Whatever I say about this book won’t be enough. It has suspense, horror, love, and humor. It also includes one of my favorite tropes: found family.

In a post-apocalyptic setting, we follow two protagonists trying to rebuild everything that was lost — especially their lives, their hope, and their trust. The twists never stop, because Iris never lets you relax. Just when you think everything is finally going well, another danger or obstacle suddenly appears.

I absolutely loved the side characters as well. If the author is hearing me, I would definitely love a novella about their story too , how they experienced the catastrophe and everything they went through.

I loved Iris’s first book, but I passionately adored this one. I highly recommend it.

A zombie apocalypse smut, not something I would normally choose to read, but since I first met the writing of Iris Silver I knew I would read anything, however and wherever it's about. This story is horrifying. Some virus has infected the world, people have turned into zombie-like deadly creatures. Skye, a lonely survivor, has to leave her house, in order to find food and that's when we get to know her, when the story begins for us. She will meet Kayden and a few other survivors, they will travel all over to reach a refuge, to find a way to live after the destruction of everything they knew.

I was so sure there would be no hope in these situations, would never even imagine finding love among the chaos. But this writer is optimistic. This writer believes in the good in humanity. This writer took me by the hand, through the most dark places that SHE created and showed me the way out, showed me there is some good in this world and it's worth fighting for (to quote mr Samwise). Her characters don't give up, they keep fighting, they believe in second chances, they love deeply (and have so much sex whenever it's possible).

But of course, this is also a smut, a very good smut, though I'm not an expert.

The second book from Iris Silver that I read. It's definitely different than the first one, but I loved it too.

It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. At first I thought about covid, then about the last of us. But eventually, it was something different. Something unique.

This one is a fucking masterpiece! I totally recommend it! It has a very, VERY, interesting plot. The characters are absolutely amazing. Not only the main characters, Skye and Kayden, but also the side characters. I loved them all.

I loved how the writer used the found family trope. I have my own found family and reading about another one, it felt like home.

The story is really good. You are going to feel all kinds of feelings; love, hate, horror, sadness, happiness etc. You are going to stop breathing every few pages. You are going to hold your breath literally in every chapter.

The writing is really good. It's breathtaking. You want to read one more chapter until it's 3am, even though you must be up at 7am.

The smutty parts are sooo good. The sexual tension is to the roof from the beginning. Kayden is sexy af and totally husband material. New book-boyfriend unlocked! Skye is amazing and I really adored her!

Overall, just read it! You REALLY have to!

What Remains completely surprised me in the best way. It takes a harsh, broken world and somehow makes space for something deeply human and tender. The romance feels raw and intimate, built through quiet moments and emotional vulnerability rather than clichés.
What I loved most is how the story balances survival with connection — it never lets you forget how fragile everything is, which makes every bit of love feel more intense and meaningful. Even when the world feels empty, the characters don’t.
And what makes it even more special is that Iris Silver still feels like a hidden gem. There’s something exciting about discovering a writer at this stage — her voice already feels intimate and distinctive, and it leaves me genuinely curious to see what she creates next.
It’s not just a love story set after the end — it’s a reminder that even when everything is gone, something real can still remain.
It's the second book I read by Iris Silver after "Always Somewhere" and would totally recommend both!
