4 Calling Past Event Stars

Glow is part of the Glimmer and Glow series. Glow concludes Dylan and Alice’s story. If you haven’t read Glimmer, don’t you fret, I won’t write any spoilers. Glimmer is the first book in the series and it focuses mostly on Dylan and Alice getting to know each other. I found Glimmer steamier and very adorable. I loved how Alice and Dylan meet and I love how standoffish Dylan was towards Alice.

Glow continues the story and it starts where Glimmer left off. As Alice and Dylan continue to work on the relationship, many things start to happen and it puts a strain on the couple. There are a lot of questions that come up towards Alice’s past. Some is revealed in Glimmer, but a lot will be exposed in Glow.

Glow is a bit more suspenseful, which I am a fan of and Glow has little angst, which I love as well. I like that the main storyline dealt with who Alice was and what she went through as a child. I love how Dylan is the alpha care-taker and his main objective was to protect Alice, at all cost.

“We’ll do it just like we’re going to do everything else. One day at a time.”

A lot of characters come to play and you will question who is true and who is foe. Even Dylan comes to question. Alice tries to focus mostly on the camp and the activities towards the kids, but it’s hard when she is in the middle of all the danger.

The chemistry between Alice and Dylan is undeniable. I’m surprised that Glow is tamer than Glimmer, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like the little moments between the main character and it really helped them grow closer together. Even though there’s plenty of crazy happening around them.

If you are a fan of the series and need your questions answered, then you will not be disappointed with Glow.

With every new release, I fall more and more in love with Beth Kery's writing. Her stories are always wrapped in layer upon layer of passion, emotion, and suspense. I don't know what I expected with GLOW, but it doesn't matter. I was VERY pleased with the flow and the ending of this book. It was wrapped up beautifully, but not without tons of scorching hot moments and high-octane, heart-pounding scenes in between!

Alice and Dylan's relationship is rocked by what Alice finally discovers in book 1, Glimmer. Alice pushes and Dylan pulls, and more conflicts and discoveries arise. Dylan wants nothing but to protect her, but when she goes against their arrangement, it becomes problematic and Dylan has to fight harder for the future he wants for himself and for Alice. There are so many twists and turns and GLOW is full of drama, sex, and suspense. More questions will arise in this final installment of the Glimmer and Glow series, but ALL of those answers will finally be revealed. Some will be shocked. Some will never see it coming, but rest assured the ending will completely satisfy you.

It was hard to say goodbye to this series and these characters. Beth Kery has a way of sucking you into the character's emotions, so you have no choice but to become emotionally invested in each and every one of them. I loved how the secondary characters came in to play a lot. I loved hearing about the kids at the camp and what their future held. All around, this was a sexy, captivating, and intriguing series - one that I will remember for a very long time. This author knows what her readers want, and she never disappoints, giving us page after page of sexy suspense that will follow you way after the last page has been read.

2.5 Way to drawn out stars!

Source: eARC for Honest Review Courtesy of Berkley | Penguin Group

When I first read Glimmer I though it was a standalone to only find out that it was in fact not.  Since I read Glimmer I needed to find out what happened with Alice and Dylan.  You need to have read Glimmer to fully understand what is happening with Glow as it is NOT a standalone. Now after reading Glow, I'm a bit disappointed.  You know when a movie is divided into two when it should have stayed as one because the movie was drawn out and dragged on and on causing a more negative reaction than positive. This is what happened to me while reading Glow.

Don't get me wrong when there was suspense I was curious and it was written well.  There was loads of passion and Beth Kery always does a fantastic job with that but the story as a whole felt never ending.  I kept reading it and reading it thinking when is this story going to end.  I would look to see how much time left on my kindle and it felt like it was stuck at two hours left forever.

While reading the story this is what I was getting from it . . . sex, 'am I Addie or not?, sex, 'will he like me if I'm not Addie?', sex, camp stuff, sex, camp stuff, sex, Kehoe hates Alice, sex, camp stuff, Addie/Alice stuff, sex, Addie/Alice, sex, sex, sex, insecurities, sex, Addie/Alice, sex, Dylan/Alice drama, sex, Addie/Alice, sex, Dylan/Alice drama, then at 72% I finally really got into it as the pivotal point of the suspense reached its peak, then once that was wrapped up Alice the heroine does my least favorite thing and runs while being a martyr.  Then some woe is me, some sex, some feel good stuff, more sex and then HEA.

Usually that combination would fall into the more sex than substance but this book doesn't quite fall into that category because when there was substance it was balanced out but the story felt WAY TOO LONG and too drawn out that I thought it was never going to end.

