Mina's story into Raven's has expanded to the bigger threat facing the dragon flights and the actions leading to take back their own fate. Little Nova just gets cuter each time she appears on page and definitely has the right attitude for a future ruler. I hope we get to see more of Isolde and Charon in the future in detail rather than from a background pov. I liked the tactics of the purge scene and how Finley had to deal with an old friend.

Looking forward to the next book to see how the plot evolves more and to see what is in store for the Blackhaven nest!

This book left me very confused. While it progressed further into the story and filled in some of the past history that had not yet been revealed, it feels written without any emotion whatsoever. I had a rough time wanting to complete the book but did so, waiting for the emotion, but it remained very repetitive and dictational throughout the book.

There are points when Finlay doesn't even feel as if he is Raven's mate, it feels as if he is only her teacher. I feel like something was completely misplaced in this book. No emotion, no connect and no spice from the previous two books. While I have always loved reading for Serenity Raine, this doesn't match up with previous books.

My hope is the the next book is more of what we as the readers are used to from this writer.

Book three in Raven’s story and I absolutely loved this one. Year three at Dragonis all while balancing being a mom, the dominant dragoness, and a war that is looming. Serenity Rayne does such a wonderful job of creating strong female main characters that don’t back don’t to anyone. One of the things I loved in Raven Flight is you really get an expansion of the world that has been built, more than there ever has been before, with Raven and her mates journeying to different parts of this world. You also still continue to have the characters from her mother, Mina’s, story involved throughout and that truly makes you feel like you’ve lived in this world for years. Can’t wait to see what year four will bring.

She starts her third year at Dragonis Academy and must face not only the Purge but threats on her life as well not only from the students but the staff as well. She must gather alliances for the coming war and survive at all costs while raising her daughter Nova.

The fighting was exciting and the war scenes nearly ended me with anticipation. Tension, family, love, heartbreak, loss, allies, betrayal and more make this such a fantastic read. Such great world building and lovable characters that make you root for them till the end. I lost myself in the action, suspense, family bonds and dangers. Can’t wait for the next one to see how the war pans out!

This is the third book in the Dragonis Academy: The Second Generation. I love this series. Especially the series that started it all, Dragonis Academy. I love watching this second generation grow.
This family is incredible. I was so excited for the continuation of Raven’s story. Raven is an extraordinary dragoness. She is strong, smart and quiet. She is so quiet than when she does speak there is weight to her words. I love how she can multitask different conversations at the same time. I can barely hold a conversion while completing a small task without messing it up! She is phenomenal and surrounded by her loving mates and family.

Another great read!

There is such a serious depth to the characters and world in this series that you can't help but be dragged in as though you are there with them. The emotion, morality and love within these nests are above and beyond just a regular read, it's a journey that you take with them. A ride you do not want to end. I love this series and the original series, so far nothing has been lost in the progression of the stories, they just keep evolving with the same depth of character that keeps you invested in the outcome of all the characters, not just the main characters. I need more!

So much plot building happens in this book. The soft moments are there but not very often, so when you come across one, you appreciate it. More of the behind the scenes of the war and purge and all of that is what we get. I will say it took me a little longer to read this one than I thought it would because I had to really focus on what was taking place. I wasn’t really able to fully lose myself in the story. Some of my favorite moments in the book were Novas. She is unapologetically herself, even at such a young age. Reading about moments of her and Solaris together made my heart happy. I am curious to see how things get wrapped up in the next book.

This has been one of my favorite series over the last year. Serenity Rayne there's definitely a solidified herself as one of my top authors. The spot deliver just like the other two.

Raven has definitly stepped forward amd secired her place. The trials and challenges in this book definitely delivered. I was on the edge of my seat. Dragonis Academy is just one of those places I love revisiting over and over again.

Raven has so many people that she needs to just deal with. People in het own life and people from her mother's life. Yet, as always, our girl is up for the challenge. Oh and the Purge. Well, just get ready!

Sometimes, 2nd Generation series start to drag and I just stop loving them after the first book or two. Not this series. While it’s 2nd gen., it’s still building on the original story. That history and everything that occurred in the past influences Raven’s present and future. I’m already looking forward to my series re-read before the amazing conclusion to Raven’s journey.

Well, this book is the culmination of everything that Raven has been through in the past 3 years and Raven is still growing and developing. Is this the end of Raven's story? Not sure really, some things have been resolved but there is still work to do, maybe it will fall to Nova to deal with but I'd like for someone in that family to have a easier ride though adulthood!
I love the way all of Raven's guys have built their own relationship with her but also work so well together, and protect and love her so well.

