Being a nurse gives Vanessa Meyer a true purpose in life. It grounds her in a way that nothing else can. Since she's watched her mother slide into the clutches of a painful condition, she's worked hard to better the lives of her patients, giving as much as she can to those who seek help.
Garrett Ryan is an attorney in Manhattan. He centers his life on himself. When he's brought to the hospital after a horrible crash, Vanessa tends to his wounds.
Their first meeting is explosive. She sees the worst in him. He only sees the best in her.
When she needs his legal expertise, he jumps at the chance to help her find the answers she seeks. He encourages her to set out on a journey of self-discovery but neither can predict where that complex trail will take her. When she finally traces the path of her past to the present, it leads her to a reality that changes everything she's ever known.
TRACE - Part Two
Vanessa Meyer had finally taken on the task of learning more about her birth mother. The twisted path that brought her to her family's townhouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, also brought her face-to-face with the man who she's been spending most of her nights with.
When Vanessa accepts the reality of why Garrett Ryan is connected to her sister, it changes everything for her. She has to decide whether confiding in him is worth the risk of losing him.
As more of her past becomes clear to her, she's forced to confront the woman who took a promised future of love and stability away from her.
Vanessa can't get back what she's lost but she can gain an understanding of a mother's love she'll never know.
Will she risk everything she's built with Garrett for a brief glimpse into her birth mother's mind and heart or will fate step in and force her hand?
TRACE - Part Three
Vanessa Meyer has overcome the struggles of her past to build a life that she can be proud of. She's a nurse in the ER and her relationship with attorney Garrett Ryan fulfills her in a way that nothing else can. She has accepted the fact that her mother held damaging secrets but she's ready to move on and start a new life.
Everything changes when a letter reveals a painful truth. It sets a series of events in motion that challenges Vanessa's connection to everyone in her life.
When Garrett confesses his own surprising role in her past, Vanessa has to decide if tracing her family history is worth the risk of losing the life she's built for herself now. She wants answers, Garrett wants her, but can they both truly have the happy ending they desire?
Deborah Bladon had never read a romance hero she didn't like. Her love for romance novels began when she was old enough to board the bus, library card in hand to check out the newest Harlequin paperbacks. She was a Canadian by heart, and by passport, but you could often spot her in New York City sipping a latte and looking for inspiration for her next story. Manhattan was definitely her second home.
She cherished her family and believed that each day was a gift for writing, for reading, and for loving.
I love Deborah Bladon books and style of writing so much so, I think I only have 4 more to read. But this one has become a firm favourite and I think it's because at last out leading lady has a bit of sass and steel about her. She doesnt put up with the sauve, gorgeous but arrogant Garrett Ryan ways without pulling him up on it. She also keeps him at arms lengths emotionally and just enjoys him between the sheets. A slight critism I would have of Deborah's female characters in past books is they let the men walk over them, several times I would shout "why are you putting up with his crap", particularly Ivy Marlowe in the Obsessed series and Alexa with Noah the arrogant photographer in Vain - so this is a real change and nice to see the woman with some back bone at last! Loved it!!
I have read over 30 of Deborah Bladon’s books and have never felt compelled to write a review…until now.
Spoilers ahead:
Vanessa needs a probate attorney and is bangin’ the best one in the state but doesn’t tell him what is going on or ask for his advice. She finds all these other random attorneys and it’s just so bizarre.
We finally get a male lead character who is nice and she’s just having none of it and then gets mad at him several times.
And then suddenly they are engaged. There must have been quite the relationship development between the last chapter and the epilogue because when it ended it didn’t even seem like they were officially dating.
The storyline was interesting. I liked that it was unusual. But the character development with Vanessa left a lot to be desired.
Another smashing hit with twists and turns that you cannot help becoming wrapped up into a knot. This was a convoluted story that keeps you guessing. Garret and van have such an amazing relationship and connection throughout this crazy tale. I enjoyed getting to know each of them and unraveling the sordid details. Definitely another tear jerker but completely worth it.
A slightly different one from Bladon. It's a bit on the serious side. Bladon has a knack for coming up with the best plot lines. Garrett might actually be my favourite of all of Bladon's alpha males and this book was a prime example of Bladon's plot twists. She's a genius.
Garrett is something else. It all starts when he crashes his bike in Central Park whilst "chasing the most perfect pair of tits he's seen in a long time." He's brought into the ER and meets Nurse Vanessa Meyer. He compliments her arse before fainting. She's not interested. In fact she might be a bit disgusted by his lack of manners. She calls him an arsehole right to his face.
"Garrett Ryan is starting to feel like home to me, and I can't let that happen." He gradually wins over Vanessa's heart and she's suddenly entangled with a guy who she knows absolutely nothing about except that he's a lawyer. He has secrets. She has secrets too though and they clash. Vanessa is strong in a way that amazes me but there are things she did that drove me insane and not in a good way. "I'm leaving because I'm a coward. I'm running away because I'm falling for this beautiful man who makes me feel things I've never felt before. I have secrets that I've waited too long to tell him..."
Although this book was clearly a love story, it was more a story about identity. Vanessa feels like she's loosing herself. She's convinced she doesn't even know who she is any more until she finds herself once more.
This one was a little different than the others in these serial books Deborah Bladon writes. Not so edgy, a little more serious. But I loved it just the same.
The plots are all so different and I look forward to seeing how they will be linked and tied together.
I think my favorite aspect of Deborah's books is how real everything is and what a wide variation of topics covered. There are family issues, relationship issues and work drama. I feel more like I'm reading a relatable and realistic tv drama.
Definitely worth a read but just know you will want to read alllll of them and there are a lot!
If these books were not $.99 each on kindle it would have definitely not have been worth purchasing. This author likes to write very choppy and the story flows too fast (if that can make sense). If it wasn't for the twist at the end of book one I would have not read the next one. She hooked me just enough. So read them if you want something really quick and mindless. You could read the whole series in a day. They are very short books.
I read this series in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I loved the twists and turns and all the characters, especially Garrett. He was amazing. I must admit that at times I wish Vanessa would have reached out more instead of keeping everything to herself, but that was her way of dealing with all the turmoil I suppose. I love Ms. Bladon's writing style, and I really enjoyed this series. It's one of the few books I would read again.
I have read all Deborah Bladon's books and have loved them all. This book and story line just grabs you by the heart strings. I Absolutely Loved It- could not put the book down (actually shed tears of happiness)... My suggestion is to read all her books in order- so you have an idea of who all the characters in the book are and what their stories are about first. Thanks Deborah for another great read! Loved It!
I love the interconnecting entertaining intertwining stories of these characters and stories...I wish there was an order to them but I just finished d myself going back to reference past books. I read 5 books over a short 5 day vacation including two free novellas that made my day!!!
I really liked this series. Loved the story and the characters, especially Zoe. Couldn't put it down several times. But I did a lot of skipping through the sex chapters. They went on a bit for me, but then I'm old lol!
Another amazing series by Deborah Bladon. I loved these characters weren't super rich and were more like regular people... The storyline was a bit more fantastical than her other series, but still a solid read.
This story was so touching. I was left wanting so much more from it. The depth of the characters was great and it was definitely shocking with its twists and turns. I could read about Vanessa and Garrett over and over again.
This series was a good. The story is good, the main female character the same but the main male character... I had problems with him. Something was missing. Their love story was not intense, at best lukewarm.
For buying it on a whim and thinking gee I hope I like this lol it was pretty good. Glad I got the box set since the stories are kind of short. I'll check out more by this author.