Did I like Dylan and Alice?  For the most part yes, but the story was just too drawn out that I was losing interest in them fast.  Did I hate this book?  No, it's not that I didn't like it, it was just the story didn't need to be so long and I believe would have been better as one book instead of two.  Would I read another book if Dylan and Alice were the main characters?  Sadly probably not.  Would I read more Beth Kery?  Absolutely.

Leigh's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I became infatuated with Dylan Fall in Glimmer, but I fell in love with him in Glow, the conclusion to the dark and mysterious story about an heiress, kidnapped as a child, who is brought back to claim her place in the corporate dynasty her family founded.

With her discovery that she may be the kidnapped heir to the Durand family, Alice’s life starts to snowball in a series of memories and revelations. She insists on completing her duties to her kids in her position as a counselor at Camp Durand by day, and meeting Dylan to spend her nights at the castle, owned by the controlling CEO.

Dylan is powerful and darkly seductive as the CEO of Durand Enterprises, and his position of power creates the taboo feel of a professor/student dynamic between him and Alice, which only adds to his overall appeal. Almost in a Fifty Shades sort of way, he is zealous in his affection for Alice, but there is something sinister about the story which makes the reader question whether Dylan’s motives are truly pure. It is this skepticism that kept me on edge for the entire book, wanting badly to believe that Dylan had Alice’s best interests at heart but still remaining open to the possibility that it was a darker motive behind his dominance over her.

I can’t fully explain the gothic feel of this book, which almost seemed like a ghost story, despite the fact that the characters were fully alive. I can only believe that it is due to the fact that Beth Kerry is a master at her craft, creating a story that is haunting, seductively erotic, and engrossing all at the same time. I didn’t want it to end, and I look forward to going back and reading everything else by this wonderful author.

I went in fully expecting to like Glow just as much as Glimmer. I'm sitting here disappointed that I can't say I enjoyed this book. There was something big missing for me.

Glimmer was a little different from other books I've read in this genre and that’s what initially drew me to the story. It was mysterious and almost spooky at times, but still had a storyline full of explosive chemistry.

Glow, on the other hand, was missing that intensity and intrigue the first book brought to the table. The storyline felt a little flat and honestly, kind of boring at times. I wasn't immersed in the story, instead I was counting down the pages until the end. This was a big miss for me.

Review originaly posted at link: The Bookpushers

Lou: It was with super excitement when I downloaded Glow from Netgalley. Has and I adored Glimmer (click here to read the review), which will probably feature on my best reads list of 2015. Glow is the sequel to Glimmer, where Alice finally learned the secrecy of her past and how she was kidnapped and lost all memories from the incident as a child.

Alice and Dylan are just as deeply attracted to one another as ever. Their romance and sexual attraction has to be one of the best sensual romances I’ve read in a long while. There’s just something about them that oozes passion and major sex appeal. While I enjoyed Glow, I did have a problem with the book and that was the length. Holy moly the length was way too long. This book could have been 200 odd pages and been a top A read for me. But instead it dragged on needlessly in so many scenes with lots of talk and not a lot of action, which disappointed me. The romance is still great but the suspense was super slow.

Has: I was also excited to read the follow-up to Glimmer because I really enjoyed the book and it was one of the highlights I read this year. I have to agree with you that I was slightly disappointed with the sequel and that was due to the pacing, especially in the middle which kind of dragged. However, the romance and tension between Alice and Dylan was sizzling and fraught with sexual chemistry and I think that helped to save the lag that I felt with the pace.

However, despite the slow pace in the middle half of the book, I did enjoy the uncovering of the mystery behind Alice’s past and dealing with her newfound identity as the missing heiress to the Durand fortune. Even though she finds herself facing a new identity and a powerful new role, I liked that Alice still struggled with the person that she is now. I also loved how Dylan remained supportive and dedicated to keeping her safe and allowing her to come to terms to the truth of her past.

Lou: Yes! The romance was still brilliant and I don’t think I could ever tire of reading about Alice and Dylan. That’s how engaged I am with them. I think I said it in my previous review but Beth Kery totally had shades of Linda Howard early vibes in this duology, which I freaking adored. The darkly possessive hero in Dylan was perfect. Alice’s independence was still strong against a man such as Dylan, but she was so much more vulnerable and confused in Glow. It’s only in their sexual relationship that she felt solid and sure, especially when she was in the dark with her memories as Addie. I also thought it eerie but also understandable why Alice thought of Addie as a different person to herself–a defense mechanism. Not only did Alice have to deal with her new identity, but she was also worried about her position in the camp and her future within the Durand company, even though she was the heir.

