Sienne has a thing for dark and brooding alphas and the diverse women who love them.

She enjoys writing stories where lines are blurred and the romance is dark and delicious.

In her spare time, she unwinds with a nice glass of wine and Netflix binge.

Good but....

I had a hard time reviewing this one, some spoilers
The story was interesting and the author was able to draw you in with her descriptive writing. I was uncomfortable with the sexual scenes. The MMC knew she was a virgin but he still took her roughly and felt no remorse. He used sex for punishment, example.. he ties her up, uses a belt forces anal plug in her. Then forces oral sex while holding her nose till she passes out. Then he releases in her face and sends the maid to clean her up while she still tied up. A few days ago she was a virgin so it's so unrealistic and absolutely unbelievable for her have any enjoyment from this encounter. Most of the sex scenes are cringey and brutal. You don't expect a strong Mafia man to do rose petals and candles. I find it very distasteful when the MMC hurts the woman for his pleasure, abuse is not foreplay and it's ridiculous for a woman to accept this kind of treatment. It was a decent read but I skipped through most of the sex scenes, which is sad because I do enjoy steamy scenes with a strong alpha male. However I feel that it was not done tactfully in this book. Also I think the author over mentioned the color of her skin constantly. It was a good read.

I received Wedded to the Enemy as an Advanced Reader Copy ebook. The following are my honest thoughts in exchange.

Wedded to the Enemy is book #1 in The New York Underworld – The Callahans series. It is an arranged marriage mafia romance with tension and mouth watering spice. I enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a fiery female and a man that is willing to do anything for his wife. Although Simone is a spoiled brat that pushes him at every turn, Ronan is willing to do what it takes to make sure that their union survives. With an enemy in wait. What will be around the next turn.

Im excited to see where book two takes us, this is a strong start to what is going to be a thrilling intoxicating drama filled series.

If you’re anything like me and you have a short attention span, you like books to start fast and hook you—to capture your attention with characters and a plot. You want to go in immediately and say, “Oh yeah, I know I’m gonna be in for a good time.” Author Sienne Vega does this with every book I’ve read from her, and Wedded to the Enemy was one that I called 5 stars from the beginning.

It’s not just another Dark Arranged Marriaged Mafia Romance. It’s the Irish Mafia, with a red-haired MMC who only became the Mafia Heir because his older brother is in prison. Ronan and Simone, the mafia princess, marry to build alliances. Though the story is truly a hate-to-love, and Sienne Vega's spice scenes are top tier, the two weren't doing too much hating all the time!

What I love about Sienne’s Mafia Romances is that there’s a well-developed Mafia plot woven in that is suspenseful, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Things got intense several times in Wedded to the Enemy, and Sienne builds it up beautifully. She always amazes me with her writing skills and creative storytelling. Always original, always exciting.

Wedded to the Enemy is Book 1 in the New York Underworld—The Callahans Series. There were the first two chapters for Book 2 at the end. I’m going to hold off on reading that. But I did sneak a peek at who’s the focus. Book 2 releases on May 28th!

Thank you to Author Sienne Vega for the gifted copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

ARC REVIEW

Can I even say this was enemies to lovers 😩😩😩

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/spice

This was such an intense read 😭🔥.

Wedded to the Enemy follows Simone and Ronan in a forced arranged marriage that starts off full of tension and dislike. Watching their relationship slowly shift while danger builds around them kept me hooked.

The story is very high angst with a lot of ups and downs, and just when things seem calm, something else happens. It definitely kept me on edge.

This is not a light read though—check the trigger warnings.

If you like dark romance, enemies-to-lovers, and drama, this is worth it.

