Absolutely loved this book! What a compelling idea—to have the opportunity to live the life you’ve always dreamed of, only to discover that getting what you want doesn’t necessarily mean everything will fall perfectly into place.
I really enjoyed how realistic the consequences of Eve living her dream felt. Even though she got the life she thought she wanted, things weren’t magically perfect. Her struggles to accept her new reality and navigate new relationships became such an important part of her journey. Life still had plenty of curveballs to throw her way, but watching Eve continue to push through them was incredibly inspiring.

The themes of self-determination and learning to choose your own happiness came through so clearly. I especially loved the friendships and mentorships Eve developed along the way. Having people around her who continually encouraged her to trust herself, believe in her abilities, and live for her own happiness added so much to her story.

The touch of supernatural elements was also such a fun addition and gave Eve’s journey another layer. I loved how the book explored so many of the real-world pressures young women face today—marriage, children, careers, family dysfunction, insecurities, and the expectations we place on ourselves and each other. It all felt incredibly relatable and grounded.

I was rooting for Eve the entire time, even when I didn’t always agree with her choices. Her journey felt messy, emotional, and real, which made it all the more rewarding to experience.

Overall, this was a fantastic debut, and I can’t wait to see what stories this author tells next!

Chasing Eve by E.M. Wilder is an absolute rollercoaster: messy, chaotic, and impossible to look away from. From the moment Eve makes her life-altering decision, the story hooks you with the promise of transformation, only to yank you into a spiraling descent that feels both shocking and uncomfortably real.
What initially seems like a bold step toward a better life quickly unravels into something far more volatile. Eve’s journey becomes a raw, almost brutal portrayal of how quickly things can fall apart when choices, big and small, start stacking against you. Wilder doesn’t shy away from showing the “dumpster fire” side of reinvention, and that honesty is what makes the book so compelling.
What stood out most to me was the way the novel handles the idea of a second chance. It doesn’t romanticize it. Instead, it underscores a harder truth: change isn’t a one-time decision. It’s constant work. Eve’s story makes it clear that even when you’re given another shot, nothing is guaranteed, and self-sabotage is always lurking just beneath the surface.
If I had one critique, it’s that the chaos can feel overwhelming at times, almost to the point where it’s exhausting to keep up with Eve’s downward spiral. But in a way, that intensity is also what makes the story feel so authentic.
Overall, Chasing Eve is a wild, emotionally charged ride that explores the fragility of second chances and the consequences of losing control. It’s not always easy to read, but it’s definitely hard to forget.

Great Debut Novel

Have you ever been given a second chance at the life you wanted to live? That’s exactly what Eve was given. Unhappy with her life, where she people pleased her way into “happiness” Eve is transported into a different life where she is able to make her own choices and follow her own path.

For E. Ms debut novel, she is strong in her story telling, made me dislike the characters I needed to dislike, and cry when I needed to cry. I felt at times it was repetitive (but I had to remember so is life and this wasn’t a fantasy book) and thats okay. This book has some really heavy themes and even though Eve is given a second chance it doesn’t mean that she will always make the right choice, and things will work out perfectly. That’s exactly what stands out about this book. It’s real, raw and really uncomfortable at times. But that’s life. That’s what growing is sometimes.

I’m normally a solid fantasy or happy little romance reader; someone who likes to escape reality. So of that’s what you’re expecting. This isn’t it. Overall this was a really good book and I think if you need to relate to someone who struggles with people pleasing and navigating tough time, this book is for you. Overall very well done and I’m impressed! Highly recommend.

I was pulled in from the first page. The dedication is as true as you get.
The author has managed to captured how hard it can be to prioritize one self. And when you do, the guilt and heartbreak that sadly often follow.
Eve is in a constant internal battle; should she follow the path laid before her, or should she listen to the tiny voice in her head that tell her to take a chance on what she truly desires. Does she deserve happiness?
Had I read this book a few years ago, it would have made my life a lot easier. I hope it finds it's way into the hands of those who need to hear Eve's story.

If you want a book about found family, friendships, and the quest to find yourself again and again, this is the book for you.

The only thing I can critique is that it felt a little repetitive to begin with. We watch Eve spiral over and over. But I can't say I'd want it taken out either, cause it helps us understand how much she truly is struggling with the situation.

This was a book unlike anything I had anticipated. I am not usually someone who enjoys books like this, but this was great.

E.M. Wilder did a great job looking at the messiness of trying to decide what is the "best path" for a person's life. As a woman who does not want children, I instantly felt connected to Eve. The panic and chaos of finding out she was pregnant felt so palpable. Add in her super complicated feelings about her life choices and I was hooked.

This book really explored the messiness of life. Some of the more violent or difficult moments were a bit much for me. I struggled with that, but that is mainly because I don't enjoy those things in books at all. (Trying not to spoil.)

A great read!

Incredible first book!! Chasing Eve is a beautifully written book about a woman choosing her own destiny over what other people in her life expects and pressures her to do. It’s messy and fantastic. Wilder creates the prefect emotions of heavy family pressure and expectations and the internal conflict of its Eve life she should live it.

It kept me hooked from the first chapter. Eves whole journey is unforgettable. Reading as Eve navigates through her life now but then mourning her old life was a beautiful roller coaster.

My favorite thing about Chasing Eve is it’s raw and real. The topics are hard, the choices are deep, the good is great, the bad is crippling, the love is pure, the besties BESTIE. It’s truly life.
Eve’s story will make you laugh, and cry, and make you want to slap her silly; but watching her journey to finding who she truly wants to be is a beautiful ride.
This one is definitely for the people pleasers out there.