I just wished that a lot of this book was tighter so there wasn’t so much dragging in the middle. I thought the suspense part of the book could have been tighter too because when the baddie was revealed, it wasn’t exactly a huge surprise. I was also surprised about the revelation about her mother, which I wasn’t expecting at all–not with the picture Dylan painted of her parents in the first book.

Has: I really liked the surprise twist with her mother and we really got more of an insight into her family and how things weren’t really perfect and that her parents had flaws. It made it more realistic. I also didn’t have an issue with the overall suspense plot, but I think the lack of momentum in the middle didn’t really build up tension with that element of the book while the romance was very strong. I also thought the subplot with Thad and his feelings for Alice was a bit off and it kind of fizzled out when the other plot threads emerged.

However the real strength of the book was the romance between Dylan and Alice. The emotional and sexual elements of their relationship was fantastic and the love scenes were smoking hot which added to their chemistry. I can’t stress enough that Beth Kery is one of the best writers who can really combine these factors to create fantastic erotic romance with real depth.

Lou: Yeah, the side-plot with Thad did sizzle out and while he turned out to be a big character towards the end, I think there was too much happening in Glow that became distracting. The love scenes were amazeballs. I really need to go back and read more of Beth Kery’s previous books because I have obviously been missing out on some great erotic romance. Alice and Dylan’s relationship was rocky in places because Alice was so wary in trusting people, and she was unsure of herself in the world that she couldn’t fully trust Dylan. I was a little mad at Dylan for being angry and frustrated with Alice in the end because the poor woman had gone through so much trauma that if she needed space, then dammit man, let her have the space she wanted. The ending was perfect for these two characters, and I loved the ending where Alice got to meet up with her kids again. It really was a satisfying conclusion to a wonderful erotic romance.

I give Glow a B

Has: I so agree with you about Dylan being upset at Alice at the end when she needed space to understand the new developments in her life, but then he wouldn’t be a possessive alpha hero heh. While Glow wasn’t as strong as Glimmer, it does conclude Alice and Dylan’s story in a great way and even though we had issues with the pacing, the romance and the erotic aspects of the book was fantastic. But then I don’t think Kery can write a flat romance because she has a brilliant gift in writing erotic romance.

I also give Glow a B

••••••••••

REVIEW: 4.25 stars---GLOW is the second installment in Beth Kery’s contemporary, adult GLIMMER AND GLOW erotic, romantic suspense duology focusing on business grad student Alice Reed and billionaire Dylan Fall. Their continuing story begins to unravel the truth about Alice’s true identity; the missing years; and the people responsible for the path towards her future. GLOW should not be read as a stand alone as much of the storyline is dependent on the information revealed in book one-Glimmer.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dylan and Alice), as well as some flashback, dreamscapes, and journal entries GLOW focuses on Dylan and Alice’s building relationship, and the slow reveal about Alice’s past-her true heritage-and the family she never knew. As Alice continues to work with Durand Enterprises mentor program at Camp Durand, she struggles with her growing love for a man who knows more about Alice than Alice knows herself. Dylan was once a part of Alice’s life, years before, but Alice’s mind and memories are having a difficult time delineating fact from fiction; truth from lies. Everything about her relationship with Dylan is based upon trust-a trust that is fragile in the face of the truth, and the demons from her past.

GLOW is the culmination of a several weeks in the life of Dylan Fall, and Alice Reed. Alice was brought into Camp Durand under mysterious circumstances in an effort to determine the truth about her past. Alice is a sexy, intelligent and independent heroine whose life has been thrown into utter chaos when Dylan reveals that Alice is not who she believes she is.

All of the previous storyline characters return in secondary and supporting roles including the requisite evil whose relationship with Alice may be closer than anyone thinks. There are moments of heartbreak and pain, romance and love; letting go and moving forward.

The relationship between Dylan and Alice is highly sexual with numerous $ex scenes of graphic detail and description including some light spanking and anal play. Dylan is a man who has fallen for the woman he loved years before-in another life time before betrayal, fate and jealousy destroyed everything that he had.

GLOW is an erotic romance story of intrigue, mystery, and suspense. The twist and turns, revelations, and slow reveal of secrets will keep you reading until the very end. The premise is entertaining and imaginative; the characters are animated, delightful and intoxicating; the romance and happily ever after passionate, intense and beautiful. Beth Kery will captivate your imagination, and steal your breath with the powerful revelations in GLOW.

Glow by Beth Kery
Dylan & Alice Continued...
BANG... GO TEAM RED!!