So Disappointing

I try to give grace because all authors are different…but forced s*x is ALWAYS rape, no matter how “the body responds.” Most of the “romantic” scenes were forced, brutal, punitive rape…there is no cute way to say it. It is VERY disappointing to know this is a black woman author that would write this. And based on many of the reviews, makes me wonder what women understand as consent and healthy. I’ve read all kinds of “steamy” scenes - taboo, bdsm, etc…and consent was still clear. Never in life thinking a woman’s initial experiences with smex that’s forced and brutal will lead to love…not believable no matter how you twist it

Not the best

I wanted to like this cause I enjoy this author’s writing but it felt a bit flat. I don’t understand how these two fell in love outside of sex and there were so many things inconsistent with how some characters were portrayed. Dad sells arms on the black market but his house and daughter don’t have guards? She lives in New York but doesn’t know self defence or have a gun for personal use? How was the heir apparent left in prison without protection or even protection that’s paid for from another gang or someone else?? Very sloppy a lot of telling me without showing. Somehow everyone’s friends at the end Malcom is ready to be mates with Ronan and welcoming Simone back in the company 🤨 The tease for book 2 is just 🥱 no offence

This book was boring. Simone came off like a very independent woman yet as soon as she got married she became weak. There was no chemistry between the two characters just sex and that was horrible.

Thank you to the author for the Advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

The lack of emotional connection between Simone and Ronan hurts the story. Ronan was annoying and rapey. They were in love within two pages after hating each other the whole book. The pacing was in hell. Also Simone’s never wavering love for her parents especially her Father was something i couldn’t understand whatsoever.

Sienne Vega really had me hooked on the Callahans story! I cannot wait for the next book in the series which features the other brother and Simone's bestie! I am glad that Simone and Ronan found love with each other (finally)! And, not to "spoil" everything for this story but all that I will say is that the "enemy" of the Callahans is a lot closer than they realize! Great ending!

Tropes: Mafia, Forced Proximity, Arranged Marriage, Enemy to Lovers, Opposites, Suspense
Sienne Vega returns us to the world of mob/mafia alliances in her latest book, Wedded to the Enemy. Optics and public opinion suggest that the Callahan Mob family and Malcolm Langston have very little in common. The Callahans are entrenched in the underbelly of the city, dealing in almost every vice known to man, while the Langstons run a well-respected weapons manufacturing firm. When it appears that the families share a common foe, the fathers decide to join forces through the bonds of matrimony! Subsequently, Ronan and Simone are reluctantly tied together in a marriage that neither one of them chooses or desires.
Ronan and Simone have little, really nothing, in common; he is the unappreciated spare son to his father’s criminal empire, while Simone functions as the PR expert for her family’s business even as she turns shopping into an Olympic sport. Complete opposites, Ronan is brutal, gruff and dominating; Simone is sheltered and innocent to the gritty side of life. Their initial encounters are toxic and hostile AND they have no reason to trust each other! How will they forge any kind of alliance or even bond when they can barely stand to be in same room together?
Conclusion:
As always, Ms. Vega incinerates the pages with her depiction of passion and purpose. This story has more of a slow-burn feeling than most of this author’s stories. It is hard to make a connection when hampered by genuine loathing😊. Ronan appears to have most of the advantages in the storyline; Simone is in hostile territory (separated from family and her best friend, Chantal) with no allies completely loyal to her but she didn’t let that sway her. I enjoyed the trajectory of the story as our mismatched pair was able repeatedly find a small oasis of connection, however tenuous. I loved the humor, snark and bold speaking from both of them. However, mistrust and uncertainty also permeated the story, and the reveal of the major villain was unexpected. This entry is the first in a series and I was also surprised to learn the identity of the upcoming MMC when I read the blurb for the next installment….I thought we were heading in a different direction. Final words, Ronan is proof that even the hardest heart can feel love and tenderness. Simone was an awesome character, continuing to show dignity when entrenched in enemy territory and finding love against the odds. I hope we get plenty of updates on them in the next book 😊.
Favorite Lines:
I do what I need to for our family,” I answer throatily. “And our family’s interests align.
Spend the rest of my life tethered to the old ball and chain—some woman I’ve never formally met.
I’m the moody grump who prefers to keep to his own devices.
They’ve picked the one woman impossible to please.
All I can think about is her. Out there. Without me.
The possessive way he looked at me made my heart stop.
I’ve married into a horribly misogynistic, patriarchal family.
The place I once called home. …and then I was given away and married off to a family that’s the complete opposite
Gradually since, he’s become the man I can’t seem to resist. The man I even crave.
Then I’m flushed by how he takes control and demonstrates just what lengths he’ll go to in order to protect me.
Be specific, princess. Your dear ol’ husband, huh?
“We are,” I say. “There’s no going back. We’re for life.”