OMG, what a read. From the minute that I started reading, I knew that I was hooked. This book grabbed me and would not let me go. No matter waht needed to get done, this book insisted that it be read and there was no putting it down until the last page was read. this book moves along at a pace that is perfect for the flow of the story which made for an easy and enjoyable read. You will love these characters and you feel as though you know them and you want to be there for them, no matter what. This book needs to be read, no doubt about it.

This was an excellent continuation to Raven's series. From the moment I started reading until the end, I was addicted!

Raven definitely has her hands full. She still manages to impress me though. She is strong, courageous, and intelligent. She also has a good heart.

There are enimies all around. Who can they trust too?. We get danger, suspense, betrayal, and twists. We also get some answers and things come to light.

As I said before, this was definitely and an excellent continuation. It left me excited and pumped for what's to come! I loved it!

So many things in this book. Year three is where Raven is for school. She is more advanced than most her age. She has her own flight, Corvus, Finlay, Hemlocke, Keir and Solaris and her daughter. This is the year of the Purge in school, where students can possible kill other students. She must come out alive. After the purge Raven has to deal with the war and Magnus. How she handles herself and her flight will help is she is the winner of the war. So many emotions, learning, parenting and having a flight along with a war. So much for a young girl to handle. Great read.

This is the 3rd book in Raven's series, and it was good. Raven has so much going on, and with the grace she handles it with, you would think she's twice her age. Her mates are all super supportive, but I have to say Corvus is my favorite. He simply knows her so well, he's able to anticipate her needs before she does. The war with Magnus was not what I was expecting, but I feel like there is still so many unanswered questions. Like, Nova and what she is, Amadeus and what happens next with him. Looking forward to what comes next.

The Purge and War

Year three is full of excitement and sanctioned danger as Dragonis Academy allows for student disputes to be settled through the Purge. However, it seems that Raven alone is the target this time around and rules are being breached. The plot converges revelations from the previous books into an electrifying outcome. Surviving this event only sets the stage for war with Magnus and it is only the beginning. I can't wait for the next book.

I love this series. In Raven's Fight you see the struggles Raven is up against and how her growth and leadship is worked out throughout her 23 years. She is strong, intelligent and knows when to lean on her mates and family for advice. She went through the purge with good insight. I might have killed more traitors but she is far more diplomatic. She traveled to several areas to win over the kingdoms with her diplomatic initiatives and won. She settle disputes between flights. She handle the war with good planning. It's not over, but I feel she will prevail.

Disappointed

Disappointed. I feel like this book was not at the same level as her others. It felt like the timeline didn’t alway match, some details mentioned and then either not mentioned again (like needing to go back and meet with Cassius before the purge - but we never hear about it, just that it must have happened) or completely contradicted. It also felt like the tone shifted from a story you are immersed in, to something being told in short not always linear bursts.

This is the 3rd book in Raven’s series and continues to deliver with the depth of its characters, world-building and all of the relationships. Every book so far resonates with the reader as you become so immersed in their journey! This 3rd installment is absolutely more war-focused, as others have mentioned, but it really showcases how much Raven has grown in the last couple of years. I really loved seeing a positive parental relationship and how Raven is so much like her parents. As far as academy books go, this is top-notch. I cannot wait for more!

All the planning in the world will not prepare anyone for Raven and her flight. With only 23 years under her belt she has made quite the impression amongst others. There are old feuds coming to a head this term. The Purge will showcase much more than we could have thought. There is so much packed in this year! And let's not forget our Nova who has a presence in her own right! This has me gearing up for the fourth term... I'm so ready!

What happened?

I really love this series and the first generation series. That being said, this book reads very differently to the first two. It feels flat. There's no emotion and hardly any dialogue. I honestly skimmed some of it because it seemed to drag. I'm not disappointed really because there is a lot of meat to the book, a lot of story development. I'm more concerned because the writing style is so different. Is the author alright? This isn't her usual writing.

I was looking forward to this book after devouring book 1 and 2 but this one was very bland. It felt like a formal documentation rather than a story. It lacks emotion - there is some but it isn't the same as the emotion in prior books. There are inconsistencies within the time line that makes this story confusing. The same lines are repeated over and over, the way the chapters end became annoying, and there parts that were out of place.

I can understand that a main character grows throughout a series, but this book has the feel of an entirely different writer. There is no romance in this book, the sentence structure is short and to the point with little description, and also with constant repetition. Like, I am now 1000% aware that Raven is 23 years old. Aside from all that, it was a very exciting book!

I have to pat myself in the back for finishing this one. It was not good. I don't remember the author writing style being like that in the prequel and this sequel. Who writes like that? It's so.... I don't know but it ain't fun to read. Like we all love that big war plot sure, but you add that writing style, 0 conversations, 0 smut. Just people in their head describing things in a sterile way. Painfull. I'll finish the series because I'm in too deep but jesus.