So, this is the succeeding installment and conclusion in the Glimmer and Glow series. It was just as gripping if not more so than the initial book. I'll admit I didn't want to throw my kindle across the room so much with this one, but I did acquire the white knuckle syndrome a time or two. This one keeps you on your toes and maintains a constant "who done it" feel.

Alice is still one of my favorites. If I had to be one character from this book, it would be Alice. She's still as strong as ever and her demeanor never waivers. She's faced with so much turmoil and chaos that most people would have folded by now, but not her. Alice seems to be on a mission to find out who she is, where she belongs, and who she can trust along the way. She never once felt weak or pathetic to me in fact quite the opposite. This woman has charm, smarts, and a rockin' bod to boot. Love me some Alice Reed!

Dylan, I guess lightened up a bit in this one. He doesn't seem as mysterious and puzzling. He is however kind of a pain in the ass! At times I wish he would have revealed more than he does, but I guess that just made the story that much more interesting. He's still the CEO of Durand and he's still Alice's biggest advocate, but he still manages to piss me off a time or two. Dylan has his suspicions as to who the "bad guy" is but can't quite fit all the puzzle pieces together, this in itself frustrated me to no end.

The supporting characters cast is the pretty much the same as the first book. Thad, Brooke, Kuvi, and that SOB Sebastian. I reviewed the first book telling you that I hated Thad and Brooke and if they changed their ways I'd recant my earlier statement, well... I wouldn't say exactly that they miraculously turned into good peeps, but they seemed to "grow up" a bit and became more enjoyable characters to read about. As for Sebastian, I let you figure him out on your own. I know I wanted to throw that fucker off a cliff!

The storyline is very compelling. It's gripped me from the very beginning. The dialogue flowed yet the pacing was a little sluggish. I found myself skipping around at times just to read the conversations, but other than that, the tension and stress leading up the climax was pretty spot on.

My Review:
Glow really tied up the Glimmer Glow series for me and brought the characters and plot history that stalled out for me in the previous book and turned them around. There is a lot more to this book than I think a lot of people realize because you don't expect so much of the mystery depth to take over. There are plenty of character history and emotional turmoil that come into play for this one around more than the previous book which resulted in more talk and less participation but I think that was because Kery was trying to tie up so many loose ends. The result was an ending I wasn't quite expecting however I was happy with it as a whole in part to the series. Glow was a great read and should definitely be read with its previous installment.

I absolutely hate to say this because I loved book one, but Glow did not work for me. At all. I found it to be very slow paced and chalk full of things I didn’t care about as a reader. I had such high hopes because book one was so intense but Glow fizzled on all fronts.

Glimmer (book one) had a lot of suspense, a bit of action and a ton of mystery. Glow attempted to give readers more of that same magic but unfortunately what it ended up doing was boring me to death. I found myself skipping entire chapters hoping it would pick up the pace as Alice delved more deeply into her shadowy past and identity. Her need to know her past warred with her desire to block out everything and return to the safe bubble she’s been living in for years. Her stubborn personality grated on those around her and even Dylan at times yet she found herself the center of several guys attentions. Some sexual and some predatory. When scared or threatened she became childlike in nature instead of the ballsy, don’t give a damn, woman readers had seen up till this point. It was almost like a split personality disorder at times, yet just as quickly she’d be snapping out of it and wanting to fuck Dylan six ways from Sunday in an attempt to make herself feel better about the drastic changes occurring in her life.

I wanted desperately to like this one, but it fell short of my expectations. I feel a novella would have been a safer bet for this couple because a full length book, longer than book one, left me feeling bored and empty.

In Glow, the mystery, tension, and sexual connection between Dylan and Alice is off the charts. Insanely HOT. With Alice learning the truth about her past (think a cross between an heiress and Cinderella) and more about her identity/past, trust is a huuuuuuge issue and it had me flying though the pages to find out if it was in fact a real issue between the H/h. Since the beginning in Glimmer, there’s SO MUCH more to Dylan and Alice’s pasts than we knew, and it’s nearly haunting the way Kery keeps us on edge while she reveals the truth.

Alice is now part of the corporate fold at Durand, and you can’t help still questioning CEO Dylan Fall’s motives. I tried, but was not a huge fan of the Camp Durand, prerequisite "evil", and business angle of the plot, but OH MY the nighttime visits to the castle between Alice and Dylan lends this eerie, forbidden quality to the duology, almost mentor/student and gothic, and that I really enjoyed.

I enjoyed the conclusion of Alice and Dylan's story. You really need to read Glimmer first in order to truly understand what is going on in this book.

For me, the mysterious part wasn't hard to figure out. Who is against who, who is helping who, etc...