Let’s Set the Mood Right Quick:
Wedded to the Enemy by Sienne Vega
Drink: Enemy Lines
Music: Gangsta by Kehlani

Simone Langston: If “princess” were a person, it would be Simone. Sheltered her entire life—and it shows—but don’t get it twisted. She’s intelligent, sharp, and has a quiet kind of fire that refuses to be put out.

Ronan Callahan: If “mob” were a man, it would be Ronan. Cold, calculated, and commanding—but layered. There’s so much more beneath the surface than just being the leader of the Bonemen.

One thing about us… we love a good forced marriage / marriage of convenience. And this being our first time reading this trope by Sienne Vega? Oh, she did not come to play. This book was fun, dark, and dripping in mafia energy. When Sienne says dark romance, she means it. There’s no tiptoeing around the Irish mafia life—the weapons dealing, the violence, the tension, the banter… it’s all right there on the page. Raw. Gritty. Unapologetic. And for a 341-page book? It flew. We were locked in.

Ronan? Exactly who they said he was. Cold. Brutal. A little unhinged in the best way. But what we loved most? He never softened for the world—only for his wife. And that shift? Whew. That’s the good stuff.

Simone? Babyyyy, she played the pampered princess role down—but with layers. Witty. Bratty. Strong. She didn’t let anyone break her, no matter how hard they tried. And we loved that she had her own thing going. She wasn’t just “daddy’s little rich girl.” Yes, she shopped (as she should💅🏽), but she also had sense, ambition, and backbone.

The twists? Kept coming. The pacing? Tight. The tension? Delicious. And that setup for book two? Yeah… we’re sippin this series. For everything happening in this story, the romance still felt real. Messy, dangerous, complicated—but real. If you’re looking for an action-packed, spicy, Irish mafia romance with a strong heroine and a dangerously soft-for-her-only hero… Run—don’t walk—to Wedded to the Enemy💥🔥

When opposites come together, sparks fly.. Left and right...

🆆🅷🅰🆃 🆃🅾 🅻🅾🅾🅺 🅵🅾🆁🆆🅰🆁🅳 🆃🅾:
🔖 Mafia Romance (Irish)
🔖 Arranged Marriage/ Marriage of Convenience
🔖 Enemies-to-Lovers
🔖 Action and suspense

🅼🆈 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂:
Simone is the darling princess of her father and manages PR for her father's company.
She's used to having her own way and her life mainly concerns where to shop next while being with her bestie Chantal.

Ronan on the other hand is the spare son who had to take the responsibility now of doing the actual heir's job because his elder brother is now in jail.

Nor Simone nor Ronan want this marriage but their father broker this deal to merge the families. Simone because her father, Malcolm Langston wants the protection of the Irish.

Oohhh...we actually have real hate hate vibes going on and right from the day Simone and Ronan get married we have fireworks on one hand and on the other, we have these two going for each other's throats.

Ronan was so controlling initially and I alongwith Simone didn't like him that much. It's like his family believes women are to be controlled and should know their place and I was gritting my teeth watching him being a control freak.

But Simone is not a lady who just will listen. Even though she is sort of tied up having to, but she doesn't exactly makes Ronan's life easy.

I have to say the chemistry between them was hot and seriously the combination of want and hate was deadly especially when they both succumb to their mutual wanting for each other.

There are a lot of other things at work like the rift increasing between the families even after marriage and also the fact that there are enemy clans wanting to take the Irish power for themselves.

We have action packed scenes and also some twists that I so didn't see coming.

I just wish Simone would have fought back a bit more and Ronan was less of an a-h-o-l-e..... to her.

Also, that ending... Ooohh... And that secret.... Book 2 sure has me intrigued now.

