The second Emerson Walker laid eyes on Dashiell Keller, he nearly lost control—in front of his twin brother, no less. Their explosive reaction to one another turns his life into a house of cards. After a lifetime spent carefully concealing who he really is, Emerson doesn’t need someone shattering the protections he’s put in place.
Alphas aren’t supposed to fall for other alphas.
Acting on their attraction could land them both behind bars. Distance is the only way to survive, but he has to know—how could another alpha cause what he’d felt?
When Emerson later shows up uninvited to Dash’s office to get those answers, they come even closer to crossing the line. Somehow, Dash finds the strength to demand Emerson leave—adding that he’s never to return.
No matter their attraction, they can’t tempt mutual destruction.
Months pass and Dash wishes he’d never made that demand. Never’s a really long time—especially when he can’t stop thinking about the dashing firefighter who makes him burn like no other.
When the pair come face-to-face in an illegal, underground nightclub, sparks fly once more and the desire they feel refuses to be denied. By the end of the night, they wind up in one another’s arms, but can they turn one night into a happy ending in a world where being together is illegal?
International bestselling Queer and MM romance author Kelex lives in Hampton Roads, Virginia with his daughter and senior chihuahua.
When not being a pain in his kidult’s ass or writing under various pen names...
Wait, who are we kidding? He's an indie author and always working.
He's got a plethora of artistic hobbies he doesn't enjoy often enough—unless you count stockpiling yarn, stained glass, baking paraphernalia, paints, canvasses, and books as independent hobbies themselves.
Alpha/Alpha MM romance is a unicorn in the omegaverse. I was thrilled to come across this book but was left disappointed.
Why?
Well, it turned out there is still not a single author who is capable of writing a true Alpha/Alpha pairing that portrays the dominant Alpha instinct/nature in both MCs.
This is a second novel that played the “twist” (same trick was done in “Unnatural” by Alessandra Hazard) where one alpha MC was *drum rolls* a hybrid alpha-omega! How original, right?
I knew instantly one Alpha MC was not a pure Alpha by reading how they reacted to each other: Alpha MC1: I want him under me Alpha MC2: I want to drop on my knees for him
Can you guess which one turned out to a hybrid? It was so bloody clear, even before the reveal, that he was partly omega.
The blurb misleadingly is advertising this as Alpha/Alpha which wasn’t exactly true to me (I know others can argue that technically he is sort of still Alpha).
At this point, I’m wondering what is the point of writing Alpha/Alpha dynamics if one Alpha is always made to have some omega component. Why, can’t both Alphas be 100% biologically Alpha and have that Alpha core personality? Is it so impossible to have two dominant, top male Alphas enter a believable romantic relationship?

It was so worth the wait! We waited for this book for a while and Kelex didn’t disappoint.
I have loved this whole series so much and to finally read Emerson’s story makes me so happy.
He deserved to have the love his brother had. A mate to love and the family he never thought he could have. Being attracted to alphas made it impossible for that to happen, but it did.
The moment he laid eyes on Dash, he was a goner. He didn’t understand what the sensation of being close to him was or why he’d never felt it before, but he knew he wanted Dash.
Dash fought his attraction to Emerson hard. He knew how dangerous it was to be attracted to another alpha. Yet he couldn’t stop his body and heart from wanting the sexy alpha. The more he fought it, the more his desire grew.
When an unexpected situation arises, Dash can’t hide his true identity anymore. Accepting that part of him was hard but he understood that it didn’t make him less of an alpha. It just meant he could be free to be himself.
I loved how Emerson made sure to tell him he had a choice to do whatever he wanted. He never imposed his feelings on Dash even if it broke Emerson’s heart in the process. He wanted Dash to have a choice to make his own decisions.
Emerson just wanted Dash to be happy in his own body. He just wanted to spend the rest of his life next to his mate and not be afraid that they could be arrested for loving each other.
I really hope we get the rest of the brothers. I’m so invested in this series. I want all of the Walker brothers’s stories 😅
Ya'll, I have been waiting for the next book in this series for a while and that wait was soooo worth it!!!
In Two Wild Hearts our MC's have a bit of a grumpy/grumpy vibe going on but they have every reason to be grumpy when those they are attracted to could end them up in jail, or worse. These two were explosive and dynamic and also had a push and pull that I loved! They didn't get together right away, there was so much tension between these two and even though in the beginning they didn't know each other or knew what the pull meant, they still respected each other and kept their boundaries...
Until Dash's new investigation lands him in the middle of an outlawed club during a raid with no escape... ((Cue Emerson saving the day!)
I really enjoyed reading this book, I thought the characters were fantastic and I adored seeing past characters make appearances throughout this story. I also enjoyed the investigations that were described throughout the story, I loved having all those little details and to have been taken on a journey as Dash tried to solve the massive case he was working on.
I'm not sure if there are more books planned for this universe but I would be very happy if there were some more! I just think this world is so unique and the twist on Alphas/Betas/Omegas/and now hybrids, is really interesting!!