I did enjoy the relationship that Alice had with the kids at the camp.

I really thought Alice would be better this book after finding out that she was Adelaide Durand in Glimmer. But alas, I couldn't get so lucky. Look, I get that she was kidnapped and lived in an awful situation, but we read 384 pages last book about all her issues and things she went through. She needed to get past some of that in this book, especially with Dylan.

I do question why back in 2020 I gave this 5 stars. I just got back into reading and I wasn't as critical back then. I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing. I'd probably now lean towards a 3.5 just because of Alice. I did really like Dylan and how he was so protective over Alice. He was always working for her, never against. It was just to bad she couldn't see that.

Adorei!!!

This book brought to a close these two books in a good way. With what we learned in the first book much of this one was predictable. What kept me interesting was Alice recovering Addie's memories and Dylan telling Alice more of the Durands and how he knew them all. I also really loved Alice how was with her campers, firmly in their corner and how they were there for her later.

absolutely loved the story plot! Glow had some real heart stopping moments andthis was a book that was hard to put down. I could of done without all the "Fifty shades" bit. I just finished reading Grey and maybe it was just to much to soon. I prefer a milder love story. But that said, I enjoyed the suspense and story line.

did a FL over on H&H for it.

Didn't love it as much as part 1, but I still liked it - so much O_O
and ... O_O
And I thought there might be actual ghosts but no they were memories (I shoulda known because Beth Kery is overall practical, but yeesh) - this had a lot of head game stuff. More like a psychological thriller in tone, which I LOVE in movies

- anyway, yeah it had a LOT.

This second part wrapped up the story very well. I had a harder time staying interested this second installment, but I made it through.

This book is part 2 after "Glimmer." You can read both books as stand-alone books since "Glimmer" doesn't end with a cliff-hanger and "Glow" has a synopsis of "Glimmer" in case you didn't read it, or haven't read it in awhile.
These two stories revolve around Alice and Dylan who are involved in a summer camp for underprivileged teens. Alice has been hired as a camp counselor and Dylan is her boss. However, on weekends they're getting seriously intimate with mild BDSM sex at "The Castle." There is some anal play in this book for "mature audiences only."
The first half of the book has some psychoanalyzing of both characters, and it got a bit redundant for me. But the suspense and action picked up pace in the last quarter of this book. (I almost didn't finish this book because of a library due date, but I was glad I was able to complete it.) The last quarter of the book is definitely riveting.
I thought these two books were a couple of Ms. Kery's better books. I liked Dylan better than some of her other male protagonists. And the summer camp theme was not one I've read in a romance novel yet.

I enjoyed the series as a whole, but enjoyed this book less than the first. The relationship between Alice and Dylan did build a little in this book, but eventually their sex scenes and interactions became predictable for me. He would walk on egg shells, then she would ask a question, he doesn't want to answer, she pushes, he answers, then she gets upset and then they have sex. about 25% through I skipped the intimate scenes.

Also, I felt as if the book dragged quite a bit. The build up to the answers took too long. For me, it could have been explained when Dylan explained plenty of the other things to Alice. Then her getting upset and running seemed childish and not that of a woman in love and smart.

For me, I guess I just wanted a little more smart woman and a little less commanding Dylan.

A stretch four stars. I liked the storyline, when a four year old child is kidnapped from her wealthy parents and only rediscovered twenty years later, purely by chance. Mysteries and intrigues, romance and love as well. Alice Reed meets Dylan, CEO of Durand Industries, when she interviews for a spot in the Durand Camp. There the selected candidates are counselors as well as showing their qualities for a hopeful future job with the company. Immediate sparks fly and the story progresses well. I just felt that Alice was too whiny and self indulgent. He was hard to read as to his real feelings. It just could have been a better book.

This was the second book in the series, the first being glimmer.
This was a really great book and or series for me, i love the storyline.
There is mature sexual genre and or erotica in this book but it also
Has a amazing story as well.
Alice we discover was kidnapped as a child and the author takes
Us on that journey, who is Alice now? Is she a productive adult after being kidnapped?
Can she love and trust?
Both books were truly a pleasure to read, i believe Beth Kery just might be one of my favorite mature romance erotica authors, I just felt the story was truly well written and amazing.

As sad as I am to see this story come to an end, both Alice and Dylan’s story will stick with me forever. I loved this book till the very last page and I am so happy I got the chance to embark on the adventure with them.

Com um enredo bastante interessante, e com um desfecho inesperado, tem como senão as cenas de sexo demasiado extensas e no primeiro terço do livro, repetitivas.
A partir daí com a sua diminuição aumenta o interesse.