I really enjoyed Wedding to the Enemy. Simone and Ronan turned out to be a good couple together even though their marriage started off extremely rocky. Ronan is the alpha male who takes charge and do things on his own, but he also has a contentious relationship with his father. When his brother went to jail, it forced Ronan to step into his shoes. Simone was the "sheltered princess" as Ronan calls her who knew her father dabbled in the black market and some illegal activities but was kept away from it. But when this deal is brokered, things really become real for her, and she saw just how dangerous things could become.

As always Sienne Vega brings twists and turns to all of her plots that will keep you guessing about who the real villain is and how things are going to turn out. I had my suspicions but didn't figure it out until close to the end. Then it had me guessing who else is the boss behind all it. The ending has me so ready for book number two in the series.

The plot flowed very nicely. There were no moments where it dragged on unnecessarily. I also liked the secondary characters, except for Ronan's father at first because he was a huge butthole. But it was nice to see him realize how he treated Ronan was wrong. So I cannot wait to book two to see how this story unfolds. I figured out who the boss is, but I'm almost 100% sure there's more to the story that will explain his actions. Overall, this was a great story to read, and I'd recommend it.

I have to admit, at first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the dynamic between Roman and Simone in their arranged marriage. I really struggled with Roman’s character in the beginning, especially when he would “punish” her. It made him hard to like.
But as the story unfolded and I got a deeper understanding of who he was, my perspective shifted. It started to feel like his actions were driven not just by control, but by frustration and a need to make a point. At the same time, Simone was determined to hate her husband no matter what.

The chemistry between them was undeniable. Like completely off the charts, and that tension kept me hooked. What really won me over, though, was Roman’s unwavering vow to protect Simone. Despite being a crime lord, his loyalty and fierce devotion to both her and his family stood out. Watching him step up to lead his family’s empire after his brother was imprisoned and ultimately killed added another layer to his character.
I found myself rooting for Roman and Simone the entire time, hoping they would find their way to loving each other. I’m so glad they did. The story kept me on edge from start to finish, with the perfect mix of passion, danger, and emotional intensity.
I’m already looking forward to book two to see what happens with Simone’s best friend.

*ARC Review*
Wedded to the Enemy is the perfect introduction to the Callahan Clan! Sienne never misses and this story takes the arranged marriage trope in a new and exciting direction. Ronan is such a great MMC he’s cool, blunt, sexy and knows his role in the family and he takes it serious even as the “spare“ son. I love that he keeps his vow of protecting his wife no matter the circumstances of how their marriage came to be. The FMC Simone is a pampered princess and goes into this arranged marriage with such an attitude, and she hates every minute of it. Simone is definitely a brat that stressed me out and at times had me feeling bad for Ronan because you could see that he was trying to make the best of the situation and she was determined to give him hell at every level. Sometimes in her quest to be independent she finds a bit of trouble. This book also has loads of action and constantly had me in a chokehold trying figure out what was going to happen next and of course the spice. Without giving spoilers I will say Ronan is that man! An absolute must read and a great start to the series!

If you live for the forced marriage and enemies-to-lovers tropes, Wedded to the Enemy by Sienne Vega is a total must-read. This isn't just a romance; it’s a full-blown battlefield. Simone and Ronan are a match made in mafia heaven—or maybe hell, depending on who you ask! From the very first page, the tension is suffocating in the best way possible. Simone is a fantastic heroine; she’s not some shrinking violet being handed over to the Irish Mob. She is pure fire and fury, and watching her go toe-to-toe with Ronan was incredibly satisfying.

Then there’s Ronan Callahan. He is exactly the kind of cold, crass, violent brute you want in a dark mafia romance. He’s possessive, intense, and determined to tame the woman he’s claimed, but what makes him so compelling is how he sees the strength in Simone that others overlook. Their chemistry is explosive, and the power struggle between them makes every interaction feel high-stakes. It’s a dark and sultry ride that perfectly captures the monster vs. princess dynamic. If you want a book where the marriage is a business deal but the passion is a war, pick this up immediately.