Kelex never writes a bad book and Two Wild Hearts is just another amazing example. I have loved every instance with Em in the previous books and was so excited that he was next to get his HEA.
Em and Dash have to work so hard for their HEA. We saw their first meeting in Harrison’s book but then we get Em’s perspective of it & omg the tension is immediate. Then we fast forward to the present and these two have not stopped thinking about each other. Em and Dash are both alphas and it’s illegal for them to be together but thankfully for us, that doesn’t stop them. Both Em and Dash are struggling with things, similar things and also different issues they both have going on. I cried, A LOT, while reading their story. Kelex even mentioned that they ugly cried while reading and I should’ve prepared myself better. These two were so perfect together and this is dramatic, I know, but I feel like I’m never going to move on.
Everything about this story had what I’ve come to expect from Kelex. An incredibly emotionally moving story where you fall in love with the characters immediately and just want them to get to their HEA. But add in a little or a lot of pain along the way 😂 If you haven’t read a Kelex book, you need to! I am not afraid to beg!!
I was fortunate enough to be selected to read this book in advance, and what a joy it has been. I absolutely adore the universe and characters Kelex has created. This installment felt especially refreshing, focusing on an Alpha–Alpha pairing—a welcome shake-up for the series (and what a twist 👀).
Dash and Emerson’s story explores not only their relationship but also the legal and societal barriers they face as an AA pairing. There’s an underlying sense of taboo in their world that adds tension and depth, making their journey all the more compelling. The twist genuinely caught me off guard, offering a perspective I hadn’t considered before, which made the reading experience even more engaging.
My only minor quibble is that I would have loved a deeper dive into Dash’s ongoing investigation. While we were given glimpses throughout, it felt somewhat skimmed over toward the end. That said, I understand that this wasn’t the primary focus of their story. And if past Kelex books are anything to go by, I’m hopeful we’ll see that thread explored more in future installments 👀🤞🏻.
4.5 rounded up. Trying to keep this as spoiler free as possible.
- I always forget how much I love Kelex's writing style until I start to read the book, and then once I start its hard for me to put down.
- Although this was the 4th book in the series I didn't feel super lost and it read mostly like a standalone. It would probably more enjoyable to read the previous books.
-Some of the scene's were a little over the top but the author's note at the beginning stating he drew inspiration from soap opera's made me accept some of the dramatics easier and made my reading experience better.
- I don't typically care to follow series reading orders or read about side characters but the other characters were written well enough in this book that I want to go back and read the others to see what all I missed.
- I hope the author continues to write more and explore any changes made in the province due to the circumstances surrounding Dash.
Two Wild Hearts is the fourth book in the Alphas of the Western Provinces series. In my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Emerson and Dashiell (Dash). I loved the characters and world building that went into this book and series. I fell hard for these two. They had so much to work through. The blurb does a great job of letting you know what the story is about. There is so much emotion packed into this story. I love how Kelex brings the story and characters to life. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.
I've enjoyed every book in this series and in the larger world! This book has a unique spin on the A/B/O world. Without any spoilers, Emerson and Dash are two alphas who are attracted to each other in a province where it is illegal and can result in lifetime imprisonment. Still, the compulsion to be together is irresistibly strong - almost like a mating bond. The romance develops along the backdrop of missing alphas and arson investigations. I look forward to more from this world!
The case in this story is secondary but the issue with alpha alpha relationships is a big part of this story and is pretty similar to real life troubles for gay men. I loved this story and how this all played out. I won't give any spoilers but there is a little twist that is similar to some of Kelex's stories.
This book was so incredibly special - to meet your fated mate and to believe you can never be together is heartbreaking, but fate really did know what she was doing. Dash and Emerson have become my favorite couple in the series - to see them live their truth, out loud, is beautiful beyond words. So much heat layered onto such depth of emotion and love. Beautifully written story!
I literally sobbed my heart out with these two and it's been a while since a book has had that affect on me. This was beautiful, painfully heartbreaking and so lovely in the end. Em and Dash have so much to fight through, individually and together. They simply couldn't resist each other try as they might because it hurt too much to be apart.
Two Wild Hearts is the fourth book in the Alphas of the Western Provinces series and is best read in order. I loved reading this story about Dash and Emerson, it was such a fabulous story that I definitely recommend.
I was gonna give 5 stars until we actually reached the end with a 7-month pregnancy instead of a born baby. That's like a ruined orgasm. It was such a good story!!!! Then the author ends with just another day of pregnancy instead of a baby. I'm so frustrated....

This is a fabulous story and also heartbreaking due to the forbidden nature of their relationship. I loved all the twist and turns along with the surprises that come out.
Book 4 in the Alphas of the Western Provinces series. This was amazing so worth the wait. Kelex never misses.
Emerson and Dash were so good together. The minute they set eyes on each other they both feel the pull and attraction to one another but Alphas can’t be with alphas so they both try to keep distance. Until one night they come face to face again and they can’t deny what is happening anymore.
I loved this the connection between Emerson and Dash was so good. I really loved the trafficking elements. Great story and as always brilliant writing with a great flow
