Tessa Duder trained as a journalist, and spent fifteen years rearing four daughters before she turned to writing fiction in her late thirties. Her books include the four Alex novels, Jellybean and Night Race to Kawau, as well as ten titles of non-fiction for both adults and young people. She's also an editor, short story writer, playwright and actor. Born in Auckland in 1940, she's lived most of her life there, except for periods spent in England, Pakistan and Malaysia.
Tessa Duder lives in Auckland, New Zealand, where she writes full time.
So I decided to read this book because I really needed to find a book written by a New Zealand author. I found about 3 books and I decided to read this particular book because the title was the most intriguing.
This book comes under the NZ author box. The author is Tessa Duder and William Taylor. To be honest this book was really boring and it took me ages to finish.
My favorite quote in this book is "P.S what's LOL?" This is my favorite quote because it is quite rare someone doesn't know what LOL means. It just shows how 'out of it' she is.
My favorite character in this book is Dan because he keeps on lying about himself but he is really bad at covering up his tracks. He keeps on giving hints that he is lying which is funny.
Something I learned in this book is to email more often. It is a really good form of communication and we all take advantage of the use and we can all get to know each other more with long messages rather than short chats you have on facebook.
This book was really slow paced, I seriously wanted to DNF it so bad but I continued through the end. I wasn’t a big fan of the e-mail format neither did I enjoy the ending. I think it would’ve been better if the ending showed Jess & Dan meeting for the first time.
However I like the concept of a girl sailing the seas while talking to a boy stuck on land!⛵️📧