This book was a rollercoaster! The spare son of an Irish mafia family and the only spoiled daughter of a powerful arms dealer are forced together in this arranged marriage, enemies to lover, forced proximity romance.

I think the banter was good. The enemies-to-lover trope was spot on. These two couldn’t stand each other. Rowan thought he owned Simone and now that she had his last name. I enjoyed that Simone tried to put her foot down and stand up to Ronan in the beginning. Ronan is an Irish brute and shows it off every chance he gets in the beginning.

One thing that really didn’t sit right in my soul was the hotel wedding night and the first spanking/whipping scene. I love a good dark romance, BDSM, D/s relationship but this was a bit much. One of my favorite genres is dark romance, but at the beginning of the book it felt more like slave and master and not in a kinky way. But once I read more it got better, felt more collaborative, more natural, and you could tell Ronan grew to care and respect Simone. Their love and trust grew even with the chaotic world that they live in. Overall it was a great mafia romance. Thanks to the author for allowing me to ARC read

OK, so let me say this without giving away the whole storyline..., these two (Ronan - MMC & Simone - FMC) were put together in a marriage by their family without their agreement. So, you already know it was a long bumping road for these two. At a point in the story, I was like Ronan, NO, don't do her like that, she's sorry. And from the very beginning, Simone hated his ass, all throughout most of the book. As time goes by and they start to spend more time with each other, they begin to find neutral ground to grow and have feelings toward each other (more so towards the end of the book). Of course there are some naughty dirty scenes, just how I like it. There was more, than one bad guy in this book, and they were all a surprise to me. I hated that Ronan father refer to him as his "SPARE SON". There was some back stabling, betrayal and twist & turns, that I did not see coming. Why.... did it end on a cliffhanger, augh, Lol......... This 1st book in the serious, has me hooked, so you already know I'm waiting for the next one. It was a great book, and I recommend you put it on your to read list

Wedded to the Enemy by Sienne Vega is a mafia romance that delivers on tension, twists, and strong character dynamics within an arranged marriage setup.

The story follows Simone and Ronan, two characters from powerful families who are brought together through an arranged marriage despite being complete opposites. Simone, a PR expert for her family’s business, brings confidence and a sharp edge to the relationship, while Ronan—often seen as the “spare” son—approaches the marriage with a determination to make it work.

What stands out is how the story balances their differences. Their dynamic carries a strong enemies-to-lovers energy, with tension that builds naturally as they navigate both personal and family expectations.

The plot keeps you engaged with its twists and turns. Just when it feels like the direction is clear, the story shifts, adding another layer and keeping the momentum strong throughout.

Overall, Wedded to the Enemy is an entertaining and engaging mafia romance that delivers on both character dynamics and plot, making it a satisfying read for the genre.

This book was full of twists and turns and tension. Simone and Ronan couldn’t be more different from each other but they fit together so well. Simone is sheltered but has a fierceness that cannot be stamped out. Ronan is the definition of a mob man. He’s gruff and calculating but has more to him than just the weapon he’s often seen as. Everything about their connection and their relation is raw and grit and danger. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I completely devoured this book. Watching this unhinged mountain of a man who bends for no one soften for his wife…epic swoon. He is so protective of her and it’s so endearing. I also loved Simone’s bratty nature and the banter that flowed between them. She gave Ronan hell and it was *chef’s kiss* But the way he was determined to make the situation the best for her warmed my heart and had me wanting the same for him. This book is filled with action and drama and danger, and just the perfect level of spice. And that ending…my good lord. I have to have the next book in the series right now.

Ronan Callahan and Simone Langston were pure chaos together, and honestly that’s what made this book so addictive. Their arranged marriage starts with hatred, power struggles, and nonstop tension, but underneath all the toxicity there’s still this intense pull between them that keeps you hooked.
Ronan is cold, possessive, brutal, and completely mafia-coded, while Simone refuses to let him control her easily. Their arguments, chemistry, and emotional push-and-pull carried the entire story. Watching Ronan slowly soften only for Simone while still staying dangerous was probably my favorite part.
The book had drama, betrayal, suspense, and enough twists to keep things entertaining the whole time. Some moments felt rushed and the relationship could’ve used a little more emotional depth in certain scenes, but overall it was such an addictive dark romance read.
Perfect if you love enemies-to-lovers, forced marriage, possessive mafia men, messy emotions, and couples that feel one argument away from destroying each other.

This is book one in The New York Underworld. This is Simone and Ronan story. This one is more of a 3.75 than a straight 3. The business side is a 4.75. There're twists, betrayals, multiple questionable people, etc. That alone would have made things worth reading. The issue is the character development. They start out strong. You are waiting for Simone to say no and walk from the alter. Unfortunately, that's when she becomes a weak shadow of herself. Her one attempt to stand up for herself is a standard, go out to a club rather than almost anything else that would have shown her strength. Ronan becomes a stereotype villain that never redeems himself. They finally settle into "getting along" when yet again, a misunderstanding and Ronan again resorts to the villain mode. Again, he never really redeems himself. The emotional connection - lack thereof - hurts the arc. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It’s a dark, jagged pill that had me squirming despite the trigger warnings. Unapologetically violent and packed with whiplash-inducing twists, the story centers on Simone Langston, a resilient "spoiled princess" sold to the Irish Mob, and Ronan Callahan, the "crass, violent brute" determined to tame her.

The dynamic is less of a romance and more of a psychological war. Simone’s fire and fury make her a formidable foil to Ronan’s coldness, but I’m still on the fence about them as a couple. The power imbalance is massive, and Ronan’s "taming" tactics frequently blur the line between dark romance and genuine cruelty.

The Bottom Line: A gritty, visceral rollercoaster that won’t be for everyone. If you have a strong stomach for "monster" heroes and heroines who fight back with everything they’ve got, you’ll devour this—just be prepared to feel a little dirty afterward.

Major issues!

This maybe my first time reading Sienna Vega but I wish she and other authors would fix a few things while writing their books.
First, the mention of ALCOHOL drinking is pervasive throughout this novel and others by similar authors! Drinking excessively has become a major issue with women!
Second, the usage of “spare”, referring to the Male Main Character, is overused. The same as the word “princess”, referring to the Female Main Character.
Third, the excessive shopping done by the FMC is sickening.
Lastly, the treatment of the FMC, sexually!! Why did there have to be what can only be described as a Marital Rape, made to be enjoyable by the FMC?
She was penetrated anally and yet there was NO MENTION of rectal bleeding and vaginal bleeding after he took her virginity by force.
Ms. Vega has glimpses of a great writer but so far to go with the SMALL DETAILS OF HER STORY!

Ronan Callahan and Simone Langston lifestyle and upbringing couldn't be more different. He is an enforcer for the Irish Mob, Simone works at her family's company. He grew up surrounded by violence, while Simone grew up surrounded by the upper echelon elite of society.
What happens when two different people have to enter into an arranged marriage that will ensure the protection from outside forces hell bent on bringing them to their knees?
Ronan and Simone realize they have things in common...loyalty and love for their families.
As danger, questions, and treachery seem to be around every corner Ronan and Simone both face the reality that life is strange, love is stranger, and marrying the enemy for the sake of their families, can turn into the love of a lifetime. All while trying to keep the clan prosperous and rule the New York underworld. After all it’s the Callahan way.

**ARC review. Thank you to Sienne Vega and her team.**

2.5 stars.

The twists and turns of the story were entertaining but there were things here that just made the FMC and MMC unlikeable to me and they were never really redeemed.

Obviously, in a story such as this you know the MMC is going to be repugnant and despicable. He definitely lived up to that and more. He never really groveled either, he just started acting nicer and it was like all was forgiven for the FMC.

The FMC was a bird, really. Her character started the book being a person that was the opposite of a pushover. However, as soon as the MMC was introduced she just accepted whatever abuses he would subject her to. A couple days of the silent treatment then she would just move on, no consequences, nothing. I also think it’s unrealistic tosh and repulsive to write a r*pe scene like it's sexy and show the FMC turned on and having an orgasm from that, which happened twice (longest sex scenes of the book mind you).
